Terrible terrible terrible. If I could give greyhound zero stars I would. Ride megabus or Amtrak instead if you have a choice. Greyhound buses are regularly 1-2 hours late and a you won't ever speak to a human on their helplines. Worst bus experience ever. read more

***DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH GREYHOUND. THEY ARE THIEVES*** Last weekend my trip from school to NYC started on the wrong foot by this mess of a company. Their bus was almost three hours behind schedule - a 4:30 AM departure became 7:15. On my way back, however, I was not allowed to get on a bus, because for some unspecified reason, corporate had *cancelled* my fare. The actual trip was going on anyways, I had just been singled out for some unexplained reason. Hours on the phone and at the Greyhound counter offered no solution.Clearly they knew something was wrong but nobody would own up to it or provide a solution. Their best advice: suck it up, and buy a new trip home. I had to purchase a second trip as expensive as the original round trip. On the phone today with their customer service (again), they have refused to refund me for the trip for which I had purchased and was not allowed to get on. Last time I checked this constitutes //theft//. That's without even mentioning the extortion of railroading me into the exorbitant last-minute cost I pointlessly had to pay for a ticket I should not have needed. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. read more

Greyhound made my 20 hour bus ride into a 45 hour nightmare with delays. Four buses broke down, and all my stops had to be rescheduled sometimes 10 hours later. Charlottesville is not a 24 hour bus station, and they scheduled my pick up while the bus station was closed. Take care to never buy tickets for a ride while they are closed. They will not check, and you are locked outside with no bathrooms in the rain. This station is also next to many streets Google says are two way, but are only one way. Your ride will hate this fact. read more

My ride on Greyhound was by far the worse. The bus was packed and to make matters worse two out of the three available seats contained someone else BLOOD. Before we were aware my two little children already sat down the driver comes back like these seats are off limits. I contacted a greyhound on numerous occasions to my surprise no response. Don't take the Greyhound here if you can. Bus that was supposed to depart at 840a.m. still didn't come at 9pm. Asked for a refund for my ticket and baggage, but the manager, Shirley, refused to give it and insisted on being in the right. Perhaps it's understandable I can't get a refund for the ticket since it's non-refundable, but should have the right to get refund for the baggage. Also, Greyhound is dishonest about the time needed to travel to places. My cab took 1h15m to get to Richmond, and we passed by a Greyhound bus. The cab was way faster, so there's no way Greyhound could get to Richmond in 1h15m. Don't use the Greyhound service here if you can. If anything goes wrong, Shirley, the unprofessional and incompetent manager, isn't someone you want to deal with. Two of my suggestions would be to use car-sharing apps or post ads on Craigslist to ask who wants to share cab rides. Don't give Greyhound your business; they don't deserve it. read more

I got to the depot over half an hour early for a bus to DC, but the bus that was there was not large enough to accommodate everyone. Station staff were useless and did not communicate with us as to what was going on in any meaningful capacity. Several passengers got their tickets refunded and split a Lyft to Fairfax; they made the right decision. The replacement bus came, but it did not leave until 6:10, and several seats on the bus were broken and would not move from the most reclined position, and legroom was not nearly as good as what was advertised. To make matters worse, the driver clearly did not know the route, so we basically drove in a circle for half an hour and didn't actually leave Charlottesville until 6:45 when one of the passengers intervened and took over navigation. The first stop took half an hour despite only a few people boarding, and the driver did not know where to go to let us off at Union Station. I ended up getting into DC nearly 3 hours late. All in all, the station staff are not helpful, Greyhound overbooks and doesn't care that they're severely impacting people's travel plans, and passengers have to do basic tasks that bus drivers should know how to do before being hired. My advice to you if you want to take a Greyhound: don't. Save yourself the time, money, and frustration by finding a few friends and splitting a Lyft to wherever you're trying to go. If you're concerned with amenities while traveling, you're better off taking Amtrak; even the Cardinal Line, which is notorious for being late, is never anywhere near this bad. read more

