I had high hopes for this place because a friend highly recommended it and even gave me a stamp card for a free drink. First impressions? Nothing on the menu really jumped out at me. The options somehow felt both limited and all over the place at the same time. Not many frappes, and nothing that made me think, I have to try that. So I asked the barista what he'd recommend. He pointed one out and was friendly enough, but he also seemed mildly irritated that I was a first timer ordering in the drive thru, like I was somehow holding up the line...except there wasn't a single car behind me. I also grabbed one of their pastries. He took my card, asked if I wanted it heated up, I said, "Yes, please," and then disappeared to, I assumed, make my drink. Then I waited. And waited. Ten minutes later I'm literally trying to peek through the drive thru window because...WTF? I ordered an iced coffee and a pre-made pastry. There were two baristas casually walking around, nobody inside except people already drinking their coffee, and the place wasn't busy at all. Finally, another barista came to the window with my drink and said they were "just waiting on the pastry." At this point I'm thinking...are they back there milling the flour and rolling the dough themselves? Five more minutes go by. She finally hands me the pastry...still in the container from whatever bakery actually made it. And it's cold. So basically all they had to do was grab it off a shelf and hand it to me. By the time I drove away, most of the ice in my coffee had already melted. Even watered down, though, it was just...bland. The coffee itself wasn't robust at all, and I couldn't really taste the coconut flavor that was supposed to be the specialty of the drink. The bearded guy who took my order never came back, either. Maybe he got pulled away, maybe he didn't, but it honestly felt like he just couldn't be bothered finishing my order. The whole experience was just disappointing. The flavors, the customer service, and a 15-minute wait for an iced coffee and a grab-and-go pastry when the place wasn't even busy? Hard pass. I drive all the way from Gibsonville to Mebane now just to get coffee from The Habit, and it's worth every extra minute. I was so happy my travels led me here! I love this coffee shop, but I'm not often in the area so I don't get to stop by as much as I would like. They have a new cereal drink lineup and it didn't disappoint. They do have drive-through service if you're not able to physically go in the staff is always so helpful with drink recommendations. Stopped by while running some errands for a mid afternoon pick me up and the Daily Grind was perfect. Super nice staff and great selection of drinks. I am so happy to have found this little gem. I searched for coffee shops on the way to Winston and found this tucked away right off the highway less than a mile away. Located in a strip mall by Walmart, once you go inside, the decor transports you into a tranquil oasis perfect for working, meeting a friend for coffee, or enjoying one of their many offerings on a solo date. Starting with their chocolate croissant--WOW. Really happy with their to-go containers, too. Their seasonal lattes are many, along with their many offerings around the year. My Queen ordered iced Toasted Coconut Latte, which is a blend of coconut syrup, shots of espresso with milk of choice. I ordered the iced Dirty Thai Latte, which is described to be a blend of "house-batched Thai tea, sweetened confensed milk, 2 or 3 shots of espresso, touch of milk, topped with house-made whip. Both beverages are under the "Summer Specials" section of The Daily Grind's menu and can also be served hot; sadly, there's nothing special about these drinks. We ended up paying around $16+ for both drinks (with $1 tip included). The Dirty Thai Latte mixed with shots of espresso sounds like a unique idea, a rare kind of drink that only true coffee/tea connoisseurs could create, but instead, what I tasted was a failed experiment. The drink did not taste like authentic Thai tea; it lacked flavor and tasted watery. The blend with the coffee is a disaster, and for the first time ever, I ended up throwing my drink at home, unfinished, only consuming about 35% of it. I also could not taste the condense milk that it's supposed to have. My girl's drink was a bit better compared to mine - which isn't really saying much. She also did not finish hers but she drank more than me. I took a couple of sips of her drink, and while I could taste the coconut flavor from the syrup, this latte lacked the toasty flavor we got from Common Grounds at downtown Apex (see my 5-star review of that). It also tasted watery and lacked the bold richness we expect from a high quality coffee. As for the ambiance, it's a small space inside; we don't mind small coffee shops as long as they have a nice, chill vibe. While the interior looks well-lit and clean, the chairs & tables outside look uncomfortably flimsy. Who would want to chill outside there? An ideal coffee shop is supposed to recharge, revitalize, and re-energize us before we get back to our "daily grind" but disappointingly, this place failed to provide that experience in our quick visit. | Overall Score: 0.2/5 read more

The shop was decorated inside for Valentine's Day. There's a small parking lot outside the shop and the place also has a drive thru. I ordered the matcha iced latte with peppermint and it was perfect, loved that I could actually taste the matcha even thru the peppermint flavor. I AM OBSESSED with this Local Burlington coffee shop, so much so that for the first time in my life I have made it through a punch card!!!! I am looking forward to my free coffee on my next visit!!! I have been to this coffee shop just about every week since discovering it and sometimes twice a week! I've had just about EVERY SEASONAL DRINK between fall and now (Valentine's menu) and haven't had a drink miss yet! Honestly couldn't tell you which one has been my favorite because all the drinks, hot, cold, shaken, coffee, and matcha have been sooooo good! If I had to pick I would say the seasonal strawberry matcha has been a fave (I've gotten it multiple times this season)! My husband has also learned (without me telling him) that if he wants to surprise me in the morning to grab me a drink from here before work!!! The staff is super sweet and love that all of their ingredients are local, they have local business cards, and also sell local items. This is truly a BUY LOCAL HOT SPOT. Also, I can't forget to mention THE VIBES of this shop. I never put flavor because I like coffee. It tasted like a dirty and watery glass of milk. I'm sure if a bunch or whipped cream, some flavor, and 100g of sugar was added someone would find it drinkable and give this place 4 stars... but I would throw the drink in the trash just like I threw the drink I got in the trash. One of my co workers invited me for a sit down, the service was amazing as soon as you come through the door they were very helpful, I like the windows. I loved this place the second I walked in. Adorable interior, I would have sat all day if I had the time. Everything here is sourced locally. The menu looked great, and so did the pastries. They get them from cheesecakes by Alex. I ended up getting one of the specialty drinks, the Toffee Nut Cold Brew. The minute I took my first sip, I was hooked. I paid $8 minus tip for this drink. Yikes! The crew wasn't in the best of moods during the grand opening I'm guessing because they were consistently busy, and I completely understand... I was hoping to get a t shirt or something but the lady at the register looked frazzled and I didn't want to add any drama about a shirt. I tasted it after I left and it tasted very different from my first visit...and then I saw on my receipt that they added sugar instead of sugar free so I had to go back to get it fixed. They quickly remade it and all is good. Can't have sugar because I'm diabetic and I'll crash into a hypoglycemic episode. Not a big deal to many, but it is to me. Last thing I need is to pass out while driving or out and about because I was mistakenly given sugar. It happens. I understand and they did fix it immediately without any questions and I appreciate that. I went for the grand opening. I must have missed all the festivities because the vendors were packing up when I passed by at 2 and there wasn't anything happening inside the cafe either. I'll be back. I'll try to go when it's not as busy and maybe they'll have some of the adorable t shirts I saw on their Instagram page.
