I am late in writing this review, since we stayed in the winter, but my experience stuck with me, and I am still able to say that this is my favorite place to stay, anywhere. We got a beautiful and immaculate deluxe room. There was not a speck of dirt, chip of paint, or wrinkle in the bedspread to be seen. Everything worked properly, and can I say it again - it was so clean! I walked around without shoes and had no qualms about leaving anything on the floor. The bed was super comfortable, with so many pillows and a cozy spread. The fireplace threw lots of heat, so we were never cold. The whirlpool tub was a great amenity and was in good position to the fire, bathroom, and television. The staff were all excellent, and we had no problems with our stay. It was also very affordable, even for an upgraded room. read more

Location: Close to has station, restaurants and shoppes. 15-min ride to the ski area. Rooms: we loved our bed (firm), the sheets and pillows. There is a Keurig in the room. I enjoyed the toiletries. We simply loved this hotel. We decided it's time for a weekend escape and booked it last minute. It's probably not the cheapest of options in the Stowe area during the ski season, but luckily were already in April with a few good deals on offer. I used to travel a lot and managed to develop a hotel "allergy", where nothing ever seems properly clean etc. Thankfully, this one was a breeze. The hotel is very well maintained and the old American decor is simply beautiful. Our room was cozy and the bed was extremely comfortable. The only thing we did not manage to figure out was the heat - despite the low temperatures outside the room was a sauna at night. The temp controls didn't seem to work and the vent was off. Possibly floor heating, but it didn't seem to be the case to us. It improved the second night. Now, if you visit the inn be sure to reserve some time for breakfast. It's not free, but you will not regret it. I think we lost at least 30 minutes trying to have a little taste of all the goodies! This is not your ordinary continental breakfast. Sure, you get your hot and cold buffet (very good eggs and bacon) along with a la carte options. But their cakes, mmm.... I am still dreaming about that maple syrup glaze sponge cake. We didn't ask if the cakes were baked in house, but the selection was comparable to a local bakery! The donuts, the scones, the tarts, the croissants and even a gluten free crumble (with delicious strawberries and rhubarb). All of it exquisite. They also have a selection of local Vermont yogurts - try the maple syrup one, we ended up buying a whole big tub in a local shop. The hotel staff was most helpful and friendly. On the morning of our check out, instead of being simply kicked out, the gentleman at the reception desk offer us a coffee to go and stated that their spa and pool services are still available to us until the end of the day. Overall it's a cute little ski town with a lot of places to visit from restaurants to breweries, wineries and...Ben & Jerry's factory only 10 minutes drive from the hotel! They do tours with complimentary tastings for $4/pp (so worth it!). Nothing else to add, we simply MUST go back! read more

My first visit was this year and I'll return! I can't think of anything but good thoughts so all the pro's are below: -I thought the room rate was very reasonable. -centrally located, Mobil across the street w/ great selection of green mountain coffee. -VERY clean hot tub, brand new sauna and a heated outdoor pool. -nice gym that has everything you need. -rooms are small but clean and everything you need for two heads. I had drinks at the bar and I'm disappointed I didn't eat here. The bartenders provided some good conversations and laughs with good people around the bar. read more

Bf and I stayed here for a long weekend last year. We had a room in the Mansfield house. Huge four poster bed, two person jacuzzi in the same room, gas fireplace and utter and complete privacy. Ahhhh! If you aren't a snowbunny, I feel like there really isn't much to do in Stowe, and since it was May when we went (most fabulous cheap rooms during this time of the year-off season!), there was no snow, so there was even less to do! But, it poured almost all weekend and we found ourselves insanely happy to just sit in the hot tub in our gorgeous room, drink wine and watch Sex and The City DVD's like they were about to self-destruct. this was one of the few places we've stayed where we felt we were able to completely relax. The place was clean, comfortable and quiet even though it is rather large. The Deluxe rooms are huge, beautiful and welcoming. And there is plenty to do on the Inn property no matter what the weather is like in Stowe. There is a pool, a fitness center, a restaurant, a game room with a pool table and arcades, gorgeous grassy grounds (in the back!), ample parking, massage and spa packages, and sauna. I don't have a ton to say about it (since we spent the whole weekend in the hot tub . . .) but let's just say I was really happy with it. And I'm not an easy girl to keep happy. I absolutely plan on returning. read more

