I decided to take a bus up to Toronto to catch a flight recently. I was concerned about getting in on time and tried to call customer service to ask about delays at the border, or getting picked up at the airport instead of downtown. I called two separate times and was unable to get any real answer to my question- though these calls get routed to the call center and not locally. I tried to call the local phone numbers for Greyhound but one was disconnected and the other just rings with no answer. Luckily, the bus I booked made it up to Toronto only 30 minutes late- most of that delay being traffic and not border crossing issues. The bus terminal itself is small and outdated. It could have been cleaner, but it really could have been worse. Seats are hard, there is no food in the immediate area so if you don't bring something with you you're out of luck. That said, if you do your homework and are prepared this is a nice option to get to Toronto or other nearby cities. And best of all, I paid $40 for a round-trip ticket. You can't beat that. read more

Police sit inside their offices behind a locked Door. With occasionally stepping outside to look around. Not worth fighting for a spot to charge ur phone. Don't bring kids here unless you want them to see homeless encampments. Signs all over say no smoking and no loitering. But it seems like that's half the guest here. I was scheduled to leave Buffalo to Toronto on October 3, 2024 at 5 pm. At 4:30 pm, they send me an email stating that the trip is delayed. The schedule was changed to 11 pm and it will arrive in Toronto at 1:45 am. Since there are no more trains or buses in Toronto that will take me to my family's house at 1:45 am, I was forced to purchase another ticket worth $67.98 just one way that will leave Buffalo at 6 pm. To my surprise and anger, the 5:00 pm trip went through. And they immediately deleted their announcement in my email that the trip is delayed and will leave at 11 pm to arrive in Toronto at 1:45 am. I asked for a refund for the second ticket that I bought and they are so unfair not to give me. I am so angry. read more

If you travel with a Grape Hound, you'll probably stop at every winery in the region. However if you go by Greyhound, you'll just stop at every little village, will struggle to sleep, will deal with bad smells, and will probably have to share your seat with a 400lb person. And that's okay! My trick when I used to ride Greyhounds was... nah. You don't want to know. I'll tell you later. In another review. Some other time. The Buffalo Greyhound Station is one of the most special places in the world to me. The bathrooms are awful, the wait lines can be horrendous (but are usually better than in most places), some of the staff are rude (but not all of them), and travelling by Greyhound in general is a nightmare (but not always). Nevertheless, there is nowhere more special to me than this place. It's wonderful. Very very very special memories and it can only possibly receive a 5 from me for that reason. I'm updating it because the bathrooms really are that bad and the Tim Hortons in here is pretty awful. And I'm still giving it a 5. If nothing else, it's my sentimental favourite, and it's got very little security to get in and out, so the homeless can usually take refuge from the cold here, which is a good thing. read more

My trip with grayhound started with delays to Canada with people fighting at the port authority terminal and the bus driver arriving late. Now we are stuck in buffalo waiting for a driver to drive the bus back to nyc. This is after the bus to return to NYC was delayed by 2 hours had me waiting at Niagara falls bus terminal. This is a review for the megabus that leaves from this station. I used to have good memories of megabus but the past few times I've used megabus from this station, it has been late for an average of 1.5-2 hours. Furthermore, megabus does not offer any refund or discount, or any kind of compensation for failing to uphold their end of the transaction. I will be using a different bus service next time but am quite sad about it because I really wanted to like megabus. read more

