They did an amazing job getting a really tough stain out of a family made item. The stain had set in for several months and most places were telling us that it may be impossible to get the stain out. It now looks good as new! read more

At $15 for pants and $5 for a dress shirt, weekly drop-offs become extremely expensive very quickly. While I appreciate the mission and the quality, the cost feels out of reach for everyday use. They have expert tailoring available 3 days/week. The prices reflected an "expert" job., so I was hopeful. I brought a number of projects including a pair of pants & jeans that I didn't want the legs to be so wide. The tailor suggested doing it so that you wouldn't see it. Both turned out very well and were nicely pressed as a bonus. On one top he added fabric he had so you couldn't see through the openings around the buttons, but the button placket was sticked down and I could no longer un-button it. He said he'd see what he could do but didn't think its would be possible. On another top that I wanted let out, he added fabric to the underarm which didn't have enough of a hem to let out. When I picked up an item that I had a small hole "re-weaved", I looked and still found a hole. I asked him to re-do it and he said he would do it quickly while I waited. He said it must be a 2nd hole. He came back with it in plastic. When I got home i saw that while repaired it was pulled too tightly and causing puckering. I brought it back to be fixed. When I picked it up all the work had been removed and the hole was back. I was told that the manager had emailed me and refunded me, saying that they couldn't do anything more for me. I checked for any communication and didn't find anything. Also, there was no refund of any kind from Greener Cleaner. Not happy here. read more

I do not recommend using Greener Cleaner. I sent them two sweaters and they both came back in poor condition. One came back with the tag ripped off and tan spots all over the front. Another came back with thinned material and shrunk. Mistakes happen but the owner, Mike Bleier, was rude, blaming me for the mistakes, and took zero ownership in the job his company did. Furthermore, he went and left a very rude Google review of me on my Menopause Health Coaching platform. Obviously, he's not a woman, and not navigating menopause, and did this to be unprofessional and childish because I left him an honest review. Any owner of a business who would do that is not worth your hard-earned dollars. Also, I'm from Chicago, not Vail, CO. That is incorrect. read more

First of all if you go on to The Greener cleaners website you'll see, (if they haven't taking it down yet, thank God I've taken screenshots for the attorneys) they ask you how you want each and every individual item cleaned. After taking 3 hours out of my busy day I wrote down instructions for all of my wash. Not rocket science whites get hot water, bleach, and a snuggly softener in the dryer. This would include Sox t-shirts sheets and towels. On the other hand clothes that were darker in color would receive tide, cool water and a Snuggly in the dryer Finally and most importantly I put all fleece items which were a robe and a pair of pajamas must be washed separately as it says so on the cleaning instructions that are sewn into the garments. And because these are brand-new I emphasized it. But despite that I got my laundry back after paying $66 and everything I had sent them was destroyed. The 12 pair of new socks I had all were full of NUBS, and were pitch black on the bottom. My white t-shirts were all stained from copious amounts of beverages I dropped on them since I have MS. Everything else that was white, including my towels were terribly stained, nothing looked clean or remotely clean. It looked just like it had been folded. My box of snuggle never came back to me. Fast forward to a week after getting this bag of ruined clothing. I telephoned for the 10th time hoping not to get voicemail again and to my surprise I was answered by an Hispanic women. I explained to her nothing was cleaned, not even close to my satisfaction. It all looked as if it wasn't washed it all. That's when she told me," we don't follow your instructions, we just take whatever is in your bag and throw it directly from your bag into the washer. I said are you kidding me? You don't even separate things? NO, she said again," are you not listening to me"? We just take them from the bag and throw them directly into the washer. Well I want my 66 fucking dollars back. These clowns couldn't do wash if they were given a manual, which is what is so GD hysterical that's exactly what I gave them. Now every one of my socks, all of my hundred dollar t-shirts have NUBS on them. Now rags. Avoid this wash and fold service place like the plague, they are. A bunch of numbnuts. Oh and I forgot to tell you, I WAS TOLD BY THE OWNER, (AND THE HISPANIC WOMAN) they NEVER, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE HOT WATER ONLY COLD. So that exercise where they had me fill out how to take care of all of my clothing was just that an exercise for me because for them it was bullshit. They had no intention of washing anything the way I had asked them to wash either by email or by written instructions included in my laundry. Save yourself some money and go somewhere else and I wouldn't even give them one star but it's a prerequisite on this site. read more

