This salon is partnered with Groupon but good luck being able to book your appointments (or get your money back). My personal experience with booking an appointment here for a service found through Groupon, nobody bothered to reach out to me. I felt scammed. Owner doesn't seem to care about building customer rapport and lacks leadership skills. Update: What a professional response- not surprising coming from you. Well nobody knows exactly who you are because you're a crook. 1.) Why are you using an alias under a "Maria R."? and 2.) I did some research and there is no legitimate license under your business name (Balencia AND Greenprose). Neither your businesses are registered with the state. This place is aces. The salon is comfy and welcoming. The hours are convenient. It is surrounded by numerous places to grab a coffee, a bite to eat or do some shopping. Make a day of it and support your local community. The products that Jen uses are all organic. She told me about many of the other services available at the salon, waxing, Cool Sculpting, massage, reiki, etc. Talk about full service! I got a haircut and highlights. Tracy did a good job with my haircut and I am happy about it. She was also very patient with the highlights. This salon says they use organic products. I haven't verified that myself but the products did not smell of ammonia and I had no symptoms of itchy scalp. My highlights looked great when I was at salon under their bright yellow lights. But they look different in daylight and other places I go. Also the color seems a bit uneven in places, I guess it's the product. I have a feeling I might need to touch up soon. My overall experience was good and I recommend this place if you are into using organic products. read more

I found Rebecca by way of a Facebook promotion and it's the best move I've ever made!! She is a fantastic stylist. She is extremely knowledgeable and her cut and color is on point. the only reason I took away a star is because the salon itself is lacking. It seems as if it is poorly run. This would normally be a turn off for me but for a stylist as talented as Rebecca I will put up with it. UPDATE: Just received the most unprofessional email from this salon telling me they fired Rebecca for lying about using non organic products without their knowledge. THIS IS COMPLETELY FALSE!!! Tried this organic hair salon for the first time on Friday. Tracy was fantastic. She listened carefully to my hair woes and then performed a miracle on my damaged hair. The cut and styling were perfect for me and my hair has not looked this good in years. She also spent time with me showing me how to style this cut at home. I made an appointment knowing that so many friends and colleagues get their hair done by Jason and Michael. I unfortunately can't comment as to their capabilities, price, or style. I can, however, comment on their professionalism, given that I canceled my appointment after being verbally insulted by sylist Anthony Salhany outside of the salon. I realize he didn't know I was a future customer, but in reality, why treat people poorly at all? And why would I want someone who says such loathsome things styling my hair? I would have to assume that the way he views people comes out in his craft. Very disappointed. Kindness never hurts, and shouldn't cost extra. This salon is very responsive, and actually calls you back when they tell you they will, which in today's day and age, is rare and underrated. That's always a plus, but the REAL plus is the one and only hairstyling genius, Michael DiQuinzio. I would (and have) gone to Providence just so he can give me a trim... he's THAT good. I've been seeing Michael since he was at the Aveda salon on Thayer Street (R.I.P.), and he's been nothing short of spectacular. The magic he can create with coiffure is beyond words. He gave me my first REALLY short cut/angled bob, and it was a hit. I got it done before my best friend's wedding in '09, and people STILL rave about it. He's touched up my highlights, he's given me a beautiful updo (with aforementioned short hair--I told you he's got incomparable skills!), and he always gives the best advice. A friend and stylist in one... you can't really ask for more. Most recently, I asked him to give me a trim and once again, he knocked it out of the ballpark. He started with a mini shoulder massage a la Aveda spas, and washed my hair with Oribe shampoo and conditioner, and a few expert snips and spritzes of dry texturizing spray later, my hair had transformed into this incredibly voluminous, amazingly shiny, beautifully layered masterpiece. Even days afterwards, people came up to me and said, "Wow, your hair looks REALLY good." I tell them, oh, yeah, it's all the Magic of Michael. Definitely get yourself down to Wayland Square if/when you can... it'll be a treat for your tresses, I guarantee it! read more

