It's not often that a rest stop feels this thoughtful and well-maintained. The entire space felt welcoming and peaceful. It's perfect for a quick break or even a longer pause to stretch and reset. One of my favorite parts was the big I NY sign outside. It makes for such a fun photo! And inside, the photo opportunity kiosk was such a creative touch. You can snap a picture and send it to yourself right from there. If you're passing through, definitely take a few extra minutes to stop here. It's clear a lot of care went into making this a place people can actually enjoy.

But if you…read morewanna get into Buffalo from Clarence/Wiliamsvile/Depew/North Cheektowaga/East Amherst, then you might want to use the Ken-sing-ton-aight? I absolutely love this road. Now that the 198 has horrifically been reduced to 30 miles an hour this is the last way to get through the heart of North and East Buffalo without being stuck in gridlock. It usually moves quite well (like your ma) and is built below the surface of the city so that it doesn't contribute too much in terms of an eyesore or noise. Definitely the most vital road in the City of Buffalo. And considering I use it as much as I do and rarely end up stuck in traffic here it would be a bit hypocritical of me to give it a low rating. As an added bonus, the cops don't usually pull you over on this road. So a lot of people go well above the speed limit of 50 and do closer to 70. AKA "the 33" which is what locals usually call it, this 2-lane-racecourse begins right in front of Buffalo Niagara International Scareport, and winds its way like a twerking Asp (there was a P on the end, ok?) through Cheek to walk out, into some famous and run-down neighbourhoods of East and North Buffalo, and eventually spits you out in the very heart of downtown. It becomes three lanes after it crosses the famous I-90 (which by the way goes from Seattle all the way to Boston, now how cool is that). The best part of this road is that it will whisk you to parts of Buffalo you may never otherwise visit, and drop you off right in any neighborhood you like. Without the 33, Buffalo would be very hard to circumnavigate. Once you enter the Buffalo section of this road, the speed limit is rarely adhered to. But in the Cheektowaga section, do not speed. The cops are regularly in those parts. Have fun on the 33. But don't do 33 on the 33. You'll get beeped at. Not by me. Unless it's snowing. Then 33 (or less) is probably a good idea.

John who contacted me back was extremely professional. He went over Covid protocols for going into Canada and back to the US. Even gave us good times for pickup to make it back to the airport on time. We did find out the two days before the trip that passports were not up to date. Contacted John and he made all the changes for us. Now for the night of the flight into Buffalo. The plane got delayed into Buffalo by about 60 min, so we are now a little after 11 PM to land. We get to the baggage claim area and meet John (not sure if it was the same John as on email). He was amazing and friendly. We waited for our bags, and it appears that one of our bags did not make it with us. John patiently waited with us while we went and filed paperwork with the airline. John still made the night special for us even with all the problems. John got us into the limo and the ride was amazing, he even offered to stop and get us something to eat because everything was closed nearby. The pick-up from the hotel was perfect too. John picked us up in the SUV for the return trip. The car was still amazing and the drive was smooth. Had a great talk with John and he was able to talk about all the history of the area. Not being from there it was extremely interesting. This was an anniversary trip for my wife and me, and we felt like VIPs the whole time. I could not have asked for a better experience. Both times we had Captain Dave, a tall gentleman with salt and pepper hair. He spoke rudely to a handful of customers and both of his bartenders. The first time we assumed he was having an off day, but seeing this attitude a second time on a different boat was shocking and disappointing. Perhaps the customers and bartenders were rude to him first, but regardless, it was inappropriate for others to witness. He also mentions at the start of the ride that there is no vaping onboard, which we found to be more than reasonable. However, my wife and I saw HIM vaping while driving the boat?! Additionally, we felt as if the drinks were overtly overpriced -- 2 oz well liquor for $12 is insane! No bar I have been to in the Buffalo area charges that much for a well cocktail. However, we did feel as if the price of the tour itself was reasonable. The music was also not to our liking, but we understand it is challenging to accommodate everyone. But, it would have been nice to suggest a song or two. Unfortunately, a few of our friends have has similar experiences.... We wished we had a better experience, but as it stands now, we will not return nor recommend this place to others.

It's a 2 hour walking tour, and you'll stop at various buildings to learn about the who, what, when's of what went down there. For example, you will stop at a building and hear about how organized crime controlled laborers local 210. You will see where certain made men were gunned down. Explore Buffalo is a nonprofit run by volunteers; be kind and leave a tip if you enjoyed your tour! I look forward to going on another tour with Explore Buffalo and learning more about our great city!

Experienced the walking tour of Allentown Historical homes. Judy was our Docent. We learned so much…read moreabout Buffalo's rural to urban history. The different architectural trends, building materials, and political affiliations. I was especially impressed by the Five Sisters, French and Italian influences and Victorian style homes. We also walked through a park I'd never realized was a park. We even stopped at a Bed and Breakfast I had no idea about. Born and raised Buffalonian and I learned so much in this tour. So glad we did it. Highly recommend!

For eight bucks you can ride all day between the marina and Riverfest Park. While the ferry makes multiple stops for patrons to exit, you can also just ride the ferry for a relaxing waterfront tour. The staff doesn't narrate the journey like the Miss Buffalo but they were very knowledgeable about the area. The boat probably holds about 15 max and we were easily able to board with no wait on a Wednesday afternoon in August. The only thing thst would make this better is if they extended their hours past 8 pm. A great addition to Buffalo's waterfront!

This is a fantastic little regional airport in Akron, NY -- used mainly for general aviation and…read moreflight instruction. For flight instruction, there are a number of planes for rent here: including an old 47 tailwheel Aeronca Champ (which is a bargain to rent at something like $78/hour) and a Warrior for instrument/PPL training. This is one of the only places to rent a tailwheel airplane in the WNY area, so if you're looking to grab a tailwheel endorsement -- Akron Airport should be one of your first stops. They also have hangars for rent here starting at around $200/mo -- I have no experience renting one, but call them for availability/information. What I love about Akron Airport is the community mindset. You can go into the main office and catch a lot of pilots eager to talk aviation. The mechanic onsite (Kevin Rose) is very friendly and open to helping others learn. There is also quite a few warbirds at Akron Airport -- from a Stearman to other beautiful airplanes. If you're interested in these airworthy relics of the past (and want to fly them!), look into becoming a member of the Buffalo Heritage Squadron -- for a $250 annual membership, you can help preserve old airplanes of the past. If you live nearby, Akron Airport is a great stop for flying lessons and if you're a pilot and want to fly in and check them out -- be sure to do so!
