I'd love to give this place 4.5 stars, but alas, its getting a 4 from me. My boyfriend and I stayed at the Green Mountain Inn for a week in June 2016. We had a good time. When we arrived at the Inn we were greeted by a friendly guy who made our check-in process easy and stress free, so great start. When we got to our room we were very pleased! We got a luxury suite and it was gorgeous! It was wonderfully decorated without being over the top, we thought it was great! The jacuzzi tub in the room was great very spacious! The fireplace was nice but didn't get used by us. The pool is awesome! It's actually a heated pool, so many hotels say they have heated pools, but this one was actually heated and felt like bathwater! But the pool hours - not great, they need to have longer hours! The hot tub behind the locker rooms was a wonderful surprise! The restaurant, Whip, was delicious. A couple problems we encountered: - There was construction going on right outside out window, I wish we would have known that prior to arrival but whatever. - I went to the front desk to get a corkscrew, because I didn't know there was one in the room, and the night desk guy could not find one for me. He searched all the drawers, went to the restaurant, looked in the back office, etc. He didn't once tell me there should be one in the room, had he told me, I wouldn't have had to stay at the front desk for ten minutes while he searched. We wound out going to the gas station to buy one. No big deal but pretty annoying. - From our room the pool / restaurant was an outside walk, not a far walk by any means, but when its raining outside or you just got out of the pool and you want to get to your nice toasty room right away its a little uncomfortable to walk back to the room kinda cold and uncomfortable. - My boyfriend had trouble sleeping, maybe because the bed was super squishy (which i love), or because the little flame in the fireplace was lit all night, who knows. But not a great week of sleep for him. We would stay here again, but we would try to book our room in the main hotel and maybe bring a corkscrew with us... Also, we didn't have housekeeping clean our room at all, but they were always super friendly in the hallways! read more

Probably the best place to stay at Stowe. Very charming authentic inn feel. Outdoor heated pool after skiing, what more can you want? If you have an unlimited budget search no more. I would certainly stay here again unless I go up to Ski with the boys; who needs all that ambiance! read more

Beautiful spacious inn with serviceable staff, beautiful decor, comfortable bed, and amazing fireplace. The bathroom has a full size jacuzzi that comfortably fits two with plenty of wiggle room. The queen sized bed is amazingly comfortable, with overstuffed pillows and quilts. The electric start fireplace gave off just the right amount of warmth for the cold Vermont days and had the bonus of being easy to start for those of us that are not fireplace savvy. Housekeeping was always prompt and meticulous for us and the overall feel of the inn was comfy and tidy. The property has several styles of room, a heated pool with pool-side service in the warmer months, a small but fairly standard gym, and a small game room in the back. A perfect place to enjoy Stowe. Kudos to the staff for being so pleasant and knowledgeable and for the establishment for being a place that I would definitely come back to again and again. read more

Stayed at this beautiful inn during a weekend trip and we were definitely not disappointed. We stayed in the Peter love joy suite which was conveniently located in the main building on the 3rd floor. The room was very clean and quite spacious. We also were able to enjoy the heated pool which was so nice after a long day of skiing. We had a quick breakfast the inn offered. It was nothing special but was cheap and did the trick. I'd definitely stay here again, we loved it!! read more

Review for the breakfast only: food was pretty good, however hard to judge after finding a long hair in my corn chowder. Then when my eggs benedict came, guess what, they forgot the hollandaise sauce. Not once did they offer an apology. Overall not impressed after all the rave reviews. We just had a cocktail here, but it was very pleasant. The bar is very reasonably prices with some local VT spirits offered and lots of local beers. After getting your drink, you can stay in the bar or enjoy it on the front porch, overlooking quaint downtown, or in the historically charming library. Overall, a great place for a cocktail before heading out for the night. read more

Great Inn, friendly staff, the pool and hot tub were lovely. Cute game room for the kids. Our deluxe room was well appointed and worth the price. The location was perfect, central and lots of shops, with great food in walking distance. Dining at the Whip was convenient and the food was delicious. Would definitely return! Our only issue was that the TV had very poor reception and the multiple remotes were confusing. read more

