I've not been here in a while due to the decline in service and food quality. Last night I went with a friend & his family. The service was terrible from the start. Even after pointing to all the items on the menu we wanted they still got 1/2 the order wrong. On top of that the portion sizes are about 1/2 of what they used to be. Drinks we're also terrible. Fortunately there is a new and excellent sushi bar in Laconia. Im not sure what happened, years ago this restaurant was one of the best in the lakes region. Now it doesn't come close. read more

Was on the way home from work so we thought we would try this restaurant for the first time. Ordered on my phone enroute to the restaurant. Was ready when they said it would be - 20 minutes. Cost was $47.00. I thought that was a little high for one entree, one fried rice and one soup, but thought the portions must be huge. When we got home and opened the very well wrapped packages. Was kind of disappointed. The Large Won Ton soup only had 3 won tons in it, mainly liquid. The mango shrimp was for one person, and the side of fried rice was normal size. The food tasted great, but got the amount of food vs the price they charged--we will not be back. read more

Good old fashioned New England Chinese food at its best. The tea is great. We order lots of different dishes and it's always very fresh. The last time we stopped in for dinner I'm not sure what happened but we were served one dish at a time. It was quite unusual. That's the only reason they get 4 stars and not 5. The food was quite shocking in all the wrong ways. First though, the food was quick. It came out right away, and it was hot. The drinks also include free refills, this seems like a minor thing but it doesn't seem to be up here. Now, for the appetizer: we ordered rangoons, szechuan dumplings with hot sesame peanut sauce, and boneless honey ribs. - The Rangoons had a weird metallic taste, almost like it was canned. They still weren't worst we've had up here, but they weren't really pleasant. - The dumplings were wontons, but it tasted like they were pulled out of wonton soup. They tasted like wonton soup. The 'peanut sauce' was literally just globs of JIF peanut butter spooned on top with a bit of unaltered chili oil on top. The thing is, though, that PB is very thick and very sweet and this makes a tiny bit of oil unable to cut through it at all. So even with a piece that got most of the chili oil we couldn't taste it. It was like eating spoons of peanut butter that after dipping the spoon in wonton soup. It was unpleasant. - The ribs were completely flavorless. No honey, no BBQ, and very dry outside of the pieces that were all fat. All in all: Edible, but unpleasant. For our dinner (ordered before we got appetizers), I ordered "authentic Szechuan style" chicken with spicy chili sauce. We also ordered "Chicken Amazing" that stated it was sauteed with draw mushrooms, snow pea pods, green peppers, onions, and broccoli in amazing sauce. First thing: None of the dinners come with any sides, no rice or anything. So order some if you want what comes standard in any Chinese dish. But for the food, the chicken with spicy oil... I'm very convinced the chicken was taking out of something else and just rinsed. Maybe a puupuu or moo goo or something. It was the texture as if a slimy sauce was on it. The other dish was cooked differently, not just boiled, but it wasn't as slimy. I had no spice despite being in chili sauce, as the slime of the chicken seemed to repel the water. Again, it was -edible- by the standards that I hadn't eaten all day and it was a very long day. I just wanted out of there. But I've come to the conclusion that New Hampshire just doesn't seem to understand what "authentic" Szechuan is. I've never had chili oil that had zero flavor or heat except when it's been boiled/cooked. The broth itself was just water, so that makes me think they boiled it or had a pot just boiling of 'mix' that they dump into a plate with whatever chicken they have on hand. For the Chicken Amazing: It had 3 tiny mushrooms, one piece of broccoli, and a few peas. The 'Amazing' sauce was just standard brown sauce. And again - no rice or anything by default. There was just nothing really redeeming about this place outside of the fact that it was fast and the staff was nice. I'd not go again, and I really would hope that standards could be raised for what qualifies as Chinese food in the area. We are this close to New York and can't seem to get anything just decent, I'm not asking for good or great, just ... decent. Something that isn't beaten by frozen stuff from the grocery store (which I am pretty sure a different restaurant actually served us). read more

