Ciacco offers about 25 different gelato flavors -- and thankfully, the restaurant provides an English menu option for those like myself who know only the most basic of Italian terms. My wife and I tried four flavors between the two of us: ananas (pineapple), blood orange, pistachio, and stracciacella -- the first three were 5-star, delicious flavors, while the straciacella was disappointing (3 stars). While the staff was friendly and helpful (and they offer samples, which is great to try flavors, but it also slows the process a little bit), it is a popular spot, so prepare to wait for a few minutes before ordering. There is also limited seating inside, so between the few tables and the line waiting to be served, the storefront can get crowded. One extra benefit that didn't encourage me to visit but is a nice plus: Ciacco has a bathroom available for paying customers. read more

I came to this gelato place in Milan and regretted it. Service was awful- they were serving the customers with very rude attitude. I noticed they were replying to the customers with rude comments like "that is enough tasting", "you just tasted two times already", and they didn't want to explain to several of customers about what was in their gelato when customers asked. They seemed like they did not want to work or frustrated with customers. Customers were there to support their business and they asked to taste gelato before they buy them. I saw many consumers were frustrated with the servers. After observing their customer service, I decided to get Pistachio and Masa di cacao flavors. I did not like how they taste. I don't even think it was Pistachio because I didn't taste it at all. Cacao gelato was lacking of cacao flavor. Gelato was quickly melting when I started eating it. There were better places (real gelato) made from scratch. This place is a scam. I do NOT recommend their gelato. read more

If you see more than ten people waiting in line for gelato, get in that line. This was the case at Ciacco, and the wait was worth it. So often we go through life not forgoing our precious minutes in exchange for an unusually enjoyable, albeit brief, experience, but, when you get down to it, you'll never regret waiting in line for the best gelato you ever had. Ci passo spessissimo davanti a Ciacco e c'è sempre una fila lunghissima e scoraggiante, piena di turisti. Mi dicono che sia sempre in cima alla lista delle migliori gelaterie di Milano, quindi la volevo provare e oggi sono passato dopo pranzo e ho trovato una fila un po' più umana del solito, quindi mi sono accodato. È stato piuttosto veloce. Ho preso una coppetta da tre gusti con cioccolato, gianduia e pistacchio. Veramente molto buono anche se continuo a pensare che Rivareno sia migliore. Anche gli sfogliati della colazione e i caffè (anche speciali) sembrano molto invitanti. Non so se rifarei la fila, ma se siete in centro forse ne vale la pena. read more

At the end of my walking tour, I stopped in to Ciacco for a gelato and to rest my aching feet. A good selection of two dozen or so flavors and though many of them were posted on the board in Italian, it's not hard to work out what's what. I chose a small cup of pistachio which was scooped by a polite lady who rang up my sale. Tasty and refreshing, I enjoyed it and sat in the shop for about 25 minutes while my ibuprofen took effect. I had high hopes for this famous gelateria and I braved the long post-Christmas queue to find out if they were worth all the accolades. Although the prices seemed on the low side - €3 for two small scoops, €3.50 for three - I thought the gelato was very average. Vanilla, in San Babila, is not rated anywhere as highly, but the quality of the gelato was noticeably higher. read more

It was the first gelato place I went to when I landed in Italy and it set the bar high for the rest of my trip. It is the second best gelato during my whole trip. The pistacchio was rich and creamy and full of flavor. There is quite a line at most times but you usually don't have to wait longer than 15 minutes. read more

Rude staff; average gelato at best. I have had much better gelato in Rome, Florence, and Venice. The gelato was too soft, almost to the point it felt like soft serve consistency. My personal favourite ice-cream shop in Milan. It's the matter of taste. I find it rich, but still refreshing. Come there almost every day even in winter they make natural fresh ice-cream right there in their lab downstairs. Coffee tastes great too. read more
