First of all, I am so happy that there is a healthy spot in this area. IT IS NEEDED!! Second, Greenbar is a total vibe! Fresh food, beautiful spot, and kind staff. It does not get much better than that. I tried the crispy shrimp bowl. It was delicious. It wasn't quite as filling as some of the other bowls I have had from other spots, but still very good. My hubbs had the citrus salmon bowl and loved his. He felt full with his bowl and side of bread. Overall, this spot is a win and I am so happy they have opened in their location. I randomly found out about this place in a group that I'm in on FB. I LOVE the fact that we have healthier eating options in this area AND that this locale is owned by a person of color. *Insert Jay Rock voice* win win win win win! Anywho, located off of Swan Road in a plaza, not especially easy for me to see while driving through. It is pretty quaint and inviting on the inside. The menu had varying options from the 'passion bowl' that is curated, and of course a make your own. Prices were comparable to other salad locations. On this date, I got the Grilled Chicken Pesto Bowl. It comes with spinach (I added quinoa), cherry tomatoes, garlic broccoli, sweet potatoes, pesto, and shaved parmesan. It also comes with a roll. All of the ingredients were fresh, and you received a healthy portion. The sweet potatoes weren't under or overcooked, nor was the broccoli. The pesto dressing was awesome, and I wish I would have gotten more. It was really filling. Oh and the roll, which at most salad places is an afterthought, was good too. It had a nice sweet taste similar that you may have gotten at the Roadhouse. Super happy that I was able to try this place out, and I will def be returning to get my fill. read more

I stopped by for lunch after leaving UPS next-door. There was one person ordering when I arrived, another waiting to order. I will say the ordering process took quite a while, because there was only one person working the counter at the time. I ordered the crunchy kale, cabbage, and shaved brussels sprouts bowl, topped with shrimp, sweet potato, candied mixed nuts, bacon and a boiled egg. The brussels sprouts were not shaved. The pieces were too large and hard for me to eat, so I ended up taking them out of my salad. The shrimp was seasoned nicely, and the sweet potato had a nice crunch to it. I enjoyed my salad! It was very tasty. I was taken aback by the $26 cost considering I did add extra shrimp. I still thought that was a bit high. I was so excited that this place was black owned and had healthier options than alot of places in the area, but things changed at the counter. I've supported at least 5 times and today I walked out and said I'll never be back. It's a high turnover always a new worker who doesn't know what they are doing and you are met with attitude and even adding one simple olive to your salad is an upcharge. One day I'm charged for bread the next its included like the menu says. It's nerve wrecking and already overpriced. First time here I got the Kale Caesar Bowl* and I love the portions and the proportion of each ingredient. The dressing was supposed to be cilantro, but I didn't really taste it and maybe because I love a lot of cilantro, and it just wasn't enough cilantro taste for me. The ladies behind the counter were prompt, and readily took my order and prepared it. The bread was definitely freshly made and soft though I wish it was a little bit more sweeter. First off...I really want to give this place 1-star so that I can keep it to myself, but let me be honest with y'all. OMG! There's a GREEN AND DELICIOUS RESTAURANT in the area. Now...it is a bit out of the way, but I'll gladly make the voyage to this restaurant again soon! I had the salmon with the kale mix (kale, cabbage, and Brussel sprouts). I also added tomatoes, feta, and cucumbers, which totaled approximately $20.00. I did add an 18% tip on top of that. I reduced a star because I placed a pick up order of salad 45 mins ahead of time while receiving services at Herbal Infusions... when I arrived, I wasn't sure who I should approach for my online order. Since there two customers ahead of me, I patiently waited only to find out my order was not fulfilled. So I wanted a few minutes, which was okay for today since I wasn't in a rush. I noticed this place one of the last times I was over in the shopping center, I decided to stop by this time after leaving UPS. Honestly couldn't even tell they were open, as it wasn't very bright inside. There was one person ordering when I walked in so I looked at the menu while he finished up. I will say the idea of the make your own salad bar is great, but the price not so much. I did the build your own, initially wanting to get the salmon, but the girl working said it's only 4 pieces at $2 extra. The salmon pieces I saw weren't looking great to begin with so I went ahead and tried the chicken. Very small pieces of diced chicken, I actually don't remember tasting it. I was quite thrown off with the fact that it's also an extra $1.50 just to add cheese, CHEESE. But you can get bread, croutons or tortilla strips (I believe) added for no extra cost. I got kale and jasmine rice, chicken, sweet potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower and the cilantro Caesar dressing w/ croutons. My bowl was actually good, the cauliflower pieces being my favorite part. The food here is AMAZING!!!! I've had the citrus salmon bowl twice! From the flavorful lemon