We were a group of 9 and got seated fairly quickly as half of the place was empty. It was Monday at 1:30pm so it should not have been busy but it seemed quite busy for the time of the day. Service was quick and as soon as we were seated, hush puppies were brought out. These are free and constantly brought out if they were gone. Do not eat too much otherwise will have hard time finishing the actual meal! I got the Quarter BBQ Chicken Plate and the chicken was very delicious! The friest were good too but was not too sure of the coleslaw or the vegetable it came with. The vegetable lacked in taste but otherwise everything was delicious. Nice spot for quick meal. Check is brought to the table but need to pay at the cashier by the entrance. Friendly service but they use plastic utensils. Still, I would recommend this place and therefore five stars.

开始我对炸鱼没有什么太大的兴趣。但我试过之后我觉得这是我吃过最好吃的炸鱼 外面非常酥脆入边鱼肉非常嫩滑!非常值得一试。This is the best fry catfish I ever have in my life good to try .

开始我对炸鱼没有太大的兴趣。但我试过之后完全改变了我对炸鱼的印象.鱼肉炸得外边酥脆入边嫩滑多汁。非常值得一试。this is the best fried catfish I ever have in my life ... no exaggerate !! Good to try .

Great staff. Awesome prices. The hush puppies were king. I got the catfish plate, small. Also, FYI, no outdoor dining so no dogs allowed.

Small whole catfish with fries and slaw

Good food. Friendly efficient staff. Casual dining in relaxed atmosphere. Dine in and carry out available. Handmade hand pies, local honey, and fried pork skins at the counter for sale are popular treats.

Greenbrier has been around for SO many years. I remember going as a kid and. Still go today, the area around it has changed so much but they have not changed at all. Which is a great thing, why mess with perfection right? Their hush puppies are to die for. If you don't know what a hushpuppy is... it's basically a delicious cornmeal batter similar to cornbread that has been deep fried to a delicious golden brown. Oh can eat them plain, dip them in ketchup (when I was younger that was my go too), dip in Alabama White BBQ sauce, or my favorite Tartar sauce. You get a basket as soon as you sit down to enjoy as an appetizer while your food is being prepared. My favorite entree is the catfish filet with a baked potato or a sweet potato, it also comes with slaw (cabbage slaw made with a sugar/vinegar, no Mayo). You can also have fried but I like the potatoes better. My second favorite is the Pulled Pork BBQ platter, the pork is juicy and extremely tender and goes great with their vinegar bbq sauce on the table (not the white sauce this is a red sauce) once you have filled your stomach up with hushpuppies and your entree, take I think 50cents to the back left of the restaurant and fix you a soft serve cone or dish. It's a perfect dessert to close out the meal for super cheap. Overall inside is the exact same as it was probably 30 years ago, it's clean, the wait staff is very attentive and it's locally owned and operated. Try it out if you are nearby, you won't regret it.

It's probably been 10+ years since I last visited Greenbrier, but I took a trip out there on Monday to give it another try. I called ahead of time to place my order since I'd be in a hurry to make it back to work on time. The gentleman on the other end of the line was pleasant. I was able to place my order easily. He told me it'd be ready in 5 minutes, which surprised me - very short timeframe for carryout. I asked if they'd be willing to wait 15 minutes before putting my order in and he agreed. The restaurant is in a pretty rural location and is easy to miss, but it's been around for forever. That shows a little bit in the decor and appearance of the interior especially. My food was ready when I arrived. The man at the register was polite when I checked out, and my meal was boxed nicely. I appreciated that they added a couple of ketchup packets without me having to ask; I realized I forgot when I was more than halfway back and I was sad because I love my hush puppies dipped in a little ketchup (don't knock it till you try it, lol). Luckily for me, that was provided! The food is just alright; I'd say it's middle of the road bbq for the Huntsville area. I had a small pulled pork plate with fries. It also came with slaw and hush puppies. The tea I got to drink was absolutely ENORMOUS - so large it hardly fit in my cup holder, lol. Good value there. The small pork plate was plenty for me. The pork had a decent smoke flavor and texture, but was dry. Unfortunately, I didn't much care for the sauce that came with my meal; it was very thin, vinegar based sauce. I did like the kick to it, but I much prefer sweet, thick sauce. The fries were mushy and a little undersalted even when I ate a few before pulling away from the restaurant. I'm not really a coleslaw fan personally so I only tried a bite; it was decent but I prefer mayo-based coleslaw if I'm going to eat it at all. The highlight was, as I remembered from my last visit long ago, the hush puppies. I won't agree that they're the best hush puppies ever, but they ARE quite good. Cooked fresh, hot and crispy, with just enough oil for a little bit to seep out on your fingers, they're yummy. Again, give them a try with a lil ketchup! Just saying.

Mmmmm. Complimentary hush puppies

I passed this place on my way to work and it looked liked the type of place I seek out. I couldn't tell what the name was because it's badly worn from the Coca-Cola sign out front. I'm sure the locals know the name. It's been there forever. I had the large pulled pork with a sweet potato and slaw. And of course, the complimentary basket + of hush puppies. Like I said, these are the kinds of restaurants I seek out. I'm ready to go back and try the ribs, chicken, or fish.

While driving past a strip mall, I noticed a giant (gigundo) smoker and piles of wood in the…read moreparking lot behind the building. If I hadn't seen that, I'd never have known that a BBQ even existed there. That smoker was what brought us in. As we read the menu, we were told that only some things were available right now. The brisket I wanted to order wouldn't be ready for another hour. Macaroni and cheese? This afternoon. I settled on a pulled pork plate with baked beans and broccoli salad. Hands down the best broccoli salad I've ever had. No onions. Perfect. The baked beans were right up there in the top 10, maybe top 5 of all time. The pulled pork? Ehh. Not the best. A little dry. The plate was served in to-go box, a very full to-go box - the amount of food served was astounding. I planned on bringing home extras to serve to the family for lunch the next day. By now the brisket was ready. I also ordered a large baked beans, green beans, banana pudding and a pound of chopped chicken to go. The mac and cheese still wasn't done. The meat had great flavor but all of it was a little dry. All of the sides absolutely rocked. I will definitely be back but I'm going to call first - I want my mac and cheese please. Ps: wish sweet Maddie well as she starts A&M in the fall!!!

Tender , juicy and grilled/cooked to perfection I wasn't a fan of the sauce only because I'm used to thicker sauces ... and the Mac & cheese has room for improvement.. this place is definitely worth a visit !!!

The flies on the patio are beyond nasty. When I walked into the restaurant, people were complaining…read moreabout the flies inside. That was nothing to the patio. But I came to see the band, food was really just a bonus. The food itself was really good - I had fried green tomatoes with pulled pork. The fried green tomatoes were fresh and crisp. The pork, however was room temperature. Honestly, if I had known about the flies, I doubt that I would have even considered eating tepid pork. There was a slight drizzle of sauce but I had to go back up and request sauce. Other reviews mentioned the saltiness of the dish. If anything, it was under seasoned. I bought my grandson a chicken finger kids meal and subbed mac and cheese for the fries. The meal came with three large house made tenders. They would have been enough for me (unfortunately the fly infestation made leftovers unthinkable.) Like the tomatoes, the tenders came sans sauce necessitating another trip to the counter. He devoured the mac and cheese. It was a little soupy and had kind of congealed sauce around the edges before it was even served. I'd order it for him again but not for me. Oh, and ask for a spoon before you leave the counter. The fork that came with was for all intents and purposes useless. (Yes, another trip to the counter). The patio is a great venue. Grab a beer, grab a seat and enjoy the band. As for food? Maybe wait until winter when the flies are gone.
