This location is better than the one on the Eastside. Very clean and friendly staff. Tasty beans are brought out before you even order. I ordered the 5 mini fajita tacos that come with an avocado slice, onions and a grilled jalapeño. Very tender meat. Very good crispy tortilla with just the right amount of meat and cheese. My friend ordered the tostadas with chicken and it came with a small menudo that she said was delicious. Our waitress Katie took real good care of us and was very attentive. This is a little hidden gem! I've lived in the area for about 2 years and I saw this restaurant often but it was closed. Now that it's open me and my husband decided to try it! From the outside it doesn't look like it would be an authentic Mexican restaurant but once you're inside it seems for taqueria-esq! The server greeted us as soon as we walked in and had us seated immediately. They weren't extremely busy but they weren't empty either so I thought it was impressive. Stopped here to check it out. Friendly staff and a focused menu. I had the burrito which was more like a giant taco. It was just a foldeded flour tortilla not rolled like you would normally see. It was filled with to the top and somewhat difficult to manage. The flavor was ok but missing something. The biggest issue I had was the lack of chips. I was hoping for the common basket of chips to accompany my meal. They did not offer or bring any. I did see they had some on the menu for $5.50. Instead of chips I did get diced onions, cilantro, beans, and lime. These toppings are supplied to every table to dress your tacos. While this was nice it was not quite what I was expecting or hoping for. My bill was around $12 for a soda and the burrito. While the quality was adiquet I feel it was a touch to much. I would give this place 3.5 stars but will edge to 3. I would recommend, if you are looking to a more traditional taco experience. I will probley not return. read more

Nachos had so much potential. I was so excited after a friend ordered them from a taco truck they have. Ordered them through door dash and had them delivered. The chips were so burnt that's all I could taste. No green salsa. As far as the taco truck goes : Tacos from the taco truck were more expensive and had nothing on them like the restaurant ones have. No cheese, no avocado, barely any sautéed onions and $10. Not sure if there has been changes there lately but this place used to be the bomb. Sad. read more

Tacos del Julio is my favorite sit down taco spot. I avoided this place for years because their storefront looks really Tex Mex. Not only do they not serve Tex Mex but they actually serve my favorite style of Mexican food, Norteña. I searched for so long for a place like this! My go to is the Tacos Especiales de Trompo. Delicious. A taco is not a taco without queso fresco, avocado and grilled onions and Tacos del Julio knows this. I'm not a fan of caldo but the Caldo Tlalpeño here is awesome. It has the right amount of spice and such good flavor. The Taquitos al Vapor, the Enchiladas del Julio. And on and on. The service is great and the staff is friendly. I was really craving tacos today and this really is the only actual taco place in the area. I didn't know what to expect, but here is what I found: Food: This place is definitely more mex-mex than tex-mex. And my tacos were really yummy. I had the Wednesday special which included 1 fajita taco on flour with cheese, 2 bistec tacos and 2 fajita meat tacos all on corn. The meat was really flavorful and tender. Also, they serve the table with salsas, beans, onions, lime and cilantro (plus we asked for sour cream, but I maybe wish I would have asked for some extra cheese too). I was craving tacos so that's all I really looked for on the menu, but I do know they at least also have quesadillas, tortas, flautas, tostados, enchiladas, dessert options and more! Atmosphere: A comfortable, clean and colorful place! They have tons of different size tables and we were able to seat ourselves. Service: Our server was very sweet! I could tell she was trying to find the right balance between being at our table too much or too little and she didn't always nail it, but she tried so I appreciate that! The manager was also very friendly which I always appreciate. The servers definitely speak both English and Spanish. You pay up front normally, but our server allowed us to pay at the table and split the check - love it! Value/Prices: Great! I ordered the Wednesday special and the value was exceptional.
