They use torani syrups for flavored beverages which I didn't realize until I ordered my coffee. I got a toffee and cream cold brew which was ok. A 3.5 rounded down. Nothing to do with the service; the staff were very pleasant and super friendly. The establishment itself was nicely furnished and had comfortable seating with plenty of options. It was busy at 10:30am on the weekend with a line almost out the door; however, orders were pushed through fast and the wait was short. My order was a large white chocolate mocha and a large cinnamon vanilla latte with almond milk. With tip and taxes, this came to a whopping $18. I was shocked that the price to substitute almond milk was an additional $1.40, and oatmilk being $1.60, double the amount Starbucks charges to substitute! My large latte cost $7.15, and unfortunately, wasn't worth it, being very underwhelming (according to my tastebuds. Don't hate me.) Do not let this deter you from giving Greenberry a try. I am a firm believer in supporting local and I will come back again to give a different coffee another try, just not any time soon. read more

I just came in for a bite on a Sunday afternoon & this place was packed. Definitely not friendly for large groups, which I was with & most people left for Panera instead, but I wanted to try something more local. I will say I didn't get a drink, which is my mistake and only tried the Daybreak burrito, which was alright at best. Relatively the same price as a chipotle burrito which quite frankly would be tastier & a better value. It lacked flavor & was very dry, better with hot sauce on it but still not good. Came here with friends on a hot day to cool down and fuel our coffee addictions. The inside of the shop was clean and there were a good number of tables to sit down at. I tried the Iced White Mocha Latte, Iced Raspberry Truffle Latte, and Salted Caramel Nitro Cold Brew. The salted caramel nitro was really good. It tasted great and I would order it again the next time I find myself here. The White Mocha Latte and Raspberry Truffle Latte were decent, but I wouldn't order them again. not sure if it was because i was hungry but that burrito really cured my morning "sickness". so did the coffee. i ordered the daybreak burrito which comes with scrambled egg, spicy sausage, cholula hot sauce, queso blanco, and cilantro. very nice texture and a great combo with everything between. the egg and the queso helped balance the spice from the sausage and hot sauce. i added more hot sauce that you can grab from the counter at pick up just because and it HITS. this was my first time here about a month ago (end of january), and i was asking for recommendation for coffee. the cashier sounded unconfident but she suggested the white chocolate coffee/mocha?? i forgot. i just needed coffee and it did its job. sweetness was perfect and ice ratio too. didn't ask to alternate anything, although next time i'll ask for almond or soy milk because dairy + more dairy didn't help with the bubble guts. plenty of seating and very nice decor. it was almost vintage/modern ish. felt nostalgic in a way. will be coming back my next UVA visit. read more

I enjoyed my visit to greenberry's! I went on a Wednesday morning for a business meeting. It wasn't super packed inside, so we easily got a table. The place has a clean seething feel to it. There was a little line to order though. I got a cinnamon vanilla latte, scone, and breakfast burrito. The small scone was so tiny! I'm taking, one and a half bites max. So that was a bummer. The breakfast burrito was pretty good and really filling. But the star of the show for me was the cinnamon vanilla latte. Surprisingly I wasn't expecting much because it's a basic flavor mix but they made it just right! You can tell the coffee is quality, and the balance of milk, cinnamon and vanilla was perfect. read more

Cute lil coffee shop with a convenient location at the barracks, so you can do some shopping and get a snack and coffee :) I order an iced matcha latte and the German fry burrito, and both were delicious. My sister is a fan of this place; and, as I was in town for only a couple days to visit her, she HAD TO take me here. We love books and coffee so what better way to spend time together than drinking amazing cups of Joe with muffins and BOOK?! As soon as I walked in, I smelt cozy vibes. My eyes rolled over to the lemon poppyseed muffins out on display and I knew right away - LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT. With that, I got their gingerbread latte. It was like Christmas spirit in a mug. Towards the end, the drink got a bit *too* sweet so I asked for another shot of espresso! My sister got their cinnamon vanilla latte which was quite yummy too! I love this spot! This coffee shop is definitely going to be my "go to" spot in 2022. It's a great place to read, study, or hang out. The seats are comfy and I really enjoy the vibe. The staff is super friendly too, and the coffee is delicious! I got the Cinnamon Vanilla Latte and it was amazing. We also tried Tropical Harmony smoothie and it was sooo tasty. A solid place to grab a cup of Joe! Would recommend if in Barracks Shopping Mall. I have been at the law school for 3 years, so it is a little bit embarrasing weighing in on Greenberry's so late. But after years of passing the place by, I finally decided to try their coffee out when me and a friend decided to meet there to study. While not the largest coffee place around and a little louder than most, Greenberry's is a staple of the law school and it is in a very convenient location if you study or work on UVAs North Grounds Campus. Inside you will find a seating area that is quite comfortable with leather chairs, although seating is a little cramped given the number of chairs Greenberry's has tried to squeeze in. As for the food and coffee, the menu isn't too different from many of the other coffee places I have visited before. But Greenbery's seems ahead of the game in some of its unique coffee options: one in particular is its Nitro coffee. I tried for my first time on my past visit, and I was really impressed with it. If I visit Barracks again, I will definitely check out Greenberry's again. read more