So im told an hour later im on the wrong bus when the new driver goes to take tickets. So i go back to the supervisor and he tells me i missed the bus. NO SHIT! He gave me the wrong information and then didnt even apologize or offer any solutions. What a prick. Had to wait 3 hours in limbo because of course their computers werent working. Give me a break. Had a nightmare of an experience with Greyhound when we were scheduled to leave on a 2:40am bus for NYC on the night of December 25th. We didn't leave Buffalo until 10am and ended up missing two buses, staying at the grimy Buffalo station for over eight hours. Ugh. Here's how it went: At 2:30am, we were told by the person who was boarding the buses that we could either get on the 2:40am bus and sit separately OR we could wait 20 minutes for the next bus and sit together. We opted to wait for 20 minutes, but apparently this guy was misinformed and the next bus wouldn't be coming until 6:30am. We were frustrated, especially since we now had to change our travel plans and book an overnight hotel (we had to visit the Russian consulate which would likely be closed by the time we arrived on the later bus) and coming up to talk to the only Greyhound employee was a worthless feat. Whoever worked that night shift was a class-a *sshole who definitely did not want to be doing his job that night (and I get it...the night shift is tough), but some human decency would have went a long way (which we later got from an employee that came in). Here's when the whole experience turns from a frustrating inconvenience to a nightmare: we ended up missing the 6:30am bus. We were pretty tired and we saw a bus pull up and board that was slated to be going to "Boston, MA." Just in case, I asked my fiance to go up to the counter and ask if that was the bus we needed to board to NYC. Apparently, the employee misunderstood her and thought she was asking when the bus from NYC was coming and he told her it was running late, so we didn't think the Boston bus was what we needed to take to get to NYC and ended up missing it too. Next bus comes at 9:30am. We would now have to be at the Greyhound station for a total of eight hours just waiting for a bus. I'm livid at this point because she specifically went up to ask about the bus, but this employee who was mostly listening to headphones/music and trying 210% to be the least helpful person in the entire building led us astray. He also made like no announcement that the bus was going to NYC as well! Maybe he said on the loudspeaker once "Boarding a bus to Boston with transfers to Scranton, Binghamton...and so he claims "New York City," but I didn't hear the NYC part. I swear he didn't say it. He even KNEW we were waiting for that bus as we talked to him about our problem before, but when I pointed this out...he said that we were not in the station (we were sitting right by the gate for hours!). Talking to him turned out to be fruitless as he just gets argumentative with me, so I ask to file a complaint and speak with the manager, he digs out some form and gives it to me and says a manager won't get in till 9am. I should mention that earlier on I come up to him to ask for suggestions on where to park and he had no idea. Does anyone have any idea? Where the hell do you even park if you come here and need to leave your car overnight? All the parking garages around are closed overnight (and why is that?!). At 9am, I end up talking to someone who was the saving grace of the whole experience. He refunded our tickets fully so we ended up getting a free ride to NYC (saving us almost $300). This guy was the angel of customer service in an otherwise hellish night. He also made sure we were the first on the bus out at 9:30am, which was a nice touch. After Greyhound caused me to miss my connecting bus in Buffalo the employees at the Buffalo terminal were nothing but rude and useless. The woman behind the service desk was more interested in taking another coffee break than selling tickets. The person pretending to be the supervisor, some guy named Joe, was confrontational and about as helpful as a blind man teaching a photography class. He refused to do anything to help the situation and was too lazy to call anyone who could actually make a decision or authorize transportation to avoid me having to sit in their terminal for several hours. On top of that the vending machines were all out of order and the bathrooms were disgusting. No one apologized, no one did anything to make up for the inconvenience of me being several hours late for my destination, and no one would answer my question as to whether they deliberately overbook their buses. After several calls to their "We Care" line and emails to their on-line survey I have received NOT A SINGLE response from ANY Greyhound employee. No one with this company cares about the customers- they actually make the airlines look good! Greyhound will never get my business again. read more

