Now I'm few and far between on leaving reviews. It's only when it's that's good. And GREEN SHACK in the food lab IS THAT F****ING GOOD. I ordered the Mt.rubidoux and it did not disappoint! Perfectly balanced between the sauces, meat and cheese. Bread was toasted to perfection. I would have taken a picture but I inhaled it. COME CHECK IT OUT!!!!! read more

I'm so happy to have discovered Green Shack inside the Food Lab in downtown Riverside! I stopped by today to place a catering order and had the pleasure of meeting the owners. They were both so nice and welcoming! While I was there, I ordered lunch for myself and tried the lobster roll. OMG, it was delicious! I'm thrilled to know that I no longer have to commute to Orange County when I'm craving a good lobster roll! It's wonderful to have a sandwich shop in downtown Riverside serving such delicious food. If you live or work downtown, stop by Green Shack and give them a try! I love supporting local businesses, and I really hope the community shows them some love. Let's help this business thrive! read more

Came her on a Sunday. Hardly anyone here....still waited more than 45 minutes. Will not come back. You can't just have great food. It has to be backed by adequate service. After 50 minutes our order was wrong. No pickle spear, no heat on fries and the Ruben bread was severally over grilled. Will not come back. The first time I came the husband of the owner was there and so maybe quality was a priority in his presence. read more

Been wanting to try this place for awhile. I was across the street on Thursday night for work so I decided to hit it up for dinner. Was only one person in line when i got there so I thought great. I ordered the Castro's Church sandwich and made it combo with the jalapeno popper potato salad. I was happy to see they have stubborn soda. Their pineapple cream soda is one of my favorites so I got that as my drink. There was nobody sitting at the counter so I took a seat there and the worker got me my soda and potato salad pretty quickly. The potato salad was really good! I'd definitely order that again. So now the bad... I ordered at 9pm. It took 30 mins to get my sandwich. I am ok with waiting for good fresh food but that was excessive for a sandwich. Another guy was waiting 30 mins for just mac n cheese. He was getting pretty impatient. I was done with my salad and most of my drink by the time the sandwich was ready. I don't think they offer drink refills, but not sure because I never got to ask. The sandwich itself was decent, but I probably wouldn't get that one again. I ate half and then took it home since I'd been sitting there waiting so long. I will likely give them another shot and order one of the other sandwiches. Hopefully the wait time will be better next time. read more

This was my first time at the Food Lab in Riverside and went there for GreenShack. I got a signature sandwich with extra back and it was so good. The bread was soft and tasted so fresh. The bread to filling ratio was perfect. I also LOVED the parm truffle fries. I never eat all the fries. This time I ate everything! The staff are so nice and friendly. I also got a toffee cookie that was a little small but so good!! I will definitely be returning. Inside the food lab it was a little busy but there was plenty of seating. It was very clean and laid back setting. read more

The Shack Philly is SO good! you can really taste the provolone , giving the sandwich that rich, cheesy flavor. It's a satisfying hot sandwich with great flavor, and you can tell the cheese really makes it special. The footlong was around $18, with fries costing another $5, so it's definitely a little pricey, but the sandwich itself is delicious and worth trying. The service is always tip tier here. read more

The Food Lab is always a great spot to showcase different places and this shop has been on my radar for a minute; it was okay! The staff was super friendly and I was greeted before I even hopped into the line and they offered me a sample (the turkey avocado one) and I was sold. Menu was a bit confusing for me and you can probably customize the sandwiches, but I saw more about customizing salads. Dutch crunch is an underrepresented bread, so the pistachio affair instantly popped out. It was good but it wasn't anything special. I was bummed out. It wasn't bad!! I was just expecting to be blown away but it was a few slices of meat, handful of spinach, cheese, and excess sauce; maybe the bread to inside ratio was off for me? The mango drink was delicious and absolutely refreshing since it was a bajillion degrees outside read more

The Shack Philly does its job in terms of taste, it comes fresh and hot so that's already a plus. This is more of a place I'd choose if nothing else in the Plaza it's located in appealed to me. The service was standard-issue so no complaints there. read more

0 Stars --What's the Point of Closing at 10 PM? Absolutely ridiculous. I showed up at 9:36 PM, a full 24 minutes before closing, to order a chopped cheese, only to be told they had already turned off the grill and weren't making hot food anymore. If you close at 10 PM, customers should reasonably expect to be able to order food before 10 PM. If the kitchen stops taking orders earlier, then communicate that clearly instead of turning customers away during your advertised business hours. What makes this even more ironic is that a chopped cheese is a classic New York deli staple, the kind of food associated with late-night convenience. I understand not every place operates 24/7, but refusing to make food nearly half an hour before closing is ridiculous. I respect that employees want to clean up and go home, but customers shouldn't have to guess when the kitchen has decided to close for the night. Either honor your posted hours or clearly advertise when food service actually ends. I left disappointed and will not be returning back. If you're looking for food late at night, don't assume this place will actually serve you even while its doors are still open. read more

Dutch crunch bread with my chopped cheese was delicious! Didn't even get to eat it right away, but it already tasted pretty good. The bread probably was crunchy earlier. The meat was yummy and seasoning was great, it tasted just right! The thousand island dressing was perfection. Only "complaint" I have, is that I asked for my sandwich to be cut in half I thought, but it wasn't. I assumed it was going to be. I gotta try their other sandwiches and salads here at the Food Lab! While I miss Montys which used to be here, this is an amazing replacement. Welcome to the RFL! read more

