Very delicious food, affordable prices. This is a nice vegetarian restaurant in the middle of Kendington market. Very efficient and friendly service. We always have great experience there, definitely recommended.

    Pad Thai
    Fahim L.

I visited Greens Vegetarian Restaurant. I got the Pad Thai which came with mock beef. The mock beef was almost indistinguishable from beef. It tasted almost exactly like gyro meat. The Pad Thai was absolutely amazing and fresh. The service was quite quick and excellent. The restaurant is a nice, small, intimate environment. My experience here has been great and I highly recommend ordering the Pad Thai here! Update: Recently, they have reduced the quantity of mock beef that they provide, so I personally will be asking for extra mock beef if I return and get the Pad Thai, however, overall, the food and the quality is great.

I've always wanted to come here and I've never been able to... for some strange reason on Christmas Day during the evening we found ourselves looking for places that would be open in Chinatown and stumbled upon finding them open!! I'm so glad we finally made the trip because we will definitely be back!! Let me say this place was busy and despite them being that rammed the owners were amazingly nice calm and the service was fantastic. We were seated very quickly and the menus and hot tea were brought over right away. The lady patiently answered all our questions and after walking around we ordered the hot and sour soup the crispy wontons the crispy noodles and mock chicken dish which I can't remember the name of! The wontons were delicious especially with their hot sauce! The soup was perfect and the noodles were the highlight of our meal although the mock chicken dish was all so yummy the thing I missed oddly enough was texture. I wish they had either roasted them or pan-fried them or did something to the mock chicken like most places do so that it would actually hold otherwise it ended up tasting mostly like tofu in the dish. I'm not saying it tasted bad it's just not a texture we are used to most places you go it's usually fried so you get some textured crunch when eating it. You know the owners care about their food and their customers when they actually asked us how come we didn't finish eating the chicken dish and we gave them our feedback. What a wonderful way to ensure that your customers are satisfied and that they will come back I really appreciate when owners take the time to do that!! So if you are in the area and looking for veggie cuisine you don't need to go to a regular Chinese restaurant and pick from a tiny section of the men you definitely give these guys are shot you will be back!

Crispy soya fritters. Nice flavor and great texture!

Came here as a second choice. The place we had hoped to go to just west of this place was closed on Tuesdays. The place looked simple and clean. Staff were friendly. They even turned up the heat for us when it started to feel a bit chilly. Two of us came for dinner and we ordered the following: * Crispy soya fritters - first time having these. They were tasty & had a great texture. Almost like biting into popcorn chicken. I would order it again. * Assorted gluten and being curd - nice plate to order if you want a variety of things. However, I found it wasn't that great. The taste was on the bland side & the mock duck wasn't as good as other places I've been. Don't think I'll order this again. * Mock chicken fried rice with cashew nuts - nice flavoring, not greasy or oily and lots of cashews. Yum! * sweet-and-sour mock chicken - very generous portion. Flavorful but I would have like just a little less batter around the mock chicken. All in all, we had a good evening.

Deep-fried taro fish is pretty cute. Never knew taro fish existed.

Spacious restaurant with a good amount of seating. Came around 1:30 for lunch on a Saturday and it was empty, but it's kind of out of the way from Chinatown as well. Interior is maintained and looks clean and tidy. Washrooms are also clean. Menu offers a good selection of vegetarian options. It's not too different from a typical Chinese restaurant menu, perhaps with a few different ingredients in some of the dishes. Portions are pretty big. Consider splitting dishes with others if going in a group. If you're looking for a vegan place and don't want to spend too much, this is probably one of the more affordable options compared to other places I've seen.

I don't expect much from most of the restaurant in Chinatown area but Greens Vegetarian Restaurant is definitely a nice surprise. Clean, nicely decorated, spacious and even a clean washroom!!! I really enjoyed most of the food we ordered and shared but I love carb and veggie than meat. Hot and Sour Soup ($6.99) - has a lot of ingredients and a nice balance of hot and sour Spring Roll Platter ($5.99) - love mango and rice paper roll Eggplant with Tofu in Black Bean Sauce ($7.99) - love eggplant and the nice sauce Deep Fried Mock Chicken in Lemon Sauce ($7.99) - meh Sweet and Sour Mock Chicken ($8.99) - love sweet and sour sauce and the batter is light and crispy! Spicy Ma Po Tofu ($7.99) - really bland tasting and too watery Singapore Style Vermicelli ($5.99) and Fried Rice Noodle with Mock Beef ($5.99) - surprisingly tasty and with fresh of the wok flavour Assorted Vegetables Dish ($7.99) - good and healthy choice! Service here has a nice family vibe, though a little slow. I will be back to Greens Vegetarian for some well prepared Chinese food. I might just skipped those mock meat and opt for the fresh ingredients!

I had an amazing experience here! It is hard to find vegan Chinese food dt Toronto and we were pleasantly surprised to come across this gem. We were in Chinatown when go started craving Chinese food and found this place. The place looks modest, but the food was great, the price were more than fair and the portions were huge! The staff was very nice and accommodating, which made our experience even more enjoyable! The curry is an absolute MUST HAVE Highly recommend this place

    Kung Bao Chicken.
    Shannon M.

Ordered the Buddha Crispy noodles with mixed vegetables and the Kung bao "chicken". The sauce on the Kung bao was so thick it looked like slime, and the pieces of tofu were bland and tasted completely unseasoned. I also had what I will assume was the stalk of a piece of asparagus in my dish and not sure why since it didn't seem that there was any asparagus in my dish. The crispy noodles with mixed vegetables had literally 2 pieces of (tofu) protein in them. The only reason I'm giving this 2 stars is because the spring rolls, while expensive and slightly burnt, were large and tasty. Will not return when back in Toronto. I will say that we ordered our items TO GO, as it seems, based on other reviews here that they have a serious problem with those type of orders specifically in both taste and portion sizes compared to in the restaurant.

