***Goong Makam Prawns EXCELLENT*** The GOONG MAKAM PRAWN was a clear standout among appetizers and my only complaint/mistake was - "why did I not order two??" It had a nice TANGY taste coming from the Tamarind sauce, while the SPICINESS was coming from the red chili. And then there were thin slices of nuts (cashew/almond) sprinkled on top. Definitely a nice and complex dish where multiple tastes came together perfectly!Certainly not cheap at $138 but I do think it's worth it. Btw, this appetizer was listed on a separate small menu which had a handful of special appetizers listed.... so I'm not sure if the dish will remain permanently.... SO, HURRY!!! The other appetizer was Thai Pop (Chicken). This one is available on the regular menu. Another great dish which is a nice supporting actor to the star i.e. the Prawn appetizer. If the Goong Makam Prawn were to be called BATMAN, then the Thai Pop would undoubtedly be ROBIN. These were crunchy deep fried fritters of chicken and onion covered in a thin layer batter. The thin layer is good because it doesn't overpower the main ingredient i.e. the chicken. The drinks - Iced Lemon Tea GHC Style and the Thai Iced Coffee were quite good too. Especially the lemon tea. Among the MAINS, the TOM YUM SEAFOOD FUSILLI was very nice. It had a mid-sized piece and some scallops and calamari. And a good dash of tomatoes. Definitely a good example of Thai fusion, combining the Fusilli Pasta with the Tom Yum flavor. The Spaghetti Carbonara had nice bite-sized pieces of ham and crunchy pieces of bacon..... and very generous amounts of creamy sauce. I could go back to Greyhound just to taste that first Appetizer - GOONG MAKAM PRAWNS. I just might do that next weekend!

Catch up with friends at IFC for lunch, and my friend recommended here. She is a fan of this place becos of the minced pork DIY wrap. I tried one from her dish and it was good indeed but too much work for me lah....The Tom Yum noodle I've ordered was also yummy. We did queued up for a whie but that worth it all.

Very hipster

When I initially walked into Greyhound, I thought I was in a hipster cafe. From the walls, to the lights, to even the menu, everything seemed very hipster. Even the dishes themselves had a bit of creative flare in then. I ordered the mini gourmet burgers because the descriptions piqued my curiosity. There were 3 burgers each with different toppings: standard cheddar and bacon, grilled vegetables, and STRAWBERRY and Gruyere cheese. Needless to say, it was the strawberry that interested me most. The burger patties themselves were a little subpar (over cooked and with little flavor), but each of the toppings truly overcame that problem. The vegetable burger has a fresh and spicy taste, the cheddar and bacon had umami, but the best was definitely the strawberry and gruyere. The strawberry gave a distinct sweet taste that was blended well with the cheese. This interesting combo really packed a punch. Additionally, I had a cherry coke float, which was sweet and had just the right amount of cherry syrup. Finally, I had the Nutella and banana cheesecake for dessert. To be honest, even though it was beautifully played, it needed more Nutella, as the banana was overwhelming. All in all, while not having the best food, Greyhound has interesting food combinations and a great atmosphere and I would definitely come again.

When asked for a great Thai restaurant for dinner, our hotel concierge quickly recommended Mak Mak…read moreand snagged us a reservation for a Saturday dinner for two. The restaurant is hidden back in the corner of a maze like area known as Landmark near the Central MTR station. Once we reached the Landmark, we just stopped at an information desk to receive final directions. We arrived early for our reservation which originally was made for seats at the bar but at this earlier time they had a table free for us. The bar sitting is not like typical high top seating but rather a long table attached to a wall at normal table height. You and your guests will just be sitting beside one another rather than across a table and perhaps sitting next to a stranger. The staff there were super friendly and spoke very good English which helped us tremendously. After a warm welcome, we were quickly shown to our table and offered water to start. We saw all our favorite Thai dishes on the menu just like back home in the States. We started with fried spring rolls and a couple Tsingtao beers to take the edge off a long day of walking around Hong Kong. The spring rolls were on the skinny side but with seven of them on the plate and a lovely chili dipping sauce on the side they hit the spot. Served with the rolls were some fresh vegetables that we can never seem to get enough of when traveling far from home. For our next course, we went with Tom Yum soup another favorite of ours. I was a little hesitant at first to order it as it was priced at $20 USD which seemed high to me for a bowl of soup but it turns out to be a big bowl that is easily shared between two. It is served on a stand with a candle below to keep it warm and two smaller bowls with a ladle to serve it up. Our server poured our first bowls and ensured we each got one of the two huge shrimp (head and eyeballs included) along with plenty of our goodies. The soup was wonderful with a multitude of flavors. Easily the best Tom Yum we have ever experienced. It was quite spicy more so then we are used to having but still very enjoyable. For our last course, we selected Pad See Ew with pork and were pleasantly surprised to find more pork than noodles in the dish. This dish also can be shared for two if desired. Everything tasted very fresh with a wonderful sauce and at the perfect temperature. We passed on any dessert at this point but not for lack of options but rather room to put it. Overall, my wife and I enjoyed a wonderful meal here at Mak Mak with friendly and helpful service at a very reasonable price. We hope to have an opportunity to come back and try some other dishes.

