I wanted to post an update to my review…read more I did rehome my dog that day that they tried to charge me a $55 no show fee. I didn't show because I didn't have the dog anymore. It's They are terrible people at this vet- don't even go there if you are looking for kindness, compassion, reason, human decency, and respect. So disrespectful, especially the front office staff- there's like two people that are absolutely horrible, not sure why they work there. They come across like they completely hate their job and hate humans, but perhaps they do love animals, but they really hate the caretakers over those animals.

My Maine Coon kitten was under treatment for some undetermined vestibular issues and suddenly…read morebecame very disoriented one morning. My local vet was on vacation so I called Salmon Brook in a panic and within the hour Thumper was at the facility in Granby. Dr Groshek performed a battery of tests and X-rays, and sent Thumper home with some oral and topical antibiotics, and long term steroid pills to treat what is suspected to be an inner ear infection, with suggested consultation with neurologist in a few weeks. Thumper has responded quite well to the prescribed medications, appears well on the way to full recovery, although it is a long process with this type of affliction. Neurologist at Pieper Memorial recommended continuing with the oral steroids and topical antibiotics, with another follow-up in a few weeks. I am eternally grateful that Salmon Brook was able to accommodate in such short notice and under these stressful circumstances. Dr Groshek was very knowledgeable and empathetic, and I found his subsequent lab reports very thorough. Treatment costs were high as expected given the extensive testing, but I highly recommend this facility for prompt and exceptional care.

I can't speak to the actual grooming but 0 stars for the owner's attitude. My dog came to get…read moregroomed and I let the receptionist know that he does not do well with other large dogs, that he's not aggressive but overly enthusiastic and it creates tension w other dogs. The staff at the groomer tried to put him in a temporary corral as opposed to a crate. I spoke up that this didn't seem safe for my dog because he could climb over or jump out (he's a large dog) and that I'd prefer him to be crated so he's safe from other dogs. Both the staff and the owner treated me like I was being unreasonable or some kind of jerk for not consenting for him to be kept in such a way. When the customer behind me asked what was taking so long I said I was waiting for them to have a crate for him bc he wouldn't be secure in what they suggested, the owner came out to tell me to stop talking bad about her employees. I'm not really sure if this was an off day for them or something but it was an incredibly negative interpersonal interaction and I won't be going back to this groomer. I also watched 2 dogs escape out the back door (which the owner told my husband I lied about). So: I waited about 7 mins to be checked in, rang the bell and watched utter chaos unfold in the back room. An electrician was working on a ceiling light above a corral w 2 small dogs. The electrician went to leave and the owner tried to move the corral to scoot it over to allow the electrician out the door but the dogs escaped under the corral and ran out the back door. The owner of Valley dog then went out the same back door you can see from their check in screaming for the dogs to get inside. Then several minutes later she finally addressed me waiting. This corral is (per both receptionists) is the same corral they wanted to use for my 100 pound dog. The owner tried to pack peddle and say that no, it wouldn't be the same corral but yes it's the same height and material and weight. Same corral. Overall a very negative experience and a huge waste of time. In addition the woman seemed exceptionally immature and unprofessional and then was talking about me to other customers. Update: the owner just called my husband and told him to take my review down. She also impotently threatened legal action if we refused. To the woman making this threat: feel free to pay your attorney to explain to you what's wrong with your behavior today. Do better. And telling my husband you're so tired of people taking their bad day out on you? No ma'am, honey it's you and your attitude, you're the problem.