Vacuuming during tea and when we were using the gym was comical. Being awakened each morning by a snow plow next door when there was no snow was the worst because it was 5:39 am. Staff absolutely no help. I do not recommend for a get away. read more

What a lovely little gem right on Main Street in Stowe! Well, "little" is maybe the wrong word- this is basically an enormous B&B with 105 rooms that's taken up a good chunk of Main Street after buying or building additional buildings and retail over the past decades. The ambiance is wonderful. My boyfriend and I stayed in a reasonably sized room with a queen bed. The keurig and mini-fridge were awesome and unexpected amenities that I didn't get at the resort I'd stayed at for double the price the previous night. Extremely clean, spacious bathroom, great body care products, and lots of fresh, clean towels. The bed was lovely- an antique four poster canopy bed with a handmade quilt. We had a great main street view from our room, and were very pleased with everything. Check in and check out were a total breeze, and everyone I met on the staff was very pleasant and helpful. read more

We went for a romantic long weekend. Unfortunately the weather was terrible and we didn't get to enjoy Stowe as we should have. The best part was our amazing room, lying in the jacuzzi tub and watching the fire and Red Sox on tv. The bed was comfortable, the shower was nice. Liked having a kuerig in the room. Could have used a microwave for guest use. The Whip was closed so we didn't get to try that out. Also suggest keeping the pool and jacuzzi open longer hours. We didn't seem to be able to hit the times just right. Overall though, nicest place I've stayed at. read more

A little late in posting this, but we really enjoyed our time at the Green Mountain Inn. We came at the peak of fall foliage last October, but never seemed part of the crowd. This is larger than your typical B&B or country inn, but the separate buildings give you that same feel, and the location in the heart of Stowe could not be better. The staff was personable and professional, and the rooms were great. The Whip (restaurant) was fantastic in an area full of great restaurants. We spent our first evening at the fire pit totally to ourselves. Absolutely no complaints. read more

The best location in Stowe, esecially if you are a non-skier . This small hotel with a classic New England atmosphere is situated right in the village of Stowe . Very close to grocery store, dining and walking trail. They offer many options for the rooms. My favorite is the suites in the building in the back. The outdoor pool is open year round and there is small fitness room and hot tub, no too fancy as for amenites compared to other hotels in town. There is ample and free parking , the lot could use some better lighting! Overall one of the best places to stay in Stowe. read more

We have been staying at the Green Mountain Inn for the last several years once or twice a season in both winter and summer months. Our latest visit (March 2012) was disappointing since previous visits were very positive. The location is very good and the room types are varied and would suit couples and large families. The rooms are large and we appreciated the upgraded flat screen televisions. We found the hotel not as well kept as previous visits (2010). Specifically the rooms weren't as clean as they seemed in the past and the furniture and fixtures seemed to be showing their age. At checkout we were surprised to find a house cleaning gratuity charge included for each day we stayed. Let's just say our room wasn't in need of any extra cleaning. As a frequent travelers we have never encountered this type of charge. And we generally leave a tip for the housecleaning staff in the room. Fortunately, when asked, the hotel promptly removed it. read more

We stayed at the GMI from 8/3/15 for a two night stay. Our stay was perfect from the moment we checked in! We stayed in one of their luxury rooms with a fireplace, jacuzzi, and with a king size bed! Our room was very clean and the staff was very friendly and gave us great tips on what to do in town. We also had massages from the Stowe village massage which were excellent. I would definitely recommend getting one of you come to town. Can't wait to come back and visit. read more

This place was beyond amazing. A hidden treasure in the midst of magical Stowe/Waterbury. Not only is the location awesome, the staff far exceeds the expectations you have when staying at an inn. The rooms were beautiful, and the hot tub plus fireplace were a definite treat after being in the blustery rain. You know a place is good when you actually take in a deep breath and let out a heavy sigh while driving away. We were given a frequent stay card upon our departure, and we fully intend on putting the card to good use. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We can't wait to see you again. read more

