My biggest pet peeve at a workout studio is when an instructor is not friendly. Walked in and was greeted by the friendly front office staff. We were all in the tiny lobby getting our grip socks on and the instructor did not acknowledge me. There was just 4 of us and a quick hello and introduction would've made a world of a difference. They advertise as being a community but I didn't find the instructor or the regulars to be friendly. The one time she did approach me was to tell me that cell phones weren't allowed in the studio. I was happy to turn it to flight mode but that was apparently against their policy. I was expected to keep it outside the class in doorless and lock less cubbies that are wide open for anyone to peek in. Ridiculous! The actual class was good. I have done pure barre before so knew what to expect. It is fast paced and instructions come at you quick. The instructor did come around to offer adjustments and help. In a Pure Barre class you aren't following an instructors movements but instead are being talked through the movements with verbal direction which can get confusing. They are a series of isometric holds and pulses which would be good to tone if you're already lean. I don't see this as a good fat burning option. This location is in Paseo 17 mall tucked away in the corner next to Miligram coffee house and the restrooms. The parking is free but make sure you park in the larger lot which doesn't have reserved spots.

The studio is inside this plaza!

Bought the $4 classpass offer and Pure Barre in Newport Beach was on the list, so I decided to go for it. I spent quite a while just circling the parking lot and at one point asking by standers where the studio was. Park at plaza sereno. The studio is hidden inside plaza sereno. As for the workout: I've been practicing barre for a year now, but maaaaaaan this is NO PLAY! The warm up was quick and short and we went right into abs. The instructor, Luci, was on point with her instructions and made sure my form was correct throughout the workout. I also love the fact that there was another instructor who was in the class and specifically for new students to look to for reference. The workout is for an hour and it left me sore. The focus more on the core, glutes, and thighs. Not so much on the arms, unlike the other barre studio I go to. The staff is warm and friendly, I am sore, the facility is very clean. I'm seriously thinking of becoming a member after this morning's experience!

Don't underestimate how much pain a little rubber ball can cause.

Honestly, if I could give a 6th star, I would. For any woman out there who has struggled to reshape her body, and has not tried a barre class, the $100/month new client packages is hands-down the best investment you could possibly make toward changing your body. I wish I had found this form of exercise 20 years ago!! I have always favored exercising alone, and hadn't been in a studio for a group exercise class since 1996. Taking the plunge and giving this studio a try is one of the best chances I've ever taken in my life. If you're a typical American woman, you know what it's like to live with incessant self-critique and frustration over not having the "idealized" body, which is usually that of a hipless, prepubescent girl. I cannot count the money I've invested in trying to get a fit body over the years: magazine subscriptions, gym memberships, diet books, metabolism-boosting supplements, exercise DVDs and weights. I've owned a treadmill, a NordicTrak, a PowerRider, and a half-dozen contraptions that were probably just repurposed sex gadgets, sold to desperate women like me who would try any exercise to look better. I've starved myself, punished myself with grueling exercise feats, tried numerous DVD programs, and even (yes, I'm admitting this) obtained a prescription for a specific antidepressant because I'd read it doubled as an appetite suppressant. I have been desperate to change the way I look for most of my teens and all of my adult life. Why am I writing this? IN THREE WEEKS OF PURE BARRE CLASSES, I CHANGED MY BODY MORE THAN 9 MONTHS OF P90X ROUTINES. For the first time in about 26 years, I really, REALLY am starting to like the way I look. There was a trunk show that came to the studio, and I thought that I might -- just might -- have whittled myself down to a size 27 jeans after 25 days of classes. I almost started to cry when I fit into a snug size 26!! I'm going to be 42 years old in about 6 weeks, and I have the best definition I've ever had in my entire adult life! The only regret that I have is that I didn't find this incredible studio sooner. I don't care about gyms with state-of-the-art equipment, TVs, locker rooms, or any of that. All it comes down to is this: Will this workout CHANGE my body in a way that it's never changed before? With Pure Barre, *absolutely*. The instructors are just wonderful, and the individual attention that they provide really makes a difference. If they correct you, it's a great thing! Not only are they insuring your form is better, but they WANT you to get the most effective workout that you can. Every routine is unique, which I really appreciate. I continue to be stunned at how minor variations can work my body in ways that create pain I didn't know I could push through. The staff at this location is really friendly and accommodating, and they promote the positive energy that you want to feel when coming to a studio. I was so blown away by the changes that I saw in just a month that I took the plunge to buy a year's worth of classes. It's not cheap, but it's fair: I really believe the price is commensurate with the quality of the instruction and the results. You don't have to believe this review. Just look around at the women who take the class. There are women who look incredible in every class -- but it's not intimidating, it's inspirational! They look great BECAUSE they stick with the class! All around, this is a first-class business and it's run by a great lady who genuinely wants to share her love of this exercise as way of life. I am recommending this studio to all the women I know. I don't know what rock I was living under not to have known about it for so long, but I am so, SO grateful I've found this wonderful studio.

This is the best workout i've had in a loooong time. Lift Tone Burn..... says it all, Its fast paced and tiring but the intense results are amazing in such a short time period. I've been recommending to all my friends these past few weeks. They are offering specials for the month of Feb. It can be spendy but when your getting such amazing results any price is worth it.. I feel like my butt has been lifted by 2 stories. My inner thighs are sculpted and I can actually hold a 90 sec plank and finish off with 10 push ups... all in less than 3 weeks time!

I really value understanding the correct technique so I thought this was a missed opportunity. The only reason I could understand how to correct myself and my form was because another instructor was taking the class with me so I would look at them when I was confused.
