To start off this review, Amir and Dorothy are truly the best! They are the epitome of customer service and are some of the nicest car rental staff I've encountered. This is what makes a car rental place stand out - their staff and the excellent service they provide. Needed a rental car for our LA/Disneyland trip. I booked through booking.com and got a good deal for 3 days. Upon arrival to SNA airport, instructions were to call Green Motion for shuttle pickup. Pickup area is at arrivals near banner 6. Dorothy picked us up and was very sweet! She gave recommendations and was very helpful on the 3 min ride across the street to Atrium hotel where Green Motion was located. She said the best gas station to fill up was at the nearby ARCO so it wasn't as expensive as the one next to the hotel. Checking in with Amir was very smooth and he gave us 10% off McDonald's coupons at the one near Disneyland. No issues with the Dodge Caravan. Checking out was also very smooth and they let us leave our luggage in the front desk while we ate lunch around the area. When we got dropped off, I accidentally left my phone in the shuttle and after calling Green Motion back, Amir actually came back to give it to me! Wow I was SO grateful to him for that. Rented through Priceline for a trip up to Northern California & thought I was saving. Arrived for my 1pm reservation around 12 and didn't get assistance until 12:30 - there was only one person ahead of me but they were clearly playing their bullying tactics. The told the customers in front of me that they had to purchase insurance through them despite them having stated coverage through their credit card company. Their regard toward them was so rude - challenging them to get on the phone and find out they're wrong. Then I heard them charge them for an extra driver despite them stating their relationship as Father- Daughter. Website clearly lists extra driver charge should not apply in this instance. Then came the toll responder, fuel prepay, and roadside assistance speeches. Each time they kept insisting despite the customers refusing and would be so belittling to them in response. Finally I was helped & then told that my booking was not unlimited - despite is listing in three separate locations it was - but instead I was limited to 200miles as a local driver. Immediately I knew it wouldn't work & requested to cancel. They proceeded to say I couldn't cancel since I was already "checked-in". They qualified me being "checked-in" as sitting and waiting to be attended to. I pulled out my Priceline reservation & to my surprise my reservation was cancelled. I asked them to confirm and they acted dumbfounded... then some man came by and said oh yeah, i cancelled since I figured you wouldn't want to pay the mileage since you're a local. This tells me they know their information is listed as "unlimited" on Priceline only to charge customers more in person. Do yourself a favor and rent from the airport. The cost will be the same or $20 more but you will be treated fairly. Your deposit will be $200 (not $750), you will not be forced to pay for $28 daily insurance (but can elect for $18/day if needed), & will not be charged unknowingly. read more

Green motion gets zero stars as far as I am concerned. I put one star because you cannot do a post unless you add at least one star but as far as I'm concerned, they get no stars . Once you order your vehicle online. When you go to pick up your vehicle surprise there's a $700 security deposit for a compact vehicle.. but you don't have a $700 security deposit. You don't get the vehicle you pay for online and they fuck you out your money.. I contact green motion and they showed me no love ..I repeat I will constantly be going on social media telling the world how green motion is scamming people out of their money. HIDDEN COSTS! Upselling, and overall cash grab. For reference I travel a lot. Forcing you to purchase liability insurance? That was the start. If you don't rent a transponder and accidentally get on a toll road that has a listed fee of $2.35, you get charged $55 (Green Motion Fee + the toll) I attempted to go on line and pay the accidental toll based on the license plate and Green motion has it blocked so only they can pay the fee. DO NOT TENT FROM THIS COMPANY I've learned a valuable lesson, rent from the larger national companies. It might seem a little more expensive, but in fact you'll be saving money. read more

I booked a car rental through Priceline and paid in full, received a confirmation email and itinerary from Priceline within minutes that showed I have been paid in full, I have unlimited mileage, And free cancellation. Three nights prior to my trip, I received a call/voicemail and text from Green motion that they are now requiring an additional $750 deposit, I only have 200 miles a day and there would be a penalty to cancel now. I called Green motion immediately, and spoke with Youssef, who stated that it is their company policy to only provide 200 miles a day (even though they advertise as unlimited mileage online) and that I'm not going to be getting a refund and they will charge me a penalty for canceling. I then called Priceline who confirmed my original contract with the unlimited mileage, no cancellation fee and absolutely no mention of any additional charges, including a $750 deposit for renting with green motion. Priceline was actually very apologetic and said that they would be looking into the matter with doing business with green motion in the future. DO NOT and I repeat do not use green emotion. They are a complete scam and try to strong arm you and renege on their contract and word! read more

