Truly GRIM! After standing in the entranceway for several minutes the "cook" finally stopped chatting with another employee and asked for our order. I said I had heard the pancakes were good and we each ordered them. He said "I haven't made them yet so they're not available." It was 9:15am! "Haven't made them yet" ??? Isn't that true of every meal ordered in a good restaurant? And isn't pancake batter essentially the same as waffle batter? So now, at 9:15am there's no pancakes and no waffles in a breakfast joint!!! So we ordered the breakfast skillet, which we were told were very popular. I don't know why. The cheese tasted like it was melted yesterday and warmed in a microwave. There's a much better place right across the street. read more

Casual and cheap. The food is pretty basic, but it did the trick. Great for a fairly quick and easy lunch. Not a lot of veggie options, but enough. My husband ordered the veggie sandwich and I had a breakfast wrap. They make a mean hot sauce here. Super spicy, but delicious. Just the thing for the rather plain wrap. Our family of 4 (2 teens) went to this place to try out for lunch while visiting Pemberton. First off the location is in a strip mall next to a small grocery store with ample parking. There was seating outside and inside, so social distancing was not an issue. To be honest the place needs to be tidied up, there were boxes/ supplies all over inside but in general was a clean place to eat. I could tell there were a number of locals eating during our meal which is always a good sign for a mom and pop restaurant. The owner was there doing his thing and there was the cook and waitress manning the restaurant, service was fine. We ordered the breakfast skillet, fish and chips , clubhouse sandwich, and the beef dip (stacked with lots of meat) which all were very delicious and filling. With drinks we paid all in $65. I could see why there might be some negative comments, because first impressions might turn off some customers. However, if you have a young family and are looking for a simple place that gives good food at a reasonable price I would recommend giving Grimm's Deli a try. I would come back if I was visiting Pemberton again. read more

Family owned resto with great food and reasonable prices. Owner, Mark, is delightful and the resto faces stunning views of Mt Currie. Hubby and I ate Greek salad and a delish quinoa salad with squash and cranberries. Lots of pizza action but instead my eyes were on the freshly baked pies. Only open breakfast and lunch with very bland and a broad range of items. The deli is the absolute worst. Tables are left dirty for as long as I'm sitting in their for a meal. Some days the chef is just hacking away it's post-pandemic!!!! Coffee could be a lot more better. It's your typical small town cafe. That's being scuttled by the bland menu that being said. Good food, friendly staff. Not the fastest service, but the view while we were waiting was fantastic, so who cares? This is a friendly hometown diner, not McDonald's. We had omelets made without ham and they took the time to come to our table and ask if we wanted tomatoes, instead. We will eat there again if we return to Pemberton. read more

I wanted to like this place so I have kept giving it chances much to my regret. Most of the employees seem nice enough, the renovations are an improvement, and the menu offers deli/diner type food for prices that are reasonable considering it's Pemberton. There is a major lack of options in town and they're location is convenient so they have that going for them. I've dropped by a bunch of times when in the area....unfortunately. I really don't like any of the coffee here I've stopped elsewhere before coming in to pick up something to go. The first time I did one of the guys stopped what he was doing and kept bothering me about why I would want coffee elsewhere when they have it there. It was uncomfortable since I was trying to be really polite about it and still this guy kept trying to argue every point I made while other customers were awkwardly forced to listen and hating it as much as I was. The second time I came in with coffee a different guy snapped me about how they don't allow outside food or drinks. I explained that I wasn't staying and motioned towards my friend who was grabbing our to-go orders. He rolled his eyes, said nothing, and walked away. I also saw him deliberately touching food with his dirty bare hands. He was handling money and cleaning tables and then went to check the temperature of microwaved food by pushing all the over the top several times. It was microwaved, left to get cold, touched all over by dirty fingers, reheated again and served. The last time I bought food here (and I do mean last!) I hoped a toasted bagel and cream cheese might be a safe bet (along with their crappy coffee to save myself the drama.) I waited over 45 minutes and received it cold. It was horrible. Cold, limp, stale, and soggy. I couldn't even get anyone's attention to return it and another customer was already complaining so since I ran out of time and patience I left. The pizza pretzel I tried from here was also stale. A couple of other things my friends and I have tried were just "meh" and not worth commenting on. The other workers seem like they're doing a better job but I just don't want to give this place any more chances. It's just not worth it for mediocre food that may or not be ruined and with a side of bad service. Sorry, Grimm's. Swiss Deli did it better and they are missed. read more

I brought 20 college students through Pemberton on our way into the mountains for 10 days, and some of us hung out at Grimm's for over an hour. This was partly because we'd neglected to charge the batteries on one of our satellite phones, and the owner was very accommodating about that. In the course of that hour, we ate a lot of food, and I only heard good reports - wholesome, flavorful, hearty, affordable. I had a sandwich and a cookie and they were just what I needed. This is not your up-scale kind of place (thank you!) but they have good food. Everyone who helped us was super friendly - the staff are open and warm and want to please without being subservient. The place has an open, homey feel. My students sat around chatting for quite a while, very comfortably (not all 20 at once). And on top of all that, the owner loaned me his own 12v to120v charger adapter so we could charge the last sat. phone battery on the Hurley road. He took it completely on faith I'd get it back to him. I thought that gesture spoke volumes about the kind of people running Grimm's. That's the kind of people whose businesses I'll always support!! read more