    Mock chicken balls
    Mei M.

3.5 stars. Pro: - great place for vegetarians - huuuge portion and decent price ($15 per person for mock chicken, hot and sour soup, and noodles with mock duck) - lots of seating - short wait for food Con: - the mock duck was not very good especially compared to some of the other mock meats I've had in the area. You can still see the tofu in its diced shape that's just inside a doughy ball. - not a lot of vegetables, more noodles and does not resemble the photo in the menu at all Verdict: it's an okay option for Chinese vegetarian food but Buddhas vegetarian food is just a couple of minutes walk away and food is much better although the decor and atmosphere is much worse. So if you want comfortable environment to eat and care less about the taste this place would be a better option! Also service here is very nice and attentive.

Greens is my new favourite vegetarian Chinese restaurant. They used to be Full Moon Vegetarian but they changed owners and renovated last year and it's been a huge improvement! They serve a lot of 'traditional' chinese food dishes that you might get at meat-serving Chinese restaurants such as sweet 'n sour chicken balls. I never really ate meat so this has given me a chance to try these dishes. The best dish on the menu is far and away the Lemon Chicken(order with a side of rice). The sweet lemon sauce is so good on the crispy fried batter. If you get a soup, expect it to be huge. A medium is only $3.99, which is crazy ridiculous cheap. Pretty much everything is very affordable and the portions size are really good. It's a great place for groups too. I once had 30 people here for a dinner and sharing dishes was great and very affordable. I shared with about 7 people sitting near me and we had each ordered a dish, plus a soup and the total came to $11 with tax and tip per person. If you haven't tried Greens, give it a shot.

The posters outside caught my eye, and I decided to come back with a group of three friends to try it out. We came a bit late around 8 PM, and most of the fish were already sold out except the original. We ended up ordering the Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($40), a whole fish served bubbling hot with three toppings (potatoes, spam, and lotus root). You can choose between catfish and turbot, we chose the turbot fish. It looked extremely spicy, but the spice level was actually perfect. It was a bit on the oily side, but pairing it with rice balanced it out nicely. The fish was very tender and buttery, everything tasted amazing! We also ordered the Stir-Fried Egg with Tomato. The eggs were soft, the tomato sauce was rich. Not to mention the portion size was huge, we even had leftovers after eating until we were full. The restaurant itself was spacious, clean, and had plenty of seating. I think they were doing some sort of promotion so they gave us a $25 off coupon, though it expired pretty quickly so we didn't get to use it. I'd definitely come back for that grilled fish.

This is a new Chinese restaurant featuring Hunan and Szechuan cuisine. The spicy dishes emphasize…read morespiciness, not numbness. A few of their dishes come out on a sizzling plate with flames underneath. They are still in soft-opening mode with several specials. You can see the menus via a QR code. The Hunan cuisine is listed as "Hunan Noodles" and the Szechuan cuisine is listed as "Chopfire Menu". The Szechuan dishes are listed with 1 to 3 chilies representing the spiciness. If you can't handle spicy, then avoid eating the chili pieces and you might "survive". The restaurant decided to minimize their food offerings so that they can focus on refining their dishes in terms of quality and taste, including from customer feedback. We ordered the following: 1. Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($39.95). 2. Home Stir Fried Beef ($21.95). 3. Bullfrog with Baby Ginger ($19.95). 4. Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork ($15.95). 5. Drunk Oolong (charcoal roasted oolong tea base) x 2 ($5.95 x 2). 6. Lemon Taro Balls ($7.95). We also saw the following: 7. Stir-Fried Sliced Pork with Green Pepper Noodle Soup ($9.99). First 10 customers each day, only pays $1.00. 8. Ink Painting Cocktail ($5.95). The Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish came out on a huge sizzling platter. The BBQ Fish, a Turbot Fish, was very fresh and flaky, easily coming off the bone. There is no head attached like at typical Chinese restaurants but it would not have fit in the platter. The platter had a delicious sauce (soupy consistency and not sweet), luncheon meat slices, lotus root slices, and two other vegetables, along with chili pieces. The entire dish tasted great together with the various flavours. The menu listed it as 2-chili spicy but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Home Stir Fried Beef is tender. It is listed as 3-chili but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Bullfrog with Baby Ginger has the bullfrog cut up in little pieces; no you don't see a whole frog! The meat was actually good but most pieces have bones in it, so it takes time to eat it carefully. There was ginger slices in it but it, but we thought the slices were quite large! The Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork was very delicious! It came in a sizzling plate. The Cauliflower was flavourful and was not crunchy and not too soft. I've never had preserved pork slices before; it was quite good, not as salty as Chinese preserved vegetables. The Drunk Oolong has comes in a small bowl a with gin and ice. On the side, they include pieces of the charcoal roasted oolong tea leaves so you can smell it; quite a good smell indeed. You can also order it without the gin, which is what I ordered for mine (since I don't drink alcohol). It was such a nice drink! The Lemon Taro Balls dessert was pretty. In the centre was a slice of lemon. The customer service was good. There is plenty of indoor table and counter seating, including a small private room at the back. There is also an outdoor patio during warmer weather. There is pop music playing in the background. There is no free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There are two gender-neutral washrooms downstairs, so they are not wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2025-026

The signature apple wood roasted Peking duck was definitely a highlight, especially with the tableside carving, which made the whole experience feel even more polished and memorable. The skin had that beautiful lacquered finish, and the duck was rich, flavorful, and very satisfying. We also ordered a few larger dishes for the table, and I really appreciated how everything still felt refined without losing that comforting, indulgent side of Chinese dining.
