Do not use before reading the following : My 75$ uber ride cancelled on me last minute in the early morning I called Mario for a ride to the airport. I was desperate and he wanted $375. Told him where I was and he told me 30 minutes to pick me up. I had a tight schedule to get to the airport. He wanted me to Venmo the $375 I did Then he actually put in the address He told me it'd be an hour and a half. Which would make me late for my flight. He had me Venmo money all in advance. I told him I needed my refund since he couldn't make it. It as he was so far away. only me back through Venmo $291.03. And he a full even though there's no way he could've to the airport on time. He kept almost $85 as his inconvenience fee. Use caution perhaps you have a better result. I withdraw my complaint as it was a miscommunication and Mario taxi service has given me the refund. read more

As many of other reviews have said, Mario is simply a terrific, amazing person. Why am I writing this review then? To tell you my story about Mario that occurred last night that, I hope, really shows how Mario goes above and beyond for his fellow human being. I was at the Charlottesville Airport and had just picked up my wife from her trip. I went to start the car and the battery was dead. Without any prompting, Mario (who was waiting to pickup a taxi client) walked over to see if we needed any help. He then proceeded to track down a jumper battery gadget for me. When that didn't work, he then proceeded to jump my battery successfully with his vehicle. But the even more amazing thing is this - he did all of this in between taking clients back and forth to their destinations! He could have easily ignored our plight as so many others had. His service to us - not even his customers! - exemplifies, I hope, what a terrific person Mario is. As such, I can heartily recommend his company! read more

I live about 12 minutes from Charlottesville airport and last week I booked a Yellow Cab to take us to the airport. The website estimate was $17-$21, but the actual ("fixed") price was $28 - $35 including tip. Tonight we grabbed a cab at Charlottesville airport to take us home - 12 minutes from the airport. The driver told us that it was $55 because "that's our minimum charge". Since we didn't ask the driver what the rate would be before we got into the cab, we chalked that ridiculous rate up to 'experience' and paid him. Needless to say, Mario's won't be on our speed dial for future taxi reservations. read more

This service charges stunningly high fares - $65 minimum - for even short rides. That would be ok if they disclosed them in advance, but they don't. After waiting almost 30 minutes for a pickup, I was told that the 10 minute drive I needed was going to cost me $65. Uber or an ordinary cab would have done it for $10 - $15. I was not told this until I got in the car after waiting almost 30 minutes for a pickup. So I was faced with either paying a ridiculous rate for a 10 minute drive or starting all over with a long wait for another cab company. This is dishonest. They should be up front that they have such a high minimum so that people going short distances can avoid them. read more

Mario is my favorite person in the world right now. I'm writing this while on board my 6 AM flight that I absolutely never would have made without Mario. I literally called him at 4:30 AM the day of and he went out of his way to come pick me up. Could not recommend more highly. Rideshare apps are extremely unreliable in Charlottesville but thankfully Mario's cab service exists! I had an early morning flight and I was unable to get a ride from any of the apps. Thankfully the hotel clerk referred me to Mario & I was able to catch my flight on time. Yes, the price is a bit higher than the rideshare apps but you need to remember, this is small business, not a giant corporation (support small business!) and Mario was willing to be there for you super early in the morning so you don't miss your flight (premium service in my opinion). Very clean car, friendly service and reliable. Highly recommend! read more

They got me to the airport when my flight was leaving in 20 minutes, taking back roads and doing everything they could to get me there. I was literally stuck at my hotel with no Uber's, lyfts, or other cabs available, and Mario's answered immediately and came right away. Amazing! read more

We were charged $67 for a 10 mile ride!! Our flight was delayed 6 hours so it was 3am and we were very grateful to have a taxi there. He was friendly which was nice, but completely ripped us off! We used Mario's taxi service last summer for 12 people for $450 , they picked us up, dropped off at river to tube for day and return trip that evening back to house. This summer i booked services again for 6 people , I provided address and drop off point. The owners wife agreed to it and a price of $225 + tax gratuity. They were scheduled to pick us up at 9 am sat, then night bf at 9:45pm she msg me and call me. She said she didn't realize house was that far away. Again, i her address all in emails confirming info. She then said she couldn't do trip for that cheap because distance. She increased rate to $450 total. Of course we were unable to do that on short notice. The point of us using their service was to avoid driving after we have been drinking. She then claimed after we said no she maybe could meet us somewhere. Why would we agree to that, and pay them for their service, and still end up Drivung. I would never recommend their service. they put us in a bind the night before at 9:45 PM horrible customer service we had to then replan our trip and make other arrangements.We had an agreement that she broke. No respectable business owner would do that. read more

I had arrived late night at the CHO airport as a result of two flight push backs from ORD. I ordered a cab from the owner, Mr. Mario, without realizing that my check-in date was actually set to tomorrow afternoon. This man is a blessing in disguise as Mr. Mario kindly and generously offered me his hospitality to crash at his home office (which is very clean and homely with a functioning bathroom and shower by the way) for the time being. Upon picking me up he had also noticed the other weary souls waiting for an evening cab and extended his assistance to them after dropping me off; he even got snacks and water for me upon returning and was cordial, upbeat and friendly throughout the entire ordeal. Compensation was treated as an after-thought as well which I can only respect and appreciate the modesty. I admit I don't really experience much of Charlottesville and her non-University denizens as an insulated out-of-state student, and so I can't thank Mr. Mario enough for having treated me so profoundly with his benevolent and thoughtful hospitality and assistance. Out of all of my dealings with businesses I'd have to say that this is definitely my most meaningful one. A resolute recommendation from me. read more

Driver initially wasn't enthused with transporting me, and never disclosed rate, one we reached out destination, it was $49 for a less than 15 min ride from the airport. It was my fault as well for taking the service with an online rate of $20 for Charlottesville taxis. The Uber driver's were taking too long, but would have cost me only $16. I should have waited. Mario, the owner of this company is a jerk and a bully. I mean look at the aggressive response he posted to someone else's review! That is not how you do business, by threatening and intimidating people! If someone has a legitimate complaint (no snacks and drinks) you just apologize for the inconvenience, that is not THEIR fault that YOU were unprepared. In my own experience, Mario has responded to complaints by getting upset, yelling, intimidating and generally being unprofessional. Ordered a cab for foxfield. The driver said it was a 15 person bus but only had 10 seatbelts. They promised snacks and drinks but they were never provided (I was later reimbursed for this). I also paid for the service by the hour so that I could have access to a driver for a whole 8 hours. However, when I arrived to the bus for my pickup time there was no driver in site! I had to wait outside in the heat for another hour for someone to pick up me. They doubled booked me and still charged me an extremely high amount per hour! However, the staff was very friendly and they picked my group up on time. read more

Took Uber to Trump winery from our hotel for $29.00 plus tip. Uber was unavailable when we left so we had to call a taxi. Mario's came and pick us up. I am not sure if we were charged for the trip to get us but that is likely and understandable because of the remote area. We went from Trump winery tasting room back to our hotel and the meter registered $93.00... even if we were charged for the trip out to get us this was very expensive to the point of being a ripoff. Be careful if you get stuck using this company, use your preferred app to make sure they are not running up the meter. read more