After out cat was sick on our comforter my wife took it to a regular coin laundry and unfortunately some black rubber stains transferred onto it, disaster after all its pure white We tried everything and nothing worked so we brought here. Thank you for sorting out nightmare. Despite being advised they did the best they could we don't see any marks and the comforter is restored to glory. I have used both the Edgewater and Skokie hubs for Greener Cleaner and have yet to have a bad experience. I love that I don't walk in and smell dry cleaning fluid. I love their eco-friendly model, their friendly customer service, and the fact that in bad driving weather or in a pinch I can get my items delivered. They have cleaned everything from suits to blankets and comforters for me, and their tailors have altered or repaired several items. It's like having a small-town cleaner in the big city! read more

Don't come here for alterations. They ruined my Tory Burch dress when all they had to do was a simple hem. They clearly did not measure because: 1. Some parts of the lining were a half inch longer than other parts 2. The outer skirt was 2" longer on the left side than the right 3. The lining was longer than the outer skirt in some places causing the lining to show This cost $40. I took it back to be corrected, which they did for free. However all they did was cut the lining significantly shorter -- 3" shorter. Now the dress is still uneven and the lining is too short. Completely ruined the dress. Was going here for about 3 years....customer service was always amazing - the two ladies who work here are great. Though I did have two incidents where I showed up and the store was not open at 7am as posted - a big inconvienence after lugging my clothes up there, but since there are only two employees who knows, maybe one was sick, running late, etc. My only reason for 3 stars, not 4 or 5 is the price. I get it, its "greener" so its going to be more expensive....but compared to a regular dry cleaner this place is SUPER pricey. So much so, I'm back to harming the environment. read more

I sent a pair of pants, with instructions, for cleaning and repair. They returned clean but not repaired and no explanation was provided about the lack of repair. I emailed and received a prompt response, apologizing and asking me to send the pants back to them with Ana's name as reference and that I would not be charged. When my pants came back the second time, only a partial repair had been completed and I was charged (despite being told that I would not be). I emailed and never received a response. read more

I picked up today my white winter coat from the Greener Cleaner and it is spotless. They got wine stains out!! It is a miracle. They saved my coat. I looked at the coat up and down checked everywhere. Ok it must have shrunk or something it can't be that perfect. But it is. Just like new. I think we can have a successful partnership. As someone who had never really needed a cleaner, I did not know what to look for but I had hoped this place would be perfect for me: in the neighborhood, "green" products and convenient hours for my work schedule. The prices are high, the service is awful and the staff is down right rude! I have had alterations done twice here and both times got attitude from the staff because they "undercharged" me for their work. I've been using Greener Cleaner for wash and fold service and couldn't be happier. I live in a high-rise, so laundry day means lots of up and down and waiting for an elevator. They pick up/drop off my laundry right to my door. Plus, I don't even have to be home. Everything is done through the website/app, so I can view or edit orders.  Oh, and the laundry comes back looking and smelling great and expertly folded; even fitted sheets!  Highly Recommend. read more

Disappointed. I told the driver when he arrived for pick up that my bag was ripped and I needed a new one. I got the same bag back. Most of the stains are still there on several items. And worst of all, they smell so badly of dry cleaning fluid they're making me sick. I have had all my items hanging in my bathroom with the window open for the past 3 days. Every time I go in there I start coughing. It's not going away. I have used them in the past, but I think this might be the last time. I chose them because they're supposed to be green. There shouldn't be a toxic smell. From what I've read, the smell comes from dirty filters. Not sure when I'll be able to wear any of those clothes again. Really upset. UPDATE: Mike, the owner called to have all my stuff redone at no charge. He was kind and gracious and definitely wants to keep up his good name! I have been a loyal customer for years. The service has been hit or miss and I've had some clothes ruined - but put up with it for the convenience. This week I placed an order because I'm headed out of town next week. They no-showed and never responded to calls, texts, and emails. When I reached out to them, they claimed to have emailed me the next day, but they didn't and there is no e-mail they can show me that they tried. When I eventually reached them on the phone they said they finished early the evening I placed my order and went home early - and the owner forgot to turn off the incoming orders. While I understand people make mistakes, I don't understand a system that has a phone, text and e-mail support system that they failed to respond to. That's really bad customer service. Fortunately, I was able to find a same day dry cleaner who helped me out (and won over my business with great customer service). And they are green too. They also know how to provide top notch customer service. read more

