On the blue section, and there was some over-spray and it has a yellowish green tint. It took him a few quick minutes to mix some dye and he didn't really spot check for match. I asked if he could match it better but he said it could make it worse. There was also over-spray. Frankie just blocks off the untouched spot by holding a piece of cardboard. It wasn't precision and care. Also, deep scratches could be sanded, smoothed and polished to match, but he doesn't go to this level of service. He just applies putty over it and lets you know it will leave a lump. However, the match on black was very good, almost perfect. But it felt rough due to the over-spray. Overall, I had expected a more precise hand polishing process and care for matching, but it was just quick spray paint. Deep scratches really didn't get resolved. The car is now a collectors item. I was hoping for a level of quality that matches the prestige. EDIT In response to the owner; I do not use Yelp much and do not write many reviews. But they are bad experiences that are memorable enough to share and I provided evidence (invoices and pictures) to support it. The owner's lack of accountability in his response should be a concern. I've had someone asking about his work the past few weeks (2025: 9 years later) and it prompted me to help this person and update the review and even tone it down a tad for the owner's benefit. 1 and 2. The pictures uploaded appear the same quality as the original but resized. Don't believe otherwise as the owner leads you to believe. Many of you have uploaded pictures and know this is is a lie. I believe Yelp will also dispute the owner on the quality of their site. 3. As for repairing scratches, I had no issues and mearly shared the level of service ($350 - in 2016 dollars) for the community, but the owner has a problem with me sharing it. 4. The car was just as pristine in 2016 as today 2025, 1,500 miles later. I have the invoices on the work, dated before Frankie's job. In fact, I should probably write a review on it since the owner seems to have a problem with me not writing good reviews, especially if it is redundant to many other good reviews. 5. The owner is lying about the date of the job and timing of my review. The job was done on 2/6/2016. My review was dated 5/7/2016. I moved away from the area June 2016 and was very busy with preparing for the move and finishing up my life there. 6. The owner claimed he could make it right, but as he mentioned during the job, he did not want to fix the mismatch. I had no reason to contact him further. I moved to a different area a few months later and had more important concerns than the owner's job and was fine with just writing a review. The owner needs to own it.

Piere and his team delivered so quickly - half of the time promised and the results are absolutely gorgeous. The stitching and attention to detail was excellent. Definitely, they don't care and closed my case twice. I even reported it to 7 on Your Side but still nothing. They just referred me to the Bureau of Automotive Repairs. On top of that, I couldn't even find a shop willing to take on the job. Six years later... my driver seat torn so I found Craig's Auto Upholstery to repair the job and that came out awesome. Obviously, they saw my dashboard and advised me that they can also fix it. Craig's Auto Upholstery not only took it on, but absolutely exceeded my expectations. Victor was confident and went above and beyond--the original leather had become so hard and damaged that he had to create his own template from scratch. He carefully matched the vinyl and stitching so it looks just like the original, if not better. The process itself was no small job. An electrician had to remove the entire dashboard and then reconnect everything afterward, and it was all done seamlessly. The quality of the work is incredible--my dash looks amazing, like new again. You can tell they take pride in their craftsmanship and truly know what they're doing. And it only took Victor, Jorge and their Electrician a day and a half to complete the job making it seem like this was an easy project to them! After years of stress over this issue, it feels like such a relief to finally have it fixed the right way. It was well worth that extra cost as I'm in Solano County. I got my dining room chairs beautifully refinished by Lucia's upholstery.The quality was amazing. They also quoted me a couple weeks. All other places were saying 6 weeks or so. Super happy with my chairs and Lucia's. Give them a shot!

Outstanding Craftsmanship & Service at Griffin Upholstery I had an excellent experience with Scott at Griffin Upholstery in Sunnyvale, CA and wanted to share my story. The driver's seat bottom upholstery on my 2014 Subaru Outback had cracked badly, and after searching for parts, I found that another shop had quoted me over $950 for parts and labor, requiring at least a full day of work. Instead, I decided to purchase the original replacement upholstery online along with a seatback cover to match the passenger seat. (Interestingly, Subaru's North American models only have a storage net on the front passenger side, while in Europe, Japan, and APAC, both front seats come with storage nets as standard.) After receiving the parts, I contacted multiple upholstery shops, but most quoted me outrageous labor costs and estimated one to two days for completion--even if I provided the parts myself. Third time's the charm! When I visited Griffin Upholstery, I initially found the door closed, but after asking a neighboring business, I was advised to keep knocking or call the number on the door. After my second attempt at knocking, I called, and Scott answered right away. I explained my request and asked for a time estimate and cost. Scott quoted me less than $150 and said it was a straightforward job that would take just half a day. We scheduled the service for the next morning at 9:00 AM, and before noon, Scott texted me that the work was complete. Upon picking up my car, I was genuinely impressed by his craftsmanship and attention to detail. The seat looked flawless, and the work was done promptly and at a very reasonable cost. If anyone needs top-notch upholstery work at a fair price, I highly recommend Scott at Griffin Upholstery. His expertise, efficiency, and dedication to quality set him apart from the rest. read more

I needed to replace the soft top with plastic zip window on my Miata. Scott gave me a quote that beat out 2 other highly-rated-on-Yelp auto upholsterers by a substantial margin. He added that I could shop for my own soft top and he'd install it for me. I found one online and Scott agreed that it looked well-made. I had it shipped directly to his shop. When I brought the car, he asked what price he'd quoted me. When I said $400, he told me that was too much: my car being the 1st generation design, the roof was simpler to work on, so he said it would be $300 to install! I had no argument with the cheaper price. It only took overnight, as promised, and not only did he do a great job, he also had suggestions for products to keep the plastic window clean, the vinyl roof protected, and reminded me to unlatch the roof before un/zipping the window to preserve the life of the zipper and its seams. I recently had the front driver seat of my Mercedes C250 repaired by Griffin Upholstery, and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. The work was superb -- truly top-notch craftsmanship. From the start, he was very knowledgeable and clearly explained what needed to be done, which I really appreciated. His pricing was the most reasonable, and he was extremely accommodating to my schedule. For an additional fee, he even provided mobile service -- came to me, removed the seat, returned with it fully repaired, and installed it back on the spot. Super convenient and worth every penny. I had to lower the top to fix a telescoping motor on the steering column. It was down for a couple of days and then raised after I completed the fix. Went back to shop, Byron was out of town and I showed the problem to an assistant, who said he would show to owner when he came back in a week. This car has spent most of the time in my garage and only 5000 miles since 2019. Called Byron today and he was upset from my previous review. I sent several emails to him starting 6 days after I got the car home in 2019. I detailed with pictures the issues I found. At the time Byron responded "no excuses you should not have found the things you did. That's not how we normally let cars leave". My review just detailed the issues I found. Today Byron told me the top was out of 5 year warranty and he would not do the job even if I paid him. He protested that they always did quality work.
