Casual and cheap. The food is pretty basic, but it did the trick. Great for a fairly quick and easy lunch. Not a lot of veggie options, but enough. My husband ordered the veggie sandwich and I had a breakfast wrap. They make a mean hot sauce here. Super spicy, but delicious. Just the thing for the rather plain wrap. The owner is very friendly.

Family owned resto with great food and reasonable prices. Owner, Mark, is delightful and the resto faces stunning views of Mt Currie. Hubby and I ate Greek salad and a delish quinoa salad with squash and cranberries. Lots of pizza action but instead my eyes were on the freshly baked pies. Bought a whole blueberry pie to bring back to share with the fam.

They know how to do great sunny side eggs, and the pancakes are heaven!

The best pancakes on earth are found at Grimm's! Everything else for breakfast is top tier awesome, but I really had no idea that a pancake could be that good. They were legendary! The coffee is great, and they have several flavors to choose from, but... pancakes. All other pancakes are a lie. Also, the staff is just lovely! #Pancakes

Loved this breakfast place! Opens early. My favorite is the loaded breakfast burrito. Owners made us feel welcome. I highly recommend it.

This seems to be the place to be on a Saturday night in Pemberton! We snagged one of the last empty tables. They have a large selection of alcohol, from cocktails to beers and wine. I was impressed by the diversity of the food menu as well. Not only do they have standard pub food like burgers and sandwiches, wings, pizza, fish and chips, etc., but they also have a selection of Asian dishes like chow mein and Thai curry. Aside from the standard menu, they also offer daily specials which are written on a blackboard. When we came, they had seafood chowder, Korean pork pizza, and rigatoni pasta on the specials board. We shared the shiitake chow mein with chicken added ($17.50 + $5 for the chicken) and a custom pizza with tomato slices and oregano ($19.50). Both were solid, and we left very full and satisfied. We ended up taking some of the pizza and noodles home as leftovers, as the portions were big, especially for the pizza.

It's located next to a bike shop, so go in and peruse, and head next door for some delicious sandwiches. I LOVED my gyro and the poutine was pretty good. But to me, even bad poutine is good, so take that for what it's worth. The burgers are small but stacked, and I liked the pear cider. We did get dessert and while simple, they were pretty good. Service was great, if not a biiiiiiit slow, but we were the first table in there right upon opening, so they were still sort of getting things ready. It was summer, doors were open, and yes there were some flies, but that's kind of what you get in the PNW summers. Don't let it deter you - it's got some gems on the menu.

But don't sleep on Squamish's limited-but-delicious food scene. A solid place to start is Backcountry Brewing, a blink-and-you'll-miss-it bar and restaurant on the back side of the towns main shopping plaza. Since debuting in 2017, Backcountry has been a British Columbia beer darling; now, Backcountry prides itself on an ambitious lineup of limited-release beers. From the outside, the converted warehouse blends in with the rest of the industrial block. But inside, Backcountry is lively and inviting. The accents sport a tan and teal color palette. The bar to the right is decked with retro bulbs and a letterboard menu. Sound-dampening panels and camo-shaded lamps hang down from the soaring exposed HVAC. Each table is decked with a laminated BC map and mid-century modern chairs. Eighties tunes echo around the halls. My partner and I visited Backcountry after a full day of hiking, ready to chow down; we ordered a sandwich, a pizza, and a few flights. The Soprano -- Italian Sando was piled high with capicola, mortadella, and prosciutto cotto on a fluffy, poppyseed-laden foccacia. Our side of Five Guys-style, wedge-cut fries was rich and salty, and we loved each one of Backcountry's house-made sauces more than the last. The Meat Your Maker pizza was a deliciously nostalgic riff on the classic meat-lovers pizza. The thin crust stood up against the hefty helping of toppings, and the poofy cornicione paired perfectly with the exciting sauces. On the brewery side, the flights proved to be a fun deal. Across the beers, I was most impressed by the sours. Our collective favorite was the "Plan B? We Need A Plan C, D, E, We Need More Alphabets" (a basil-forward pineapple sour), while the "I'll Take You To the Candy Shop" (a peach-centric sour) and the "Might As Well Go For A Soda" (a gummy cola-esque cherry sour) were strong competitors. Meanwhile, the non-sour beers I tried were relative duds, including the "Never Taken A Shortcut Before?" oatmeal stout and the Sneaky Peach Cider. The service was friendly but somewhat inattentive throughout the meal, and the bill came to about $60 (after tax and tip). More than anything else, Backcountry satisfied -- it achieved the ideal brewery balance of fun, elevated, and casual. After our stay in Whistler, I admittedly had low expectations for Squamish, but Backcountry Brewing was a beyond-pleasant surprise, and I surely would visit again.

Ohhhhh. Ok. That makes a lot of sense. I'm generally suspicious of places that bill themselves as doing "NY style" or "Chicago style" pizza, but I thought this place had a real shot since it describes itself as a blend of NY style and Detroit style since Detroit isn't so famous for pizza that people will just slap "Detroit style" on any pizza place as a generic selling point, but the pizza doesn't really resemble NY style or Detroit style pizza. The two styles can be mixed very well. For example, see Prince Street Pizza in NYC, which is a very Detroit-y pizza that also feels like it belongs in NYC, but the use of "NY style" and "Detroit style" here seems to be more branding than substance. As for the quality of the pizza, I'd rate this below a good dollar a slice place in NYC, but above a bad one. But a pizza here costs $30 and is about the size of three slices at a dollar a slice place. Anyway, the place has a nice vibe, so if you're looking for a place with a cool outdoor patio, Functional Pie is pretty great. But if you're into food and are looking for a good pizza, you should avoid eating pizza in Whistler.
