In the Cedar Bluff AL area, I was pleasantly surprised after discovering this place. A huge sports bar with friendly and efficient staff. The service was great, food excellent. Had the wings and burger and both were above average on what you would normally expect from a sports bar. They had tons of TV's but they didn't work well. After an absolutely horrible experience at another restaurant across town, we found the folks at the Gridiron to be very friendly and welcoming. We had all driven for hours and met from out of town to eat with our family in Centre. The food was amazing, and we had a great time. I highly recommend the chicken in the garden, which has smoked chicken over a huge bed of lettuce and fresh tomatoes and cucumbers. Because of our little dog, we had to eat out on the covered porch, which we were fine with. Though I wouldn't necessarily call them pet-friendly, they were accomodating to us out-of-towners- a huge plus for us! (And very much unlike the Leesburg D&D) The ambiance here is that of a typical sports bar, but the service and hospitality along with the good food will bring us back soon! read more

After a very hot day went there to cool down and eat. The a/c was out. We ordered takeout. I had no problem giving my order, we waited only about 15 minutes, got it and left. I ordered grilled chicken salad and chicken quesadilla but got pork. I called the manager and she said she would do a refund but didn't want to and I have not gotten one. I'm about to send them a letter. $25 worth of food I could not eat. She tried to say that they were chicken but my sister got the same thing and her meat was white, unlike mine. A close friend tried this place while passing through Centre and told me the burgers were really great--worth the hour drive to get there, so on Monday March 7, with nothing else on our schedule we decided to make the trip for lunch. It was worth it! One of the best burgers I've had in the last 6 months, and I eat a lot of burgers. A sign on the front door warned that orders could take a little longer because of staffing shortages, but our order arrived in what I would consider a normal amount of time for a place that cooks to order, so basically no problem. I did notice that only half the seating area was being used, but it's a big area, and I attributed that to the possibility they were short a server or two. The servers who were working were hustling and staying on top of people's orders. Our server was particularly nice. The menu has so many choices you could eat there daily for over 2 weeks without ever having the same thing twice. The only problem for this Georgia boy was that the soft drinks were Pepsi and not Coke, but hey, they have ice water so... Bottomline: It was worth the just over 100 mile round trip, and I will go back--even on $5 a gallon gasoline. read more

Gridiron has a unique sports bar vibe complimented with a home style country BBQ feel. The staff charms you with southern hospitality while they please your tastebuds with some pretty darn good BBQ. First, props for putting address / contact info on the menu so I could add this establishment to Yelp. I would like to see then get more business, and I did notice there was another Gadsden. If I lived closer, I would probably check it out, as I did enjoy the BBQ, and I wish I could honestly give Gridiron a higher rating, but there were a few things that require me to dock my rating. First, the beef brisket was pretty good. I have had a lot better, but it was good. The habanero BBQ sauce was spectacular and VERY spicy. I like it hot and spicy, but it does tend to mask less than stellar flavors. So I tried a bit of brisket beforehand and it was good, but maybe I just got lucky, and then I cover the rest in spicy BBQ. The fries were good and the friend green tomatoes were delicious sides. As an appetizer, I got chips and salsa. The salsa was good and then the "Texas Caviar" (or so I call it, black eyed peas and black beans with a bit of a pickled flavor) was spectacular! Problems: short staffed (but not crowded, so it makes sense to have less staff) therefore no one greeted us at the door and we had to wait for someone to notice our arrival. Soup of the day was also bad. It was chicken and dumplings. Tasted like pure gravy, not souplike whatsoever. The Philly Steak was average. They charge extra for mushrooms and peppers. We asked for that but rather than any mushrooms, we asked for double peppers. We were going to pay more. I suspect that if it were not for winning me over with Texas Caviar and awesome habanero BBQ sauce, I would have found the brisket to be average like the Philly Steak. Steak Burger Platter was lame. It was like a dried out hamburger without a bun. The service was quick after we ordered and very friendly, lots of southern hospitality. I left happier than the rest of my party. I quickly forget that you have to specify 'unsweet' tea in Alabama as you will be served sweet tea. This place is completely under-rated on most of the reviews. There are NOT a ton of sit-down Restaurants in the Leesburg/Centre/Cedar Bluff area.... But we have been here six times in the last year (we live in Huntsville, but have a permanent Camper here on Weiss Lake..) The service has always been SUPER (great, friendly, and polite girls!) The food is GOOD (nothing to complain about at ALL..) Plus, they have about 12-15 TV's throughout the place, and it's a great place to watch the Bama game in the fall! ;) Oh, and a pretty good Beer selection, too! Fri 2/26/2016 Just tried The Gridiron for the first time. The sweet tea was awesome. Ordered the salsa sampler for appetizer, it was bland, needed a bit more kick! This was the only downside! I ordered the buffalo shrimp platter with onion straws and Mac n cheese, my friend ordered the seafood platter which had two catfish fillets, fried oysters, and shrimp. He chose onion straws and fried green tomatoes for sides. His wife had the boss hog potatoes which was huge and fully loaded with BBQ and all the fixings. My shrimp was delectable and the onion straws were to die for, the Mac n cheese looked like easy Mac but actually tasted a whole lot creamier. I tried her BBQ potato and its up there with the best I've ever had! He gave me a whole fish fillet to try and its probably the best thing on the table!! We shared a wing sampler and all but three came home with us! Great food, great price, great service. Will be back even if it is 30-40 minutes drive!! read more

This is the first time I have ever written a review of a restaurant. Just came from the Grid Iron and have eaten there in the past on several occasions. Usually it is pretty fair, but this time I was a little disappointed. I ordered a dozen wings and fries. The fries were okay, maybe a little too salty but the wings were definitely left over from lunch or maybe the day before and re heated. They were dried out and hard. Not fit to eat. I can't understand why restaurants do this to their patrons. I gave it 3 stars because of past experiences. If it had been my first trip there, I'm not sure I would have given it one. Come on Grid Iron y'all can do better than this. Don't serve left overs and try to pass it off as fresh. I will say that the manager did make it right by taking it off my bill. read more

Out of towners here for fishing trip, so this was the only place close to our hotel. We should have just gone to Little Ceasers...not a bad place but not worth the money we spent. Bill with 3 drinks (beer/wine), an app, and two meals was 75 dollars. The corn nuggets were as expected, and the fried pickles just sat in their own grease. Potatoes were good but fries were not hot, on the chilled sode. The ribs were dry but coated in sauce (sauce was good though) but the rib eye was okay. Most tasted frozen or refrigerated for a long time. The good part was if you are single, you need to come here.