garlic salmon, jasmine rice, sweet potatoes, black beans, and the consistently fresh salad toppings.....a fantastic tasty healthy meal!! All of my favorite foods all in one bowl - it doesn't get any better than this! Ohhhhh and the dressings are out of this world!!!! I believe it's the lemon balsamic vinaigrette....my goodness....a perfect combination adds a zing of added flavor. The crispy shrimps are really good too! The shrimps are huge - the panko breading has herbs in it too! Reggie (with two G's he joking told me) waited on me and put together not only an amazingly healthy meal but an amazing experience. Reggie was personable, asked me what I'd like, and gave suggestions. What he put together was a "Harry Met Sally" moment! You know, "I'll have what she's having!" Everything was fresh, the restaurant was clean and inviting with plenty of spaces to eat. At the time I ordered my "experience" there wasn't any bread available. No biggie. First time I ordered here it was through a delivery service and was very disappointed. So I decided to give it another chance and I can't stop coming in. The place is clean and the ambience is chill. Veggies are always fresh and chicken perfectly marinated (not overdone with spices) specially because its "healthy eating" you don't need much. They give you 2 containers of dressing which is a lot! I didn't particularly like that after spending $15 on a salad, it's an additional $.75 per each added item(3 no charge -after, $.75). Their menu allows to you build your salad by selecting your own items, or you can chose from a pre-selected menu of salads. I ordered the Kale Caesar salad and it was amazing. The salad had great taste and it was slightly different because the dressing had cilantro in it. Greenbar is a new healthy alternative place to eat in Fort Washington! Woo hoo! I've been here twice and had the shrimp and salmon rice bowls which were delicious and fresh. You can select Jasmine or brown rice. My mom had a shrimp and quinoa bowl. They have interesting toppings like pickled red onions which kicks it up a notch. I was hungry both times so sorry no pics. Love the food, hate the service. I placed my order online for pickup and noticed an option to tip. At first glance, this was odd because they aren't delivering the food. Then I noticed a section to list your car's color, make and model. Now the tipping makes sense. Since they are bringing my food to the car, I have no problems tipping them. My food is scheduled to be ready in 1 minute, so this should be quick.. I parked directly outside of the front door to make it easy for the worker. I see the tall, thin male bring a bag to the front and I assume that it is mine and that he will bring it to me directly outside of the door. Nope, he placed the bag on the shelf along with another. I thought that maybe he was going to grab more bags, so I waited a little longer. Instead, he began assisting their next customer. OK, cool, I tipped for nothing, but whatever. As I go in, to pick up my bag, he looks over and I put my hand up to acknowledge that I am grabbing my order. The young lady that was closer to me never looked up and the tall thin guy just turned his head as if I was never there. In PG County, customer service is AWFUL. I do not blame these two young workers, instead, I blame the management. Teach your employees to greet customers as they enter. And stop requesting tips if you are not going to provide a convenient service. read more

Update 01/30/2022: I went back to Greenbar today to follow up on my previous order. I explained that a few extras that I added (shrimp and sweet potatoes) were left out of my salmon bowl. They were very kind and apologetic about the mistake. They gave me another bowl at no additional charge, and added a little extra salmon for the inconvenience. I enjoyed this meal and I'm glad they demonstrated great customer service. Thumbs up on the Citrus Salmon Bowl and the Chicken Pesto Bowl. Glad there's a good Black owned salad bar in the area. I'm definitely going to keep Greenbar in my regular rotation! 01/29/2022: This is my second time trying Greenbar. I enjoyed the chicken pesto bowl the first time I went, so I decided to go back and try something else. I placed an order online for pick up. I got the the citrus salmon bowl and added extra shrimp and sweet potatoes to the order. I picked my order up around 6:20 pm and then went on to run a few errands before heading home. I'm annoyed because I paid extra to add shrimp and sweet potatoes, and they left both out of my bowl. They didn't even include any cutlery in the bag. The only thing they did do right was hold the candied nuts. Unfortunately, I couldn't go back to get the extras that I paid for because they closed at 7:00, and I didn't get home until about 7:20. The salmon bowl was ok, but they could've added a bit more salmon, considering they definitely put more chicken in my pesto bowl the first time I went. Needless to say I'm dissatisfied with this experience. If you pay extra for something you expect to get what you paid for. It's disappointing because I actually had a good experience the first time I went, but I ordered in person then. They've only been open about a month, so I'll give them some grace, but there's room for improvement. I won't write them off, but I am going to go back tomorrow and talk to the manager on staff. Very limited "organic" drink selection. I got the crispy shrimp and the shrimp were flavorless.