Fine for shirts or things you don't care much about but don't recommend for coats or important items. I've used this service because they have a deal with my building in downtown Chicago. I was about to drop some dresses for them to pick up (thank goodness I didn't) and took out the last coat they did for me in the reusable bag to reload. It is completely ruined! It was my favorite winter coat and is now harsh feeling and almost has a texture to it, which it never did before. I have the same coat in another color that I dry cleaned with another company and I pulled it out to compare - feels like a totally different fabric. So disappointed, hopefully my building can find another cleaner to promote, until then I'll walk to Streeterville to my old one. read more

I really love Greener Cleaner!!! They saved my whole summer, and they save me from rolling around in months-old dirty sheets because I'm too lazy to wash them. They make me smell better! Ramiro does a fantastic job, consistently professional and always so nice! He's a lifesaver and works hard every day! He's works really hard to accommodate my schedule and I appreciate everything he does!!! Real talk though: when it's hard to get out of bed, because you don't feel very good, having freshly cleaned clothes show up for you when you need them is so effective for helping to get you motivated again. I take my laundry in for their wash and fold service and I'm very happy with them. What's imperative to me is the absence of perfumes or extra chemicals in my laundry and they give me clean, perfectly-folded, eco and allergy-friendly, neatly-packed bags every time. Luz is smart and very good at her job. She's friendly, thorough, fast and conscientious; a person who takes care to listen to my concerns and requests, she always finds a way to make my experience great. So worth the money! This company - while once very good - has obviously become simply awful at customer service as it has grown. Collections in my Park Ridge neighborhood have been moved to so early in the morning that 'Ana' has sent me a text suggesting I leave my rather expensive tailored suits and shirts (bespoke) out OVERNIGHT to accommodate their schedule. Seriously? 8am is just WAY too unacceptable to them - so I should allow my expensive clothing to sit outside overnight? I think not. Mike the owner contacted me after my negative comments on the Facebook page. Not a pleasant conversation despite my being a long term customer. Now - once they get the clothing they do a nice job. No question about that. But I am simply not going to use them any more because the pickup / delivery - along with really hostile interactions with the owner and employees that are unacceptable to me as a paying customer. I honestly think not every customer and business is a good match. And that's OK. But I think these folks have forgotten that they are the vendor and I'm the customer. I'm not here to serve them. I took a formal gown here to be cleaned. Beautiful midnight blue, sleek. I just needed a couple of spots removed from the bottom. They did tell me that they wash things in water. I didn't think anything of it... thinking that they know how to treat formal wear. THEY DO NOT! My beautiful dress is ruined. They really washed it in water as in submersion and then they dry it and press it in all its wrinkled glory! I now have a midnight blue formal gown that has pressed crinkles in it. I told them that it looks worse than when I dropped it off. They again stated that they wash everything in water. I state that being a non-drycleaner owner... that I had no idea my dress would turn out this way and would have never had dropped it off here. They say "sorry." Warning! The cost turned out to be about $3 less than I was initially quoted and they take 2% off your ticket if you pay with cash. Articles are usually laundered on the premises. This is a great business. They are always friendly (especially the girl who often works the cash register) and do an excellent cleaning job. My clothes are always soft, smell great, and look like new after visiting the Greener Cleaner. Additionally, the "green cleaning" is very mild and does not irritate sensitive skin as other cleaner's chemicals can. When a stain remained on one of my tops after being cleaned they were happy to try again at no cost. In fact there is apparently one guy who is the "stain master". He happened to be out of town when my top was cleaned the first time but was in the shop when I was checking out. He took one look and said he could take care of it. So, if you have a stain make sure he is in town! It is definitely worth being on their mailing list. They send out a coupon at least once a month. The prices are a bit high compared to other cleaners but when you factor in the quality of the cleaning (which maintains the integrity of your fibres), environmentally friendly agents, and the coupons - it is definitely worth it. I am fully dedicated to this cleaner. I wouldn't think of going anywhere else. read more

