I've never had kosher food before but one of my classmate is Jewish and he can only eat kosher food. He didn't want us to go out of our (my classmates and I) way to eat kosher food just cause of him. But we all agreed to give it a try since most of us didn't /haven't tried kosher food before. He recommended Grill point, which I've seen a few time while taking the bus. The place isn't huge but not small. We got seated at the back since there were about 8 of us in total. We were given the menus and we were all confused about what is what - although everything sounded good once explained for us by our classmate. I got this wrap thing (in a laffa) with chicken and veggies and fries- (sorry I forgot the name, I couldn't pronounce it clearly either...I think my accent got heavier when I tried hahaa) but when it came out I was confused. Cause I was like "Didn't it say it came with fries?" YO!!! the fries were IN the wrap! IT was amazing it really was! The fries were really crispy on the outside and potatoey inside! so good! The chicken was cooked to perfection!! It wasn't dry and thank goodness (I mean who likes dry chicken) Also there were enough veggies, chicken, and fries all wrapped together that it didn't fall apart on ya!! The potion was big cause I was not able to eat the whole sandwich in one sitting. I ate half at the place and took the rest home. It made me sad that I couldn't eat it all since it was so good but my stomach was just too stuffed. We also ordered hummus, I never had it so Grill point was where i first had my hummus. AMAZING!!! I found out what hummus was, had it and LOVED IT!!! It was great with the bread that we were given. The hummus was so smooth and creamy and paired well with the bread. Our waitress was really nice and my classmates actually stayed in for maybe 2 hours?! and our waitress left . Even so the other waitress that took care of us was also nice. For over 12 years, this has been one of my favorite falafel spots (I can only speak to the falafel pitas and salad bar). Ingredients are fresh, falafels are hot and crispy, and pitas are soft. A friend of mine and his father brought me here to try kosher Israeli food for the first time in my life. To be honest, I had no idea what to expect or what to order. They recommended that I try the baby chicken shawarma. No you are not served a baby chicken.. atleast I hope not :). I ordered the baby chicken shawarma wrap. The meal comes with free access to the salad bar - definitely take advantage! It's not your typical salad bar. You get all sorts of different salads (red cabbage, israeli salad, etc). Great option to get some fiber in your meal. Anyways the wrap arrived - it's a delicious pita bread wrap filled with chicken, fries, cucumbers, hummus, etc. I loved it. The pita bread was phenomenal and the flavors went together extremely well. Unfortunately the prices are sky high. If you eat kosher, I'm sure you know that is expected of any kosher restaurant. (shakes head) If it was full of people hanging out and relaxing, it'd be Chill Point. I've been to Grill Point three times now, and each time I am thoroughly impressed. It's a little on the pricy side, especially if you order the fancy stuff and veer away from the tried and tested Falafel. But if you stick to the basics, you'll be under $10 and having a wonderful meal. If they made cereals, it'd be Mill Point. I think Mamoun's has the best Shawarma in NYC (although the Hoboken location is better), and when they mix it with Falafel it is even better. But for pure Falafel, I choose Grill Point. It's a 5 star place. It's run by Israelis and a lot of the employees are Israeli too as far as I can tell. It's very authentic, to say the least. If they were an awful sports team in France, it'd be Nil Points. Basically you ask for a falafel, they give you a delicious fluffy fresh pita stuffed with hot lightly spiced amazing falafel balls, and then you go to the salad bar and fill your pita with every type of Israeli deliciousness you can find. You're also allowed to fill a container up with salad as well, up to a certain point. And the salads are off-the-charts good and very homestyle and authentic too. If they were all murderers, and this restaurant was where they did all their evil deeds, it'd be Kill Point. In other words this is an experience that you do not want to miss. The second best authentic Israeli food I've had, and while the service can be brusque and prickly, the food is not. It's amazing. Besides, there was one girl last time I was here who cut in front of the other bored servers to get to me and take care of me, so to speak. She was super, duper nice and very flirty and chatty. So I really appreciated that, because on the phone they're usually dour, and in person most of them are indifferent or a little hostile. I don't care though. I'm all about the food. If they overcharge you, which might happen since they're kind of not great servers most of the time... then you'd have to argue over your Bill Points. By the way, the best Falafel and Shawarma I've ever eaten is nearby. It's in Roslyn on Long Island, and it's called Hummus World. Their "Shawafel" is one of the 20 best things I have ever eaten, from anywhere, in any country, in my life. Unfortunately, I got the horrible news that they have closed down due to a rent dispute, as of about 3 months ago. I am waiting patiently for news of them reopening. It was a lovely tiny little place. If Grill Point closed down too, it'd be renamed Still Point. I'm happy that Grill Point and Mamoun's still exist, and hopefully always will. But Hummus World was my sun and moon and shining star when it came to Shawarma, Falafel and Israeli food. So I am really hoping they will be back soon. I have my fingers crossed, and my tummy is rumbling in anticipation. You must try it when it opens. You simply must. I would drive 8 hours to Long Island from Buffalo just for a Shawafel. Seriously. And I have done. If they were also a gas station, it'd be Fill