Staying in the Marriot this was a convenient place mainly for fruits (grapes), water, maybe some chocolates (nothing like precooked meals or sandwiches). I didn't try the beers selection (Finback brewery just next to the Hotel), nothing from the deli. It's open 24 hours (who needs it at 3 or 4 AM is beyond me?), but it's New York. The corner across the bodega is little sketchy, there are some bums (we called them homeless in CA) staying around, but with us I was not approached or harassed. read more

I also bought milk this morning and it was really fresh. This store is truly amazing. Vegetables and fruits are almost half the price of other places and always fresh. The deli menu is full of eatables and their smoothies are a bit pricey, but so good. Best place to shop at park slope. And a plus to for the employees who is very helpful and nice. read more

I keep hoping Green Ivy will improve, but it currently sells so much old, moldy food, I am afraid to shop here. Currently, the only thing Green Ivy has going for it is the friendly staff. There inventory keeps shrinking. I can no longer find the salad dressing or kosher vegetarian prepared meals I used to buy here. In May 2021, I ran out of Green Ivy in horror after realizing the bread I was about to buy was covered in mold. Then -- like a MORON -- I returned. On Wednesday 6-9-2021, I tried buying fresh, raw snow peas and sugar snaps. It was only 6-9-2021 on Wednesday, but the snow peas and sugar snaps were marked "PACKED ON 6-10-2021" and there was fuzzy fungus inside some of the packages. All of the sugar snaps and snow peas, which are supposed to be green, were covered in unappealing small brown spots. Other reviewers on Yelp have also noticed the packing dates are off here. New York State health's department should investigate. And yes, I really did see a BIG FAT rat right in front of the sushi section! Not a total surprise, as Green Ivy is somewhat exposed to 4th Avenue's dirt and has endured a lot of nearby construction. There is a cat here, but the cat is just a hair bigger than the rat. If you want fresher fruits, vegetables, vegetarian pre-made meals, fish, dairy, and meat and a larger selection of everything, a similar store that does this type of thing A LOT BETTER is DNY Natural Land located at 322 Flatbush Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11238 near the Q subway's 7th Avenue Station in Brooklyn. Popped in here to escape the humidity and cool off. As I wandered the aisles, I noticed that they have a pretty wide array of foods available for purchase. There's even a sushi master station! The aisles are quite tight. It's hard to maneuver when there's more than one person. They should look into acquiring additional space. I've recently been on the dairy-free regimen, and noticed that there's only almond milk as a resource for milk-like products. Definitely recommend your shop brings in So Delicious (Coconut Milk) Unsweetened. And there are other faux cheeses that have better ingredients than Daiya. Look at quality products, because being dairy-free or even vegan that matter is tough to do when the products out there have terrible ingredients. What's the point of limiting yourself if you're going to be ingesting worse? (Rhetorical) I noticed one odd thing which I took a picture of and posted. They have a freezer section that is designated as not items they sell, but they're common ice cream treats that are sold elsewhere. I joked that maybe it's a front... but who knows?! As you can tell, I've seen a lot of mystery films. The staff and cashier clerks are friendly and kind. Of the two items I purchased, the lady who checked me out asked me if I have had them before and what I think of them. I was buying those snack-able beans for the very first time. I don't live nearby... I was there for meeting some newfound friends at the Strong Rope Brewery. If I'm ever back in the area, and she's there again, I'll let her know my thoughts. Green Ivy has a lot to offer, but the quality of their offerings vary substantially. To begin with, all of the freshly prepared (take-out) food options that I've tried here have been pretty great. I've stopped here on quite a few mornings for their great-value breakfast sandwiches (my favorite was the absolutely HUGE two eggs and meat bagel for $3.50). I also enjoyed their fresh sushi bar (the pepper tuna is really good, as is the seaweed salad). And, the fresh Korean dishes (spicy pork was my favorite) were also pretty great. I also used to stop here and get packaged goods (things like drinks, chips, crackers, etc), and they have a good selection of natural/organic. The prices are fairly reasonable (slightly cheaper than the Whole Foods down the street). What I really didn't like about Green Ivy was their fresh produce. Time and time again, I would get produce home and bite/cut into it, only to find it was old and getting stale. So, I really can't recommend getting and fruit or vegetables here. read more