The very first Thai AYCE brunch I've ever been to!…read more I appreciate that it's AYCE and not buffet style, there's a standard menu you can order dishes from. The food is not made in bulk and you can decide on the spice level of your food. Their larb is delicious, but spicy, so you'll want this option to decide on the spice level. Great selection of food from appetizers, soup, mains and the best part it includes dessert! Service is both friendly and quick. The brunch itself is affordable (esp. for AYCE) and you can opt for a smaller portion so you can try different things and not waste food. Totally worth a try if you're in the mood for Thai food and want a good variety.

Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. We ordered two dishes that were recommended at the front of the menu; 鮮辣香茅蝦 Spicy Lemongrass Shrimp Starter - Texture as hard as wood but if you just eat the shrimp it tastes alright 泰式生蝦刺身 - Thai style Raw Shrimp (Goong Che Nam Pa) - Super spicy awesome shrimp shooter For our main meal; Grilled Pork Neck Meat - Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Thai Green Curry Chicken - Full of flavor and creamy. Mango Sticky Rice - Not too sweet, just perfect in every single way. (but old photos shows their portions got smaller)

We made reservations so we got a prime seat by the window with a view and our waiter was more than helpful with everything. The unique thing about this resturant is that you can pick your seafood before they prepare it the way you want. Everything is fresh and very large! The one shrimp and oysters we got were the size of flip flops. Everything was very tasty and I am in love with the curry crab. After you eat the crab, order some hot roti and clean the plate. It's amazing!

We were there around 18:30 or so, and there were hardly a few tables occupied. The place has a fairly sleek and simple look. They have clearly marked options that could be made vegetarian. And not the ideal spot for people watching, but they have dainty little tables set up outside, if that's your thing. The hubster got TukTukTini (such a fun name!) which was lemongrass infused vodka with fresh passionfruit, rhubarb and lemongrass syrup for sweetness. It was good and had that tang. For eating, we got the pad thai noodles, sans spices (the child!), green curry fried rice and a massaman curry. Hungry people + delicious food meant polished plates. The pad thai was the least yummy dish that evening, missing the quintessential tamarind sauce taste. The noodles were cooked fine. They got the sugar and peanuts on the side on the plate, not mixed in. Not bad, per se, but I like my pad thai saucy. The green curry rice was very, very good. The rice had assimilated all that curry flavour. And that stasis of sweet, salt, spice was all there. The curry was supreme. Quite rich and lush, with the flavours all coming through that creaminess. And the potatoes! This is the second place, I recollect that probably either baked or boiled and fried the potatoes before adding them in the curry and it provided another dimension to that curry! Rather than bulky potato chunks blobbed in, to be cooked along with other vegetables. I could've eaten this plain up as a soup. More photos and details on the blog - thevegetarianvoyager[dot]com

This review is based only on the drinks - We had dinner elsewhere…read more Let's get to it: I had the Raspberry Lemongrass Martini. The name itself makes you think this is more of a sweet kind of drink. Which, yes, it was. But to me, I was lovin' it! This could be dangerous because I could possibly get drunk easily thinking I'm only having a glass of juice. Anyway, my companion had a tom yum martini, which she says has a bit of a kick to it. Interesting. With the comfy looking booths and fancy bar chairs, i'd say that this place is a great date spot. Let's go on a date!
