The class sizes are small, which allows a more intimate setting, and it allows instructors to help guide you with proper form. All of the instructors are great, but I recommend Imani. She has an extensive background in dance, yoga, Pilates, fitness and overall body movement. She had a sweet, graceful demeanor and engaged in every person. She especially helped me correct my form with each exercise, and is an awesome teacher! Her class emphasizes core and strengthening/stretching the hips, lower back, shoulders, groin and abs. The staff are all so friendly and Pilates is a good tool to enhance your fitness goals, gain strength and gain a super strong core. This studio is awesome! It's beautiful and I love that they have rooms for privates and that even the reformers in the group classes have towers on the reformers. Skye is a true gem! She gives you a great workout, she's engaging, and she's likely the most experienced instructor I've had at any Pilates studio. She provides great advanced moves and modifications. I brought my boyfriend Max along (he's a tall muscular guy) and she adjusted his reformer and provided him with different spring settings so that he could also get the most out of his work out! I'm really disappointed with how this studio handled my recent booking. I attended a class here last week and enjoyed it enough to rebook with the same instructor. I made my reservation yesterday for today's 5:30 PM class using 4 credits through ClassPass. At 3 PM--just 2.5 hours before class--I received a cancellation notice and my credits were refunded. I understand that cancellations can happen, but what's frustrating is that when I checked the app again, the exact same class with the same instructor was still listed at the same time, now requiring 6 credits instead of the 4 I originally used. I've been using ClassPass as a trial to explore different Pilates studios in hopes of finding one to commit to long-term. I'm new to Pilates and was highly interested in making this studio my go-to spot. Had my experiences continued to be positive, I would have ended my ClassPass trial and signed up for a direct membership with them. Unfortunately, this experience felt misleading and disrespectful. If the cancellation was simply to reprice the class and not due to a legitimate reason--like an instructor canceling--it shows a lack of consideration for clients' time and planning. Last-minute changes like this impact trust. It ultimately cost them a potential loyal client. I won't be returning, and I hope the studio reconsiders how they handle bookings and pricing changes moving forward. Bianca B. was the instructor I booked with. Tried the Reformer x Bellicon class today. Darci was very patient and did a good job walking around the class helping students correct form and demonstrate form. The class featured both a reformer portion and a bellicon (trampoline) portion. Darci was real accommodating and even helped a new mom on a modified workout. A perfect class for beginners to intro the equipment and movement. The actual facility was nice and sanitary there are rental socks available as well as new socks to buy. read more

Wish I could say I had the chance to try this Pilates place. My friend and I bought the Groupon to try it out. Worst money I have ever spent. I called and left messages about booking a class, no one returned my calls. I text and finally got someone to text me back. They told me to go online and book a class. I tried that. Nowhere online did it say anything about a beginner class. I text again, no response. I drove over there a couple of times and studio was closed. Finally, my Groupon expired. Pilates on Purpose is a cute little Pilates reformer studio in central Newport. When arriving to their location, there is a decent sized parking lot, however be warned that during "lunch rush" there is a valet, so sometimes you need to park on the street to not pay. I have never had a problem finding a spot. The studio is tucked back on the ground floor. Definitely arrive early your first lesson because it isn't the easiest to find in the complex! The studio is super cozy, with around 8 reformer machines. The classes start usually a little after their start time because the classes are back to back 60 minutes. Meaning if you take their 5:30 class, the 4:30 class will not end until right at 5:30. It is great if you are chronically running a minute or two late. All of the instructors seem to really know their stuff! They are super knowledgeable and helpful with correcting your form. All of the teachers are extremely friendly and really take the extra step to get to know you. They will also probably chat with you and the fellow Pilates attendees during your class about what is going on in your life. It is a very open and friendly environment! What attracted me to the studio is they have so many different class times and instructors!! You can really book a Pilates class for anytime of the day practically. The only downside with this studio, is that it is more of a place for beginners. They rarely offer reformer 2 classes. The basic reformer classes almost always have a newbie or two and the exercises account for them. The exercises can be a smidge too easy for people who regularly practice 2/3 times a week. I would highly recommend this studio who is new to Pilates or is a beginner! read more

My first class ever at this spot was taken with Darci and she was awesome! She was patient and corrected my form when needed. Darci is amazing! Skye has awesome challenging classes. Every time I leave her classes I am SO sweaty and sore. But in a good way! Bianca has amazing classes, I go to her every Saturday AM and it's been consistent for a few months. Without her class on a Saturday morning, it doesn't feel right! Dilara is also an amazing instructor, I've been to a few of her classes and I love them so much!!! It was my first class of Pilates today to which I was very excited for when I found this cute little studio! Yet my experience with Julianne wasn't the best, it was a class of six in the first half of the class. For it being my first class, I was a bit confused in some of the positions we were told to do. In one case we needed to add the box to the platform, while trying to watch her as I position it. Jess said " not that way, you wouldn't be able to sit in the inside of the box would you". As she said that, she kept mumbling things to herself. I just felt like the remark wasn't necessary and overall made my experience not enjoyable. read more

A well equipped studio in a comfortable commercial building. Instructor Skye is knowledgeable and patient, and also firm in her commitment that the student get the most out of each session. There is a small group room with 5 Pilates machines and a private room with a machine called "the Cadillac". If Pilates is something you choose to pursue, this place should be on your list. Being a lifelong athlete, I was always hesitant to start Pilates because I didn't think it was "man enough". Boy was I wrong. Not only is the workout strenuous but it is done safely and with correct form. What a great studio! This was my first true experience with pilates- and being close to 50 I was a little concerned I wouldn't be able to catch on. Stacy and Deva were fantastic !!! They both helped me keep up with the class- and modified along the way. My other experience with pilates was not positive- this was awesome. I felt in each class I got a full body workout. I hate to do this because I never ever leave reviews, especially bad ones but I have never experienced something like this and wanted to share so it can be fixed in the future. I had a reformer class with Skye and the class was only 3 people total. She was extremely condescending when speaking to us and made numerous rude comments. I have been doing pilates for some time now and all the instructors everywhere i've been are over the top nice and helpful. Skye was on another reformer machine doing the workout so instead of helping us with our forms, she was too focused on her own workout. Another girl in my class was a beginner so she was a bit confused on the movements and at one point skye said "you guys need to listen to my vocal cues i'm not going to keep repeating them" in a very rude way which caught me off guard. Most instructors would have come over and helped us reposition ourselves to correct the movement but instead she stayed on her machine and just said rude comments. At one point I know that i was doing the move completely wrong and was very confused but she never helped me. I truly hate to leave a review like this especially because the other instructor or possibly the owner who walked in after us was extremely kind. Skye just seemed annoyed at us the entire time. I'm disappointed because the location is such a good area and very well taken care of. If it weren't for this specific instructor i would have rated it 5/5 :( read more