We needed to get out of Dodge for a long weekend and couldn't have made a better choice than the Green Mountain Inn. We stayed in a classic room that overlooked the pool (with it's own patio) and were delighted at how pleasant the inn is. Great location, very comfortable bed, and a classic slice of what makes Vermont so pleasant. The breakfast, as is well-known, is outstanding, and while my wife had a massage on Saturday morning, I shot out with my mountain bike to Cady Hill and got in some relaxation my way. Being able to wander in and out of the location in downtown Stowe made it very convenient, and the front desk staff were all delightful, helpful (providing a local map and directions), and friendly. We'll happily head back at some point - next time we'll up the room and get the jacuzzi and fireplace! read more

If you're thinking of booking, just do it. It's exactly what you think it's going to be. Great location, homey rooms, comfortable bed, well-managed, with thoughtful touches throughout. As you'd expect, the heated pool + hot tub is pretty damn nice. We were in the Mill House and would highly recommend. Shout out to Lynne at the front desk as well! A few nitpicks since a place this nice should nail all the details, right? Bath products are sub-par, and the tiny soap dime is for toddler-sized people only. Shower is also really small--even for one person, and if you're in the Mill House there's a good chance you were hoping for a two-person shower; don't worry, jacuzzi fits two. Game room is also struggling a bit, and nickel-and-diming guests (literally) seems a bit odd. Is the 20-year-old arcade game really a key revenue stream? No, but really: book here. read more

I stayed here last night and am writing this review from my room in the annex now. The rooms are spacious enough and the bed very comfortable - I actually slept through the night last night which is rare in a hotel for me. This is a business visit, so I'm not paying for the hotel, but I've heard it's pretty expensive and I'm not sure why - except for the location - which is gorgeous. The amenities are the same I'd get in most hotels, but in cheaper hotels the iron is newer and the hair dryer more powerful. I ordered poached eggs at breakfast and they left alot to be desired (tasted of vinegar and were overcooked). The buffet looked nice, but didn't have much if you wanted a healthy breakfast (hence my order of eggs). I did not however experience the dinner at the hotel because we went out into town to find someplace to eat. Overall a nice place to stay if you can get a deal, but certainly not on my list of top hotels. read more

We did not take full advantage of our stay at the Green Mountain Inn, so I can't tell you about the food at the restaurant. However, the inn is in a very convenient location at the crossroads of the town. Going up to the mountain is a straight shot. Hotel is very clean, and public areas are well maintained. The room was very small, but had a comfortable bed. The bathroom was long and narrow, so only one of us could be in there at a time. I would definitely stay here again if in the area. read more

I absolutely love the Green Mountain Inn! My fiance and I have stayed here twice in total and can't wait to go again! Rooms: We have stayed in a classic room and a luxury room before and both are great values. The beds are immensely comfortable, and to be honest I'm amazed they have even more deluxe options because our luxury room was pretty awesome! It featured a gas fireplace which we adored and used frequently, and sitting in our jacuzzi that opens up to the room and the fireplace was absolutely divine. When we entered, there was a cute little note welcoming us back to the Inn with chocolates. Cleanliness is top notch, and there are adorable little old fashioned details throughout the Inn and in the rooms that we love. Very New England. Service: Can't ask for more. SO helpful and friendly. They also have Amenities: Could say this is the best part, if there is one part we could pick??? LOVE the heated pool that is open year round, and since we last visited they have renovated and added an outdoor hot tube right next to it which is glorious. They also have an indoor hot tub in the spa/gym area. It's just so decadent and luxurious. THIS is vacation. Cost/Price: Quite reasonable. ~$190/night for a luxury room with a fireplace and a jacuzzi?? Can't get better than that in Stowe or around the country. The first time we stayed we also included a breakfast package which I highly recommend, their breakfast is amazing. Restaurant: The Whip is the official restaurant and then breakfast is served near the main lobby. I recommend both. Breakfast is a great value with continental and hot buffet options. The hot buffet also includes a choice a la carte item and drinks including coffee and juices. Delicious and a great way to start a day of skiing. We also love the Whip - the food is solid (American food, steaks and such) and the drinks are yummy. We love sitting at the bar. Unfortunately they no longer have my favorite drink from my last visit the Hot Buttered Rum, but hopefully they will bring it back at some point. Location: Almost across from Town Hall and the Visitor's Center, in Stowe Village and at the bottom of the mountain from the Stowe skiing resort. It's a great middle location where you can easily get to skiing using the shuttle but also explore the Village and reach hiking trails. *Advice to visitors of Stowe: rent a car. The Shuttle only runs during the daytime and only certain stops so if you're going out to dinner or something you'll want some accessible transportation. Uber and cabs aren't easy to come by around here. read more