I'm currently sitting on a greyhound bus to Toronto (from NYC). We've had to switch drivers twice and we have now been sitting in buffalo for over an hour. The staff at the station (greyhound staff) was extremely rude and did not even want to make an announcement to tell us when the driver would come. I'd say do not take greyhound unless you have no other choice. Sure it's cheap and there's no wifi... Sure the security screening is better than airports... But they just don't care. I've taken more than a dozen+ cross boarder grey hounds in my life. They have been fairly unpleasant but this one was the worst. The bus just didn't come. They didn't inform us the bus wasn't coming. They didn't make any arrangements to pick us up. They didn't contact anyone after we started to complain. They merely said hope for spots on the next bus, you could be waiting here a while. (12-24hrs) and it was a crappy bus terminal. At least it had a tim horton's. I wasn't in a major rush, but the other passengers were freaking out and calling cabs to pick then up from buffalo to Toronto. We talked to a number of employees and they kept saying there was nothing to do. Eventually one bus driver went to go look for someone and that really irritated me because there was someone there. They were just hiding and not dealing with questions or informing us about anything. This is not how to run business. Apparently there was no refund and no compensation either. First time taking a greyhound. It was the worst experience ever. Traveling from San Diego to buffalo then taking a bus to NYC me and my sisters were very excited since we were exploring together. The bus driver was a pain in the ass that stopped every hour to yell at us for making so much noise. The people in the front couldn't use their phone because it was a distraction to him. At one point he told us he was getting paid by the hour so that was the reason he kept making the trip longer and making those stops to yell at the passengers like we were five years old. Before we got off the bus we asked for his name but he refused to tell us. How can I report him? At one point he made some passengers move spots because he didn't want them in the front since they were making noises on accident and he threatened to leave them at the next station and even threatened to call the cops. Our NYC experience started of real bad because of this stupid idiot driver. I was so mad. Please someone let me know how I can report him. read more

I don't know why there are so many negative reviews. It's a bus station, people, not the Fritz. Overall, I had a very good experience here. I enjoyed: - There were public security guards nearby - There was a vending machine (pricey, but hey, it's a greyhound station), - It's within walking distance of taxi cabs (right out the front door) and public transport - The bus to Niagara Falls takes you from the Greyhound Station straight for the falls (ask the bus driver for the stop) - There's a Tim Horton's in the Greyhound Station And much, much more. Greyhound has so many routes, buses, and components it's hard to review them all. I really only take the greyhound when I travel to Toronto from Buffalo. The tickets are quite cheap, it's nice to sleep on the way there and back, and you land right in the middle of the city. Depending on when you leave, the trip itself take take a short or long time, but usually that's traffic or the kind of passengers on your bus and how they deal with customs. I will say that the wifi on this trip never works on either side of the border and sometimes the bus drivers seem exasperated. They need more breaks and there needs to be some help screening people at the station so that customs and stuff isn't as stressful. read more

I am giving two stars because the Tim Hortons here made my connection better, as I hugely love their coffee. Other than that, it was awful! First, the staff were so rude than they never cared about me as I lost my cap in one of the buses. The lady who was behind the counter opted to take a break instead of helping me out with lost and found! This is more than unacceptable in a customer service view. Also, the guy next to her who was also an employee, kept talking with the group of travelers who had their ticket reissued. I mean, c'mon. I got so over it, that I decided to not pursue help to them. Greyhound may get you point to point, but in terms of customer service, it sucks! Not worth paying over $50 per journey. Second, the restroom are awful, there needs to be a remodel so bad! And third, why are they putting on the fan at 3 am? It will freeze you badly, that you may leave sick. Because of these three things, I've got to rate this place one star. read more

