JEFF's class is BEYOND FREAKING AMAZZZZEBALLLSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm a huge indoor cycling snob! I've tried classes at FlyWheel, CycleHouse, Aura Cycle, Full Pyscle, and Soul Cycle in NYC,LA, and OC. They are popping up everywhere! However, I'm a HUGE Soul Cycle devotee.... I still go to their L.A. studio whenever I get the chance (I've been to the new Newport Location--so far not a huge fan of their newer instructors). A friend of mine told me about Grit Cycle. I finally decided to give it a try! It is definitely more convenient since I live in OC. Personally, I compare everything to SoulCycle! What I look for are instructors that provide : good music, fast paced, challenging/motivating, variety, balance between coaching and music (sometimes too much talking annoys me), sweaty, high cardio, and FUN! This is what attracted me to Soul Cycle from the very beginning. Anyways, after asking Grit Cycle staff about some of the instructors I decided to take the Gritty 60 with Jeff!!! I was told he was pretty fast and a bonus was his class was 1-hour long!
O.M.G!!!!!!! Jeff's class is KILLLLER!!!!! His 60 minutes was no joke!!!! I mean that in the best way possible!
First off his music selection was AMAZING!!!!! I seriously loved EVERY song he played! Such a diverse mix, but it always had a good beat to ride to. I'm not sure if he has a musical background but he was on point the entire class, never missing a beat. Plus, he rode the bike for most of my class....which I love because I like to actually see the instructor on the bike!
Second, don't worry if you lack coordination or hearing the beat. I've taken tons of cycle instructors in the past and its really hard to find someone who truly knows how to countdown to the next move...Jeff did it with such ease. His timing was impeccable!!!
Third, he has a good balance between talking and letting the music speak for itself. Like I said I like good motivational talk, but there are times when I'm like "ssssh I want to hear Beyonce" on the speakers.
Fourth, he is definitely CHALLENGING and FAST! Reminded me of some of the NYC male instructors. I LOVED IT!!!!! I'm not a fan of slow-paced classes. He really kept pushing my limits, especially when he makes you add that resistance!
Fifth, although I was DRENCHED in sweat, he really makes you forget that you are working out. With the music going, the dark room (he does turn on blue lights occasionally) you really can just focus on you!
Overall, I honestly have to say I was quite impressed with Grit Cycle! Jeff is seriously equivalent, if not better than some of my favorite Soul instructors! Totally worth it! His class vibe was so effortlessly cool! That is something you can't teach someone to be. The class even applauded after his last song! I'm so happy I found this place. By far, one of the best instructors I've encountered. I'm also looking forward to trying the other instructors! The riders I talked to after class were all so friendly too. Btw, the studio gives cold scented towels at the end and their is a fruit bowl and an alkaline water machine!!!!! Check out Grit Cycle! read more
