A coworker and I swung by this TexMex restaurant for lunch recently. It had been several years since I'd been to Gringos, but I remember it being solid TexMex. We had a lovely time, and I was quickly reminded that this isn't jus one of the many TexMex spots it's the Houston area, but it's one of the better ones The restaurant is appealing and inviting from the outside. There's plenty of parking, a to-go station, covered patio seating, and plenty of seating inside The staff were great. We were greeted upon arrival and promptly sat at a table of our choosing. It wasn't completely packed, but much of the restaurant was full, yet we still had our pick of booth vs table vs bar etc We were provided complimentary chips and salsa. Both salsas are great, but the green one is creamy, packs a little heat, and is just delicious The menu offers pretty much all your signature TexMex meals from tacos, burritos, fajitas. Bowls, enchiladas, salads, soups, and many many more. There is a fully stocked bar with all sorts of beer and other drink options The food was terrific, and the display was exceptional. Everything was plated so well, and there were little touches here and there that showed they set they bar just a little higher Some tips: Join the Gringos TexMex insider club/reward loyalty program. We arrived around 11:30 yesterday during lunch rush hour and got seated immediately. Diana was our server and very attentive to us. Diana took our order within minutes, margaritas and drinks served fairly quickly. She suggested their citrus tea, which was good but very sweet. I opted for the mango unsweetened tea and it was refreshing. The food did take a bit longer, but understandable. We usually go to their other restaurant, Jimmy Changas. me and my boyfriend went out for mexican food so we came here, i ordered these chicken taquitos and they were good, but i took a bite mid eating and found a bone that was the size of a paper clip!!! didnt even realize until it hit my teeth real hard. the damn the salsa was extremely salty. No tip plus 0/10. idk HOW people still go to this place this is the second time i had bad food here!! read more

I came in to Gringos at 8:15pm and they were shutting the place down. I ordered one drink and at 8:20pm and was presented with the check before I had a chance to order food. Gringos is just Turning more into a trash restaurant that does not consider their customer service. I'm going to find a new place and recommend people do the same. I think my mistake was expecting their taco salad to be on par with the enchiladas or their fajitas- not in terms of taste obviously, but in terms of quality. I ordered a beef taco salad (to-go) that came in a less than crunchy shell, but the real miss was the meat: I've had more meat in a crispy side taco than was served on this entire entree. The flavor was fine, but in the end, I paid 15$ for shredded lettuce and a stale shell. Props on the margarita vinaigrette. Also the food was nicely assembled and packed for pick up. But ultimately, lesson learned. If I come again, it'll be on cheat day for enchiladas and a margarita. Gringos has not invested the same energy in their lighter fare. read more

We love Gringo's for birthday celebrations. We've celebrated our Grandchildren's birthdays here since 2014. Everyone can get something they like. pawpaw can get a beer with his dinner. And ice cream, always after but sometimes before dinner. read more

Danielle the bar tender is the BEST server I have ever had. She's so attentive and very nice!

Some of the best Tex-Mex I have ever had at any price, however, very affordable. They have a great selection, both of food and at the bar. The service is top-notch. With few exceptions the noise level is very acceptable. If possible, get there early to beat the rush. Great tasty food where you can't go wrong with any menu item. I have never had anything bad at Gringo's just some food greater than others. The atmosphere is always Plesant along with their servers. I will never, I repeat, I will never order a take out from here ever again. I think I made it clear enough. This was an order for 4 to be had at the end of a business meeting. I said 12:15 NOT 11:45. The delivery lady wasn't sure if she had the right number of orders. The worse part is that substitutes were made without anyone from the restaurant asking. We love gringos and it is our go to. Everything is always fresh and delicious. The service is usually quick and the ambiance is upbeat.

Stopped in for a quick bite on my way to the Southwest side of Houston. I haven't been to this location in a few years, but it's as good as it ever was! I ordered the Taco dinner with rice and beans, while my friend ordered the Burrito dinner with beef and rice and beans. We were both happy with our meals and times our visit just right because it got really crowded about the time we were ready to leave with people waiting to get in. Always a great place for Mexican Food and it's still a great location to stop at. I frequented the Texas City location more often as it was closer than this one, but you can't go wrong at any Gringo's!!!! Cannot go wrong here. Never had any real issues and the food is usually just fine. Prices can get up there real quick, but, it's okay. It is a popular spot so it can get crowded on weekends. I do enjoy their curbside option for pickup as well. read more

Gringo's has changed. We went for an early dinner today to avoid Valentine Day crowd. The food was good as always, but service was sadly lacking. We were seated right away, but took a couple minutes before a server took our drink order and brought chips, salsa & dip. The problem is we had to wait several minutes after she brought 1 glass of water before she brought a soda. Then wait again before she took our order though we were ready earlier. Then she brought part of my husband's order & rushed away without explaining why she only brought part of order. We waited over 20 minutes & manager stopped at table. We explained problem and he took care of it immediately. I doubt we will return. We noticed that not one server was smiling, too. One of the things we always liked about Gringo's in the past was friendly, smiling service. Today I felt like we were an inconvenience at best! read more

Best Texmex food I've ever had conveniently located close to our home. They have Gluten-free enchiladas which are delicious. My husband always gets the shrimp and we remind them not to overcook every time and they follow our requests every time. Waitress was awesome its just a shame we couldn't leave a bigger tip .. we come to Gringos every so often to treat ourselves we can't afford to go out to eat much we always get the same thing Fajitas Veracruz.. no beans extra rice & we have 1 alcoholic Bevevy a piece usually the Margaritas with silver patrons added .. this used to cost us apx 65.00 plus we tip fairly decent .. I didn't bother looking at the menu to order which is my fault ik .. this time we ordered Fajitas Veracruz .. no beans extra rice .. I had marisco sauce which didn't set well so our fabulous Waitress had them redo my Fajitas without the sauce .. also ordered sopapilla & we both had TEA .. when the bill came like to fell off my chair $80.00.. I. Sorry but that is outrageous .. maybe I'm just becoming Penny pinchy.. but wow I felt so badly not being able to tip our Waitress more than what we did she was so great .. if you read Gringo reviews sweetie I'm sorry we couldn't tip more .. pretty sure I'm not going bk to Gringos after that experience I just can't afford to . read more

The food here is reliably fine, the staff and service - not so much. We were met by a hostess who was much more interested in performing chiropractic techniques than seating anyone. She popped her neck, did a few back twists and finally acknowledged the several groups of families stacked up in the entry. We were taken our seats where there were several water puddles on the bench. This was not residual dampness from wiping the seat, this was a spill. I asked if we could get it wiped down and the young waitress simply said that was from where the seat was cleaned. So I asked a second waitress if we could have the seat wiped. She returned with a large wad of paper towels and handed them to us. At that point we wanted to let the management know but after standing there for 5 minutes, no one could find one. A young lady came out and politely listened and apologized. I appreciate that but we did leave. As we left, the crowd in the foyer was even bigger but three three girls crowded around the podium were busy giggling and gossiping without even acknowledging the families waiting.
