On Jan. 18, 2024, Grossman Imaging did an ultrasound of the veins in my right leg as ordered by Ms. Colman, FNP, for Dr Shahram Fatemi, MD of Dignity Health, St. Joseph's Hospital, Oxnard, CA. I had been complaining about pain in the back of my right knee. The Grossman Imaging ultrasound report, ordered by Ms. Colman, showed that I had a blood clot. Colman immediately put me on a blood thinner even after I told her I had low platelets. She referred me to my hematologist, who concurred that I should be on a blood thinner but at very high risk of bleeding because of my platelet problem.
Thank God, I had the sense to distrust this situation and consult my cardiologist, Dr. Khatore, who, when he saw the Grossman report, immediately said it was in error because the suspected clot was an ablated vein. Dr. Khatore quickly called Dr. Rosenberg, my hematologist, and advised him to stop my blood thinner treatment, which he did.
My hematologist, Dr. Rosenberg, who had now discounted the Grossman report, ordered another ultrasound with Palms Imaging. The redone scan resulted in a normal report. The Palms ultrasound technician commented that he knew the difference between an ablated vein and a blood clot.
I am now receiving PT for sciatica, which is the real reason I was having pain behind the right knee. The question I'm asking is why Ms. Colman didn't consult with Dr. Fatemi, who had my reports from Dr. Khatore, my cardiologist, showing my ablated vein, promptly rule out a blood clot and stop the dangerous blood thinner treatment? Ms. Colman said that they don't have any reports from my cardiologist. But you'd expect that she would say that. Only a subpoena of Dignity Health's server records would reveal the truth. I would expect that Dr. Fatemi should know I have ablated veins in both legs because these treatments have been going on for several years, with multiple reports all being sent to him and all being verified as being sent and received by Dr. Khatore's office.
It doesn't all end here. Dr. Fatemi has often complained of having to see 30 patients a day with Dignity Health. He is a good doctor I have seen for years with good results. However, in the last couple of years, Dignity Health has forced him to see more and more patients via Zoom and phone consults while limiting his in-person visits. He has been unable to be his best because of Dignity Health's mercenary management practices.
In summary, 1)Grossman Imaging's radiologist can't be trusted to correctly diagnose a blood clot, 2)Dr. Fatemi is not reading, nor does he have time to read his patients' charts and specialist reports before he allows treatment, and 3) Dignity Health is so concerned with its profits that it can't let its doctors have a patient load, allowing them to be doctors. It is not me that has the blood clot, but Dignity Health, resulting in a blockage at the primary and diagnostic levels. God help those with Dignity Health who can't advocate for themselves. They may suffer severely from the lack of proper medical care. read more