3/26/10 - 3/28/10 we had a gorgeous luxury room. huge king size canopy bed. huge jacuzzi right near the bed. fireplace. large bathroom with large shower. very clean. nicely decorated. desk area. large closet. fridge. everything you could need. a bit far from the highway. but easy to get to. staff was friendly. never used housekeeping or any of their other amenities. the restaurant - the whip - is supposed to be good. it was $189 per night plus a ridiculous amount of taxes/fees. loved it. perfect for a new england long weekend. would love to stay again but for this kind of trip and where we went would have been better to stay closer to an entrance for 89, and/or in burlington. read more

We loved our week at the Green Mountain Inn! It was our first time here, but we will definitely go back. It was in the perfect location, close to shops and restaurants. It is not too far from skiing either, and price was pretty on par with other lodging options nearby. We loved our room! Everything was very clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed the fireplace in our room, used it every evening. One of our favorite parts was the tea and cookies in the afternoon. All the cookies were delicious, and the tea and cider were the perfect way to warm up after a chilly day outside. The heated pool and hot tub were also a lot of fun. I never thought I would have the chance to swim outside in the snow. If there were anything we could add it would probably be a microwave in the room. It would make a quick breakfast in the morning before skiing more convenient. I tried requesting one, but never heard back. Ultimately, we really enjoyed our stay. I totally love this place! My husband and I visited Stowe for a weekend to do some skiing and stayed here..we were not disappointed. Our room was very comfy and homey and had a nice little deck to stand out on and watch the snow fall. Anything you need is right around you so it's a great location. We stayed at the GMI for 3 nights for a ski getaway. It is located at the base of the main street where all of the shops and restaurants are which is fairly close to the mountain. That was a plus. When we first walked into the lobby, it felt like we had stepped back in time to the 1800s (in a good way), quaint and charming. The staff was very helpful with recommendations on where to eat and visit. Our "luxury room" had a huge jacuzzi bath and fireplace in the main room. Yes, the tub was in the room, not separated; it was a little odd at first but was convenient after a day on the slopes. The room was clean and the housekeeping staff did a great job keeping it that way each day. The room itself felt a little dated but decorated well to fit with the quaintness of the rest of the inn. Overall, we really enjoyed our time there and would recommend it to others. read more

The Green Mountain Inn is a fantastic hotel with old world charm and modern day luxury. My fiancé and I stayed here Wednesday-Saturday and were both blown away by our experience. Trust me when I say that that both the professional and Yelper photos do not do this place justice. As soon as you walk thru the door you fee like you took a step back in time. The dark wood, classic 19th century New England architecture and sophisticated decor take you back to a bygone era. The grounds are well maintained as well and the entire property makes you feel at home. The location couldn't get any better. Located right in the heart of Stow Village, you can walk to several restaurants or enjoy a cup of coffee on the front porch rocking chairs while watching Stow pass you by. Oh, and what's better than coming back from a day outdoors to complimentary cookies, tea and lemonade in the lobby?! The check in process was great, with the receptionist providing us with lots of helpful info and tips on the local area (much of which we already knew thanks to Yelp). We reserved a standard room and were totally impressed. The rooms are huge! They have walk in closets, nice bathrooms, luxurious four post beds, and Samsung TVs hung on the wall. Plenty of channels to choose from. Most importantly, the rooms were clean. The pool area was a blast as well. Despite a full list of plans in the area, we made time to spend a few hours poolside while enjoying ice cold beer and frozen cocktails from the poolside bar. The pool water is warm and the hot tub is hot. There's also a ping pong table and bag toss game on the lawn. The fire pit at night was a blast. Grab a drink from the Whip, a s'mores packet from the front desk, an Adirondack chair and you're good to go! Make sure you get there early - seats are limited! The entire staff, from the reception to the housekeeping to the bar tenders were all first class. Very welcoming and friendly during our entire stay. We will absolutely come back in the winter for a ski trip. The Green Mountain Inn and town of Stow definitely deserve to be in your upcoming vacation plans - I genuinely trust that you will not be disappointed. read more

