Reliable Autos is state vehicle inspection, car repair, and maintenance shop in the Heights neighborhood of Houston, Texas. When I arrived, the technicians in the garage didn't speak English, but they pointed for me to go into their shop to speak to the front desk for any services I needed. After checking in, I gave them my insurance information and handed them the key. +State Vehicle Inspection for $25.50 - This was completed in under 10-minutes. If you use a credit card, they may charge $2 extra, so use cash. If you bundle this service with something else like an oil change, they will eliminate this extra charge if you use a credit card. - 5/5 +Synthetic Oil Change for $64.90 - This was completed in under 25-minutes. - 5/5 Overall, I was very happy with the service I received. It was quick, easy, and they had fair prices. There are negative reviews about their service, but this could possibly be cultural differences. This place seems to be run by owners from a Muslim country as there are Qur'an religious texts with their magazines in the waiting area. Focus on just the quick turnaround and price, and I promise you that you will be happy! read more

I bought a car for $6000 in cash and it only lasted 3 months. They sold me a bogus warranty. Worst car lot and dishonest people. Save yourself the head ache and money, go somewhere else. read more

Affordable, fast, honest, and so nice! I've gone to them for inspections, oil changes, and windshield wiper changes for about four years now and I'll never go anywhere else. read more

This location does not even deserve a star. I patronized this auto shop, because I believed they would be representing their name. Unfortunately, to summarize the shop. This place has no ethics, integrity or respect for women. I came in for help for my mechanical issue, only to be hustled from an original quote to the mechanics deliberately trying to find non exhisting issues with my vehicle. The mgr did not even call me for status of my vehicle or when he was buying more expensive parts intentionally to raise my initial quote, therefore I have informed everyone I know and I hope this review will assist in having others to avoid patronizing this unethical terrible auto shop.... read more

I brought my other vehicle in here a few weeks ago for an old change and inspection sticker. No issues and fast service. Warning: thus is not a posh-looking facility, but they are seemingly honest and know what they are doing for minor repairs. I'll see shortly after this other car gets inspected. They also rent U-Hauls, which is an extensive part of their business on the weekends. Moving supplies, padding, boxes, etc are also available for sale . read more

Hands down my favorite place for a car inspection. They're very honest and fast. If your car needs something repaired for inspection, they'll handle it inexpensively and on the spot. For example, they fixed my headlight for about 1/4 of what another place was going to charge me just to look at it. Whole thing took about half an hour. read more

Reliable Auto - Beware attack cat. - Used Car Dealers Near Me - Houston, Texas

This is by far the most professional, trustworthy, quality, and affordable mechanic shop I've ever been to. I've been going directly to the dealership's certified mechanic shop my whole life, and I'm sure you've been able to tell the level of trust was never great, but it's significantly declined in recent years. Now, all the manufacturer's are just trying to squeeze as much money as they can possibly get away with. This is one of the many areas where Reliable Auto shines. From the beginning to the end they are helpful. insightful, don't rush you, make you feel like family, and are completely up front with you about everything. They will take the time to explain things if you have questions. They don't talk down to you or make you regret even asking. I'll be taking all my auto-work to them from now on. If it falls outside their scope of competency, I will ask them who I should go to. Trust is priceless here, and I cannot recommend them enough. read more

I absolutely love this shop! Customer service is always excellent. They genuinely care about their customers and offer the best the best prices in Houston! I won't take my Lexus anywhere else. read more

Nestled between Shepherd and Durham, just a bit north of the Katy Fwy., this place is easy to miss because it's not easy on your eyes. Just look for all the U-Hauls in the adjoining lot, which is theirs, and you are at the right location. At first, I said "Ugh", it looks busy, but I didn't realize that most of the people were there to rent U-Hauls. After entering the business, a little sign asks you to put your name on a clipboard if you want service (Inspection sticker or oil change). I was only 2nd in line after all, and the wait was short. They do have a system, and the owner (or manager?) is very friendly. No extra charges, other than a small fee for paying by credit card and I was in my way. OK, it's not sleek and modern looking, but I left with the impression that this is an honest business. read more

Just like the other 5 star reviews said- quick, honest, and job well done. $27 inspection that took less than 15 min. I understand where the other lower star reviews are coming from, but in a world where we demand perfect customer service we must remember that some Mom&Pop shops may have yet to evolve into the Chik-Fil-A type business vibe of making you feel like a star. This place is located within walking distance of Nourish Juice and Smoothie bar if you don't want to wait inside. I highly recommend this place for sticker inspection! read more

Quick and efficient service for a state inspection and oil change. I've gone on mornings during the week and never ran into any wait longer than 30 minutes. Though it's not the nicest looking facility and the waiting room could use a lift, I would still come back since it's convenient, close to home, and keeps my car running smoothly. read more

