Hands down my favorite place for a car inspection. They're very honest and fast. If your car needs something repaired for inspection, they'll handle it inexpensively and on the spot. This is by far the most professional, trustworthy, quality, and affordable mechanic shop I've ever been to. I've been going directly to the dealership's certified mechanic shop my whole life, and I'm sure you've been able to tell the level of trust was never great, but it's significantly declined in recent years. Now, all the manufacturer's are just trying to squeeze as much money as they can possibly get away with. This is one of the many areas where Reliable Auto shines. From the beginning to the end they are helpful. insightful, don't rush you, make you feel like family, and are completely up front with you about everything. They will take the time to explain things if you have questions. They don't talk down to you or make you regret even asking. I'll be taking all my auto-work to them from now on. Nestled between Shepherd and Durham, just a bit north of the Katy Fwy., this place is easy to miss because it's not easy on your eyes. Just look for all the U-Hauls in the adjoining lot, which is theirs, and you are at the right location. At first, I said "Ugh", it looks busy, but I didn't realize that most of the people were there to rent U-Hauls. After entering the business, a little sign asks you to put your name on a clipboard if you want service (Inspection sticker or oil change). I was only 2nd in line after all, and the wait was short. They do have a system, and the owner (or manager?) is very friendly. No extra charges, other than a small fee for paying by credit card and I was in my way. Went back like 3 times for inspection... first time they told me to drive it a certain millage, so I did after getting the things fixed and the check engine came back on! Got it fixed and drove it again for 300 miles just to make sure! May car is matte and they said they couldn't pass it because of the lights and tint, something that was never addressed the two previous times, out of all the times I've gotten tickets or other inspections never had it been and issue! He showed me where the waiting room was and there was another helpful guy there too. He asked me what I needed to get done and gave me helpful options on what would be best for my truck. The max time I waited was 25-30 min, and granted that I was getting both my inspection and oil changed. It ended up being around $64. I get out of my car and a garage employee greets me with "What do you want?" Already not feeling it. I had called and asked if they had time for an AWD alignment. I walk in the office with another customer present and I'm told to sign in. I sign it and said I need an all wheel alignment and an oil change. The employee doesn't even ask me what oil I want or what type they carry. I asked their employee. 3 hours later, I am out of a work meeting and I have missed calls. They called to "tell me all the wheels needed an alignment." That's cool. I dropped it off for that and you've only done the front? I specified i needed all 4. So 3 hours after I had an awful taste in my mouth and most of my morning gone thinking I have all my chores done, false. These people are liars and awful to do business with. You can actually trust them to tell you which maintenance you may or may not need I came here with 3 repair requests that I was told I needed by dealer. Brakes, oil, spark plugs. Reliable autos told me that brakes, oil, and spark plugs were good for at least another 15k+ miles, after which I should get them checked again. Honestly if it wasn't for the guy who inspected my truck taking my loose change I would have left a 5 star review. I witness the lady at the desk do an amazing job of handling every customer that came in with quick and amiable service. But once I returned to my vehicle I discovered the change that was left in MY cup holder was no longer there I quickly changed my opinion of this place. Needless to say the total amount of coins taken was insignificant for me to have made a big deal it was more of the integrity of their employees. I would not recommend this place unless you are willing to forgo your stuff being taken. Rather than force me to buy a new battery they told me about the secret code in my glovebox that would make my stereo function again after battery revived. I was sent here for a uhaul pick up. First off their address is wrong and took me to a different area. Then I showed up to the address I got from them when I called to figure out where they were located and their place had a sign on the door saying to go down the street. Then they processed my uhaul and couldn't find the keys!!!! Then gave us a different one and Just told us to go find it... the key didn't work on any uhauls on the lot so I had to go back in and they said I was wrong until one of the workers realized that uhaul wasn't even on their lot! THEN. They had to re process me into another uhaul... absolutely horrible service! read more

I will never come back here. I took my car here to have the brake pads and rotors replaced on my 2013 Mini Countryman, pretty standard auto maintenance. After picking it up and driving a few blocks away, my check engine light turned on and I had multiple malfunction warnings for my ABS sensor and chassis stabilization. None of these are problems I had before taking my car in. Since I had only gotten a few blocks away, I immediately turned around and brought it back to ask them what was going on. They sent a mechanic to look at the problem. He came back a few minutes later (didn't even have the car lifted up to look at the real issue) and told me it was due to a completely unrelated repair I had done on my front left wheel hub by a different shop a few weeks prior and that I needed to talk to him about it. After working with the previous shop, the sensors were still malfunctioning. To help get clarity on the situation, I decided to take it to the Mini dealership to get a full inspection on the situation. The dealership showed me that the sensor that was malfunctioning was not in the front left tire as Reliable Auto had told me, but was actually in the back right tire. The sensor was broken because it was never plugged back in after the brake pads were replaced, causing a tear in the wire. No one else had worked on this wheel in the past year except for Reliable Auto. I took my car back to Reliable and explained what happened. They said they would be willing to fix the problem and replace the sensor for free since it was broken due to their mistake. This morning they had my car and told me they replaced it. However, 10 minutes after driving off, the same warnings and lights came on - making it clear they did not do the replacement correctly. Not to mention, they did not top off the brake fluid, the brake pads look rusty, and they sound like they are rubbing when I am releasing the brakes. To sum up - Reliable Auto did not do a standard brake and rotor replacement correctly. They left the ABS sensor unplugged, allowing it to brake, then blamed it on an unrelated repair done by a different shop. They told me they would fix it after bringing it to their attention that it was, in fact, their fault. But their "fix" did not change anything. I feel taken advantage of because of my lack of mechanical knowledge and will never bring my car back here. read more

The wait was longer than I expected (~30 mins), but this is literally a one-man shop where he also rents U-hauls on the side. Emissions is pretty straightforward, so I am happy to have it done quickly. He charges $2 for credit/debit/check transactions, so beware of that. The place really isn't much to look at. There is a little office with a window A/C trying to keep us cool. Good job to him for keeping the place going. Once your car is being checked, it's only a few mins. If there's ever anything wrong with your vehicle they let you leave with no charge so you can get it fixed. They have never once tried to get me to fix it there. They are a garage also. Ok...like most other reviewers said...service was quick and friendly for oil change and inspection. But one major factor dictating while I will not go back is they don't refill your other fluids!! That's a first for me. I can do it myself but that's kinda the point of paying someone else. My washer fluid is bone dry so I gotta spend a little more time and money to finish the process. If the oil change had been cheaper than say jiffy lube who does it all then I'd understand. Oh well...just keep that in mind.
