We didn't know much about shutters other than it looks great, but he provided pros and cons with various customization possibilities as we tried to explain our vision. Ultimately, we went with JMK as we felt the trust and comfort with the quality of service and materials thus far. The lead time for the shuttters were exactly what he said. Again, very flexible when it came time to scheduling the installation part. Rommel's team, (two guys whose names I wish I remembered to give credit), arrived promptly, were professional and considerate of our home now that a bunch of furniture and boxes were in the way...and a sleeping baby. The installation of five windows was completed in under a couple hours. My wife and I are extremely happy with how everything turned out. Recently, one of the blinds broke, so I contacted Andy for warranty service. Instead of coming onsite, he told me to remove the blind myself and bring it to his office. I missed the appointment because of an urgent personal matter and forgot to cancel it. Afterward, Andy called and asked why I hadn't canceled the appointment. I explained the situation and apologized. He then texted me saying he would now charge me an $85 service fee. When I questioned how a missed appointment could affect a warranty repair, the conversation became hostile. During the call, he used derogatory language and was rude and unprofessional. Based on my experience, I found the customer service to be disappointing. I would not recommend this business.

The owner, Aida, then reached out and asked for more details about our needs, which I provided. After that, communication stopped. We were told she was dealing with family matters and might be slow to respond, which we completely understood. Icy later explained that they needed to wait until the drywall was up before moving forward. We understood, but we wish this had been communicated earlier, as we spent quite a bit of time preparing detailed information before learning that we would need to wait. In the meantime, we contacted other blinds companies, and they were happy to provide preliminary quotes and measurements and were much more responsive. By the time our drywall was completed, we had decided to move forward with another company. I'm giving 2 stars because Icy was responsive at the beginning, but overall, the experience was disappointing. Their other reviews are very positive, so perhaps we just had an unfortunate experience. We ultimately chose another shade company that was more flexible, responsive, and willing to work with us.

We ended up selecting Hunter Douglas Duette honeycomb shades for our living and dining rooms, plus a Vertiglide for our sliding door, and Michele's recommendations were spot-on. Jeep Cares knew about the Jeep Delaminating -X81 Warranty but has shown little concern--even after I explained that this is a serious safety issue, as it could prevent the airbags from deploying properly in the event of an accident. Definitely, they don't care and closed my case twice. I even reported it to 7 on Your Side but still nothing. They just referred me to the Bureau of Automotive Repairs. On top of that, I couldn't even find a shop willing to take on the job. Six years later... my driver seat torn so I found Craig's Auto Upholstery to repair the job and that came out awesome. Obviously, they saw my dashboard and advised me that they can also fix it. Craig's Auto Upholstery not only took it on, but absolutely exceeded my expectations. Victor was confident and went above and beyond--the original leather had become so hard and damaged that he had to create his own template from scratch. He carefully matched the vinyl and stitching so it looks just like the original, if not better. The process itself was no small job. An electrician had to remove the entire dashboard and then reconnect everything afterward, and it was all done seamlessly. The quality of the work is incredible--my dash looks amazing, like new again. You can tell they take pride in their craftsmanship and truly know what they're doing. And it only took Victor, Jorge and their Electrician a day and a half to complete the job making it seem like this was an easy project to them! After years of stress over this issue, it feels like such a relief to finally have it fixed the right way. If you've been struggling to find a shop that will actually take on a difficult job and do it right, this is the place. Highly recommend! Thank you Victor and Jorge! All the 5 star reviews are true! I went to Abys because of the Yelp reviews. I had very nice furniture to redo (originally done in aniline dyed leather, with Robert Allen fabrics, etc) as the style was out of date and didn't suit our new place but is otherwise fine. It would be wasteful to ditch it in other words. Aby's team (sorry I do not know the seamstress' name but Orlando did the leather upholstery) did AMAZING work- designer quality. And they enjoyed doing it! Super friendly and super reasonable for the quality of work. The work was done just under when Aby promised it, so that was excellent too. I bought the leather via Aby and the price was fair. I brought her the other fabric and she was fine with it, even though some of it couldn't have been easy to work with (silk, lurex etc). She has at least two quality types of leather and a super nice faux leather (vinyl). She will show you the quality types and not push anything on you or treat you worse if you take the faux leather. I went with the nice leather last time and for the new project (see below) am going with the faux leather. Right now they are working on more projects for me! Thinking of ditching your old furniture because it is worn, or out of style, go to Abys instead and save some $$. I recommend robertallenoutlet.com for close out quality fabrics, but Aby probably has some sourcing tips for you too, or you can just buy the fabric from her. read more

