The restaurant is definitely Instagram-worthy, with a cute aesthetic and plenty of spots to snap pictures. We visited after a graduation, and they were very accommodating with our large group. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to the high reviews for me. I ordered the habanero short ribs, which were just decent. Some pieces were fatty, others were tough, and there was a sweeter flavor than I expected. My husband's fajitas were also just okay and seemed borderline overcooked. I also got the sense they may have been understaffed, because it took a very long time for our food to come out. The biggest misses for me were the extremely watery salsa and hard, flavorless chips. Had a very enjoyable happy hour around 4:30 pm ish and and it was terrific. Food came out quickly and was quite tasty. I told my server, I think her name was Yessly, that I was killing some time before heading to the airport to pick up some family. As a result, she showed me prompt and very curious, service, I might add. She took the time to explain something that I was curious about and just couldn't have been nicer. I found this restaurant which is very convenient to the IH 45, by Airport Road, the perfect spot to accomodate me needs. Thank Yessly. Ok...this place has gone downhill. Came in with my wife. She ordered enchiladas, and we wanted to add in a single taco, as it offers it in their add-on section. Told we can't order a taco as an add on...only if we purchase a full taco plate to add on another one. Ridiculous. The food came out...it was good. No complaints there...but if you cant walk into a Mexican joint and they wont sell you a taco.... The salsa wasn't flavorful. Multiple dirty un-bussed tables at 330 pm. Employees on cell phones. Lack of professionalism. We used to love this place. We will not return, and I suggest you consider other options, like one of the multiple food trucks on the roads leaving and coming to the airport. The service was very bad; the waiter was not attentive and didn't care, and since we were a party of 7 adults and two kids, gratuity would be a given especially because it was three separate checks. I told the waiter my order was wrong, and he told me I was wrong and that it was correct. This left me stunned by his reply! The food was cold and bland which made the experience more unpleasant. Beans had a smokiness to them which were nice. I do wish the salsa was not so thin, but everyone's style is different. I did notice they have happy hour from 1-6 so if you are flying in to Hobby airport awaiting hotel or Airbnb check in I suggest stopping by. Prices and offerings were good. Tequila 45 was not all at what I expected. Inside is very fancy, but family friendly. The staff are very accommodating. There's lots of space inside, so it's ideal for big gatherings. For those who love to drink (not me), like their name suggests, Tequila 45 has a full bar and a vast selection of wine and margaritas. Their food was the best Mexican cuisine I've ever had. I can tell they use great quality ingredients in their dishes. Their tortillas are served steaming hot from the oven! Tequila 45 really stands out with some of their unusual menu items like Alfredo pasta, burgers, mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, Creme Brulé, puddings, pork chops, Pineapple Sunshine (basically Pineapple upside down cake), and Cinnamon Butter Cake. I personally liked that you can choose what rice you want, instead of just having only Spanish rice. Tequila 45 does have a lunch special and they even serve breakfast! They're open every day and yes, they take reservations. Downsides: Our waitress took a long time getting our orders, and they weren't even busy! Everything on their menu is expensive. Even the prices on their appetizers and desserts are outrageous! The rice on my plate wasn't cooked evenly. I would only come here for special occasions. The service was not great, but that's mainly because there was a huge party of 30 next to us so it made it difficult for the waiter to get to us--so, I can't blame him. The drinks were good! I got the fajitas. The beef was chewy--but I'm rather picky about meat. The chicken portion of the fajitas was excellent. Charro beans were good too. Got flan for dessert which was good as well. With that being said, I will definitely return to try some other food and better seating! Evidently they clear the floors and have dancing here some nights! Update: went for round two. Better seating this time, I guess--no booths available. The quesadilla was super cheesy and satisfying, with beans and rice that had nice flavor. The taco meat, though, was a bit dry and lacking seasoning. Finished with the Tres Leches -- tasty and moist, but there was too much fruit on top, which took away from the cake's flavor. Apparently this spot has existed almost a year, but I just recently heard of it As I drove up I was impressed by the exterior layout and decor. Each section and room is almost a little work of art with murals, Hispanic decor, chandeliers, etc. in the lobby there is a pair of neon wings you can pose with. How can that be a star at a Mexican restaurant and yet here we are. We love the service. Everyone is friendly but there is a language issue on every trip. From the beginning we walked in stating it was a table for 9 and the guy was being so rude stating that "it wasn't a big deal" that we didn't have a reservation but he definitely made it a big deal and like if it was a bother to him. Then to find out he unfortunately was our server as well he was very rude, did not seem happy to work there, barely talked and checked on us. Whenever we asked questions about a plate he stated we were wrong and he didn't want to make the situation correct. He only was talkative whenever it came time to pay the bill. We noticed there was automatic gratuity added and seems like he didn't care to provide good service just because he knew he didn't have to work for a good tip. Walked in around 9pm, waitress at front entrance with no greet. Waited for like 2 min for her to notice we were standing at door for table. John was our waiter. It was our first time and his service was okay, would've like to been offered any recommendations for appetizers/ entrees. Didn't feel like how a waiter should serve a table it very straight forward. We ordered Lamb chop, and pollo Del Mar which was fine 8/10 flavor. 2/10 for the portions. 3 asparagus and a scoop a mash potatoes which was insane for the price. We didn't get dessert since John didn't really recommend good options just asked. We got our check and realized John didn't take off the calamari so we had to fix the issue and he said " lucky yall are still here " like sir that's not how you address your guest that you forgot to take something off the bill basically overcharging them. I've passed by this spot so many times and finally had the opportunity to check it out. No reservations needed. Open parking lot. No outside seating. They do have a small bar. We got a table for 4 near the bar around 6:30 p.m. on a Friday night with very little wait time. Right off the bat, the restaurant is beautiful! Kudos to the designer/decorator. The chips were crispy and fresh - the green and red salsa were incredible (i'm picky about my salsas!)! We missed the happy hour specials (which just means I have to swing by again!) but we ended up ordering the spicy margarita, piña colada, spicy and regular palomas. Yennifer waited on us and was perfectly attentive and so sweet. For our meal, I ordered the grilled sea bass with a lemon butter sauce (since I have a shellfish allergy and it initially came with crawfish cream), asparagus, and rice. It was really delicious, about $24 but it would be great if the seabass was a bigger portion. Brian Mejia gave us the best recommendations and we also got to try the Madam Paleta Tamarind Tequila - HOLY SMOKES - i'm now searching for this tequila.