Unfortunately it was a horrible experience. I have not rode a Greyhound bus in over 30 years, even though the bus was comfortable and clean. This review is about the unsanitary conditions at the terminal. Upon arriving at the terminal I noticed most of the seats were filthy, and soiled . You could obviously tell they never get cleaned. Also there were several homeless people milling around and sleeping and sitting in the seats with clothes that were so soiled it would make you sick. The floors were very dirty even though they had a person putting up a wet mop sign without a mop and did not do any cleaning for the 3 hours I was stuck there. The windows were so dirty that you could not see out of half the windows. Between the fingerprints, handprints and the spilled unknown liquids and dirt it's no wonder the ridership is down. I don't know who is responsible for the cleaning but it's sad when you can't feel comfortable while waiting at a terminal. I went over to the only restaurant in the terminal TH, and was told they were not serving any food due to someone being on break. Greyhound at this location is just absolutely the worst. Normal greyhound, 3/5. Buffalo greyhound 1/5. Only take it here if you are completely desperate. The transition from Buffalo to Toronto Canada is just horrible and they are so irresponsible. Late schedules, full buses, leaving behind people, no last calls. The guy in charge of the night time schedules is just a shitty un-helpful person in general. He just sits on his ass and blames us for missing a full bus [that we weren't aware of] when they didn't do last call because of over capacity. Just says it was our fault that we missed it. Greyhound as a company in general is absolutely dreadful. Rarely do their buses arrive or depart on time. Their drivers can sometimes be rude. In this particular location, however, at 2:53 AM as of today, a group of about 60 riders have been waiting inside of a bus at this station. We are not allowed to get out of the bus and we've been waiting for over an hour now. The previous driver said that the bus should depart around 1:30 and that's obviously not the case. One star is extremely generous for this station and the employees that work at the Greyhound desk. I understand that these individuals probably take a lot of BS from customers, but apparently that gives them the right to automatically have their guard up and to have an attitude with everyone who approaches them. I want to start by saying that I've traveled with Greyhound before and never had a huge issue. My bus to Buffalo from NYC was over an hour late getting in - we left 30 mins late from Port Authority and stopped for over an hour in Syracuse for what was supposed to be a 15 minute stop. That, admittedly, has nothing to do with the Buffalo station and their employees but I'm using it to preface the following review. Long story short, I had a slight emergency back home in New York and needed to change my bus schedule around to get back quicker. I called customer service to change my return ticket, and was told I needed to go all the way downtown to do it in person 24 hours prior to my original departure day and that the usual $20 change fee could be waived once I got there. Annoying that I had to go all the way there on a day I wouldn't even be traveling? Very - but that's a different story. I spoke to three different people and there was clearly no way around it, so I got a ride from a family member to go down and change it. When I got there, an extremely snippy woman immediately shot down the waiving of the fee - her manager "wasn't there to put in the code." I don't see how that's my fault, and when I offered to call the customer service line to verify the information I had been given the day before, she told me those people had "lied to me." She proceeded to bring someone else out to tell me the exact same thing, and then told me the $20 was because the fare had gone up that much (later on I checked on this and found that it had stayed the exact same price as when I booked it). The other person even had the nerve to say: "people die everyday, work stuff happens everyday, their pets get sick, people have emergencies everyday...they're all fake excuses when they want to switch their bus." That set me over the edge. I hadn't even given an excuse, but she found it appropriate to mock other people's hardships in an attempt to get rid of me. Gave up trying to speak to the woman rationally as she was one of the rudest individuals I'd ever had the displeasure of speaking to, and decided to pay the $20. Cash only I found out at this point - luckily a family member with cash was there to lend me the money. How do people book large trips at this station if you don't accept cards? I usually like to think the best of places and people, but part of me thinks she just told me there wasn't a machine because HOW do they not have one??? I'll never travel from this station again and I will also definitely go out of my way to deter other people I know from doing so too. It is not even worth the $80 you save by choosing this over a flight. I'll also be sending this exact note to Greyhound management, but by the off chance they see this: your policies and the things you tell customers over the phone should match what the employees at the individual stations are following. You should also work on hiring more considerate and cordial individuals who do not insult customers if you want to keep business. Also (surprise, surprise) I'm now at the station waiting for the bus to leave, it's past departure time, and they just started boarding people. The bus has been sitting outside the gate for an hour though, so I'm assuming this is the fault of another employee. NEVER again. read more