Place sucked. From the second we walked in, everyone seemed to be in some tremendous rush (there were about 5 tables that were occupied.) Our waiter had absolutely zero table side manners. He rushed us throughout our entire meal, got 3/4 of our order incorrect. When we tried to rectify it, he straight up gaslit us and told us "no this is what you ordered." and did not have any interest in fixing it. We then overheard this waiter questioning the amount another table tipped "you know you only tipped me 10% right?" There are not many restaurants in this area that serve good sushi---- based on that it was good. Not very clean inside and darkness hides it---soup was cold--- but sushi seemed pretty fresh and well done. You will not get Boston quality, but certainly better than supermarket sushi. They serve fried wonton wrappers and duck sauce at the tables. Ours were served in a bowl that wasn't fully washed and had cabbage or lettuce stuck to it. When I walked out to the ladies room, there was a tray of them set on a trash can for the wait staff to take to the tables. The restroom door was sticky and the bathroom itself not clean. The food is bland and very greasy. It's priced about the same as any other Chinese/Japanese restaurant locally, but without the same value for the dollar. The decor is modern, private, and comfortable. Can't ask for much more. The service was excellent- timed well and professional. The sushi was great and I plan to go back lots more. It's hard to find these combination restaurants that do both types of food well, but this is one of them. Hubby's beef with brocolli was yummy and so was my dragon and phoenix. Although the breading on my shrimp was totally yuck. Really gooey and stretchy. It honestly reminded me of raw calamari or something. This was the only setback. When stripped of the breading and dipped back in the sauce it was good again. Also, if the menu states spicy, don't count on it. This could be our inner southwesterners talking, but even the spicy girl roll wasn't that spicy. Easily remedied by asking for more heat. This is not my regular Chinese place but I got takeout today because I had a coupon. However, the food was Pricey enough so tht even with my coupon I paid more the I would have at my usual Chinese place. The service was good, and should not be blamed for my two star review. The food was flavorless...literally. The pork fried rice was among the lamest I have ever experienced. This place is going downhill in a big way I have been dining here for seems like 6 years. The first time I dined here I was almost overwhelmed with the great food and great service. In addition to eating here with my wife, my office also orders lunch from time to time. Lately nobody I know had been very impressed with their meals On the last few visits, the fried rice has been soggy and greasy, just lacking flavor. They don't put much shrimp in their dishes, but they charge enough so one would expect a decent portion I ordered a few hand rolls about a month ago. Two were fine but one smelled quite fowl. I know it's raw fish and that has its own smell, but this roll was not right. My biggest issue is the last time I bought lunch for the crew at work. A total of 10 people ordering sushi, lunch specials and apps. We paid over $170 for this and it was very wrong. Like not even close. They left out 1 meal and several apps so we had to send someone back on the half hour journey to get the missing parts to this big order. I really hope they figure out what the issues is and correct it soon. This area needs a place like Green Ginger and they were so much better a few years ago. read more

I'd rather eat at Panda Express than eat at Green Ginger. The food at Green Ginger is horrible. We went here for lunch. I had the Ginger Chicken w/String Beans and my husband had the General Gau's Chicken. As it was a lunch special, I opted for Hot & Sour Soup, Chicken Wings and Pork Fried Rice on my plate. My husband also had the Hot & Sour Soup, an Egg Roll and Pork Fried Rice. We also had a simple Oshinkomaki sushi roll and a couple of sodas. First, the soup was oddly tasteless. It had some bamboo shoots and some tofu, but no meat. The broth was heavy with cornstarch and had no flavor other than a little heat and a little sour; there was really no flavor other than that; usually the broth has a nice base flavor and is accented with the spice and tang of vinegar. This had none of it. It was just salty and sour. On came the entrees. My chicken was bland. The ONLY ginger flavor came from several slices of fresh ginger; otherwise the sauce was the ubiquitous brown sauce and nothing else. The chicken was tender, and the green beans with crisp-fried, but other than that, there was no distinct flavor to it all. That was the same for the chicken wings; while all the other food was way too salty, the wings had NO seasoning. At all. It tasted like oil. The pork fried rice was also bland and flavorless. My husband's Genera Gau's chicken was basically batter-fried nuggets in a sweet & sour sauce. He did say that his egg roll was pretty good. The sushi roll had oddly salty sushi rice. Once again, someone here didn't know how to properly season. This food was horrible. Thank goodness we only came for lunch; had we shelled out the $$ for a full dinner, I would have been furious. This place is worse than food-court Chinese. Skip it. It's the worst of bad American Chinese food. read more

First time ever here & was pretty good! Spring rolls and vegetable sushi was very good. Atmosphere was good and prices were fair. My boyfriends order got messed up, but he said it wasn't too big of a deal. He said his meal was good as well. My wife ordered chicken and broccoli, not teriyaki, and the sauce was nearly identical in flavor as my dish. They were certainly identical in appearance and consistency. Not offensive. I went to Green Ginger last weekend and even though the place wasn't really crowded it seemed as though our waitress was harried. We were a table of four with two couples and we asked the waitress for two checks. The transaction was a little complicated due to the language barrier between us. Somehow I got the impression that she was a little bitter about having to do that but come on, that shouldn't be a big deal. I probably wouldn't have asked if it were a mob scene in there. I ordered a Tuna Roll, Seaweed Salad, and General Gao's Tofu. Others at the table ordered apps and soup. I really want to give this place a fourth star because the food was pretty good. The problem was that the waitress brought out all of the food at once. The soup, the appetizers, the entree's as well as the sushi and seaweed salad. Plop. Right on the table all at the same time. For both parties. And it happened so fast that my GF who had run off to the bathroom after ordering came back to a table full of food. I really felt like they were trying to rush us out of there. So there it is, 3 stars. The sushi was pretty good though....better service next time I go there and I'll revisit my rating. read more

