I am extremely disappointed with how Greyhound handled both a lost property situation and a disability-related communication accommodation request. On March 3, 2026, I traveled on Greyhound Bus Route US1160 from San Antonio, TX to Austin, TX. After exiting the bus in Austin, I realized about one hour later that I had inadvertently left my suitcase in the secured undercarriage baggage compartment. Because the undercarriage storage area is locked and only accessible by Greyhound personnel, the suitcase remained in the company's custody while the bus continued to its final destination in Dallas. I immediately submitted a lost property report while the bus was still en route. Greyhound initially stated that the investigation process would take approximately 7 business days. It has now been about a month without recovery of the suitcase or a clear explanation regarding what inspection procedures were conducted or what investigative steps were taken. The suitcase contained electronics, clothing, and personal items, including limited-availability apparel that cannot easily be replaced. One electronic device contained in the suitcase has shown recent internet connectivity activity after the loss was reported, which raises concerns regarding how reported lost property is handled once a claim is submitted. In addition to the lost property issue, I requested a reasonable communication accommodation due to a disability that affects my ability to process complex written communication in high-stress situations. I requested phone communication to ensure effective participation in the claims process; however, communication continued primarily through email, which made it significantly more difficult to obtain clear updates or meaningfully participate in resolving the issue. Additionally, when asking questions regarding Emotional Support Animal (ESA) policies, responses at times felt dismissive when simply seeking clarification regarding applicable rules. Given that Greyhound operates nationwide and serves many individuals who rely on accessible transportation, transparency and consistency in both lost property handling procedures and accessibility communication practices are extremely important. I hope the company improves: * transparency in lost property investigations * consistency in communication accommodations * clarity in customer support processes * handling of disability-related inquiries I am sharing this experience so other travelers can be aware and so the company has an opportunity to improve its procedures. I have traveled with the Greyhound Bus Company for years. And while they are the affordable way to go, the quality cleanliness and safety are seriously lacking. Not to mention their Customer Service "people" have gotten extremely rude, when you ask the simplest of questions. Yet they will go outta Their way to find New reasons and excuses to rob you. This company is owned from some where in Germany. They don't care the USA costumer. Inlight of the storm passing in the south I called to rebook my departure to Dallas. The lady on the phone said they didn't receive a notification of bad weather. I said mam I'm looking at. That's when I asked was she over seas. Yes she was. When you call to get a refund, they stall and never return your payment. I believe this business practice is illegal in the United States of America. Pay and get no product or service nor refund. No compassion for their customers My husband and I had to walk 5+ miles to the bus in heavy rain at 4am. Our navigation was giving us wrong directions we couldn't make it. The bus driver lied about smelling like alcohol! When I told her I don't drink she claimed I was being combative and said I will not be boarding the bus. She stepped away for a while and she returned saying that I could board but I declined because I didn't trust her and didn't feel safe. If she could lie about smelling alcohol, she's capable of who knows what! The lady at the station gladly with an apology got me on the next bus. She had no problem embarrassing me and treating me like dirt and I know she has done this before! I purchased a ticket last year and 2 hours later after purchasing the ticket I cancelled the trip. Greyhound would not reimburse me for the ticket . They stated they can only give me a voucher for the trip. I went to use the voucher and it stated that it was invalid and then the voucher expired . I have contacted Greyhound only through email since they don't have a phone number for customer service. They stated not there problem voucher is expired . Then they stopped answering my emails . Very poor experience across the board, between bus being over booked and police having to be called cause a passenger created a scene which put everyone on the bus behind our schedule. Then let's talk about the driver and the bus. The bus was literally falling apart, such as the mirror in the bathroom almost falling completely off. As far as the driver didn't have the air on at all, so it was very hot and clammy inside a full bus (probably over capacity) but in 5.5 hours he didn't let anyone get off the bus at any quick stops. Which some people on the bus have medical conditions where they need to stay hydrated/eat every couple hours not almost 6, along with other medical issues such as being a dieabetic. So with all these issues, I will probably be consulting legal council and pursue legal issues. read more