After hunting around and interviewing several Yelp recommended shops, I settled on Abys Custom Upholstery to redo the seats in my 1967 Mercury Comet. While there have been some comments about the location, I can and will recommend Aby and her crew without reservation. First off, Fili was very helpful right out of the gate. I wanted "custom skins" at a reasonable price, and after finding out that the other shops first response was "get us the skins and we can put them on", I really welcomed Fili's input to get my custom seats. He showed me a wide variety of vinyl and cloth choices, and after a couple of comments from me, drilled right down to a terrific combination. Everyone, and I mean everyone, has said "wow - those are really nice", and even the guy that does my other restoration work was really impressed with the fit, feel, and look of my seats. Edit: Forgot to emphasize this in my first edition. Everyone at Abys is really friendly and helpful. Aby, Fili, and Victor are a great team and a genuine pleasure to work with. My experience is that you can count on Aby to get the job done right. I was very impressed with the quality of the work, the reasonableness of the price quoted, and promptness of response and turnaround. For re-upholstering, I brought in an old oak rocking chair with an uncomfortable leather seat that had pretty much been destroyed by our cat, who also tore apart the fabric on the underside. I requested the seat be re-done with new leather and the underside with stronger fabric. Aby set out the various options in a knowledgeable and professional manner, gave me a sample of the leather for my wife to review and approve, and asked me to call to confirm. No problem. To my amazement, the day after I called to confirm, I received a message on my answering machine stating that the chair was ready and went to pick it up. Wow! Our old worn out oak rocking chair had been transformed into a regal looking leather-seated antique, the underside had been cat proofed, and it was now soft and comfy to sit in. I am over the top with the service and quality received by Aby and her team. From the start of meeting her and picking out fabric -to- having my chairs picked up at the house -to- getting my chairs delivered back home looking beautiful....I found the total experience 5 STARS!. One additional service that I had Aby's team work on was my leather couch cushions. I have some tears in the fabric that was connected to the leather. The fabric was replaced per the work order. The best thing was Aby called me and asked if I wanted the denser foam in the cushion - and that they would do this. Funny that I get this call as I just had a partial knee replacement and when laying on the couch in recovery during the day, I was always sinking. So, of course I had Aby's team add a bit onto the work order and had the foam replaced. I had 10 chairs recovered (kitchen and dinning room) & the couch cushions. I am a VERY happy customer! My beautiful detailed orientated wife was searching for an upholster as her Mercedes seats needed to be reupholstered & repaired. As soon as she spoke with Aby by phone & email, she knew she had found a great option as she went back & fourth calling every upholster in the San Jose area. I got my rear seats done from this place. At the beganing I was a little hesitant because of the way the shops look but lets just say they came out way better then I have expected. They really paid attention to detail and quality. My seats even came out even nicer then when they came out of the factory. All the stitching where straight and even there were no wrinkles in fabric all done nice and tight. For the work they do, I have not found any shop that comes close to their prices. I would highly recommend this place not for their prices, but for their craftsmanship. read more

Well, it started to lose its comfort and was broken, fabric was worn down, when you sat down you could feel the springs/edges of the frame - but it was like my wubby, I could not stand the thought of scrapping it. I started researching all the options. Reality - there is no sofa on the market with same exact dimensions. So next up, reupholstery it was! I had first reached out to Paul maybe 6 months ago wanting to understand pricing! He asked for some pics, my measurements and offered rough estimate. Amazing, he did that within a day or two of me reaching out. Then I went radio silent - we had another home project that took all the time/funds. Fast forward to April - I reached out one more time and Paul picked up right where we left off. Said come on down to the shop where they have thousands of samples! You get to touch/feel/bring samples home, but my son zeroed in on our winning fabric pretty quickly! And its actually a more durable fabric than we had before. Fast forward to the process itself - Paul comes over to do his own measurements and see the space. This is when I was provided the real real quote as he had the exact measurements. Let's be honest, I missed a thing or two. Paul then came on a Thursday to pick it up, 2 Thursdays later it was back, better than ever! The cushions are now full and oh so comfortable. The base of the sofa has been repaired, reinforced and is ready for another 10 years of wear and tear! I am so beyond grateful for this journey with Paul and his team. I might have spent a bit more money, but not much when you think about other costs - getting rid of a couch, shipping, white glove delivery. So it probably works out to about the same, but there really is no price on a sentimental piece that has so many memories and now has new ones as my son got to be a part of the process! I had a lousy experience with Dyan, a designer/salesperson at Dan's. After making an appointment to…read morelook at fabric samples in their showroom, we were disappointed because we didn't find any appropriate fabrics (end use: upholstery) in the colors of my daughter's room. The man who was on site that day was nice but not helpful. In emailing Dyan later, I wrote that perhaps we should have come when she was there, because she might know the memo books better, and could point us in the right direction to find an upholstery fabric in a lavender or lilac color. Her response was that "Lavender and lilac are not popular in today's fabric industry, but we do have a selection of white upholstery fabrics." First of all, she's wrong. Mills and fabric houses offer plenty of options in lavender, lilac, and other shades of light purple. Just look at Kravet's, Robert Allen's, or any other to-the-trade website. I worked in that industry for 20 years. Second, that wasn't what I asked. I asked for her help, and I was told the color I was seeking wasn't popular and I could try a white fabric. (Of course you have white fabric!) This was not helpful, and to be told that what I was looking for is not popular is borderline rude. Her response put me off so much that I've delayed the project for a year. I'm now beginning the process with another upholstery shop and am reminded of my negative experience with Dyan at Dan's. Maybe if you get a better salesperson, you'll have a better experience. But I'll never recommend Dan's.

I took my patio covers to him and he suggested the type of foam for my furniture. I thought that I would have to wait weeks for the project to be done. Fred was able to get the job done in just 2 days. Impressive!! I picked up the cushions today and they are PERFECT!! Just like new. Actually, better than new. I highly recommend Valdez Upholstery because Fred is honest, he does amazing work, he's a local business (and I always like to support small business) and I feel like the price for such perfect work is a great value. The reviews of this shop are so great I decided to email the shop via their website and ask about a…read morepotential order. The shop answered a couple hours after the email was sent. However, all I received was an invoice. This invoice was addressed to "walking client" and listed the price of the order I requested. As listed, there was labor, fabric, and shipping charges. I was more than ok with the labor and fabric costs. But shipping charges? For what? I did not request the finished item to be shipped to me. I also did not choose a fabric, nor a color, so how are they charging me $45 in shipping? I asked a very specific question and there was no answer to my question. Just the invoice and a very high shipping charge that was not accounted for. There was no dialogue. No greeting. No invite to speak with them more about the order. Just an invoice. I had read that this company was very personable, kind, and do good work. I cannot confirm any of this from my experience and will not patronage a business unwilling to treat me like a client and not just a paycheck. P.S. For Pillows & More: "Walking client" should be walk-in client. As in a client who walks into your establishment on foot, not an email.