I would give more stars but the waitress Jessie was so bad. Hot and sour soup was room temperature and crab Rangoon's came out with dinner and not soup. She was so rude. Leaned and reached across table without saying excuse me and asked us to hand her dirty dishes as she was rushing us to finish. We arrived with a little more than an hour before closing but she acted as though we arrived with 10 minutes before closing. She was NOT a friendly waitress. I won't be in a rush to go back. As a side note she dragged her feet when walking so all we heard during dinner was the sound of clomp clomp from her walking. Kitchen staff could be heard from across room cleaning and banging dishes. Very uncomfortable dinner. The restaurant has a dirty feeling with decorations thick with dust. The husband and I decided to grab a bite to eat on our way to the Bank of NH Pavilion before a show. We thought it'd be better than spending $15 on a taco at the venue. So we used the Yelp app to find a place as we drove. We decided we wanted sushi and we saw that Green Ginger was on the way so we stopped last minute. Green Ginger is located in a shopping plaza and though the front isn't impressive it's quite nice upon entering. The staff was fairly friendly and the place was clean. Very large area with many seating options, including a small bar in the front and a small sushi bar towards the back. That said, we were seated directly next to another couple. Even placing us one booth down would have provided us some more privacy, as all of the other tables were free. Their menus are in rough shape, physically. Their drink options are limited. Basic stuff like Mai Tais and Bahama Mamas etc. I ordered a dirty martini which was not on the menu. My husband got the Bahama Mama. We ordered the Sushi Boat for 2 and an extra roll. Something called the Funky Monkey or something like that. Our drinks arrived and I guess I should have specified the vodka I wanted used because it legit tasted like rubbing alcohol mixed with olive juice. I couldn't finish it. My husband said his was fine. The miso soup which came with the meal was very hot but very salty. Overly salty. Too salty for me. I took two sips and passed it over to my husband who lives or super salty foods. The dressing on the salad was okay, but thinner and more oily than I was used to so I pushed this aside, as well. When our entree and extra roll showed up we were amazed to see that it came on an actual boat structure which took up the majority of our table space. The sushi was pretty lackluster. The fish was cut strangely, like against the grain and in odd slices. It honestly tasted like supermarket sushi. Not great. The only saving grace was the Monkey roll thing. That was decent. The appetizer, a Szechuan dumpling with peanut sauce - absolutely no heat and I'm not kidding the sauce was gritty peanut butter, probably Skippy. The filling was almost non existant. Since I was hungry I tried scraping off the PB and it was still inedible. The main - Peking pork - not as bad as the app but not good. Some pieces of pork tasted fishy - to the point I thought I had calamari. I probably should have stopped eating but again - hungry. I got about halfway through and gave up. The white rice with soy sauce was good though! Just hoping the pork wasn't bad. Move past this one and go somewhere else. read more

It's been a couple years since I've been here, but this place was always good to us. Due to the fair pricing on lunch specials, my husband and I would stop here every month on "shopping day". I'd always get the wonton soup (maybe two wonton soups! They were my favorite thing here) and we'd get a special or two, and maybe some sushi. While we never had anything bad, it's not really the greatest food either. It's fairly priced (considering $8 will barely get you a burger at McD's anymore) and it's better than a lot of the other options around, and pretty tasty. Plus the drinks? Ohhh the drinks. They're simply fabulous. However, if you want some better sushi, take the extra drive to Concord and go to Moritomo's. Their yellowtail is great. (Even better, if you get to Boston, find Samurai next to the convention center. Some of THE best sushi I've ever eaten lives there.) read more

What a PLEASANT SURPRISE! I have passed this place hundreds of times going through Tilton and me and my fair lady stopped in for a late lunch (3 pm). There was a small group of late Sunday shoppers there and we were seated in what I would describe as the P.F. Chang's of Tilton. We chose two of the Luncheon combo plates at $7.95 each we had Hot and Sour Soup, an appetizer, plus a main course with pork fried rice all of which were served quickly. The food was hot, plentiful and tasty!!! Overall an excellent dining experience!!!!! read more

Food and service: This place was really good. They gave us HUGE Shirley temples and the wonton soup was delicious. The only problem was the gyoza that had shrimp in it. Ew. We ordered an order of PORK gyoza. It wasn't their fault that we got shrimp gyoza instead of pork gyoza. We didn't order pork gyoza, we ordered gyoza and assumed it would be pork because the only type we had ever heard of. They gave us Andy's mints and awesome fortune cookies. I recommend green ginger just don't order shrimp gyoza if you hate seafood. Price: it had a fair price Funny fact: we went to UNO's Chigaco Grill last night for dinner and they took so long making my sister's pizza that they removed it from the bill. Even with our two orders of shrimp gyoza, one order of pork gyoza, miso soup, wonton soup, 2 orders of hot and sour soup, Szechwan beef, and garlic broccoli, UNO's STILL cost about fifteen dollars more! And all we got at UNO's was: two personal pizzas (one for me, one for my dad), vegetable soup, and an order of breadsticks! UNO's must have been WAYYYYYYYY overpriced because even though Green Ginger isn't expensive, it isn't dirt cheap. Decor: A BEAUTIFUL place. read more