Point. Same thing if they provided studly gigolos too I suppose. But in the meantime... Grill Point is very very good Israeli food, and if you like Falafel and you're anywhere near Queens... you have to try this one. It's that good. I'm happy I found this spot thanks to a friend who's Jewish and mainly eats kosher. This is a small restaurant but fits a lot of people this seems like a place great place to have family dinners. I ordered mango juice and chicken shawarma and my friend ordered chicken shawarma and hummus. First off the hummus was excellent and so was the food! There's as a do-it-yourself salad bar that comes free with your meal. The waiters were very friendly and the food came out very fast. As a mean lunch planner, I decided to go to a Kosher restaurant for one of my colleague's birthday lunch. Originally I found Carlos & Gabby's, but I wasn't sure if the restaurant is still in business. They didn't pick up my phone call, so I assumed that place is out of business. :( So Grill Point it is! It is a few blocks from my workplace. Since we were 7 people, we drove to the place. Because we made a reservation earlier, they were ready for us with 4 small tables attached together. There were many people dining in and taking out. I thought it would be only Jewish people, but many Asians and Hispanic people I saw. Menu was kinda tricky; all the food on the menu starts from $15 except appetizers. Those are food on plate. If you ask for sandwiches, you can have those food in a pita bread.(more technically pita bread bag!) and it's about $11. I had Baby Chicken shawarma in a pita bread with Hummus, salad and fries. It was great, and tasted new! In the pita bread they put baby chicken, hummus and salad. Hummus at the bottom of it kinda bothered me, but overall it was good! Fries were thick! People liked the fries, but it wasn't my favorite.(I like BK's fries better. lol mid-size thick fries?) Our waitress was kind. I seriously cannot believe I've never written a review about this place! I've been eating here for years. Food is super authentic, I'm brought back to Israel with every single bite. If you speak Hebrew, feel free to talk to just about anyone on the staff in that language rather than English, they seem to really appreciate it. As for the food, it's amazing. I always get pargiot (baby chicken) in a laffa (big fluffy wrap) with hummus and chips (French fries.) It is always hot, fresh, and super delicious! Prices are appropriate for the product. There are lots of salads and sauces for the taking when buying food here. I've never once sat down and had a full meal here, I always take out. But, from the looks of it, it's always packed so there's gotta be a reason. If all the Israeli's in the area are coming to eat here, you should take a hint and follow suit. read more

There is very little to eat around Queens College, and what is available isn't very good or my friend and I are very, very tired of it. So yesterday, we decided to hit up Main St., even though that'd mean choosing between meat and dairy (normally a non-issue in our non-kosher lives). Dairy-craving me was a little bummed out when my friend was insistent on taking me here, but as soon as my grilled chicken pita with hummus and Israeli salad was in my mouth, all thoughts of creamy cheesy dishes left my mind. The sandwich was incredible!! The hummus was so creamy and smooth, the grilled chicken was perfectly moist, there were just enough cucumbers and tomatoes, and the whole thing was packed to the brim. I couldn't finish the entire thing in one sitting, and am pretty sure I would have gotten two meals out of the thing if I had ordered it on their very delicious lafah (which was on my friend's meal). Definitely a five-star meal. So why four stars? Two reasons. I wasn't a big fan of the thick fries that came with my sandwich. They were too oily and soft and thick. Secondly and most importantly, sandwiches cost an extra $1.50 when you dine-in. So not cool. And a quick note on the service -- I see that service has been hit or miss here for Yelpers. Bad experience with their deliveries (more than once). They have charged me $10 for delivery and it took them more than 90 minutes to show up (and not for the first time). Do yourself a favor and pick up your food or just order from somewhere else because after 90 minutes this kind of food is inedible and really tastes bad! I'm here like every Friday at the moment. The platters are usually good, and give a ton of food- like a plate of meat and both a plate of rice and a plate of salad. But oddly in the recent 2 visits we had been getting just a plate that covers the meat/rice/salad... Anyways onto the food: We usually order a platter of meat, and goto town on the great salad bar that's included. Mains we've tried: Baby chicken shawarma: it's well spiced, but a bit dry. I don't love it, but I do like that you get a ton of it and it's presented in a foil duck like in Archer. Merguez: total pass on this one. It's like 4 tiny links of super lean grainy meat. Adan or kefta kebabs: great flavor, really juicy, but just two links for a platter? I feel like this one is a rip off. My husband and my mother-in-law's introduced me to this place. First time I ate here, I go "what is this? delicious!". Yes I didn't know what I was eating but very tasty. We love coming here on Sundays. The servers are terrific! We enjoy talking to them and they make us feel like home. Bring your own wine but please note the wine must be listed under "mevushal". Aside from all that the place closes at midnight but there is a clean up crew till 3am making sure the place a spotless and food is fresh for the next day shift. We were driving by and saw that there was no line ( very rare scenery for this establishment) I walked in and ordered 1 shawarma salad ans Laffa chicken shawarma. Both entrées were so generously assembled ans packed with care. We came home and went straight to the food. Salad was so good, chi and was moist and delicious.