Ordered the meatball, French dip and signature subs. The hot subs were ready before the cold, so by the time I got all three it had been 15 minutes and after the five min drive home it was hard to eat the meatball sub. The bread just got so soaked from the sauce....so don't get it to go, eat it as fresh as you can. The food was good. There was six workers and orders will still coming out slow, prob some operations efficiencies they could easily implement. Maybe throw in a kiosk and push that front counter host to the line to help with food. The width of the bar to production line was tight so hard for other workers to help when needed. read more

This was my 2nd visit to GreenShack at Food Lab., and only my 2nd time at Food Lab ever. I walked around the food court to check out the other options, but there's a reason I ended up at GreenShack again. Both times I ordered The Joker (why mess with a good thing?) but this time I tried the Shack chips, dusted with both Truffle Parm and Lemon Garlic. The food here is outstanding! I was so impressed with how friendly and polite the staff was and how well all of them treat each customer, even if it's someone just stopping to look at the menu board. On my 2nd visit I was helped by Chef Drew. His recommendations were spot on and he was just a genuinely nice guy. While I was eating at the counter there, he checked on me several times, making sure I was enjoying the food and that I was well taken care of. He also topped off my drink without me even asking, stuff you just don't expect from anywhere other than a sit down restaurant. Don't even think about it, just go. You can't go wrong with GreenShack! read more

It's been a while since I left a review on yelp, but this establishment is the kind of place that you love to visit because you know that you are going to get amazing food and not only that but amazing service as well. The owner and staff are very friendly and made sure we were taken care of. I had the chopped cheese and it was so fresh and flavorful. The flavor combinations on that sandwich brought back childhood memories from when my grandparents would make a chopped cheese sandwich when I would visit. I will definitely be back and plan on becoming a regular customer. read more

We never go to the Riverside food lab because the wifey doesn't like the food, once we saw the meatball sub here and the Philly cheese steak we knew we had to try it. The meatball sub had so much flavor it didn't just taste like a ball of meat it was seasoned perfectly, moist, and savory. Literally the best meatball sub I have ever had and I used to eat meatball subs weekly for the protein. The Philly cheese steak is severed inside the bread meaning all of the inside of the bread is removed and the Philly cheese steak is put inside the sandwich..... I know sounds like a hot pocket but it is literally seasoned and so savory with all the flavor you could ask. If my heart could take it I would eat one before brushing my teeth lol. Then as we were finishing the owners gave us samples of their pastrami sandwich which I hate mustard and pickles but I loved their sandwich. Banana pudding which I'm allergic to bananas lol jk but I loved it, then they also gave us a jalapeño popper potato salad which in all honest words you need to try to experience it. The service was incredible they welcomed us into their corner of the food lab and we felt like we stepped into their world of food and felt comfortable. The owners were so sweet, kind and welcoming we will definitely be back. The experience is worth it, happy to have this place in Riverside and we will definitely be back. read more

So we are long time customers of their other location in San Bernardino which is about a 7 minute drive for me. We always place our order online. They have no seating so we have to get it to go. Very good food and staff. When I heard riverside location has seating I said oh just what we've been looking for, we gotta go. Took a 21 minute drive and found it but parking in riverside is always a task, parking is hard to find and on somedays you have to pay to park. I had to drive around 2x just to find a parking spot. Not knowing Green Shack is in Food lab (indoor food court), it was very hard to find. No signs outside. But we finally found it, walked inside and looked around for Green shack. Found it, placed our order. We both got a turkey sandwich and I asked about combos she said yes for $6 you get a side and a drink. Oh cool ill have the Mac salad, sorry we dont have Mac salad. Oh ok how bout a bag of dorritos no we have our homemade chips. Oh I'm used to your other location. Oh yeah we dont offer the same sides. Oh ok do you have coke or Pepsi (coke only for me)? Oh I'm sorry we dont have either, we carry stubborn drinks (which i think were bottled or canned). Oh no thank you. So we ended up getting coke (with refills) from another place. So I waited for our food while my girlfriend looked for a table. She uses a walker so we needed a low table. They only have 2 or 3 low tables, the rest were all high table tops. Oh they also have tables outside but it was 105°. So she saw a family which looked like they were a out to leave (standing up and putting on their back packs). So she walked over to ask them if they were leaving and one lady spoke to the other in Spanish then looked at my girlfriend, rolled her eyes and rudely told her NO! and quickly sat back down. Seeing my girlfriend using a walker, Most courteous people if not all (if they can) will say no but here I can move over and we will make room. But back to the green shack. I waited 26 minutes for only 2 sandwiches which we thought that was a very long time. I ended finding seats in the back near a dishwasher, I believe they were the employees seats. So we ate there. Sandwiches were not as good as the SB location. Will we be back? With driving over 20 minutes to have to look hard for a parking spot then have to fight to find a seat and food not up to par and not offering the same sides we like...yeah we will stick to Sb location. read more

This was our first time here at Green Shack we were just walking around the Food Lab planning on having a pizza, but saw the sandwich shop. We were met by a fantastic member of the staff named Devo. He drew us in by explaining some of their signature dishes. We had not been to the food lab for a while. We live in the neighborhood and now this is going to be our new favorite sandwich shop. My wife had the Dipper and I had the Rubidoux both of them were excellent. Unfortunately, I did not take pictures. We were too hungry and we just ate. We will definitely be back to try additional sandwiches. Great service. The vibe at great at the Food Lab. I'm looking forward to trying the meatball sandwich. I don't know why we have not been here more frequently considering it's only a block away from where we live. We will definitely be back very soon. Highly recommended. The Dipper is easily the best beef dip in the IE the beef was tender the grilling onions were very flavorful. The beef dipping stock was flavorful and delicious. The Rubidoux was a delicious customer Ruben with delicious meat, cheese, and sauerkraut on rye bread very nice. I would definitely order both of these sandwiches again. Highly recommended. read more