This review is for my ride coming from Dallas Texas to upstate NY. Leaving Dallas was fine going to Memphis TN. Then leaving Memphis going to Nashville is where the problems started. I was given a boarding pass to a bus that I apparently wasn't supposed to be on. The driver who scanned my E-ticket said I shouldn't have been on that bus. So I was going to get my luggage off the bus and find out which one I was supposed to be on. Next thing you know the guy loading the luggage said, "no you're on the right bus". "I said yeah but the driver said it wasn't". He said, "just go ahead and get on. I'll take care of it". So I said ok and got on the bus. When I realized that it was a bus going to Chicago instead of Kentucky to Ohio, I was going to get off the bus. The passengers let the driver know. Next thing you know the driver starts screaming at me saying "I told you, that you weren't supposed to be on this bus!" I said "I understand ma'am but the baggage guy..." She cut me off before I could finish. She said, "ain't no driver gonna tell you to get on the wrong bus! You're lying and trying to go somewhere you're not supposed to be!" I said "no ma'am that's not true" she still kept screaming at me louder and then she kicked me off the bus. Before I could tell her that I needed to get my suitcase off the bus, she slammed the door in my face and drove off. After that I was delayed 3 hours in Memphis. After that I thought the trip was going smoothly except the customers being rude to us reboarding the bus. Practically pushing us out of the way and practically knocking us over. I'm finally in Buffalo after I should have been in Rochester @12:20 am this morning. It's now 3:11am and they said that the bus won't be here for another 3 hours! This company should seriously refund my ticket home and give me a free round trip for all this b.s.! I've never had this many problems with Greyhound! The other part that pisses me off is that I have a heart issue and I technically am ADA because I can't walk very far without my oxygen dropping low and my hands turning purple. I was asked several times to give up my seat in the front of the bus. I've felt I was going to pass out so many times on this trip between all the panic attacks because of stress and from walking more than I could handle. I called customer service to see if I could get help carrying my luggage. She told me she would update that on my account but never did. After all this traveling, my legs are so swollen and sore. I have enough health issues and I didn't need Greyhound adding to them because of not giving us enough breaks in between to walk around. Sitting that long is bad for anybody. Pathetic costumer service and time schedule. The driver and the service people's attitude are extremely mean. Especially when they see you are just an Asian girl with non-perfect English, they will just ignore and make fun on you. My extremely terrible experience happened at Buffalo greyhound station. I was supposed to arrive Mississauga at 19:00 on 5th October. The bus should have depart Buffalo at 16:00. But the bus was full so they asked people to change the ticket to 18:40. So we waited for more than 2 and half hours. And they said the next bus would only go to Toronto. So they asked us to wait at Toronto for another hour to wait for the bus to Mississauga. The travel and the service of greyhound is the worst things and people I ever encountered in the world. I will arrive Mississauga at 23:00 and at then there will not be any public transportation there. They don't care about your feelings and time at all. So when you are going to travel, never think about Greyhound as one of your option. It made me see how worst can the service be ever. read more

I was traveling from Toronto back to NYC. Out bus got stuck in a bit of traffic, then there was a issue at customs. When we finally arrived in Buffalo out drivers change. Our new driver was so nasty. We took a dreak and she complained about us coming back too early. A passenger wanted to know what was going to be the new arrival time because she was getting picked up. Oh, get over it. It's a bus terminal, not a refugee camp. There was a T-Ho's for the desperate, the women's bathrooms were on the what-the-hell side of acceptably clean, and it's open 24 hours a day. (These last two didn't apply at the other end of my trip.) Bus was more or less punctual, and two out of the three drivers were very good. (The third was only a little scary.) Listening to a few local boobs talk politics was the biggest annoyance for me, but noise-canceling earbuds and an iPod took care of it nicely. A $3 pair of ear plugs probably work just as well. Bottom line? Stop whining and just be grateful you're leaving Buffalo. read more

On par with my Greyhound experiences in many East Coast cities. I was concerned about traveling through this station solo after dark, but really didn't have any reason to worry. Getting here was easy, too, as it's quite close to downtown Buffalo. The staff at the desk was helpful and there was a separate roped-off waiting area for those of us headed to Cleveland as it seems to be a popular route. The station was well lit and busy, and the Greyhound staff was nice. I booked the online web-advance rate and found this to be a very cost effective way to travel. read more

Brought my daughter a ticket leaving Buffalo going to Philadelphia the bus was suppose to leave at 10:35pm she was there 30 minutes early but that wasn't good enough for her not to be able to get on the bus because there was people who were suppose to be on the 6:30 and 9:30p bus in line and there was no room on the bus we paid for. Are you kidding me? They should know how many tickets and how many seats they have. How do you have three buses not have enough room for your paid customers? There was no one giving direction or instructions at the terminal. They were told incorrect information. Told to go to one place then another. Just chaotic. An absolute nightmare! I've never been to this station but I received tremendous customer service from its employees! I accidentally left my passport on a bus that's next stop was this station. The employees searched the bus when it arrived in Buffalo located my passport and had it back to me the same day!!!!! They put it in an envelope with cardboard so it wouldn't be damaged and sent it via another bus that was going to the city I was in!!! I was so happy I screamed!!! Thank you GreyHound!!
