The options somehow felt both limited and all over the place at the same time. Not many frappes, and nothing that made me think, I have to try that. So I asked the barista what he'd recommend. He pointed one out and was friendly enough, but he also seemed mildly irritated that I was a first timer ordering in the drive thru, like I was somehow holding up the line...except there wasn't a single car behind me. I also grabbed one of their pastries. He took my card, asked if I wanted it heated up, I said, "Yes, please," and then disappeared to, I assumed, make my drink. Then I waited. And waited. Ten minutes later I'm literally trying to peek through the drive thru window because...WTF? I ordered an iced coffee and a pre-made pastry. There were two baristas casually walking around, nobody inside except people already drinking their coffee, and the place wasn't busy at all. Finally, another barista came to the window with my drink and said they were "just waiting on the pastry." At this point I'm thinking...are they back there milling the flour and rolling the dough themselves? Five more minutes go by. She finally hands me the pastry...still in the container from whatever bakery actually made it. And it's cold. So basically all they had to do was grab it off a shelf and hand it to me. By the time I drove away, most of the ice in my coffee had already melted. Even watered down, though, it was just...bland. The coffee itself wasn't robust at all, and I couldn't really taste the coconut flavor that was supposed to be the specialty of the drink. The bearded guy who took my order never came back, either. Maybe he got pulled away, maybe he didn't, but it honestly felt like he just couldn't be bothered finishing my order. The whole experience was just disappointing. The flavors, the customer service, and a 15-minute wait for an iced coffee and a grab-and-go pastry when the place wasn't even busy? Hard pass. I drive all the way from Gibsonville to Mebane now just to get coffee from The Habit, and it's worth every extra minute. Better atmosphere, friendlier service, and honestly...just way better coffee.

The Halo Halo here cost $10+, the most expensive Halo Halo we ever purchased. For a mediocre blend, it's quite a joke to set this kind of dessert at that price. We would happily pay $10+ more if this Halo Halo was made extra special with more loaded ingredients or a taller serving, but there's nothing special in Tea-Rex's version. The Halo Halo was served to our table in front of the Pork & Spoon concession instead of us having to pick it up from the concession, so we appreciate Tea-Rex's customer service. Burlington Food Hall seemed to have a nice casual dining space to enjoy food but its layout of the shops is questionable. We had to go to the back area of the building to find Tea-Rex and the few other spots while Pork & Spoon is very visible in the front area of the hall. We haven't tried any of Tea-Rex's milk teas & other desserts but from what we've seen in its concession, the milk teas look quite generic. Pork & Spoon referred us to them when we asked if they offered Halo Halo, which I thought was a good teamwork between the two shops in Burlington Food Hall. Sadly, neither shops gave us a good reason to revisit this new food hall. I will publish my review of Pork & Spoon soon. As for Tea-Rex NC, their Halo Halo was just disappointing. We rather get the $8+ Halo Halo in the Oriental Store in Raleigh, but that's another story. | Overall Score: 2.0/5

They had lots of fun halloween coffees as well as delicious homemade desserts. It's also a great environment to get work done if you want to work from home. Kept it simple--nitro cold brew and an iced Bear Claw with almond milk. First off, that nitro was clean as hell. Smooth, no bitterness, and the fact that it's naturally sugar-free without sacrificing flavor? That's a win all day. The Bear Claw was solid too--nice balance with the almond milk, not overly sweet, just easy to enjoy. And one thing I really respect--their whipped cream is always sugar-free. That's huge for me living a sugar-free lifestyle, and it shows they actually think about their customers. Best part though, out of nowhere, both the barista and I looked up and boom... line out the door. We kind of just looked at each other like "well damn," and honestly, good for them. That's what happens when you're doing things right. Even with the rush, everybody kept a great attitude. Customers, staff; just good people all around. That small-town Burlington feel is real here. Folks talking, connecting, or just chilling on the couch doing their own thing--no pressure, no weird energy, just a genuinely cool environment. And this place actually feels welcoming. Not that forced "too cool" coffee shop vibe you sometimes get. Just real people, treating you like a normal human being. That goes a long way. Also worth calling out... So their rewards program is legit. You get 10 points for every dollar you spend, and it adds up fast. I've already built up enough where I could knock about half off my bill if I wanted to. That's real value, not just marketing fluff. It's got that perfect mix of small-town vibe with modern convenience, and I really hope that never changes. This has been a consistently solid spot for me, and I'll keep coming back!

On my last visit to PRESS, I had the seasonal Blue Ridge crepe ($16.50), which was excellent -- a savory, blue-tinged shell filled with a great combination of sweet maple syrup-glazed ham and tangy granny smith apples and topped by a scrambled "hurricane-style" egg and a spicy maple mustard drizzle. YUM! The beverage menu at PRESS is equally impressive, featuring everything from made-to-order hot and cold coffees and tea-based beverages to a carefully curated cocktail list. I really enjoyed the soy maple pecan latte.