The Dave Matthews Band Greyhound Street sang about this station, and they were damn right. Much like the Greyhound station in Houston, it's a pretty bad area even though it's right next to the downtown, and I think the Greyhound station actually creates the nature of that area because it just has a lot of low income and homeless people hanging out here and it's kind of sad really because it's not the first impression you want, but it's the truth and it's capitalism it's what happens. I like poor people more than I like rich people, but try telling yourself that when you're being aggressively followed by panhandlers around this station, including outside in the dark. read more

Please people, boycott Greyhound NOW! They have just put in place a policy in which there are no more local phone numbers to individual bus stations. If you lose an item there is no customer service number to call and the item is sent to the central office after a "few days". The "lost and found" form is inefficient because the main office in Texas has NO way of calling a local bus station to determine if the item was left. In order to get back to you they have to wait until the lost item is sent to Texas, many days later. Items lost on a Greyhound Bus are VERY hard to retrieve with this new system in place. If this is the customer service they provide to those of us that can least afford it, then they should be boycotted. The customer service I'm sure is better on the airlines and AMTRAK. So I worked for them for about 5 minutes (2 weeks, to be exact). It was HORRIBLE! You start out as a student, driving busses that have severe body damage, trash all over the place, torn seats, toilets that don't have supplies like tp and hand sanitizer. 3rd day of training our class was flown to different cities to retrieve busses. Long driving days, hostile work environment, harassment. For decades, they have been the ONLY interstate company providing this kind of service, so they quit trying. As a CDL bus driver with almost 2 decades experience, we expect first aid kits and body fluid kits on board; however drivers are "not doctors", so nothing on board for the passenger. Drivers are expected to be ready for their next run 9 hours after completing their last run. You can be sent anywhere, anytime. Training, drive time, and testing is unfair and arbitrary with some drivers being pencil whipped, while others picked apart and failed foe no reason. read more

Most honest review you'll probably ever read. First off, they do NOT do refunds for any reason, and you will only find this out IF you are able to reach a customer service rep. They may reimburse you with a voucher that is less than half the price of your trip. I ended up getting a 21.00 voucher for an $110 trip. Also, if safety and comfort are two of your concerns, PLEASE scrape up the extra money to ride RED COACH! Greyhound, especially in Tallahassee, has become a show. The "new" location is outside on the corner of a very busy intersection. It is a hassle trying to get into the terminal, that it is also used for the city bus routes to go in and out. As I waited for my bus, I witnessed personally about 5 people get ran over by incoming traffic while trying to access the Greyhound. It is rumored as told to me by one of the GH work staff that the company's "new" owner, who lives in another country, purchased GH with a $1 bid. There are no plans to upgrade or improve its conditions until late 2028. Along the route, there are many other stops that have been turned into merely parking lots, even a few roadside stops, which in my opinion is very dangerous and unsafe, especially in extreme weather conditions such as rain, and currently snow. Most of the availability has been reduced to one route a day. Budget cuts are very noticeable and extremely DEGRADING to even someone who can barely afford a ticket. From a rider who used to be dedicated to Greyhound, I would rather drive or even use HITCH to get to my destination on trips where I just want to relax & dont feel like driving a long distance. Instead of GH being honest and admitting the company is failing and just simply merging or closing the business, like many failing post pandemic businesses, they would rather scapegoat the comfort of loyal clients to save themselves. I am not exaggerating when I say that my last trip with GH was HORRIBLE to say the least. The best terminal I have come across is in Jacksonville FL and this is only because it's terminal is privately owned, yet still scantily clad. If you don't mind having your trip ruined of diminished, by all means, GH is the way to go. Or if you are riding one way to a destination and just MUST make it by any means neccesary, maybe it is OK. But of you have any ounce of dignity and don't want to be waiting outside in wet, cold, frigid, or extremely hot in the summer conditions, please use other means of transportation. Many of the companies stay in business because of complacent sheeple who allow these things to continue or are scared to speak up, but the majority is rarely right. Only good about GH is SOME of the drivers, that is only if you get on board with the right one. If you are considering riding with Greyhound, please consider better options if you can. Why did I pay over $500 to travel via Greyhound?! I cannot even put into words how miserable it was from beginning to end. The woman driving the bus was very harsh. She announced that she sounds mean but it's just her voice. Uh no, she shouldn't be anywhere near customers - ever! During a stop she got off the bus to yell at passengers for standing too close while waiting to board. The website said most had TVs with movies playing - not this one - and the WiFi was useless. The ride itself was bumpy and the twists and turns jerked our bodies in all directions. Within the first two hours my neck and back were hurting. Absolute trash. They were delayed by an hour so I couldn't make my next connection transfer at Texarkana to Kansas. Rather than reimburse me some of the $220 ticket, they said I didn't reach the 2 hour delay threshold. And instead, advised me to take the late bus at the Dallas bus station, miss my connection and wait another however many hours for the next bus in Texarkana. After waiting over 12 hours because of the same issue from San Antonio to Dallas, I couldn't wait any longer and bought a flight back. read more

