When we moved to Croton in 2019, we had plans for updating and customizing our home. We tried really hard to find good contractors, having had bad experiences in the past. Unfortunately we kept having one bad experience after another. Bad quality, unfinished work, open permits, huge delays, big increases in cost from the estimates, and in general headaches for us to deal with. Fernando came in and fixed all our problems. Other contractors took 3 months to grade, install a basic stone wall, and dig a hole for a rain garden. Then they quoted us $45k to finish the work. When we said that was too high they left us with a mess. Fernando took 6 days to do that same work for half the cost. Then on top of that he fixed a huge mistake the other crew made on the rain garden and installed a good system that makes us much more confident our home is protected from big storms. The whole time he was much more transparent about materials and cost and timing than anyone else we dealt with. We're hoping that he's available for all our future projects and so happy that we finally found such a great contractor. Don't hesitate to choose Vista Construction, and you're welcome to visit our place anytime if you want to see how nice his walls look. They supposedly offer design services to help with project planning, but I've never utilized those services. In addition to a huge selection, I've found staff to be knowledgeable, the return policy is good and prices are competitive. Overall, this is a great shop if you're renovating a kitchen, bath or other. Just browsing the aisles will give you ideas. I very much recommend visiting!

One time, when a third-party cabinet supplier forgot to include a side panel in the initial shipment, the owner handpicked a virtually perfect match from some unrelated stock and just gifted it to us so that we could cut it and apply it to our island in time for a huge party we were having at our house that weekend, and we got the actual panel shortly after that. They've got a great selection of cabinetry, hardware, and countertop material, in addition to some other stuff. It's been 13 months now since installation was complete, and we're still in a state of shock about how beautiful the whole thing is every time we walk into the kitchen. Based on my recent personal experience, I unfortunately have to agree with all the negative…read morereviews. 1. Pressure to put down a deposit -- do NOT do it unless your design is final. They will push you hard to pay a deposit to "lock in" a price. In reality, any change to your initial design--no matter how small--results in a higher quote, and they will not provide any breakdown to justify the increases. You're left with two choices: accept the added cost on faith, or walk away and lose your deposit. There is no actual price lock. 2. Promises that aren't reflected in writing. The owner, Fatih, may verbally assure you that you can recover half of your deposit if you decide not to move forward during the design phase. Insist on getting everything in writing before paying anything. Once you receive the written terms (which only show up after you've sent the deposit if you let them rush you), you'll find that you are not entitled to any refund if you ever request your design--whether for review, record-keeping, or any legitimate purpose. Unsurprisingly, none of this is mentioned before they take your money. 3. Poor communication once they have your deposit. After paying, be prepared to chase them. I repeatedly had to send multiple emails and make follow-up calls just to receive a one-line response. And after these delays, they will inform you that your "locked-in" price is about to expire unless you finalize your order within a couple of days--again with no refund of your deposit if you don't. 4. Vague and non-specific documentation. The price they claim you've "locked in" only applies to an undefined "as-per-design" reference--without details. If you don't have a copy of the design, I'm not sure how you could ever prove what you supposedly locked in. They avoid putting anything concrete in writing, making it nearly impossible to hold them accountable. That alone should be a major red flag. I made the mistake of trusting this business based on a recommendation from someone I know. I hope that sharing my experience helps others avoid the same situation.
