These guys are great. We had to have our front porch replaced due to some rotting wood. Quiz's had replaced the back deck of one of our neighbors, so we saw first hand their quality of work, and they gave us a reasonable price. A couple of guys came out a few weeks before the job and replaced some of the rotted stairs with temporary ones for free just for safety sake. I don't know many companies that would do that for people. It took them less than two days to replace the porch, and they even came back out for some finishing touches afterwards. So I was contacted by the sale person who tried to convince me to change my review saying that he will lose his job. He said he would provide me a detail proposal to explain his outrageous original price. I didn't want to spend too much time looking through it but one thing did catch my eye. The kitchen. They were goIng to charge me $48,000 for a less than 100 sq ft kitchen. This is a new construction yet Demo was included in the quote. Hmmm. It was a pleasure to work with field manager Adi Aiish, who when we started this project held true to his promise to come back and fix any issues that may come up. I highly recommend GUB for two reasons: 1 All construction projects will encounter some unexpected hurdles and issues. I've learned this through my experience with GUB and also other companies. But what I am most concerned about is the willingness to resolve the issues. Adi promised me that on day 1 and even after 3 months following the completion of the project, they stood to that 100%. Not only did they own up, but they didn't make me jump trough loops and hoops to resolve the issues. 2 Communication with Adi was amazing! If you're like me that you want to stay involved with the project but not want to project manage, then you'll appreciate Adi's ability to keep you up to speed every day. At times I would get heated, but Adi was my Zen master through all this. Ground up builders is an immaculate firm for all your home improvement needs. My aunt wanted a backsplash and some work done in her kitchen. They came out gave her options on what she wanted showed pictures of other work they have done along the same lines of work and gave her a great bid. We called them back after a few days to go through with the project and the work was done in no time. We have since had non stop compliments from her friends and neighbors they love the upgrades her home is older so definitely an improvement! Terrible experience. They were hired for several projects. I have had to hire others to complete jobs that they did not complete adequately. My major problem now is a roof that I had replaced. There were no leaks before the job. It was a pricey roof (as compared to other estimates) but I figured that you get what you pay for -- so I had them replace it. Less that three years in (last year) the roof began leaking. The roofer came out and asked some inappropriate questions (about ownership). They put up plastic and then took five months before they "fixed." Since it was now summer I wasn't able to assess the fix. Additionally, I do not have dry wall. I have custom wood paneling throughout and it was difficult to determine damage. When the heavy rain came in December, we had leaks again and now I was able to see possible wood damage. They came out and "fixed again." Nothing said about the wood. It rained again and one of the original leaks came back. I have had to contact them two more times without follow-up. At this point, I feel "scammed." read more

Uzi man , Uzi was a life saver . I had Ground Up Builders gave me a bid on a kitchen remodel among other companies , I choose the cheaper company ( biggest mistake ) the nightmare start day 1 , not showing up , walking in and out with dirty shoes , banging walls , wrong material , worst complication you name it , half way into the project I said enough and stop the job . I originally began my search for a contractor to repair an old house in need of much repair. This was a house built in 1960, wood shake singles, severely weathered and water damaged from years of rain. Not only did the roof need replacement, but the electrical panel, insulation, and ceiling. My work van got broken into and I noticed a note on the window explaining there were quite a few of the bigger more expensive tools left behind, and this mysterious number I quickly called back. The voice on the other end explained the scene and his reasoning why he had my tools. He said "I work with tools for a living myself, and I know how badly youll be needing these." I'm giving two stars because the lady that came out was nice. I have a 1200 square foot home (stucco) one story exterior of home in very good condition (the lady made a comment about how well it was maintained). My father is a professional painter and I have done many jobs with him as well as quoted jobs with him for the company. Needless to say I know a bit about painting and associated costs. For that reason a fair price to paint my house I budgeted 3200-3500k and in my opinion this is in the high end. But we are in a pandemic and I know pieces are inflated a bit (so I took that into consideration) as well as time of year (labor is harder due to heat) I took all of these factors into consideration . The only thing this house needed was a pressure wash, the usual caulking prep work maybe some spot priming and of course the new paint. This company quoted me 15,000!!! When I heard this number did couldn't believe my ears. I let the lady finish her selling speech and went in the house and laughed so hard. Then I got a little angry. Coming from a family of painters this is completely unexplainable to (try) and rip people off like this. Shame on you! read more

With a large family you can only imagine how big our electricity bill is. Someone leaves a light on here a tv there we constantly run the a/c and I have family member that needs a sleeping device at night to help them sleep properly. After the bill kept escalating we decided to get someone to do an evaluation from ground up builders to see what we could do to save some money. Sean came over and went through all our electrical bills with us and we installed solar! With all the hype about it and the pricing we did not think it was something we could ever do. The bid jumped $1200. between a verbal and an email contract, Renege #1 At the start of the job I was going to get about 200 sq ft of imitation grass in front of the pool equipment, as a perk, Renege #2 At the start of the job they were going to fill out the paper work for the DWP rebate on the pool pump, Renege #3 After the demo I gave A $5,000 check per agreement, I was then told no further monies needed until completion, Renege #4 After asking the Supt Pete about 5 times and talking to the office personnel twice I was told she would email me the docs for DWP in a couple hours, that was 3 weeks ago, Renege #5 G.U.B. ordered sand, base material and a dumpster, pallets of cement, nosing and pavers and no one showed to direct the off loading, I caught it all before it was stacked in front of my garage door. And last but not least G.U.B. does not order out a chemical toilet for the job, they just expect the home owners to provide bathroom facilities, their words not mine. We used Ground Up builders to add 600 square feet to our vintage Craftsman bungalow. Uzi was very responsive and always available throughout the entire 8 month process. Our plans were not the best because we chose a crappy 'architect' (and I use that term loosely), causing a lot of extra work for Uzi and his crew. However Uzi always had a good attitude and a smile. He also put up with me not knowing what I wanted half the time, and was incredibly patient. In the end, our new master suite and brand new kitchen turned out fantastic and the flow is seamless from the old part of the house to the new. Even now, over a year later, if we have any issues Uzi is quick to address them and never asked us for more than our original bid.