If I could rate no stars. The customer service if it isn't already illegal should be. I was accosted by the "security" at the dallas terminal on 205 s Lamar location. No one could provide information which caused me to miss the bus. I kept asking to go outside for my bus and the security yelled at me and told me to wait inside until he called us, making several of us to miss the bus. All because we used the "wrong"exit door he had us turn around and wait. Upon returning inside to call customer service the security guards began to tell us since we no longer had a valid ticket we had to "get the f*** out of there". I finally was able to speak with customer service and they do not offer a new bus ticket or refund. The ticket was not cheap at $120 I decided to fly southwest instead ...Found a flight for $150. I was not the only one who was treated this way, a gentlemen with his wife and 3 little girls and two older gentlemen also were forced to miss the bus. What kind of service is this????I would not recommend ever using this service. Use tornado bus, they offer customer service and don't treat their customer like prisoners. Last night I bought a Greyhound ticket from Chicago to Detroit so I could visit my sister. The ticket cost me $70. This morning my sister told me that she's sick, and because I don't want to get sick too I've decided to cancel. Greyhound refuses to refund the $70 for a ticket that I can't use. They offered me an exchange. I said yes to the exchange. They want me to pay another $20. After numerous calls back and forth and even a couple of "customer care" phone numbers that turned out to be fake they informed me that my only option is to give them another $20 to exchange my ticket, bringing my total to $90. In the space of half an hour, Greyhound went from robbing me to trying to extort me for more money. Do not under any circumstances give these people your business. read more

The customer service is appealing. I scheduled a very ill friend from Austin to Dallas in order to get him to UTSW Hospital for a kidney transplant. He arrived at his pick up stop at 8 am. The departure time was 12:45. By noon there were 8 other people waiting for the same bus. It was delayed 35 minutes. Fine. The by 1:20 it had not arrived I staring tracking. It took the woman 16 minutes to inform me the bus had already arrived and departed. These people at the stop never saw a bus. It is 5:30pm and Greyhound is offering no help, no explanation. They told me there's no customer service dept to call. Just email from there website. This is just discussing to treat people, typically of low income, like their lives DO NOT MATTER. Come to find out, this HUGE company, est a billion years ago is not a member of the BBB. No shock there. They'd have would have to be responsible for their hideous business practices. If I Could Give A Zero, I Would In Feb my dad traveled from WA to AZ. Greyhound "lost" his bag in AZ, come to find out it was tagged incorrectly and never put on the bus. A month in AZ and they never could retrieve his bag. Greyhound issued a refund for lost baggage but they foubd the bag, then Covid hit. Since April I have been given the run around by numbers to call, half of then deactivated, and then told the only way I can reach baggage claims is by email. Ive been going back and forth trying to find where this bag is. Baggage claim told me they found it, I told them I needed it sent to WA and they told me it was at the station in Tacoma, WA. I went down to the station in Tacoma in person in July where they told and physically showed me they did not have the bag, looked it up and found out it was not properly tagged and never sent to Tacoma. I again reached out via email today where they told me they confirmed the issue with my dad themselves and gave a confirmation number which is a total lie! He is in my care, they could not display proof of "things being taken care of" and what the confirmation nimber was for, no one ever contacted him nor I and we still do not know where his bag is and still I get no firm answers from this company and no effective help. There are very important records in his bag he needs for his medical and we havent been able to get any service regarding this issue for nearly six months now. read more

