Coast Cycle is not only a great cycling studio, but one of the hands down best fitness class studio experiences I've ever had. The care they have for the class-goer's experience is evident.
When I wanted to learn more about how to prepare for my first class, I gave the studio a call. The girl I talked to was very kind and helpful.
Located on PCH, you can park on the resident streets behind it. I'm sure that can get tough at certain hours/on certain days. However, for my Saturday morning class, there was ample space.
When you walk in, there was a nice girl at the front. She helps you fill out your waivers, lets you know your assigned bike number, and asks for your shoe size. For your first class, you are able to borrow a pair of their clip-in bike shoes for free. For future visits, they wrote that it's $3 a class on ClassPass. There is a wall of cubbies for your belongings, and benches to change out your shoes. There was also a changing room, mirror, and plenty of complimentary items you may need (deodorant, hair ties, mints, etc.).
Entering the studio, you will get that beloved darkness + UV lighting that these sorts of cycling classes have. There is an extra person there helping you adjust your bite and clip in with your shoes. He stuck around for the first several minutes of class to make sure everyone was okay.
Another highlight was the instructor. I swear, cycling instructors are like DJs + stage lighting specialists + athletes. Our instructor was so energetic and talented, giving us instructions that were easy to follow while making numerous light and music changes. He led us through a session that was empowering/exhilarating, sweat-inducing, but not crazy enough to be impossible to follow/keep up.
At the end of the class, the girl at the front brought out essential oil cooling towels. When that happened, I was like, "Wow! This is truly a first class experience!" read more