If I could give more than 5 stars! We decided last minute to stay in stowe after our camping trip got rained out. Very friendly staff, provided us with a nice cozy room, got it ready for us while we feasted on delicious burgers downstairs at the whip grill. Tea and cookies were nice. The staff provided us, as advertised, with disposable swimsuits for the pool and they were actually quite functional. Also came in a stylish vermont green trunks and a one piece for the lady. The hot tub and pool were heated and was a perfect way to wind down. We also hit up the game room where my wife proceeded to beat me at pool, air hockey and each arcade game we played. read more

I recently organized my family reunion in Stowe, VT. We all stayed at the Green Mountain Inn. We had 30 people, from Grandparents to great grand child, in 11 rooms. We were at the Inn for 3 nights and the weekend was truly enjoyable. Our event coordinator, Darcy, was helpful and accommodating. We had flexibility for our opening night dinner which was hosted in a private room - the meal and staff were great. The Inn allowed us to move the dinner time, at close to the last minute, and also provided a projector and screen for our traditional "year in review" slide show and the technology worked without a hitch. Through out the weekend the Inn staff/team was courteous and helpful on many fronts. I know that one of the cousins left some things in the room and the Inn forwarded everything at no charge. One night the security guard let us hang at the pool for an extra half hour - a big hit. For a family reunion, the facility is really close to ideal. The younger gang enjoyed the game room, and we all enjoyed the heated pool and large hot tub. A few even took advantage of the health club. As an added bonus, we all ate breakfast at the Inn each morning and the buffet is excellent. The home cooked feel and relaxed dining room is a perfect way to start a VT day. This is our 8th reunion event and both Stowe and the GMI were a success. read more

We didn't stay here, but just went for dinner after a recommendation from a local. The place was packed and a bit noisy; we were fortunate not to have to wait more than 10 minutes to get a table. I recommend reservations. We each had grilled seafood with great sauces and sides that although pricey, left us with a smile. Yum... If you're driving back into Stowe from Mountain Rd., this place is right in front of you when you stop at the only light in town. If coming to Stowe from Waterbury, it will be on your right at the intersection. read more

My girlfriend and I stayed here in late October and had a great time. You can't beat the location and the staff was very friendly. We had a classic room and although it was very comfortable, it was lacking a mini fridge which was slightly annoying. When you're staying in Stowe you'll be eating tons of great food so having a place to store your leftovers is a must! Also there is no r m service available, so no breakfast in bed. We enjoyed The Whip restaurant which is on site. There are also many good options close by. There is a fire pit by the pool which is Open until about 11pm. The front desk offers complementary s'mores kits which a nice touch. It's a great way to enjoy the night and meet other people who are staying at the inn. In all a great stay and we plan to come back next year! read more

Great place to stay, charming New England feel but beware- check out the service card ON THE BACK. You are being charged an ADDITIONAL 6 % for maid service- a stealth fee. An extra $15 on a $250 room. You can take the charge off at checkout- if you realize it's there, but they count on slipping it by amidst the taxes. We always tip maid service, and we almost did that on top of the charge. I suggest they pay their maid staff a living wage and be MORE UP FRONT WITH THEIR CHARGES. read more

Great place to stay in Stowe! It's beautiful, clean, and within walking distance to few shops and restaurants. Thoroughly enjoyed the ski and stay package-great pricing! We appreciated that the Green Mountain Inn was accommodating to our change in ski plans- it rained one day so we decided to stay and ski our last day in Stowe; check out was at 11 but the inn provided us with an access pass to the locker rooms, sauna, and jacuzzi before our ride back to PA. Only downside, the rooms were a bit small and loud at night. We could hear the tv's and talking in the rooms next to us. All in all wonderful place to stay at a great price and location. We stayed at the Green Mountain Inn in August 2013. It was our first trip to Vermont and we loved it! The Inn was comfortable, clean, and very cozy with a lovely gas fireplace. We walked to restaurants if we didn't feel like driving. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the daily breakfasts were delicious. We would definitely visit this Inn again and recommend it to anyone. read more

I was going to give 3 stars because the rooms are tacky and old. But I gave it 4 because the renovated bathrooms was a plus and the gym sauna jacuzzi pools are really neat. Staff is very friendly. At 4 they provide tea and cookies. Would come back. Don't pay more then 130$ /night. Free parking was a plus. Ask for the pool view side. I was unfortunate to view a dumpster while the restaurant was being renovated. read more