The worst model for a pleasant experience. Where should I begin? Ok my first bus left early as I was waiting to check my bags in for the must have under bus tags. I informed their staff of which bus and I needed tags. All I got was go stand in line. Well I missed it and it has been a horrible trip. All stops have been delayed . Bus drivers not showing up to work. Customer service staff screaming profanities at customers. Bus drivers refusing to drive the group of lined up passengers. Allowing border patrol to come aboard without a warrant. They actually took a gentleman off the bus. If you have to as is the case for all of us at times, be prepared for a bad time. With a generic Dallas address yet not the one on Lamar Street, which appears to be the bus station, this appears to be Greyhound Bus Lines' main corporate listing. Greyhound has been acquired or merged into a larger entity which is headquartered in Cincinnati. However, with occasional trips in different areas, I will review them here, as others have done, rather than at a station. Sometimes, you want to do things differently and experience a new venue with new faces and a new attitude, the latter of which is a Patti Labelle song in the hit movie "Beverly Hills Cop." (Give a listen ... it will take you back in time.) But, mostly, you may want to save some coin. For that, the early purchase economy fares between two cities in the same region can cost what some people pay for 2 to 3 complicated cocktails, such that losing those funds in case you don't travel might be annoying yet not quite debilitating. Naturally, most folks are here to complain and can't look at the Greyhound equation from both sides. It's a mixed bag. You get what you pay for. Generally speaking, the routes in less densely populated regions that don't involve a transfer tend to fare better. That's not a pun. I'm talking about on-time performance, a more pleasant experience, a cleaner bus, and, yes, even less drama. I have ridden Greyhound between Portland and Seattle when I haven't driven and also to cross the Sierra Nevada during a snowy event. In Canada, I have taken them between Montreal, Quebec and Burlington, Vermont, crossing the border en route, and once from Edmonton to Calgary. With Portland and Seattle, the buses ran close enough to schedule, the ride and the drivers were unremarkable, and the tickets were cheap. When I used them from Montreal to Burlington, Vermont, it bordered on great. That's not a pun, either. The bus station is very clean (it's Canada), the bus crawled through Centre-Ville and allowed you to survey the city from up high from the Jacques-Cartier Bridge, the crowd was well behaved and incredibly diverse, an international border was crossed, it was less than $20 (U.S.), and the driver, a street smart and punchy Bostonian, was hilarious. (That bus continues on to Boston.) Then, I've taken them in the eastern U.S. where it involved a transfer. It was a disaster ... in both directions. On the outbound ride, the incoming bus had experienced a mechanical issue (that's one bizarre story) and it set off a cumulative problem with late departures. Greyhound stations do not have electronic boards like airports and train stations. That's probably by design. Instead, employees update you on what's going on via yelling and they can be incorrect, disinterested, and/or brusque. A lot of these people shouldn't be dealing with the public. I get it ... a Greyhound station makes for sensory overload. The outbound bus left 4 hours late! A lot of the passengers were commiserating and, being the "creep" that I am, a lady from one of the countries hewn out of the old Yugoslavia asked me to keep an eye on her dad (who didn't speak English) and make sure he got on the right buses because she had to go to her shift at a hospital and couldn't hang around any longer. On the return trip, there was police activity at the station, the bus went out over an hour late, and the connecting bus, which would have received over a dozen passengers from our bus, didn't wait for us. Again, the staff at the intermediate station was rude and shifted us from door to door. Based on the perfect alignment of the stars or something, I called an 800 number and found a one way rental car on the cheap and got to my final destination. I found out that it was the right decision, though I was tempted to wait. The only upbeat thing on this trip was a trio of bohemian Denver minority 20-somethings sitting in the row in front of me who were saying all sorts of random and off color things, possibly aided and abetted by their obvious consumption of marijuana ... but which offends my olfactory nerve, owing to its curious scent between that of patchouli oil and manure. As for others complaining about refunds, my experience was not at all like theirs. When I called in on the missed connection, the accented customer service agent (in another country) looked at the activity that day and informed me that subsequent schedules were cancelled and I got a full refund with no questions asked. That allowed me to pay for that rental car. As for the bags, one went underneath and a small one stayed with me. I wouldn't want to experience the loss of luggage with a bus company, so keep an eye on the hatch below when it opens and closes ... and on your things. If you want to save money, have room for a margin of error in terms of time, and want to get in touch with your bohemian side, take Greyhound. If it's a "no" to any of the above, then you probably shouldn't. Again, with Greyhound, I've found that "it depends" and you get what you pay for. read more