It's my 3rd time coming here for an inspection and oil changes. They are fast and reliable and gave me a list of fluids to check every two wks. Their moving supplies are also priced reasonably. It's not high end but comfortable enough, especially if you like cats. read more

These guys are very professional and prices are very reasonable, friendly people, they need to upgrade waiting area

I had an appointment set up to pick up a car at 2:00pm. Arrived at 1:55pm and told them I was here to pick up a car. Was told the car hadn't arrived yet and that it was about 40 minutes away then they would have to do a check in. I wait patiently, about 80 minutes pass and I ask for an update. I'm told it's about another 30 minutes and they are trying to get in touch with the driver, that tells me they have no idea when the car will be in. Now I'm wasting my afternoon waiting who knows how long for a car no body knows where it's at. read more

Came here for a quick vehicle inspection and left feeling completely happy with their service. You walk in, sign in and wait to speak to one of the employees behind the desk. There were about 3 other people ahead of me but I was gone in less than 25 minutes. The employees were busy but very friendly and informative. They added my email address and phone number to their system and quickly sent a coupon to my phone for a future visit. I will definitely be back for my next inspection! read more

I went here cause I needed my inspection and oil changed and also cause I needed a closer place to get these things done. Of course while checking yelp, this place was the first one to pop up and had so many great reviews. I agree with everyone else that at first glance, it's not very appealing to the eye on appearance. It actually looks like a pretty sketchy place, to be honest. When I pulled in and got out, I was greeted by the owner and he asked what I needed. He was so nice and helpful. He showed me where the waiting room was and there was another helpful guy there too. He asked me what I needed to get done and gave me helpful options on what would be best for my truck. The max time I waited was 25-30 min, and granted that I was getting both my inspection and oil changed. It ended up being around $64. I wasn't really sure what's the regular price range, so I couldn't really compare. Regardless, I needed to get these two done asap since I was way overdue. read more

When you roll up to this place it's not easy on the eyes. But when you need an inspection sticker do you really care? I cannot speak much for their Uhaul or repair services, but their inspection sticker service is one of the fastest in town. They will have you in and out within 10-15 minutes. It's near my office and on the way home, which adds to the convenience. read more

I like this place, plus I passed my inspection! PROS - They were very fast. When I stepped out of my car, a man left the building to come help me and remind me to get my proof of insurance before coming inside - Good customer service. They were very nice. The waiting room is a man's office, who chatted me up while I waited. All quite pleasant. CONS - They charged me $2 for using a credit card instead of cash. I would recommend to others. read more

Efficient and fair pricing. I've come to get my annual state inspection here for the past 3 years. Knocking off one star because I did not observe any COVID safety precautions in place. Every single employee (I've seen 7 during my current visit) was not wearing a mask, and they did not try to maintain their distance from customers. I also observed one employee sneezing consistently with no mask on. Disappointing. read more

Wouldn't piss on these people if they were on fire in the desert. I came in after reading decent reviews and wow that was a mistake. I get out of my car and a garage employee greets me with "What do you want?" Already not feeling it. I had called and asked if they had time for an AWD alignment. I walk in the office with another customer present and I'm told to sign in. I sign it and said I need an all wheel alignment and an oil change. The employee doesn't even ask me what oil I want or what type they carry. I asked their employee. 3 hours later, I am out of a work meeting and I have missed calls. They called to "tell me all the wheels needed an alignment." That's cool. I dropped it off for that and you've only done the front? I specified i needed all 4. So 3 hours after I had an awful taste in my mouth and most of my morning gone thinking I have all my chores done, false. These people are liars and awful to do business with. They're rude and I would STAY AWAY. read more

Went back like 3 times for inspection... first time they told me to drive it a certain millage, so I did after getting the things fixed and the check engine came back on! Got it fixed and drove it again for 300 miles just to make sure! May car is matte and they said they couldn't pass it because of the lights and tint, something that was never addressed the two previous times, out of all the times I've gotten tickets or other inspections never had it been and issue! They got rude with me and didn't like the fact that I stood up for myself, as they're use to the employees ( that I'm sure need the job and legal status maybe questionable)..! I didn't want to give them not even 1 Star. This place is very unprofessional. They were painting the walls in the waiting room and the smell was giving me a headache. They told me on the phone there were no appointments needed, that I could walk in. An inspection should be 10 minutes. They said. I got skipped after sitting there for 15minutes. Then told it would be another 25 minutes more. I'm on my lunch, not convenient at all. I told them I was there before the other 2 people that just rolled up to get their cars inspected. Get this, they made appointments. read more

Great location, nice people who will not cheat you into a service that you don't need. You can actually trust them to tell you which maintenance you may or may not need I came here with 3 repair requests that I was told I needed by dealer. Brakes, oil, spark plugs. Reliable autos told me that brakes, oil, and spark plugs were good for at least another 15k+ miles, after which I should get them checked again. They could have just done all 3 and charged me for it, but instead decided to tell me the truth Thanks! read more

