I usually eat at the River Oaks location, which is great. This location should go and take notes. I walked in and there was no one at the hostess stand, I probably stood there 5 minutes before anyone even came to check and see if there were any customers. We were a party of four and sat in the bar area. All the tables around us were covered with dirty dishes. I asked the person who sat us if the other part of the restaurant was cleaner and she said no. I asked her why and she stated the busser had been pulled to the back. I rarely ever make reviews because I really don't like confrontation but my experience today was wild. My fiancé and I decided to come to this location and we were very excited because we were craving Chuy's. We got there at 1:28 and were sat down immediately. My issue however was that we sat for between 20-30 minutes without one person stopping to ask if we have been helped. When a woman finally came she told us someone else would help us so we waited about 5 more minutes and still no one. I can give the benefit of the doubt if they were super busy but it was like a ghost town. 30 minutes just sitting with no one stopping for us was wild to me. We had two more families sit after us and they were given drinks and their food was placed and still no one came. We came to iguana joes (that of whom is so much busier) instead and we're sat immediately and we have only been here for 10 mins and we have our drinks and food is on the way. One of my girlfriends told me about this place. So a few friends and I went, it was 5pm when we arrived. It took about 5-7 minutes for a server to greet our table. The place was empty though... She stared at my friends ID for a good 2 minutes like she was confused or something, when my friend is clearly of age. Just not the best vibe. Guess you get mediocre service when you look young. Food was trash. We ordered nachos as an appetizer, asked for extra cheese, those took about 20 minutes and came out looking burnt like they'd be sitting under a heat lamp for awhile. Really sad portions of rice and grease soggy chuychanga. Disgusting. I ordered to go and the girl at the to go counter gave me a nasty look when I asked for more than one tiny side of salsa. I had already paid $2.50 for a TINY container of Creamy Jalapeno. I just looked in the bag, but when I got home a few minutes later, I opened the to go box and there was not even 3 tablespoons of rice total. The Chuychanga was literally soaked and soggy and dripping with orange grease. There was a pool of grease in the container. I don't know why the grease was orange, because nothing in the chuychanga is red or orange, including spices. Just inedible. I used to love the Westheimer location, but tried this one when they opened and the food was bad, service even worse. I gave them a try again tonight, but NEVER again. I'm not sure but I've had better quality elsewhere. The second time I went, I ordered a lunch combination platter with a cheese enchilada, beef taco, rice and beans. Again, the food was OK. Nothing special. I also ordered two drinks and didn't like EITHER of them. First I tried the Blackberry Rita on the rocks. Yuck! I actually sent that one back. And then I ordered a Strawberry Mojito, which is one of my favorite drinks, and I barely drank it. I was definitely not a fan of their alcoholic beverages. I felt like I wasted my money. My mom didn't really like what she ordered either. So I know it's not just me. I was so excited about this restaurant opening up but I don't think I'll become a regular. I hate to sound so negative but there are much better places in Pasadena to get Mexican food like The Don'Key or Johnny Tamale's. The salsa was good, but I'd call it more of a wet pico de gallo. It paired well with their green ranch sauce. I also liked the chips. They were super thin and tasty. Opening day for this location. My dads 79th Birthday was yesterday so my wife and I took my parents out to eat. They have never been to a Chuy's location, but my wife and I are frequent flyers. They have everything you would expect from Chuy's, bright colors, folk art, hubcaps and a fondness for Elvis. I ordered the sirloin burrito, with no beans (never liked them, never eat them) I asked for the Mexican Rice instead and for it to be put into the burrito, and no garnish as I am allergic to tomatoes. The first burrito arrived with everyone else's dishes, everything looked great and everyone else's food was prefect. I noticed large tomato pieces in the rice and debated with myself if I could eat it or not. I am ok with tomatoes if the are finely chopped and cooked. These pieces were just too big I couldn't take the chance. I saw a manager and called him over, explained the situation. He was very apologetic and said I needed the Green Chili Rice as it didn't have tomatoes. Ok cool, that sounded great. Second burrito arrived: I saw what looked like large pieces of tomato in the rice. There was a debate if they were in fact tomatoes or peppers. Turns out they were indeed tomatoes. Also this plate came with a death garnish of pico. A different manager stopped by the table to make sure this one was alright. Obviously, it wasn't. He was very apologetic and offered to remake a burrito with no rice. The third and final burrito arrived with no rice and no pico, long after everyone else at the table had finished eating. Without the beans or rice it really didn't feel like much of a meal. The second manager brought a piece of cake for the rest of the table to eat while I was eating my entree. That was nice. Just left the place. Went in for lunch today. The menu offers choice of a taco, a quesadilla, a burrito, a salad, soup and that's about it. I've experienced better offering from a taco truck. I ordered the quesadilla with fajita chicken. What I received was four folded in half flower tortillas, inside where cubes of some sort of meat wast too sure if it was chicken.