What a maze. Of course we ended up with the room all the way on the corner in the other building. There's a nice 5 minute walk to exit the hotel. If you want to go to the gym or pool. They are also in another building. This does not make sense when you have too walk thru the cold winter air to go to the outdoor heated pool (only open from 5 to 9pm). This was a nice feature to have. However it was not connected to the indoor jacuzzi. You would have to walk thru the gym and changing room to get to this. Also the game room is filled with old games and costs money to use. The biggest plus was the bed. This was super comfy. We also liked the 4 pm tea and cookie time. They also put out board games to pass the time. The heating in the room made a lot of noise like someone was trying to come in. The hot water took a long time to get to the right temperature. The shower however sounded like it was on its last leg. The upgraded room did have a nice fireplace and big tv but no free breakfast. The staff was nice. read more

My boyfriend and I have stayed here twice and we love it. We stayed in a luxury room equipped with jacuzzi tub and fireplace, it was perfect. The room was clean and cozy, we would have been content staying in our room all weekend! There are lots of yummy restaurants in the area, including the Whip which is right downstairs in the Main building - I had a delicious turkey dinner. Everyone at the Inn is super friendly, from the front desk clerks to housekeeping. I've had the joy of staying here twice, once when my wife and I had our wedding here (and subsequently had a room for after the festivities) and then my wife surprised me by bringing me back for my birthday recently. Both times I really can't say enough nice things. The rooms are immaculate and richly accommodated. The food, whether you're grabbing a quick breakfast or stopping into The Whip restaurant is delightful. It's location is idyllic, thanks in no small part to the nearby shops and services, including a massage parlor just a few doors away. The bathtubs were a highlight both times. As a taller individual I rarely get the chance to stretch my legs out in a tub, so any chance I get is always welcome. Another highlight on our second visit was the heated swimming pool. This was in March, when there is still snow on the ground. But going to the outdoor pool and swimming in absolute comfort while there's snow all around you is an unique experience that I can't recommend enough. They always say you get what you pay for, and this place proves its value. It's not cheap but it's well worth it. read more

The Inn is actually several buildings clustered across about a 1/4 mile property. Our room was small and dark, but quaint. The door opened directly to the parking lot, motel style...but there's nothing motel about this place. The staff is professional, low-key and super helpful. We asked about other rooms, and we ended up moving into the Mansfield House. A guy named Christian couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating. Our new room had a huge four-post king bed, a seating area, enormous hot tub that opened into the room, and a gas fireplace. It also had a beautiful bathroom an a foyer area with hooks, drawers and a closet...perfect for a ski vacation. Drinks and apps at the Whip were terrific, along with A+ service. Try the wings, pesto veggie flatbread and the artichoke dip. All great après dishes. The location right in downtown Stowe is great. Lots to do in walking distance. There's a shuttle to skiing, but we drove. Only about 10 minutes. The only drawback is the separate building thing. It was -20 this morning; would have been nice to get coffee without freezing. Ditto going to and from the hot tub. The game room is small and musty smelling. Lack of a central lobby makes it a little disjointed. Still, the GMI is a great place to stay, and kid friendly. read more