Honestly if it wasn't for the guy who inspected my truck taking my loose change I would have left a 5 star review. I witness the lady at the desk do an amazing job of handling every customer that came in with quick and amiable service. But once I returned to my vehicle I discovered the change that was left in MY cup holder was no longer there I quickly changed my opinion of this place. Needless to say the total amount of coins taken was insignificant for me to have made a big deal it was more of the integrity of their employees. I would not recommend this place unless you are willing to forgo your stuff being taken. I am aware of the signs to gather your personal belongings but if you see something that is not yours simply don't take it especially if it's not your vehicle. read more

I came here based upon the reviews and the fact that it's on the way home from work. The wait was longer than I expected (~30 mins), but this is literally a one-man shop where he also rents U-hauls on the side. Emissions is pretty straightforward, so I am happy to have it done quickly. He charges $2 for credit/debit/check transactions, so beware of that. The place really isn't much to look at. There is a little office with a window A/C trying to keep us cool. Good job to him for keeping the place going. Once your car is being checked, it's only a few mins. I'll likely take my wife's car in since it was so quick. read more

Owners are lovely , kind, congenial, honest, incredibly fast and efficient and communicative prices are extremely fair. Office cat minor also live a up the old timey vibe. Inspection super fast. Rather than force me to buy a new battery they told me about the secret code in my glovebox that would make my stereo function again after battery revived. They also got my friend's new registration, stickers AnD plates done in two days. Can't recommend highly enough. Need a sixth star. read more

I was sent here for a uhaul pick up. First off their address is wrong and took me to a different area. Then I showed up to the address I got from them when I called to figure out where they were located and their place had a sign on the door saying to go down the street. Then they processed my uhaul and couldn't find the keys!!!! Then gave us a different one and Just told us to go find it... the key didn't work on any uhauls on the lot so I had to go back in and they said I was wrong until one of the workers realized that uhaul wasn't even on their lot! THEN. They had to re process me into another uhaul... absolutely horrible service! read more

I will never come back here. I took my car here to have the brake pads and rotors replaced on my 2013 Mini Countryman, pretty standard auto maintenance. After picking it up and driving a few blocks away, my check engine light turned on and I had multiple malfunction warnings for my ABS sensor and chassis stabilization. None of these are problems I had before taking my car in. Since I had only gotten a few blocks away, I immediately turned around and brought it back to ask them what was going on. They sent a mechanic to look at the problem. He came back a few minutes later (didn't even have the car lifted up to look at the real issue) and told me it was due to a completely unrelated repair I had done on my front left wheel hub by a different shop a few weeks prior and that I needed to talk to him about it. After working with the previous shop, the sensors were still malfunctioning. To help get clarity on the situation, I decided to take it to the Mini dealership to get a full inspection on the situation. The dealership showed me that the sensor that was malfunctioning was not in the front left tire as Reliable Auto had told me, but was actually in the back right tire. The sensor was broken because it was never plugged back in after the brake pads were replaced, causing a tear in the wire. No one else had worked on this wheel in the past year except for Reliable Auto. I took my car back to Reliable and explained what happened. They said they would be willing to fix the problem and replace the sensor for free since it was broken due to their mistake. This morning they had my car and told me they replaced it. However, 10 minutes after driving off, the same warnings and lights came on - making it clear they did not do the replacement correctly. Not to mention, they did not top off the brake fluid, the brake pads look rusty, and they sound like they are rubbing when I am releasing the brakes. To sum up - Reliable Auto did not do a standard brake and rotor replacement correctly. They left the ABS sensor unplugged, allowing it to brake, then blamed it on an unrelated repair done by a different shop. They told me they would fix it after bringing it to their attention that it was, in fact, their fault. But their "fix" did not change anything. I feel taken advantage of because of my lack of mechanical knowledge and will never bring my car back here. read more

Ok...like most other reviewers said...service was quick and friendly for oil change and inspection. But one major factor dictating while I will not go back is they don't refill your other fluids!! That's a first for me. I can do it myself but that's kinda the point of paying someone else. My washer fluid is bone dry so I gotta spend a little more time and money to finish the process. If the oil change had been cheaper than say jiffy lube who does it all then I'd understand. Oh well...just keep that in mind. Update: after I left my car was leaking oil...paid another thirty bucks to replace the screw on my oil pan. Then see pics for the lack of giving a shit! read more

Oil was quick. But... Went to start my car that has never had a problem before and it wouldn't start. They killed the battery and blamed it on me. Wouldn't charge it and were extremely rude about not knowing what to do, Bulls hit excuses and cited legal options for the car to be removed at there whim. All I wanted was to pick up a car that was perfect before taking it in and drive away with an Oil change. Eventually another guy drove around the block with me and made sure it started, admitting his guys should have never said what they did and it was there fault for draining the battery. Also their is organization of how they are handling customers is crazy and made me not trust the advice they were going. Never going back! Beware. read more
