Grom was located in a very touristy area with lots of other gelato shops. It seemed like their prices and selection were fairly on par, although I would have liked to have seen some more oddball flavors. I went with the classic pistachio and hazelnut, neither of which disappointed, but neither of which were huge standouts either. The texture of the gelato was great, with just the right amount of stretch. The cone was actually one of the better ones I've had, nice and crispy with the right amount of sweetness. Overall, I enjoyed my visit. That being said, I believe Grom is a chain, and I would have preferred to get a more authentic experience at a local mom and pop gelato shop. read more

My non-vegan friends enjoyed the delicious options and I loved my Limone, which was 100% vegan and gluten free. They also offered Mango sorbet, Fragola, and Lampoon. My very first Italian gelato experience! Though I'm sure there are plenty of places better than Grom, this place will forever go down in my memory as the first time I tried gelato (2nd time in life) in Italy. If you've ever been to the Grom in NYC, you would know that it's WAY overpriced. So naturally, I expected it to be the same way here. To my surprise, it wasn't. They let you try whatever flavors you want at Grom. You can mix and match. A small cup (2.50 Euros) will get you two scoops - but since I was too tired to decide on two flavors, I went with just one. Espresso. Maybe subconsciously, I was hoping that the caffeine from the two scoops would give me some miraculous boost of energy. It tasted different from Grom NYC. But not particularly in a bad way. It just tasted less creamy/heavy, which I liked. I'm a fan! Next time I return Italy, I will deffo be hitting up Grom! read more

After visiting Italy twice, I finally tried the world's most famous gelato chain Grom, and can taste the hype! It's what a good gelato should be: smooth, creamy, and perfectly sweet. The problem? Although it's the same price as every other Grom branch despite being near Milano's biggest tourist attraction, Grom is nonetheless more expensive than regular gelato, and it's not that much better to justify the higher price. Ahh Grooom~ This is hands down the best gelato I have ever had. The first time I tried Grom was in Rome 3 years ago so I was overjoyed on my trip to Milan when I found out that they had a shop here as well! The gelato is absolutely heavenly and even their waffle cones are good too. They have all the classic flavors and some more interesting ones as well. I tried persimmon last time, which was fantastic but opted for pistachio instead this time, which was also delicious. If you are looking for the best gelato in Italy, definitely try out Grom. Oh Grom, how I love thee! Discovered Grom in Turin then found Grom in Milan to meet all my gelato needs. A fab chain and wonderful for being gluten free (senza glutine). All gelato and sorbets are gluten free, the waffle cones are too and even the biscuits they make are as well! I didn't eat gelato anywhere else as it was a safe place I knew I could have my choice of anything on the menu and love it. I even had chocolate gelato which I never have anywhere else - the Baci is amazing as is the nougat flavour too. I always opted for a large cone with three types of gelato - who needs lunch when gelato is this good and it was all fab. I couldn't find any difference in the taste of the gelato from one location to another. This was the second GROM location that I tried within a couple of feet from the famous La Scala theater. This one was a bit smaller than the location near Porta Ticinese, but same friendly people. I would argue that the gelato is worth waiting for. Wow our first Italian gelato experience didn't disappoint!! The fact that there wasn't too much choice of flavours was actually a bonus for me - I take forever deciding! So I opted for one of their classico flavours, pistachio. Boy was it good! The price is fairly reasonable, especially since we were close to the main square. It was very busy but they served u quickly and the staff were very friendly, especially the girl out front promoting their new peach flavour. I was sadly disappointed with Grom in Milan. It is strangely so much better in New York. The flavors were just not that exciting - especially the chocolates. The "crema di Grom" that everyone in queue seemed to order was very ordinary and its texture somewhat off-putting. The salted caramel was pretty good. In NYC, they have a dark chocolate gelato that is to die for. It was sadly not on the menu here. This store is popular at all hours with a cross-section of well-to-do Milanese. So it has its charms. The Gelato here was fantastic! We were looking for some Gelato at 10:30pm and we walked to this place from our hotel. We were thinking we would be the only people in the shop, boy were we wrong! There was a line almost out the door but it moved extremely fast. I would say the only downside is that I felt they didn't have a lot of variety of flavors. They only had four different tropical fruit flavors and a list of different chocolate and cafe flavors. But we were both extremely happy on what we got. Also a little tip, don't feel rushed to have to choose your flavor right away, you pay first then someone else will help you with your flavor choices. read more

So yum! I had cantaloupe flavored gelato, and guess what it tasted like? Cantaloupe! So needless to say, I was very pleased. The texture was superb and nothing less than I would expect from Italian gelato. There was a line when we got there, but it was well worth the wait on a hot summer day. read more