The service here was so horrible we cut our vacation short to get out. My wife and I checked in on a Monday evening and planned to check out the following Saturday. We didn't need our room serviced the first full day (Tuesday) so we left the privacy sign on the door. When we got back to our room late in the day housekeeping had left a big plastic bag in front of our door with what looked to be towels, we never opened it. My wife and I were extremely annoyed because it was the sloppiest way to provide service to guests. She called the front desk to explain that we didn't need the room to be serviced that day and wouldn't want to use towels that had been left sitting in the hallway unattended where anyone could interfere with them. She made it clear that we appreciated what they were trying to accomplish with the gesture but we didn't want it. In addition, our particular building The Mansfield was full of workmen laying new carpet that week and lots of people who were not guests were in and out. What is important here is the principle of giving guests' personal security a lot more thought and consideration. We booked massages at the front desk Tuesday morning and when we turned up for them on Thursday the spa said they had no appointments booked for us. It was appalling, our entire day had been ruined because we cut short other things to be back there on time and nothing was even booked for us. The hotel manager Jewel contacted us and applied a credit to our hotel bill for the massages and apologized. Additionally, we put the sign on our room door on Wednesday and Thursday asking for service and we were completely ignored. By now all this was starting to look like retribution for the bag of towels we didn't want, and we were starting to feel like we were not wanted at the hotel, sounds paranoid but we don't discount anything. Thursday afternoon (immediately following the massage fiasco) my wife called the front desk and asked for the room to be serviced, told them we were going out and it would be a good time to come to the room. We got back more than 4 hours later and the room was STILL not serviced. At that point we decided to pack up and leave first thing Friday morning (a day earlier than planned). The way we had been treated the whole week was just disgusting. We paid extra to be staying in a luxury room and couldn't get basic services when we needed them, but the hotel was shoving towels down our throat when we didn't need them. We went to see Jewel Friday morning and informed her that our entire vacation had been ruined by the hotel and we were checking out. She apologized profusely saying that our room wasn't serviced because the front desk thought we didn't want service for our entire trip when my wife called about the towels outside the door. She never said anything close to that, we were staying for 5 nights, why would we say such a thing when we would need trash to be disposed of and tidying up to be done? What could possibly be unclear about the sign on the door requesting service for 2 days straight, including the phone call she made to the front desk explicitly asking for service Thursday afternoon? Maybe the staff had just decided to ignore us. I suggest that the owners hire some hospitality trainers to sort out the people who work there, because the front desk in particular don't care all that much. As for dumping the towels outside a guest's door, a polite note slipped under the door seems a far superior alternative. Other hotels and resorts we've stayed at have the good sense to not harass a guest with excess towels when they don't need service. Jewel applied a credit to our bill for one night in addition to the credit for the massages we never got. But it was all just too little, much too late. No amount of refunds could make up for a vacation ruined and cut short. The way our precious time had been abused by this hotel's incompetent staff is not an experience we will ever forget. read more

All was excellent. Splurged on 2012/13 XMAS/NewYears stay and was lucky enough to get dumped with snow. Early reservations made it reasonable enough for superb elegance and comfort. Very kind and attentive staff. Delightful stay in every way. Great to stay in the heart of such a quaint town, if not skiing every single day and keep your car in the private lot. Luuuuuved that outdoor/private heated pool. Had the double room with no fireplace. Bed was devine. Large and modern bathroom Didn't do dinner at eateries, but breakfast was tasty and convenient. Apres ski wine and afternoon tea was a major treat. We had a great experience as the schools were not in session, the hill at the local school had amazing sledding, within walking distance. (Also nothing to do with GMI, but i've experienced great VT slopes the exact weekends AFTER the MLK holiday and the Presidents' day holiday.) read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here last year in late summer early fall and loved it; in fact, I'm surprised I didn't review it. We got a room in the main building and I believe it was a corner room. It had a fireplace and jacuzzi. We were very happy with our stay and came back recently just a couple weekends ago (end of June). There were quite a few more people around this time, but it wasn't so bad. We had a corner room in the Mill House (I didn't realize there were so many buildings!) and had a jacuzzi and fireplace again. I love how they tuck away the mini fridge and the coffee and wine supplies and the fact that they *have* a bottle openers and glasses, because some places do not. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was easy to use (sometimes you get a shower and it's a total mystery how to get it going). It was really nice hanging out in the outdoor hot tub and the pool was soo warm I loved it. Still refreshing, not like bath water, but not cold either, even going from hot tub into pool. It was extremely pleasant. We also took advantage of the free s'mores supplies and the firepit. The front desk staff (medium height, glasses) was super nice and funny and the guy we checked in with (early 20s maybe?) was very pleasant as well. My only complaints are: the first time we stayed, the jets in our jacuzzi didn't work and the person manning the front desk in the late evening kind of just shrugged and had no idea what to do about it and this time, I noticed the bubbles being produced by the jets were grouping together in little pockets of yellow scummy foam. Not cute. There was a bit of a light yellow scum build up on one side of the tub that was easy to miss if you weren't looking for it. All in all though, we love love love it here and will absolutely be back. Super clean, courteous, convenient, love the pool, the location, and we hike nearby and see waterfalls down the road :) read more