I have been a loyal customer for nearly a year now. I am amazed with the quality of cleaning done by environmentally conscious cleaning techniques. I honestly feel my clothes come out looking more vibrant and richer than other standard cleaners all while keeping the integrity of the cloth fibers intact. Standard cleaners always leave the appearance of having "overworked" the material, and after about a year of regular dry cleaning the clothing is quite dead looking. Not so with Greener Cleaner! My clothes look as good as new!... And if they've missed something, they are always happy to correct it as promised. I plan to continue on as a loyal patron of The Greener Cleaner. Thought I lost my tie in one of the past transactions. The owner personally got involved when I called in to report it missing and respectfully told me he will follow up and resolve the issue within 30days. He explained me that this gave them enough time to see if it comes up missing somewhere internally. Today, being 30 days after we spoke last time, called me to follow up leaving a voicemail. I was totally caught off guard!!! I totally forgot about the damn tie its self let alone him calling me to follow up!!! I called and thanked him for his follow up and told him that I ended up finding the tie on a hanger which was under one of the dresses my significant other had also dried cleaned on the same order that day and she had discovered it over the past weekend when she picked out the dress to wear that night. Aside from their amazing work which is more costly than other places but is worth the difference in price (you get what you pay for!), their terrific customer service is something that you do not see until you are in need of it !!! Three issues came up in my visit today to Greener Cleaners. First, the cleaning. I took in a double-size white down comforter. Well, befrore cleaning, it was kind of a pasty yellow color. Now, it is white again. It looks good, and it doesn't have any icky dry cleaning smell to it. That, after all, is why I first started going to the Greener Cleaners. Second, while the comforter was in the shop, I received an email with a few coupons, including one for 20% off cleaning a comforter IF you used it at drop-off. Well, my former roommate, a born and bred Chicagoan, always said, ask if you can use something like that anyway. I did ask, and I was turned down. Well, okay, technically I was wrong, but a lot of times a business will give you the discount anyway. Worth a shot. I ended up using a coupon for $5, which was less savings than 20%, but it was something. But THIRD - and this is the big issue - in chatting with the female clerk, I said, oh well, it was worth a shot. I said, I lost my job some time back, so I gotta try. SHE LAUGHED!! I said, losing a job is not funny. SHE LAUGHED AGAIN! I left. For customer service, zero stars. If any of you in the community want to be ridiculed by someone who stands behind a counter, then go to Greener Cleaners. If not, go elsewhere, or just don't buy clothes that need dry cleaning. I am also writing to the business and complaining. For the prices they charge (even with $5 off coupon), the public deserves decent service. read more

Definitely take your clothing elsewhere if it is of any value. A pair of linen shorts were retuned with the elastic waist ripped and unwearable. They "fixed" then and returned with a new elastic band along with new ripped/torn fabric along the waist. It's baffling how they could send them back in this state. They offered to fix again but never came to pick up as promised. Expensive silk dresses returned with the fabric altered in appearance. Items hung with sharp edges that dug small holes into fabric. I rarely write reviews but feel the need to warn others that clothes will likely be damaged and this cleaner is not worth the risk. read more

I've had a couple of things cleaned at this Edgewater branch of GC. One was a wool coat that had beer and a mess of winter salt stains on it. It came back impeccably laundered, and it didn't shrink either (maybe I just got lucky). This was in January. This month, said coat which has a full-length zipper to keep the Chicago chill out, started to malfunction. Teeth wouldn't stay cinched. Knowing the GC has a tailoring service, I called to ask if they did zipper work; very friendly and informative staff person said it could be fixed, but it might be 7 business days (full-disclosure; I liked that). Took the coat in and male staff (owner?) took a look at the coat, tweaked the glider mechanism in 4 seconds, and my coat was fixed, AT NO CHARGE. He would not accept any type of payment. So I thought the least I could do was recount that story here; and also left behind another pair of dress pants, also with a zipper needing replacement (bad zipper karma this month I guess). This one did, in fact, require replacement, but I was happy to leave it with them after the gracious service I'd received with my wool car coat. read more

I've had nothing but good experiences at this location. I've only used them for drop-off dry cleaning services (no alterations, laundry, pick up, etc). The staff is very friendly and helpful. Cleaned nicely without chemicals! Store is unattractive inside and kind of a mess. Initial clerk kind of indifferent while charging me for a bigger item than I had. On return, the person who helped me, (perhaps the owner?) was very personable and adjusted the price to be more correct. Relatively expensive (even with online coupon), but probably worth it to avoid the chemicals. I will go back for this reason, unless I find a nicer, better-run, non-toxic cleaner in a nearby location. read more