Buying a ticket does not guarantee that you'll get a seat on a bus, only that you have bought a ticket. Despite having a ticket for a scheduled time, you may be bumped (repeatedly) until a bus with an available seat arrives. Apparently Greyhound sells more tickets than it has seats, quite a scam! Greyhound should only sell the seats they have available, as is done by commercial airlines. Also, though you'd think their system would allow for changes and rescheduling, Greyhound claims that tickets should be changed or rescheduled closer to the date of travel at the Greyhound station, however when you go to the station close to the date (including going back a 2nd time the morning of) they are unable to reschedule the ticket. If you're Greyhound station is just a stop, without a station, you may not get picked up, and watch as your bus just passes by....WITHOUT YOU! I took Greyhound from San Antonio to Fort Worth/Dallas. I took the Megabus from Dallas to San Antonio. This review compares them. MegaBus Dallas: *East Dart Station Temp Station Venue: *Shares station with the city's public bus transportation *Small Megabus office with one person *heated small space *Limited indoor seating *bathrooms *Food: vending machines that had locks on it. Wasn't able to access it if I wanted to. Organization: *They had you line up as the employee wrote down a few things as he went person to person. He then preceded to have us follow him outside as we waited 8 mins outside for the bus to come in 45 degree weather. *Once the bus arrived he didn't separate us very well between passengers needing to check baggage. So people were all over the place and he kept saying "make sure you check in" but really you could tell it would be to get on the bus without anyone knowing. It was unorganized. *the bus tells you on the side of it, the destination Bus: *no overhead storage so you have to check your bag in unless you can fit everything under your seat *the phone outlets DID NOT WORK in our row. Not sure if it worked in others. *WiFi didn't work *seats were NOT comfortable at all. Greyhound was more comfortable. *reserving seats book up quickly so add fast. Greyhound Dallas: Venue: *It was a much larger venue. *Plenty of bathrooms *Food: a few fast food restaurants that are over priced. It was almost 3 dollars for a bottle of water. There were a couple of vending machines. Most of the vending machines took card but the one with water only takes cash so if you are short on time and can't wait to get water from one the restaurants make sure to bring cash. *No one smiled Organization: *Signs on the walls that told you which line to stand in (kept me more informed so I won't have to track anyone down inside) *Once outside the bus numbers didn't match up with the ones I was supposed to be riding. It was confusing. There was no signs telling you which was bus was yours. Instead they helped you find the bus. Bus: *the phone outlets worked *the WiFi was spotty in areas which you would anticipate *the seats were more comfortable. I believe the buses are fairly new. *overhead space but keep in mind it's a tight squeeze. So I had to buy a ticket right away to get from New York to DC for a funeral. I bought a round trip ticket Saturday at 3:50 PM. They were about to give me a 4 PM ticket but knowing Greyhound now wants you to travel at the stated time on the ticket, I said give me the 5PM because I had no time to maneuver through Port Authority in time. I do indeed not get to the gate in time for the $PM so I was glad I made that decision. I had scheduled my return for Tuesday thinking the funeral would be Monday. However since it was scheduled for Tuesday I could not leave until Wednesday. I thought I could just change the ticket when I get there on Wednesday. Three things happened. I misplaced my ticket. When I went to see about a replacement, the Greyhound at Union Station in DC said they don't do that. So I bought a one-way ticket. When I got home was when I found my lost ticket. On Thursday I went to see about getting a refund, they wouldn't do that. They would only do it before the time scheduled on the ticket, not after. I asked them if I could use it again. They said I could write to the corporate office about a refund. read more