Had Room 239, Very, Very Small. Bathroom was tiny also. The heat would not turn off so had to open the window. We had no room to open both of our suitcases and there was no desk to use our laptop. These are nothing like the pictures. Giving 2 stars due to staff and other amenities which were good. Breakfast was good also. If you choose to stay here, make sure you do NOT get the small rooms. I was disappointed by the room especially with the rate. read more

We had a beautiful family suite in the Mansfield house. Our room had a king bed in one room and 2 twins in the other. The bathroom was gorgeous and the fireplace made us wish it was winter! The check-in process was quick and friendly and there was plenty of parking plus free wifi. The inn is right in the middle of Stowe and within walking distance of restaurants, shops, coffee shops and bars. I would definitely recommend Green Mountain Inn! read more

I recently attended a boards review course in Stowe, VT. The course was based out of Green Mountain Inn. Green Mountain Inn is an adorable, cozy inn located on Main Street in Stowe, VT. The Inn is composed of different buildings and complexes and offers rooms and suites of different sizes. I stayed in a room in the main building and was pleasantly surprised to find a fireplace and a jacuzzi tub in my room. The Inn also offers an exercise room and a pool, neither of which I was able to take advantage of. The on site restaurant was okay. Big fan of the patio fire pit - my classmates and I spent our last evening on the patio by the fire pit making amores! Green Mountain Inn is a great place to stay if you're ever in Stowe! read more

What a positive surprise. I didn't expect much. It wasn't very expensive but was really nice hotel with awesome rooms and excellent location. We had a giant jacuzzi tub and suite which was a "basic room". Amenities and service was top notch. Loved the hottub and pool. read more

Stowe is one of my favorite spots in New England so I visit as often as I can. I almost always stay at the Green Mountain - it's clean, rates are reasonable, and it's in a great location. The hotel has a great breakfast buffet and be sure to check out the Stowe farmer's market if you're there on a Sunday! read more

I have stayed at the Green Mtn Inn many times. Another great experience. Heather and Kevin were able to move me into a room that was 30% less in price after my initial reservation and some juggling, which gave me some extra budget to walk across the street to Harrison's for a great meal! Always a great take! Thanks Heather and Kevin. I can't wait to stay in the Mansfield House with a date. They gave me a key and let me check out the in-room jacuzzi, fireplace and oversized shower! Thanks again, Heather and Kevin! My only recommendation. Stop charging 18% gratuity automatically for breakfast (you're shortchanging your service staff!), and offer some ala carte options (if I just want 2 scrambled eggs for $3 instead of a full meal and buffet) as well. Also, I was out at the fire pit last night. Seems a little early at 10pm on a holiday weekend to shut down. Why not leave it open until midnight? read more

This Inn was so nostalgic, in a good way. You could feel the history of the inn in its decor and architecture. I especially loved navigating the halls and finding hidden nooks that created peaceful lounging areas or viewing areas. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom fixtures were modern, so not to worry . . . Centrally located with great shops full of quality times in all price ranges, a good restaurant within the inn, more restaurants, coffee shops, and ice cream shops within a couple of blocks. There is also a very clean and modern laundromat and a post office nearby. I can only imagine how magical this inn must feel in the winter, but early summer might be better for some--slower paced and very walkable--walking path nearby. They have a frequent stay program that doesn't expire--I will keep my rewards card in a safe place! read more
