Chuy's is ok for tex mex food. No one can ever beat their green sauce, I could make a meal out of this and chips alone! Queso is too spicy for me, but really good too. I do like the fajitas platter. Tortillas and beans are both good. Rice is not the best and guac isn't super impressive either. Fajitas and well seasoned and tender. I'm not a fan of the nachos or enchiladas. I do however highly recommend the Deep EddyMs cherry limeade, this drink is worth the visit! Do yourself a favor and order this tasty beverage when you make a visit, you will not be disappointed. My visit to Chuy's was good. The service was okay and the food was good. We where seated very fast but our server didn't come assist us right away and we waited a couple minutes. I had the southwestern enchiladas. This plate was a bit spicy but you can always get the sauce on the side. The inside is very cute with little lights and very colorful. Not a good day. We were in Pasadena at noon and decided to do Kelly's. We waited 10 minutes to order, then after waiting another 30 minutes for our food, we walked. And came here. After ordering and waiting another 30 minutes for out food I announced, "I have never walked two restaurants one after another, but I'm walking this one if our food isn't here in 5 minutes." It arrived as I was about to leave. She ordered a combination plate, said it was not good and only ate about half. I got the taco salad. Probably the least satisfying one I've ever had. The shell was not crisp (a crisp shell is what I like about taco salads), and I spent my time searching through the lettuce for the meat. The guacamole was good but it was like a consolation prize. Great stop for drinks and dinner with family or friends. Seasonal margaritas are always a must try! You can ask for a sample before committing. (Prickly pear and raspberry are great!) Always, of course, get creamy jalapeño to dip your chips in! Any of their entrees are great but I always gravitate to the tex mex enchiladas or chicken flautas. Let me start off by saying I've actually never eaten inside this location. I've ordered from the Chuy's To-Go about 3-4 times because my job is about 5-7 minutes away. Every time I've ordered from this location they've never made an error with my order and I've ordered for 7 people once! The manager working that day carried all of my orders out to my car and was such a gentleman. I'm giving this place a 4/5 because the meals my coworkers had ordered wasn't up to their par. Several of them ordered a chicken tortilla soup and the soup was quite watery. One even said that chicken Campbell's soup even taste better than their chicken tortilla soup. My thoughts on Chuy's is that it hasn't failed me yet. I always order the Baja Tacos FISH fried and every time it's been great. I wish I could give this place a 5/5 but I did see the chicken tortilla soup and it did not look appetizing. Other than that... I'd still recommend this place for their Baja tacos! read more

I had been to the Chuy's location in or near Webster before and didn't really like the food. However, a brand new Chuy's opened in Pasadena - just 3-4 minutes from my house, so we thought we would give them another chance. Looking at the reviews, you can see people either love Chuy's or hate the food - and now I think I know why. My first visit a couple of years ago was very much like this recent visit. I LOVE Tex-Mex food (think Pappasito's, Escalante's, and El Tiempo) - Chuy's is NOT Tex-Mex cooking! Many, many people LOVE New Mexican food and Chuy's is green chile New Mexico cooking. It just so happens that I do NOT like "Mexican food" cooked New Mexico style - don't like Hatch peppers, don't like my food cooked with green chile peppers, and don't like red chile peppers (although they are preferable over the green chiles). Their "salsa" or red sauce we get for free with chips at most local Tex-Mex Mexican food restaurants is generally well blended and spicy - delicious with fresh hot tortilla chips. Chuy's offers room temperature chips with chopped tomatoes, onions, and jalapeños as their salsa. It is not very good compared to local salsas. Their salsa verde or green sauce was simply ranch dressing with some cilantro added. The queso appetizer is infused with green chile peppers and is not very good - at least to my taste. But to my credit, I DID try it (twice). Their Beef Fajitas are made from traditional skirt steak rather than the higher grades of beef most local Tex-Mex restaurants serve, and our fajitas were not seasoned very well - they were just not very good. The refried beans, rice, and guacamole were all very good. AND, the table next to us were enjoying some very attractive tostadas, so maybe those were good as well. But for my wife and I, we will not be returning and cannot recommend, unless you are a fan of Mexican food prepared New Mexican style (then you should try them). read more

The decor is very Tex-Mex, their shirts are a lot of laughs and I liked the queso bar. My aunt, uncle and my mom were fond of the drinks of course! We had pleasant service throughout. You can order whatever tortillas you want for your meal. Minor issues were that the queso bar took a while to be re-filled. This was our first time ever eating at a Chuy's. It was absolutely amazing. The staff is just beyond fantastic. So friendly and so helpful. As a 22 year hospitality professional excellent service seems to be disappearing, but clearly Chuy's has not let that trend infect their restaurant. It's so nice to see a restaurant that is on point. Brand new Chuy's in Pasadena and we are happy they are here. We have come twice now and both experiences have been very positive. First tip is to come dine in during happy hour M-F 4-7 and you can get free queso, taco meat, salsas etc at the self serve bar. I was not expecting the queso to be as good and it actually was very good. The wait staff has been excellent. We went in expecting the staff to be all over the place and not running smoothly due to it being a brand new location but these people have it all down! Our sever Anthony really stood out. Very personable and speedy with everything. The hostess stand told us a longer wait than it actually took which is always nice. Now the food review, I ordered the chicka chicka boom boom enchiladas and they were so good! Spicy spicy and very good. My gf ordered quesadillas both times and she loved them. Homemade flour tortillas are so good. We will keep coming back because the experience has been excellent overall. Most important thing: bring in a framed picture of your dog and get a free appetizer and then the Dog frame will be mounted up on the wall. I'm vegetarian, so I really appreciate that they have a lot of meatless options and the beans don't have lard in them. I've been three times now and all the servers have been friendly, if a bit forgetful. My main complaint is that the food is just too salty. Not to an inedible degree, but they could really stand to cut the salt by 25% and it was still be extremely well seasoned.