DO NOT TRAVEL BY GREYHOUND LINES, INC. PO BOX 660362, DALLAS, TX. 75266. Booked a bus for my mom today from Sunset Transit Center in Beaveton Oregon to Seaside Oregon. Upon paying for the ticket the confirmation ticket drop off location said Elsie Oregon. No address listed. I called 5 minutes after booking and asked for an address for the drop off location. 3 separate Representatives just told me I could not change where she was being dropped off, and they did not have a record of the address on file. The pick up location was also switched to downtown portland (website error?). I asked for a solution, and was repetitively told they could only change the date and time but could not change anything else on the ticket, and it was non-refundable. I repeatedly asked for the address on where she was being dropped off and they did not know. It is INSANE that greyhound is going to be dropping someone off and CANNOT provide an address of where!!! They will not edit, exchange or refund. I asked for them to help me set up a seperate ticket with the correct information and they REFUSED TO HELP ME!!!! Stay away from this Greyhound Lines, Inc.!! so my ex wife was denied boarding for having a beer with lunch , I was with her at lunch we both had a beer, I drop her off said goodbye and left . that was 1pm bus left at 3:50pm . she was denied boarding because they smelled alcohol. Their policy states no alcohol on board or in luggage, apparently the baggage handlers have a drinking problem. she then contacted me saying ( the fine ticket agent would change her ticket for 20 dollars CASH and that she would have to wait 24 hrs to board the bus. I called to pay the fee (bribe) however because her ticket was expired because they decided she couldn't board that I now needed a new ticket. when I called corporate and asked how 20 in cash made a miracle happen but I couldn't put it on a card , how that happens . just got the run around, Im thinking a call to the I.R.S is way to go, considering 20 in cash voids their whole ticket policy. read more

Funny how greyhound can get 16 buses to Las Vegas for a stunt but not get one bus to Dallas for customers. There must be people stranded from cost to cost because of the bus jump in Las Vegas. I feel for you guys, that's to bad. read more

This establishment doesn't even deserve 1 star! Our bus was delayed from dallas to Austin and no communication has been given as to why or how long we need to wait. This is absolutely ridiculous... at all costs avoid riding greyhound! Such a poor facility read more

Thieves. I bought a ticket for $97 and needed to change my dates. Refused to give my money back. Customer service was extremely rude and there was a long wait to talk to someone. When I emailed them they just ignored me. Will never use Greyhound! They don't care about new customers. Now I'm wasting my time and getting my money thru the bank. Unreliable as hell. I've used them to travel four times in the past two months, and every single time, the departure was delayed at least half an hour. Bus station is constantly dirty and filled with sleeping bums. The condition of the restrooms is frightening. read more

First, the good. They have wifi on the busses and the drivers were really nice and helpful. Now, the bad. Busses look like 20 years old. The inside look like a slam neighborhood. Many seats are either torn or broken. The baggage is being handled in a rude way by people which don't look like being paid enough to smile. Most stations look more like a prison cafeteria or army gathering before going on the planes. I took the bus from Dallas stations and I actually almost cancelled my trip after standing 10 minutes in one of the cow lines. Almost no one from this company is actually smiling. Came 25 minutes before my trip and didnt see any notice about my bus. When asked someone he yelled that he already announced and that i should run to thr line. Maybe only the drivers. Nobody told me I had to put a tag on my bag and when changing bus the luggage employee just put my bag in some corner instead of inside the new bus. They didn't even thought of checking with the passengers who own the bag. When waiting to move to the other bus there is no any indication on some screen in the station about the status. You need to wait near the bus as you are afraid it is going to leave without you. The coffee vending machine was broken. In the stations I have been there were only vending machines or junk food restaurant. Vegetarian option is a bad joke for them. The customer service is awfull. It's a perfect example why the communism failed. The company has no competition and you feel it in every communication with them. Changing ticket dates can be done only in the bus stations. Not by Internet or phone. It doesn't even have to be done at the bus station you take the bus from. So why not on the phone from your home? Looks like they outsourced customer service to a Spanish speaking country. The employees English is poor and you can hardly understand them on the phone. You feel you are bothering them in the middle of the siesta. I cancelled my ticket and asked the guy to purchase a new one on the phone. The price he gave me was $15 more than what I checked 10 minutes before on the site. When I asked him, he said the price change all the time. I cancelled the purchase on the phone, went to the website and the ticket price is just like it was before. I called customer service at 6 pm to check about changing ticket days and times. Every time it 's 15 minutes wait. Since I didn't want to go to the bus station to change the ticket I bought a new one and called to get a refund for the old one. I waited 15 minutes on the line, after picking the refund option, she took my name and told me she is transferring me to a customer service which was another 15 minutes wait. This company is the ugly face of US. It has the attitude and the infrastructure of 100 years ago. It is a sad example to the poor investment of US in public transportation. Most of the passengers are hard working people and they treat them accordingly. Middle class will take those busses only if someone will point a gun to their heads. This country doesn't care about anyone who who doesn't have a car or do not want to use his car. The bus is much more friendly to the environment than 100 cars but that's not a priority in US.
