This is the second time I had Aby reupholster the same bench. We recently made some upgrades to our bedroom, so the bench needed a refresh as well. Aby did such a great job the first time, we didn't hesitate for her to do it again. I sent her a few inspiration pictures, and when I went to pick out fabric, she already had narrowed down the samples for us, which streamlined the selection process. A few weeks later Aby let us know our bench was ready. It was exactly what I wanted, and the fabric had the perfect texture and color. I'm sure I could have bought a new bench for the price of the reupholstering, but I don't think I can find one that's custom made exactly as I want. read more

Oh, boy is this review overdue! It was MONTHS ago that Aby heard my plea for help with a very high-quality old-world-look sofa that was donated to support resettlement of documented, vetted refugees. I'm talking about a really special sofa, with the kind of extra features like a hard-wood frame, brass tacks, and very expensive upholstery fabric, The donor had readily pointed out that one spring had sprung, and I, with my abundance of confidence, thought I could fasten it in place with ease. Ha! Suffice it to say that the job was not within the skillset of me or my volunteer crew that collects, stores and distributes furniture to benefit documented, vetted refugees resettling in and near Santa Clara County. And when we removed the underneath fabric to look at the one sprung spring, we noticed there were several others that also had separated from the hard-wood frame. The donor had no idea there were multiple issues. Enter Aby. I had used her company many years ago for my own dining chair cushion replacement and to reupholster a fancy high-back chair that was dear to me from long ago. She is a small-business owner, and I wanted to continue to support her, if possible. Aby's Upholstery came through. The repaired sofa flew out of our storage space as soon as refugees saw it available. I would give Aby's 4 stars for the workmanship. But I am only giving them 3 stars for the following reason. They let me try different kinds of foam for me to sit on for my sofas. However, when I had to call them for confirmation, each time I spoke to them (total of 3 times) they gave me THREE DIFFERENT ESTIMATES! The first time was the lowest, the second time higher (but will honor my first quote) and the third time was even higher (wrong person). I knew I was probably going to get good service from Aby's Upholstery based on their reviews. Back in 2017, I bought a nice sofa from Design Within Reach that I got for half price, which was too good a deal to pass up, but over the years I realized I did not like black leather upholstery. Since this was a big investment, and I loved the sofa otherwise, I decided to have it re-upholstered in a brighter-colored fabric. I reached out to Aby's and they promptly got back to me to discuss. I decided on a fabric from Herman Miller. I was unsure which shade of blue would best match my other pieces, but thanks to at least half a dozen swatches that Aby ordered and sent to me, I decided on a shade called Angelfish. We continued to discuss details, price, and time frames, at least 50 emails. They always replied within 24 hours and were always friendly and patient. I finally made the decision, paid the deposit, and arranged pickup, for which they showed up right on time. When they finally delivered the finished product less than a week later, it was beyond my expectations. The workmanship was immaculate, as good or better than it came from the manufacturer. Not a stitch out of place. Overall, as great an experience as one could expect. Regarding price, this was not a cheap project at all, but it was worth it, as I now have an heirloom quality piece. I went here a little while back in the hopes of getting a custom cushion made for this seating arrangement I was building at home. I brought my sister-in-law to help me out since it was a gift for my wife. The woman who met us from the get go acted like we were wasting her time and seemed like she was eager to leave the store. The woman we were working with was very short with us and not very cooperative. She gave us one idea for the couch and acted like that was all we needed. My whole experience working with Aby was 5 stars. We wanted to re-upholster our 8 dining room chairs where the fabric was torn and stained beyond repair, and some of the foam sticking out. We have 4 kids aged 1-6, so there's a lot of spillage, rough handling and poking going on. My poor couch was slowly deflating over the years and it was losing support ( it didn't help that my dogs love to sit on top of the cushions); it finally reached the point where the cushions were totally squashed.