If I could give out no stars I would. Where do I even start? First the website was giving me a hard time to download the ticket and pay for it. Then I get the my 4:50PM departure bus to D.C. At 4:32PM because natural you want to say goodbye to people if you were being dropped off by a loved one. All the doors to the building were shut without clear instructions so I had to tire a couple different doors with heavy bags in my hands. Then I finally make it in line around 4:35 PM, the man taking the tickets asks me where mine is and I tried to let him know that it was on my phone because I had difficulties printing it due to the website. He cuts me off and orders me to get out of line and go to the front desk where you would buy tickets so I do. The line had about 6 people in front of me so I waited my turn. I get to the front of the line at 4:47 PM and the man tells me he can't print tickets, so the man taking the tickets sent me there knowing they couldn't help me. So I panic because, of course, I start to realize that time is running out and the bus driver may leave without me. The man behind the counter says run across the street to the hotel and print it out. I sprint over there in a panicked frenzy trying to get into the private hotel to print out a ticket with 35lbs of luggage in my hands. I print the email that they sent me and another man runs in seeming to be in the same situation. I sprint back and it's 4:50PM the man who was taking tickets screams at me what is that? That's not a ticket? And I'm now in complete anxiety mode. So I beg the men behind the counter to hold my bags so I can run faster and get it done. They won't tell me if the bus is going to leave, they won't be helpful in offering a solution, and the man who was taking tickets is now being extremely rude and practically called me a b***. One man behind the counter was decent enough to hold my bags seeing how nervous I was. So once again I'm sprinting trying to get into a secure hotel to print this ticket once more. So I login into my email and select print ticket this time and it comes up so I print and once again the other man in the same predicament is once again next to me doing the same exact thing. Needless to say there was a huge lack of professionalism, customer service and a huge lack of proper communication from the staff. Anyways I sprint across the street and the bus is pulling out and the man that held my bags is on the corner of the street with my stuff. He says "the bus is leaving and because he has to get other people" I'm pissed, I'm hot and sweaty from running, I'm irrated from the whole situation but then the bus driver stops and let's me in; I felt a little bit of relief. As I walk on I realize the bus driver is the man that was taking tickets so he starts giving me grief as soon as I walk on, he was so rude and tried to insult me. I will literally never go on a greyhound ever again. The bus driver was driving awfuly and making me nervous, another passenger walked by me and told me he was extremely rude to her and her sister who were later than the 430 loading time because they were at a funeral for her late brother-in-law and the bus driver accused them of lying!! He got on the speaker in the bus several times to complain about any and everything. It was an aweful experience. Spend the extra $10 and go by train!!! Greyhound you are very behind in technology and trying to cut corners, similarly to United Airlines, and hiring people that shouldn't be in their position as well as people that are rude and angry at their job. Greyhound get it together and to that bus driver, get a job better suited for you if you don't like people and cannot be friendly or helpful. read more

This is for the company in general This company's policies and customer service is the worst I have ever seen!!! They changed me $20 to change my ticket told me the only thing that had changed was the date and never sent me any follow up email. My hubby checked his E-ticket the night before he was supposed to leave to make sure everything was all set and found out that the date was never changed. I called customer support to be informed that when you exchange an eticket it automatically becomes a print at home ticket. The first customer support not only told me that but he never even sent me the new ticket. When I told the 5 people that I talked to including 2 supervisors they emailed me the ticket at 11:45 at night when he was supposed to be there at 11 am the next day. No would help and no one cared even though their customer service rep was the one that screwed up. Then he went to get on the bus and the bus came 10 min late dropped off a few passengers and kept right on going. My hubby and his brother tried to flag him down and the driver looked right at them and kept on going. Customer service wouldn't contact the bus and tried to say they couldn't do anything until 24 hrs later. I had a fit so they changed to ticket to 4 pm that day which was a longer drive and cost me 10 hrs of work total! read more

There was absolutely nothing wrong with this Greyhound station. The ticket lady was helpful. The driver was on time and polite. I traveled from Charlottesville to DC and this was the same bus that stopped to pick up riders outside of the Amtrak station. The bus was nice, comfortable, and clean. It doesn't deserve 5 stars, but it definitely needed an updated review for anyone who was hesitant to travel due to the previous reviews. I would absolutely travel with the Greyhound again. read more
