Took a drive out to Dogtown to grab a bite to eat, was wanting breakfast but we missed it by about thirty minutes. So we stayed for an early lunch. A casual diner with booths on the walls and a few tables in the middle. The counter and register towards the back of the restaurant. We were welcomed walking in and grabbed a booth. Our kind and friendly server brought us menus and got our drink orders. After giving the menu a read over, we started with their Fried Green Tomatoes. They were very good, fresh made, done well and fried to a great golden crisp. A good start. I opted for a pair of their Hot dogs with slaw, tater tots and a lemonade. The food is soul food and home made. Giant delicious cheese burgers, morning includes eggs, bacon, gravy, sausage and biscuits. They also, have salads, small shrimp and a variety of so much more. The servers are going to please you one way or another. Just a sit down cafe for farmers, loggers, linemen. Officers of the law and yes, your classey ladies from the city frequent this eatery. Not a great first impression when we drove into the parking lot for a late lunch, but when we walked into this tiny place, my wife remarked that it was clean. Typical fast food menu of burgers and chicken sandwiches and a friendly server. I ordered what I thought was a grilled spicy chicken sandwich "all the way" (lettuce, tomato, mayo), my wife had the steak burger dinner that included 2 side choices. She chose fries and coleslaw. The steak burger was huge, I'd guess 1/2 lb. The coleslaw was cold, fresh, and delicious - not overly sweet like many others. The krinkle fries were pale and could have been fried longer. My spicy chicken sandwich was good, but small on a 3" bun. I asked for pickles and were promptly served. Total bill was $14.04 - quite a bargain! read more

What a nice surprise in Dogtown, Alabama. We were going to look at furniture at Akins Furniture and passed Big Time Cafe right about lunch time. Either they had a full house for lunch or everyone in Dogtown drove two cars. That's always a good sign. After shopping, we stopped for lunch and were not disappointed. Real food!! Real good prices! We stopped here on the way from Little River Canyon to Atlanta. We were looking for some southern food and this was the first place we found. It was completely packed with locals which is a good sign. The one poor waitress was completely overwhelmed with the crowd. We had the fried green tomatoes, which were good but greasy. The rest of our food was really good. My order was wrong, but not a big deal to me and I'm sure they would have made it right if l had said something. read more

Great hometown cafe. They have good food. If you go you must try the double bacon cheeseburger. You will not be disappointed.

If you follow me you know I love diners more than any other restaurant. This one even has a sign outside that states that this is not a fast food establishment. Service is always friendly and food great. We come when we're town. read more

Found this gem after I started working in the area and heard the locals recommend it. My overall experience was great I had the double bacon burger with a side of baby baked potatoes. The burger was huge and delicious. The baby baked potatoes were excellent. I did have to wait a little longer than expected but it was well worth it. read more

One of the best restaurants in Dogtown you can eat at. I've ate here several times with my grandparents. It has been open for many years. Also, for people who smoke, you can smoke inside at this cafe. read more

A fantastic place to eat, for what you might consider is a "hole in the wall" place to eat. We were on vacation, and were recommended by Desoto State Park rangers. A small building just off the intersection in Dogtown, but GREAT food! The burgers were delicious! Good variety on the menu, good portion sizes, and the prices were VERY affordable.