Yummy coffee and sandwich shop in the historic Barracks Rd shopping center. Usually good parking within a short walking distance or right outside. You'll find tables outside under the shade or inside which almost has a library feel to its decor. You order at the counter and I ordered a roasted Turkey, bacon, lettuce and tomato with Mayo. It didn't look like much but it was so good!! Bacon was nice and crunchy, lettuce was fresh and bread was yummy. Wish it was cut in half but it tasted awesome none the less. No sides with it and it's $10. The staff seemed stressed when I stepped up to order but they must have been having a bad day so I totally understand. Came out quick in a paper bag to go. read more

This is not a review on the coffee. Not a friendly place. Popped in to get a little bit of work done before my flight. Got a sparkler and their system was down and so I couldn't get a receipt of any kind, paper, digital, nada. They have like 1 outlet in the entire place, which is near the restrooms, I asked one of the staff members if I could move a table and chair over to it and they said it was fine. Later another worker told me I had to move because I was blocking storage, I mentioned to her another worker said I could work here and she seemed to get an attitude when I said that. It just seemed like from start to finish it was something during this visit I think this is my 2nd or 3rd 1 star review in my life. I'll caveat this review with the fact that I've only gotten black coffees of different types here, I can't speak to the food or milk based drinks. The coffee tastes like sludge. Either they're using a roast that's waaaay too dark or they just don't clean their machines frequently enough. I suspect it's the latter, because I too have neglected coffee machine hygiene and know the taste well. A shame because I'd rather support a smaller business than Starbucks when at Barracks Road. read more

The Salted Caramel Nitro is a game-changer. My friends in college used to tease me that I was a fan of "coffee drinks" rather than coffee since I tend to gravitate to lattes, frappes, and macchiatos that are creamy and sweet. The idea of drinking coffee black was unthinkable to me. If that's you, you'll love the nitro. It is the only coffee product that I have ever had black in my life, and it was pretty much perfect. Greenberry's is kind of an interesting spot! The way they're laid out seems a bit like they must be a national chain, but in fact their original location is the one at Barracks Road! They have recently been looking to grow globally through franchises, though. The staff at Greenberry's was super nice and friendly and also the BLTs are pretty delicious! Otherwise, regarding their coffee program, I think it's alright. I haven't tried too much, and what I've had I've enjoyed, but the taste profile of the coffee didn't necessarily wow me the way a couple other local roasters do. I do like the interior, it was clean and not cramped, and there was plenty of seating while not losing a sense of coziness. I'd definitely visit again, if I was in barracks and felt like dropping in somewhere to sit down with a coffee, but I wouldn't really go out of my way to visit Greenberry's just for the sake of it. read more

I ordered a small latte and asked for almond milk. I do understand that non dairy milk has an upcharge. What I did not expect was an upcharge of $1.35. I think that is ridiculous. I am a vegan and know that non dairy costs more to source but over 1.00 upcharge seems like price gouging. The latte itself had a decent amount of cinnamon but was not filled up. So I had an over $7.00 latte with not the full amount in the cup. I will definitely never go back and spread the word to my vegan and non dairy drinking friends to avoid this place. read more

Overall has a nice ambience and good natural light. Be warned however that there is only one outlet and it is off in the corner of the shop so it is difficult to study/do work. I bought a blueberry muffin and noticed it is at least 30% smaller than the one I bought last week. Price, however, did not go down. Nearly $5.00 for a small muffin. Love the coffee! Not a long wait and friendly staff. The raspberry truffle latte is phenomenal and very creative. The inside is a little crowded, but seating is still comfortable and clean. A friend of mine decide it would be cool to enjoy charlottesville lovely outdoor weather by enjoying some iced coffee. She suggested Greenberry's since it was a local brand. I originally wanted to try the coffee but then saw that they had a nice selection of loose teas. They were kind enough to brew my tea and pour it over ice. Overall my experiences was awesome.Its definitely similar to local starbucks or a bookstore style coffee shop. Ah, Greenberry's, I love you so! What a lovely coffee shop! I went to a long 13-week course in Charlottesville back in 2013 and GB's became a staple for me. I visited GB's to study and to enjoy delicious coffee, tasty sandwiches and lovely baked goods. I do not drink regular milk and GB's has the option of both soy and almond milks. What a treat! My favorite drink is the raspberry truffle latte (with almond milk)! It is SO good. I have never had anything like it at any other coffee shop. Every time I am in Charlottesville, I stop in multiple times to get my latte fix. The staff is always very friendly and welcoming and very expedient with orders. It is a much better experience than going to a Starbucks! They even have vegan cookies for all of my vegan friends out there! Parking can be a problem and sadly, a guy backed into my car last time I was there but that won't keep me from going back. Such a great place in Charlottesville! I wish we had one in Ohio! read more