We recently stayed at the Green Mountain Inn in late February. This was our 3rd stay at the inn. This time, we upgraded and went for a luxury room in the Mill House, which had a jacuzzi tub and fireplace. It was amazing! We had previously stayed in the main building in standard rooms before (which are also wonderful, but no fireplace or jacuzzi tub), so this was a nice treat. I highly recommend one of these rooms if you want a romantic getaway or if you have children. We had our 4 month old baby with us and there was the perfect space for her pack n play and gear. Pros: -outdoor pool and hot tub area are wonderful. I unfortunately forgot my suit this time, but no worries, I'll just take a few in-room jacuzzi baths a day! -Location. It really is the best location in my opinion for Stowe. I also say this as a non-skier, but to be able to walk to the shops and surrounding restaurants in downtown, plus access the rec path easily, was huge for me. -The Whip. Delicious food, casual, cozy ambiance. Convenient to dine in or carry back to room. -Staff. Everyone was friendly that I came across. We called to ask if there was plastic cutlery available, as I had bought cheese but forgot a knife. They immediately offered to run a knife over and came within minutes. Thanks! A girl needs her cheese and wine. -Ambiance-a true Vermont, cozy experience. From the decor to the friendliness of the staff to the amenities, just a lovely vibe. Cons: -I don't have a lot of gripes honestly. Major first world problems here, but the main issue was probably the room temp in the Mill House. There was an older thermostat on the wall, but that wasn't functional. Then there was an A/C/Fan unit built in. We had to crack the window and run the fan most of the time, especially if we wanted to enjoy the fireplace. I didn't want to turn the fireplace off, because that's part of the whole vibe! But sometimes we had too, it was just too hot. -Wifi - while the Wifi is free and easy to connect to, the speed was extremely slow. This bothered my husband more than it did me, as he had to do a little work on our last day. I found it to be spotty...at times it was great, at times it was snail pace. -Only other minor issue was scheduling housekeeping. I was in the room a lot the first day, so getting a time to have them come was challenging. We finally just asked that they take the trash, replenish items etc...so they did, but only gave us some new shampoo and decaf only coffee. No new cups or towels. The next day, I was able to call and schedule a few hours in advance and they did a lovely job. But again with the decaf? Like I said, first world problems and would never deter me from staying there again :) Overall, we totally plan on staying here again. We are looking to make Stowe an annual tradition for our daughter, so Green Mountain Inn will be in the rotation for years to come! read more

Best place to stay in Stowe. Even the classic rooms are nice and well kept. I would recommend the deluxe or luxury rooms. Make sure to have breakfast in the main dining room. They make homemade bread every morning. You can buy loaves to take home at the front desk. read more

Recently stayed here and the guest service is fantastic. They are really helpful in finding things in the area to do and even offer smores packages to the kids. They have a hot tub and heated pool, as well as two great restaurants. They offer a lot for the price. If your visiting stowe I definitely recommend this hotel. read more

We stayed at the Green Mountain Inn the past few nights. We were headed skiing and the Stowe Mountain Lodge had a 5 night minimum during vacation week. We were only looking for a 3 night stay. It turns out we made a great choice in the Green Mountain Inn. We loved it! It was clean, quiet, and cozy, but still big enough to spread out. We had a 1 bedroom suite in the Mansfield House. Our biggest complaint would be more of a suggestion for them.... Because you need to walk outside from the Mansfield House to the main house where there is coffee and breakfast having in room coffee makers or Keurigs would be great! Other than that we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back. The location was great, there is a shuttle to the mountain, and plenty to do and walk to right in the center of town. We would highly recommend to anyone staying in Stowe. read more

Stayed at the Green Mountain Inn with my 13 year old daughter for a few days before she starts the school year. Beautiful location, staff are very attentive and responsive to any needs and issues that arose. Easy to relax in the well appointed room, pool, jacuzzi or just walk through town without feeling the stress of living by a big city! The entire team was great but especially Paul who not only goes out of his way with a smile to help with something but also takes a sincere interest in ensuring an enjoyable stay. We encountered a few issues during our stay but Paul was customer service A+ in resolving them in a smooth, quick and efficient manner and with a great sense of humor!! read more