My ear was buzzing from the flight so I couldn't hear well and he started yelling at me! He gave very poor directions, when we booked the rental car from booking.com it clearly said SNA airport but it's not we had to take a shuttle to pickup the rental car and the guy who answered the phone did not say that he just keep saying go to pillar 6 to the stop light he didn't even say cross the street and when we get there call him again so he can send the shuttle what an imbecile! And when we called we called several times because no one was answering and then when the imbecile finally answered rudely told me to wait for the shuttle avoid this place at all cost the shuttle driver was a sweetheart though! read more

DO NOT RENT. THIS COMPANY IS SCAMMY AT BEST, CROOKS AT WORST. Even though they advertise a good price, you'll pay more in the end. In the Tampa FL location, this company refused to rent their car to you unless you paid for their overpriced extra insurance which takes the daily rental rate to 2x or 3x what you originally were promised. They required $300,000 property damage liability insurance which no one actually has. Most people then feel forced to pay for the extra insurance because they prepaid for the rental which is now non-refundable. I refused to play this bait and switch game and was left fighting with equally scammy car rental websites like economybookings.com and discovercars.com to get my money back. It's just not worth it since you'll pay a lot more than what's advertised anyways. Save yourself the trouble. read more

We had a great experience with green motion car rental which is just a little ways off site from the airport. It took a bit of time waiting for the shuttle but the rest of our experience was top notch. Everyone from shuttle drivers to customer service at front desk were so kind and friendly. They gave us a last minute free upgrade to a beautiful clean and big keep cherokee that was so great for our group of 5. The only surprise for us in cost was paying for the daily freeway pass - but they explained that we'd be charged a large service fee along with the use fee everytime we used the freeway without the fast pass. So we decided it was worth it. When we returned the car we were quickly taken back to the airport and right to our gate and sent off with the warmest goodbye. Thank you!!!! read more

I booked through Expedia and prepaid for the car rental. When I arrived I was told I only got 200 miles free of charge and had to pay an additional $750 in deposit. I tried using my credit card instead of my husband's who was listed as the driver and they said I couldn't pay with a different card. Expedia called them to see if they would allow the different card to be used and they said no, that we had to cancel and rebook. If we cancel though, we wouldn't get our money back according to Green Motion. They are false advertising and a total scam. read more

I had a great experience with green motion. I always follow a rule of thumb to book directly through a company and never a third party to avoid confusion or hidden fees. The prices are great and our car was brand new and had great mileage. The confirmation gave clear instructions on where to go after you land in SNA and the shuttle ride was great. We did wait a bit to check in and there is a $500 deposit that is refunded after you return the car. We made sure to wash our car and fill it up with gas upon drop off for not extra fees. Came into town for a cousins wedding. Was kind of last minute and booked a car through Priceline and found the least expensive car with Green Motion across the street from John Wayne Airport. Shortly after booking online I received a call from the car company confirming my reservation. They instructed me to call them upon arrival and they would come pick me up. I called on arrival and Amir was quick to pick me up. It was a short drive across the street. In that short trip, Amir and I chatted it up and quickly got to know him. The rental transaction was quick and easy. Amir recommended an excellent Persian restaurant in the area. Had the vehicle 4 days and returned it today. Amir was at the front desk again and immediately recognized me. He was very pleasant to deal with again and was impressed with his enthusiastic personality. This company falsely advertised unlimited mileage until I arrived with my California drivers license and was told there was a limit. I objected and they trotted out their fine print. Disgusting bait and switch. The unprofessional employee mumbled about company policy and I was stuck. They should remove the unlimited mileage offering immediately. I was charged .35 a mile over the limit. I had no choice. The room where you rent the car smelled of mold and dirt. This was a disgusting experience and I will never use them again. Stay away.
