I was only interested in a light bite and she happily hooked me up with beef and chicken skewers and a couple of spring rolls. All of these items were excellent! I wasn't here to eat dinner, so didn't get a chance to try other items, but I'm confident enough to say that I would anticipate greatness throughout their Thai, Malay, and Indian offerings. The service alone was a reason to give them an outstanding review. I love places like this!

Everything we had was flavorful and tasted like the kind of Thai food you'd find in Thailand. I also loved the decor. The restaurant has such a strong Thai aesthetic that you really feel immersed in the experience rather than sitting in a typical Thai restaurant in Hong Kong. Prices are definitely on the pricier side, but I didn't regret spending a little more here. The food was good, the atmosphere was great and the whole experience felt worth it. Samsen will always be a recommendation I give to anyone craving great Thai food. The combination of authentic flavors and the beautiful setting makes them stand out.

It's difficult in many parts of the word to find authentic, aromatic Thai dishes because they just don't have the talent base. But if you visit Hong Kong and need your curry... this is your spot. Hands down the best Thai restaurant in Hong Kong. It's small and cozy, and the owners are Thai. The food was so good, I closed my eyes and I thought I was in Pataya! We came here for a late night dinner as we had the Thai food craving. The first one we wanted to go to closed early at 8pm, so we walked a couple of blocks to arrive to this little gem. If you've always been how I used to be at Thai restaurants, ordering the safe dishes like green curry, Panang curry and the rest of the curries, Pad Thai, drunken noodles, chicken satay, then maybe you'd wanna try some other Thai stuff here, because this place is really authentic and the chef cooks good food. I highly recommend their cold appetizers such as the spicy papaya salad with salted crab and the minced pork salad. The dishes don't taste simple as they sound because of all the special Thai herbs and spices they use. As a person who has never attempted cooking Thai dishes before, how they cook always baffles me. Watch out for the Thai spicy level. I'd go with a 3 only if you just want a little bit of kick. If you can do a Thai 10, more power to you! The papaya salad with salted crab, as the name spells out, can be a bit on the salty side, so it's good if you have some white rice as a filler. The minced pork salad is to be eaten like a Chinese chicken wrap where you scoop the minced pork into the cup-shaped lettuce leaf and shove it into your mouth. The one hot dish I absolutely devoured was the stir-fried morning glory Thai style! It tastes like what a lot of HK locals would refer to 夠穫氣 which literally means "enough wok essence" Yeah it sounds so dumb... What it means is there is enough fire, heat and power to make a good stir-fry! The curries there were just okay, but definitely decent enough to fulfill your curry cravings. To wrap the meal up, how can we forget the mango sticky rice! I made my own mango sticky rice before, so I know what's good and not, and this place got it right! The rice was chewy and soft, and the coconut sauce had the right consistency and flavor. The mango would not be in season in the winter so it might taste a bit sour, but it wouldn't be their fault, so if you want a perfect mango sticky rice, order during the summer. Definitely a good spot for Thai food in Wan Chai!

What's amazing is that they serve up authentic Thai food. I've been here a few times and it's has never disappointed me. Tom Khaa Kai, Pad Thai, and Hanianese Chicken are some of my favourite dishes. There's so much flavour in everything! This is their first branch so the décor has never been updated. Think simple 2nd floor shop. Ma & Pa style decorations and tiny toilets. Their Causeway Bay shop is loads better with décor but it's missing a je ne sais quoi. Some notes: There are loads of dishes that you may want to order a head of time. So check out them menu and give them a call. Also lunch, dinner and bigger parties should book ahead. It's a small dinning room. Would definitely come back!

Apparently every table at the restaurant was celebrating birthdays. With the lead of Chingmy, all the waitresses started coming out and danced along. Although we didn't celebrate anyone's birthday at our table, we enjoyed the vibe and clapped along with the Thai birthday song. When it comes to food, you're rest assured you can get authentic Thai food here. We pre-ordered 2 plates of raw shrimp in advance and they were very fresh! We also ordered some beef and chicken satay skewers, shrimp cakes and fish cakes as appetizers. Oh my lord... the fish cakes were the best I've ever tried! Chewy yet not fishy! For the main course, we had pork knuckles, grilled fish with lemon sauce (served on the grill), curry with deep fried chicken and the stir-fried clams in chili paste. Everything was rich in flavor and simply delicious!!! For dessert, of course we cannot miss the mango sticky rice! There was not one dish that was just mediocre. I must say everything was excellent here! Sawali Club is a private kitchen, so do book in advance and they only accept cash. I recommend this place for groups as you can order many dishes to share.

First impressions were good: I liked the homey decor and the staff appeared to all be Thai. It wasn't too saucy, unlike the one I tried at nearby Koh Thai further up the escalators. They kinda scrimped on the shrimp, but surprisingly I'm the type of person who likes more noodles than chicken/beef/shrimp so this didn't bother me too much. It might if you like more of the latter! I washed it all down with a Thai iced tea, though it wasn't the best as it got watered down easily. I'd happily return to try their pineapple fried rice and other dishes next time!