Go see Jane here! She is amazing. Every time I come in, she brings me down to her lair (also known as her chair, which is in a private room) and fixes me up to look like some sort of retro bombshell. This usually involves a little volume in the hair, a little trim, colour, and a bit of make-up (Jane also does make-up at the salon, particularly for weddings and headshots). One thing I love about Jane is that she never tries to sell me more hair products - this drives me insane when I go to other salons because I already have about five times the hair products I need and I like to think my hair, particularly in its short state, doesn't need much. Also, she's an excellent conversationalist... if she were a talk show host, I'd put her somewhere in-between Oprah and Ricki Lake. I usually go in a little stressed and leave feeling relaxed, with just the right dose of reality check. Although I don't go in specifically for make-up, I recommend getting it done here because Jane is really good at a dewy, natural look. She knows exactly how to bring out facial features and the colour in your eyes/lips. Oh, and as far as pricing goes, I'd say it's pretty fair compared to other places in the area despite being much nicer. All over colour and a tiny bit of a trim usually puts me at fifty even. read more

After my hairdresser and friend of about 20 years changed her schedule to not include Saturday's I sadly searched for a new salon. I was looking for more "natural" options and tried a place but it wasn't the right fit for me. Two separate friends recommended Jen at Green Prose and after I had my first appointment I was TRILLED! It's located across from the Starbucks in Wayland Sq. (Can park in the CVS lot behind it). Jen is the only stylist so it is quiet and relaxing. She is a pro and gave my wavy/unruly hair the perfect cut. She used organic color and highlights that look beautiful and natural. In addition, Jen is warm, personable and professional. My husband even commented 3 weeks after my cut about how good my hair looked and friends a work have mentioned it too. I decided to take my young daughter there for her first haircut and Jen was awesome with her. She explained everything and even gave her an "Elsa" braid. I went here and the stylist over the phone kept telling me that she was doing the services for next to nothing for the groupon deal and to make sure to bring a tip, I was understanding of this because I'm an eyelash technician although it was said pretty harsh. Also I got there for my 3 pm appointment at 250 to be polite. The stylist was w her other client till 330 which I had no complaints about I didn't work till 6 and didn't realize how long color takes. As the stylist was finishing up her client the client had some complaints but was still happy anyway the stylist made mean faces about her comments towards me like it was funny while she wasn't looking. A client she said gets her a lot of her clients. Then I asked if I'd be good to go by 530 , she looked at me turned her head and with the biggest attitude said "well do you know anything about hair color?" I was like well no feeling a little awkward and embarrassed and she continued to come at me with attitude about it for 4 mins straight while I wasn't even responding and looking of course uncomfortable so I left. I texted the salon owner that it was very unprofessional and I did not deserve to be talked to that way I am loyal to my appointments tip well and also have many friends that do the same , proper with no swears typed well, she victimized herself calling it "beyond avusive " denying her attitude . I would've just got a trim and style to make it to work and scheduled for another day but the woman in the salon was very comfortable treating her clients poorly and I left feeling very negative and unable to find somewhere else to style my hair before work. read more

I don't normally write bad reviews, I usually just let things go. However, I just received the most disturbing email from this salon (which I was a client of until a few days ago, but I will get to that). The email bashed a former stylist saying she was let go bc she lied to clients saying they were getting organic products, when they weren't. Not only is this VERY UNPROFESSIONAL, I do not need to know about the drama in a business. It was complete slander on this stylist. This stylist, who is an AMAZING stylist. She was recently let go bc of conflicts in this salon. Never once did this stylist ever lead me to believe that she was using organic products on my hair. In fact, she told me even though the salon promotes them as an organic salon, she did not have the appropriate products for my hair bc management was uncooperative in getting her what she needed. I would not recommend this salon, in fact it should be shut down. A few months ago they were infested with fruit flies. I told management and they blew me off saying "it was their recycling". Yet when I went 5 weeks later, there were still fruit flies, but not as many. If that email was sent about me, I'd be hiring a lawyer and suing the owners for slander. read more

Sarah is the best hairdresser I have ever been to. I get my hair cut and colored by her and she always does a phenomenal job. There are even times when I will walk in and tell her to just do something with my hair and it turns out better than I could have hoped. A professional, fun, and flexible salon, Femme Fatale was conveniently located near the place I was to get ready for my wedding. Kassianne did my hair and Jillian did my make-up for both my rehearsal and the wedding day. They were sweet, knowledgeable, and great at picking up on the things I liked and didn't like. We were able to schedule my trial appointment in the evening so that my maid of honor could be there, and they did hair and make up for my mom and five bridesmaids the morning of the wedding with time to spare. I was very happy with how everything turned out. It felt (and looked) like me, just the prettiest I had ever been. read more
