Do not ever call them. Called to have a washer gasket changed. A tech showed up, installed the new one and asked that I pay him directly, which I did. Then our machine stops working (it was working before, just had a moldy gasket). Customer services tried to deny responsibility, says that this must be an electronic problem and he should not have needed to touch the electronics. I insist that he had to take the machine apart and machine stopped working after that. The tech offered to come that day or next day but then ghosted me and started texting that it must be a different problem. even more, when I requested refund for the $250, the customer service said that I agreed to pay him directly so I need to deal with the tech now. I did not hire a random individual , but a company. Unbelievable. Wondering how much the repair will cost since now I need to find someone else. read more

My 80 year old mother's dishwasher broke down and an Arlington Appliance technician came and fixed it for a cost of 286 dollars. Three and a half months later, it would not work again with the same symptoms. Arlington Appliance said their warranty only lasted a month and that they had only replaced the power chord and not run diagnostics on the previous occasion. They wanted to charge further 119 dollars to come again to check out the problem, charge 200 dollars an hour for labor, plus the cost of parts. Very shady. read more

In two short visits on sequential days (12pm Thursday and 9am Friday), Bill from Arlington Appliance diagnosed my dryer's broken heating element, ordered a replacement, and installed it, all for $300. I will be relying on Arlington Appliance for repairs from now on. My dryer, which is at least 9 years old, stopped blowing heat. I called Arlington Appliance and, because it was a busy time (right before Christmas), had to schedule an appointment four business days later. This seemed reasonable to me because a broken dryer isn't a crisis--you can hang-dry or go to the laundromat in the meantime. Bill and Bruce arrived within the two-hour window they'd promised. They took apart my dryer and identified the heating element as the problem. Bill thought he might have the part back at his shop, so the two of them zipped off and returned within 15 minutes. He didn't have the part, but said he could get it that same evening and return the next day to install it. He asked for a $100 deposit (check) towards a $300 total charge for parts, labor and scheduling fee (which is waived if you end up needing real work). Bill came back on time the next day and had the dryer running in no time--two days before Christmas. He even gave me some advice: let the dryer cool down 10-15 minutes between each load. The last thing I'll mention is that Arlington Appliance doesn't have a showroom. Bill told me that the manufacturers control showrooms--what's being pushed, where the merchandise is positioned--and that these demands often conflict with what the customer actually needs. I think that, because Arlington Appliance is a repair service and not a sales-driven business, you're going to get a service more interested in squeezing all you can get from your existing appliances before resorting to buying something new. This is both economical and better for the environment. While I hope that I don't have to call Arlington Appliance often, I know I'll be in good hands when I do. read more

Arlington Appliance replaced a built-in microwave for me. The new unit looks great and works better than the old one. AA helped me pick out a new one that could be delivered and installed quickly, even in the middle of the current global supply chain problems. I had Arlington Appliance come by about a year ago to look at a failing dishwasher. The tech (maybe the owner) was very nice, seemed knowledgeable and let me know that they'd order a part for me. After a couple of months, I hadn't hear back, so I called and was told that parts were running behind because of supply chain issues. Every couple of months I called back in and got the same answer, so I eventually gave up. It's get that there were delays, but don't understand them never following up and still not getting the part a year later. read more

Came out to fix my leaking refrigerator but couldn't because ice build up was too thick. Charged nothing for the visit, explained what I needed to do to get rid of the ice. They returned a few weeks later with a two man crew ready for a major move, were able to fix it in place and charged a very reasonable - far less than I expected - fee. Explained why the problem occurred - and everything now works perfectly. Any time another appliance of ours goes out, this is who I'll call. read more

I had recent work done on my street in Melrose which messed up a lot of my plumbing which meant the dishwasher needed a look at. Arlington Appliance was quick to return my call, set an appointment very quickly and the technician was very informative and did everything possible to keep costs low. He also looked at my dryer and did some repairs there too. His professionalism and quality work was excellent but his honesty and good ole heart was refreshing. The owner was so friendly and helpful on the phone - what a contrast. The service men were prompt, friendly and did an excellent job fixing the issue with my dishwasher. I see that all the other reviews are 5 stars, so perhaps what happened to me is an anomaly, but I feel the need to share it. They replaced my disposal a number of years back. It died within a short time. They came back and replaced it. It died in a short time again. The guy who replaced it told me that they don't make disposals like they used to (??) and they don't last long anymore. I researched this and found out they usually last years, so this didn't sit well with me. I called my plumber to come and replace the 3rd one. He told me the guy who put it in did not use any sealant around the disposal so the water was leaking into the unit and shorting it out. He properly sealed this one and I've had it many years now. I never went back to Arlington Appliance for a refund but I should have. I checked 'no' for reliability, not because they didn't some when they said they would, but because they should have known how to install a disposal and should have figured out what went wrong. Caveat: this was years ago so maybe they have improved. But it really left a bad taste in my mouth. I would not use them again. read more

Another "trusted" appliance repair professional looked at my older Maytag washing machine and told me that it would cost more to repair than to replace. I wasn't convinced, and decided to call Arlington Appliance for a "second opinion." I'm so glad I did! Dan at Arlington Appliance was able to quickly diagnose the problem, and fix it in less than an hour, for about $100. He was clearly knowledgeable, thorough, and skilled. He also got my under-performing Bosch dishwasher working well, and gave me good suggestions for keeping it running well. Last week I called NStar to check out a gas leak in our stove and in the process the tech broke the stove. Arlington Appliance was quick to come out, diagnose the problem, and found the cost of parts was more than a new stove. They were extremely helpful in choosing a new one, and ordered that for us. When it came in they were again extremely helpful and accommodating and flexible with getting it delivered ASAP and installed. Joan in the office was wonderful and Bill and Dan who came on the two visits were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I've used Arlington Appliance twice now and both times I was left very happy. First visit was for a washer that went kaput after 3 1/2 years - stay away from Samsung! Purchased a new washer thru them at a great price (best I could find and I looked around) and they installed quickly helping make my life easier not being without a washer for long with 2 little ones. This week I noticed a problem with my refrigerator and they came out diagnosed the problem quickly. Sent someone ASAP that same day to fix it. After they left we had an additional problem with the repair and they came next day and to care of it for no additional charge. Dan the technician was excellent. Came on time and clearly knew his stuff. Fixed my dryer which had its first problem in 16 years. Dan fixed the cause of the problem and replaced a belt that was near the end of its life. He cleaned the appliance. No nonsense guy. Took less than an hour. $220. total versus $800-$1000 and 2 plumber visits to replace. read more
