I have never been through the abatement process, but I can say that our experience with this company was a pretty bad one. When they came out to measure the area to be removed for our insurance company, I was told they move everything out and back in into a storage pod and protect everything else in the house. I was never given any kind of paperwork that's said what to expect and what, if anything, I needed to do to prepare on my end. Once we had the actual date set for abatement, I still was not given clear instructions about what to expect. I didn't want to bother them over the weekend, but they were scheduled to start Monday. I didn't hear a word so finally on Sunday I asked what time they would start and should I pack up items into boxes since things would be moved. He said yes and also said he didn't think we needed a pod and they would put everything in the living room. I said sure, that's fine. The first day they were there I got a call from someone at the office letting me know that my garage door was stuck and they didn't know why so they were leaving it half open. My husband managed to get it closed and I honestly cannot say if this was their fault or not, but we did just have the garage serviced and a part replaced two months ago. As of now we cannot open it and are waiting for a repairman to come out and fix it. With that said, when it was done and after I had to find out if it was done and safe to go back to we see that they did not move anything back. They move all our furniture to my living room as they had said, but also my dining room and also in the entrance making it extremely difficult to open the door and go inside. Remember, my garage door is now broken so entering our home that way was not an option. When I called Jose to ask when the furniture would be moved back, he said it would not be. He said that they did not charge the insurance company to move the furniture but they went ahead and moved it to do the work free of charge. He said that normally they will charge a fee move the furniture to a pod and then move it back. I then clarified with him that it would have been moved back had we gotten a pod and it was charged to the insurance company and he said "in most cases, yes". How would a homeowner know the specifics if they are not told to them to begin with? I was told they didn't think I needed a pod so I trusted their judgment, but had I known that it meant I would have to put all of my stuff back then of course I would have said get the pod and charge my insurance. Or I would have moved the furniture the way I wanted it myself if I had known they did not intend on putting it back. If they went ahead and moved the furniture free of charge they should have said we went ahead and moved it, but please know we won't be moving it back. I understand that in some cases moving the furniture back is no big deal because contractors usually come in to renovate the area that had abatement, but in our case our contractors can't come for a full month. Having things put back like my children's beds is important. I even asked Jose if there would be any problem with the fact that are inside contractors and roofers would not be coming to do any repairs for a month once abatement was complete. He said everything should be fine. This is a company that specializes in abatement. Most homeowners do not know much, if anything at all, about the abatement process. Nothing was ever explained to me and the information I did know was only because I had asked about it. I am extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism with this company. They did not offer to make it right either. I would not recommend this company.

Daniel came over the next morning and gave me peace of mind and tips on how to fix what he noticed and the concerns I brought up to him. Everything has been better since! Thank you!!!

I'd like to think my dad taught me to be a pretty handy and independent woman, but let's be real, some stuff I will never understand. So, when my water heater decided to Spring a leak & unravel into a larger issue needing restoration services, I started off with a company referred by my home warranty plumber, and when I looked them up on YELP, I was like "No thank you". I found the amazing reviews for IRS and Daniel (My superhero w/o a cape) and his team came to the rescue. He became my new best friend during this process. His extensive knowledge, support, constant communication (always a phone call or text away), for which I will never be able to say enough about Daniel or the team for their help & guidance. That unravel part, mainly on the shoulders of plumber, home warranty, home insurance, a whole dang sh*t show...but with Daniels help and guidance, I managed to get through it without going crazy and breaking down. I am and will be forever thankful for IRS, Daniel & their team! If I could leave 10 Stars, I would!

I initially called another company and received a quote, but a friend of mine recommended AFR, so I decided to give them a call as well. I'll be honest -- I'm pretty skeptical these days because customer service in general has become pretty lackluster. That said, I can confidently say the customer service from AFR was excellent from start to finish. One thing I appreciated immediately was their willingness to work with me after finding out my USAA homeowners insurance would not be covering the damages. Since I was paying out of pocket, that mattered a lot to me, and they treated me fairly throughout the process. That was the first sign to me that this was probably going to be a good company to work with. Once the quotes came in, what really made AFR stand out compared to the competitor was the thoroughness and detail in their estimate and scope of work. I'm admittedly pretty OCD and detail-oriented, so I appreciated how clearly everything was broken down and explained. After speaking with Karen, we moved forward and scheduled the work. Anthony, who I would consider the lead on the project, was excellent throughout the entire process. His communication skills and responsiveness to texts and questions were outstanding. He showed up every day without fail and always maintained a professional attitude. When the crew arrived, Xavier and Sergei handled the demolition and mitigation work. The first thing I noticed was how well they prepped and protected the area before starting. Honestly, it was above and beyond what I expected. Any concerns or considerations I had were immediately addressed without complaint, although the reality is I barely had to say anything because their preparation and professionalism spoke for themselves. Since I had concerns about mold and mitigation, I paid very close attention to the process, and I was genuinely impressed with the level of care and diligence they showed. They documented everything thoroughly with photos and videos, kept the area extremely clean, and were meticulous with the work being performed. Anthony also consistently checked in throughout the project to make sure everything was progressing properly. Toward the end of the process, Jose handled the reconstruction work, including drywall, fiberglass, mudding, and texturing. He also did an excellent job, and the finished product came out great. Overall, I'm extremely impressed with AFR from top to bottom. Good customer service is hard to find nowadays, and this company exceeded my expectations. Hopefully I never need to call them again because that would mean I have another leak -- but if I ever do, I would not hesitate for a second to use AFR again. Thank you AFR, Anthony, Xavier, Sergei and Jose for a job well done.

Imagine how horrified I was thinking about the expense of this damage especially around the holidays. I called my home insurance right away. Thank goodness for home insurance. I was extremely worried about the water damage through the walls and most especially mold build up over time. Then the thought of reselling my home and having this damage left unfixed would be a big loss. It was a headache! Thankfully, this group came to my rescue. They came as soon as I called. I spoke to Rich and he answered all my questions even silly ones because geez I just know so much about water damage, mold, dry wall, and home insurance. That same day they tore some portion of the walls and brought equipments in to dry the walls from inside and out. The process took about 3 days. They came everyday to check on the progress and to make changes depending on the how dry the walls are. They use some fancy gadgets, yeah I asked about that too some kind of thermo thing is pretty cool it checks the walls on how cold or moist the area is. They really take their time making sure they cover everything. The process only took about 3 days just in time for Christmas Eve. The equipments were a bit loud, like I was in a wind tunnel. But that was expected since there were about 10 or so fans around the house blowing air. Nevertheless, I was very happy with the results. I also didn't have to worry about the payment process since they worked with my insurance. Rich also gave me a report of the water damage and document I may need for when I try to resell the home. I liked that I can easily reach out to the company and answer all my questions. They were very knowledgeable about their work and I was reassured that having them work on my home was a great choice. I would highly recommend this company. I would hire them again but my God knows I don't want to go through mess all over again!!!
