He is professional, knowledgeable, a great communicator, and has an easy going disposition --- which in my experience can be a challenging combination of positive traits that isn't always easy to find. He came out as scheduled, took a look at not only the sink, but also had to move some ceiling panels in the basement (not an easy feat to access) to diagnose the issue. Within just over an hour, my tenant's sink was fixed and the area Tom worked in was cleaner than how he found it. His rate was completely affordable. He also gave some additional advice regarding updating my home's plumbing for the future. I would highly recommend Tom for any / all plumbing needs. Highly.

I will be relying on Arlington Appliance for repairs from now on. My dryer, which is at least 9 years old, stopped blowing heat. I called Arlington Appliance and, because it was a busy time (right before Christmas), had to schedule an appointment four business days later. This seemed reasonable to me because a broken dryer isn't a crisis--you can hang-dry or go to the laundromat in the meantime. Bill and Bruce arrived within the two-hour window they'd promised. They took apart my dryer and identified the heating element as the problem. Bill thought he might have the part back at his shop, so the two of them zipped off and returned within 15 minutes. He didn't have the part, but said he could get it that same evening and return the next day to install it. He asked for a $100 deposit (check) towards a $300 total charge for parts, labor and scheduling fee (which is waived if you end up needing real work). Bill came back on time the next day and had the dryer running in no time--two days before Christmas. He even gave me some advice: let the dryer cool down 10-15 minutes between each load. The last thing I'll mention is that Arlington Appliance doesn't have a showroom. Bill told me that the manufacturers control showrooms--what's being pushed, where the merchandise is positioned--and that these demands often conflict with what the customer actually needs. I think that, because Arlington Appliance is a repair service and not a sales-driven business, you're going to get a service more interested in squeezing all you can get from your existing appliances before resorting to buying something new. This is both economical and better for the environment. While I hope that I don't have to call Arlington Appliance often, I know I'll be in good hands when I do.

They told me that they needed to rip out all my walls to put it in. I wanted to get a second opinion, so I put a request through yelp. Dan, the owner of Max, emailed me within an hour with his cell number. Stacey, the office manager, called me first thing the next morning and sent out Joseph, who did a careful analysis of my system. It did need to be replaced. Paulo came out and did an outstanding installation, over 3 days, staying late on a Friday night to complete it. My walls were all kept intact. Dan and Sam have been stand-out with the depth of their answers to my questions. I appreciate that immensely as a demonstration of how much they care about the subject matter, and how much they care about ensuring I'm properly informed on what is happening. Sam and his crew were out all day yesterday dismantling the old boiler and installing the new one. They were friendly and engaged the whole time letting me observe the process. Sam called me over throughout to show me up close what had corroded in my old boiler, and to explain to me how it happened. He did the same during install of the new boiler to demonstrate all the critical aspects for maintenance--including letting me unscrew and rescrew a piece to practice for future cleaning. The new boiler is running smoothly right now. I feel like I understand its pieces. Sam even took an interest in diagnosing why my bathroom heating panel (which has never worked) wasn't heating. He cleaned out its vent and it has heat now. My cat is very happy to be warm right now. From the way Sam and his crew talked through all the aspects of the work they were doing, it was clear they take pride in the quality of the work. This wasn't just a job to get over and done with. James's expertise and attention to detail was clear when he was able to identify the underlying issues with the system. He was great at explaining the issues and what needed to be fixed to me. I appreciated that he took the time to answer all my questions. The system had degraded over time due to acidic antifreeze that was installed by the previous owners resulting in leaks in various valves. The technicians show up promptly, do great work, and keep your home clean by wearing protective covers over their work boots (seriously, it's a small thing but it makes a world of difference to me). The annual service contracts are very reasonable, and contract customers get priority, which is awesome. You can't plan emergencies, but you can plan on setting up a contract! For twice-annual tuneups on our HVAC equipment, Luis and David have both been fantastic, giving good advice and making sure our systems (installed by another, less responsive company we no longer bother with) are in good order. I only wish we'd had them install our equipment in the first place. For insulation work, Corey and team were great about assessing our home, providing recommendations, and working on the fly when it turned out some of our walls already had insulation. These folks are easy to get ahold of, easy to work with, and unfailingly polite and awesome at their work. I can't say enough great things about them.

I was most impressed that he was a good communicator (by phone and text) and was able to come over very close to (slightly earlier than) his early ballpark estimate. In the past, I've had trouble with various HVAC places not getting back to me. I believe this company is small and services only the Medford area (so if you're not in Medford, you may want to try other options). Also, I think the company name is AS 8 Corp. (that's who I made check out to), slightly different than the Yelp listing. But I am so happy another customer posted this on Yelp or I never would've known about this place. One slight downside is that I didn't receive my invoice yet (which he'd said he'd email). But the price was reasonable and I expect he's just been very busy this week.