Their fruits are always on the verge of expiring and usually have mold , please check the expiration date on the fruits before purchasing. One time I went here for blackberries as soon as I opened the package I saw mold , I went back int to replace it and found mold on all of the other blackberries I then proceeded to ask the lady how often do they change their fruits . She told me she cut them and replace them everyday . I told her no you don't because all of your blackberries have mold and your other fruits have reached the expiration date . My mostly okay local Korean grocer. I remember when this place first arrived. Well, it's first incarnation. Then it was sold to another (the current) Korean owner and expanded. It's still overpriced, yet convenient. There are mediocre fresh flowers, assorted produce, prepared foods, and grocery items. The local customers include people who live in the neighborhood, people who work nearby, visiting construction workers (for real, the surrounding streets have been torn up repeatedly for the last couple of years), visitors to the local hotels, and other randoms. If you're local, this store is best described in terms of items purchased. For me, it's as follows: Beer; snacks, both salty and sweet: They have an abundance of options for all of these, and you can expect to pay $1-3 more for each item than other nearby stores. Sometimes I want to walk to Associated, another bodega, or the coop to pay less; sometimes I suck it up and just get swindled. But they do have the products I like, everything from McVities Digestives to Harvest Snaps. (I know, but it's what I like, damn it!) And a wide assortment of beer. The frozen items (pints of ice cream!) often have ice crystals on the outside, as if they've been refrozen. Prepared items, including coffee: The coffee/tea selection is fine. The prepared items are okay. Just don't ever have the chicken noodle soup: it's terrible. As in, the worst I've ever had: a few noodles, maybe some chicken and a sliced carrot, watery broth. Just, no. I've had mixed experiences on other prepared items. I've had to return sandwiches because of mold and also had decent quinoa salads. Produce: It's surprising, but there are always a few random deals here, like a plump avocado for $1.99. Or some inexpensive fresh flowers. But you have to hunt. The staff are sometimes friendly/sometimes courteous/sometimes curt. Depends on who's working. You definitely aren't treated differently if you're a repeat, local customer. I order from green ivy about four times a week. I love the convenience of ordering food, toilet paper, flowers,soap and ice cream all in the same delivery. They are very kind and accommodating both in store and over the phone. I love the variety of food and products that they sell. I love the bacon egg and cheese sandwich which I treat myself to once in a while. The avocado and sushi rolls are great. They are my go to for sure. My only complaint is sometimes when I get an avocado roll it's a bit Brown but that happens everywhere The sandwiches are great as well as the smoothies. Often when I get food there Sometimes I had to return precooked meals because it was bad/old. Sometimes I've seen em putting hot food on the line early in the morning 8/9 am and it sits there until they open hot line at noon. This little treasure of the Brooklyn area could get better but I love it as is too. They've got everything I need and the ladies behind the register bag your groceries for you right. The head lady Ana was to die for. She's been here since the beginning and she always helps me pick out the better produce. If all those whole foods learned a thing or two from these gals about customer service they would have my business. Not happening though. Green ivy has me Hook line and sinker. Don't buy fruits because it is cheap unless you want to throw them in the garbage or you want to go back for refund. Don't buy avocado from there, it's always black inside. I went next day and told them avocado was bad, they asked me to bring them which I already threw. If you are willing to buy strawberries, Raj berries, salads and chopped fruits; check every single pieces of it, it's always been mold. I don't know how they are selling them by Making customers full. Frozen stuffs as well as ice creams are often have found melted. So again if you still want to purchase, go for it. Deli salad, sandwich has same problems, sometimes can find bugs on it or mold. If you can be nice with deli guys, you will get extra food otherwise they will rip you on price. One more thing to say before you buy any groceries check the expiration date and make sure packages are not opened and has no tape on it:) Make sure you know the prices of all items you are buying and they charged you right price by checking the receipt, once again if you are not willing to go there again for same shit. I'm glad this place is close by, just for those urgent purchases, but I would avoid their frozen section. Not sure if their freezers consistently fail, but I've bought ice cream on various occasions that has clearly melted into slush and was then refrozen. It's worse when it's ice cream on a stick. Makes me wonder/ worry about their refrigerated stuff too, like milk, yogurt and cheeses, so I avoid buying these things if I can help it. They consistently have the worst avocados, which taste funny and are typically black on the inside - I'll update my review if I ever remember to check the stickers on the avocados - just so you know which to avoid! read more

Yes, this place isn't exactly a supermarket, but I tend to go here more than Associated...and not just because it's convenient. This place is new and improved. They renovated a few months back and expanded their selections. They carry a lot of different things (especially for being more of a bodega than a grocery store) and are super affordable. They are always really nice and it's literally right off of the Union stop on 4th Ave, so super convenient. They have a huge selection of produce and everything is always pretty fresh. read more

I was super hyped on Green Ivy when they first opened even though it is not super close to my apartment. It is close to the Union St R stop so it is a convenient place to pick stuff up on your way home. The prices of some stuff is good, some average and some inflated. I wouldn't be inclined to shop for a whole meal or anything but if you are on your way to a party and need to pick stuff up. They have a fresh juice bar have not checked it out as of yet. This is my go to after work place to grab a few things on my way home. Produce is pretty reasonable and fresh. They have such a variety of things since they renovated, which is great!
