As diehard skiers, our family and friends frequent the ski resorts in the White Mountains and then on the way back home, either stop at a brew house to eat, or stop at a Chinese take-out and eat at home. And then our old Chinese food standby in Bristol closed down and we were looking for another one. Then we found Lucky Dragon, just off I-93 in Ashland. We called about a half hour before and spoke to a very friendly gentleman. It was a large takeout order, well over $100. When we got to Lucky Dragon, it was there, piping hot. The attendant was courteous and efficient. Inside, a few tables were busy and the ambiance was pleasant. We got home and the food was superb. From General Tso's to Pork Lo Mein to Spring Rolls, to Beef and Broccoli and numerous others, we were all satisfied. Quick, efficient, and courteous. What else can one want? read more

Just ordered take out for the first it cost 69.00 and it was terrible . Some people told us it was good but it sucked never again

We stopped into the Lucky Dragon while we were out, and placed an order. It was delivered fast and was still quite hot when we got home. The Szechuan entree was enough food for two people. It comes with pork fried rice and a choice of one side. I chose the Crab Rangoon, which you get two pieces (I had one before I took the photo). It was nice and spicy - so glad to get Szechuan with a bit of heat. The pork fried rice was good but didn't have any veggies or egg. Still tasty. My husband had the Pu Pu Platter and also ordered Chicken Fried Rice. Same comment as above regarding the rice. He was happy with the taste and quality of his entree. read more

Stopped by last week after camping for a few days! The food was way better than other similar style Chinese restaurants I've been to. The pork fried rice had more flavor and fresh veggies came in the lo mein which I loved. The plates were big and decently priced so we ordered a lot! Local quaint place with decent food. The taste of their food is very good. My issue is they absolutely load you up on either rice or noodles, depending on the dish. Meat in the dish is hard to locate and the veggies as well. That's why it looks like you get so much. It's mostly all rice or noodles. You're hunting for the meat and veggies. Meat is also typical Chinese restaurant meat. Meaning lower quality, possibly cryo-packaged and shipped in from China. read more

Updating review. For 30$ you can get 2 entrees to go, which yields at least 3 hefty meals for me. They give you rice, and will listen when you say no sauce or fortune cookies. Sadly, then you want it hot, I'm not sure they have any birds eye hot peppers anywhere :/ Regardless, probably the best Chinese now in the Plymouth, Ashland, Bridgewater, Bristol area. Plymouth NH is known for 3 things. Outdoor recreation, Plymouth State University, and some of the worst Chinese food on the North East. Mandarin Cuisine closed down, I wouldn't touch Hong Kong with a ten foot pole, and Fugaky is alright but more overpriced and doesn't have that "Chinese restaurant" aesthetic that many of us New Englanders crave. This place is it. It has the aesthetic, the food, the prices, and the friendly people. If you're in the Plymouth area and want cheap Chinese takeout that won't give you salmonella or food poisoning, this is the place. This storefront Chinese restaurant offers full service dining in a clean and casual dining room and takeout service at the front counter. The standard Chinese dishes including Hunan, Szechuan, & Cantonesen cuisines and specialties are served here, as well as a few Thai dishes including Pad Thai and weight watchers selections. No MSG is added. They also serve up 54 Combinations (offered all day) served with pork fried rice (or white rice) and choice of appetizer (beef or chicken teriyaki $1 more) for $5.75-$7.75 plus tax. As I was driving back from a job in the North Country, I had a Lucky Dragon menu in the vehicle and called in a small dinner takeout order to Lucky Dragon since I was approaching Ashland. I ordered the C35 Shrimp Lo Mein ($7.25 plus tax) with pork fried rice and chicken, which was ready to be picked up in 20 minutes. When I arrived here, the dining room seemed quiet with 2 customers eating in, while the front of the restaurant had several customers waiting for and picking up takeout orders. The food was ready in 20 minutes as quoted. The portion of hot food was generous and packed in a pretty good in the takeout box. The food was still hot and ready to eat when I got back to Concord. For the most part, the food tasted pretty decent. The lomein had tender small shrimp, snow peas, onion, sprouts, and cabbage with firm noodles, not too oily. The pile of fried rice was a simple dish, which had tender roast pork cubes and onions with rice, cooked just right. The 3 chicken fingers however, were pretty thick (mostly coated with soft fried batter) covering chewy white meat chicken strips. I'm new to the area and thought we'd give this place a try. So my take on the food was a bit disappointing. First off the crab Rangoons were as salty as the ocean and unbearable to eat....Not sure if the chef feel asleep while mixing. Secondly the low mein noodles were served in small broken pieces as if the noodles were the bottom of the barrel. They should be long like spaghetti not small 2 inch pieces. Also the noodles were mushy and over cooked. My criticism is aimed only to bring awareness to their business for improvement purposes only. I'm not trying to hurt any business. Ok as buffets go this was small, one table with maybe 25 items including soups, appetizer, rice/lo mein, entrees and a dessert. So with that said lets just say this was a pleasant gas stop on the way home from Vermont. Located at most a mile off of exit 24 on 93, it sits in a quiet little hamlet of a town. The food was rather tasty, the general gaos and spareribs were among the best I've had but everything minus the rice was great. The rice may have been sitting a bit because it was crunchy in spots but wasn't that bad otherwise. The restaurant itself is small, incredibly clean, and well staffed by a nice family(?). Do try it of you find yourself hungry and on interstate 93, you will be pleasantly surprised. read more

I love me a good buffet...just to get that out there first. With that said the family and I hit Lucky Dragon up after seeing an ad for them in the local paper. An Asian buffet in the "middle of no where"? We had to take a look. I was ready to walk, as I have before, if the place was "icky". I was pleasantly surprised to see a decent sized (for the area), clean, well stocked buffet with a decent variety of food. Everything from soups to some basic sushi. Why only 3 stars you may ask? Because I am rating this as a buffet and for a straight up buffet (which it really isn't, so this may not be fair) it is small-ish. But let me say again, a clean restaurant, fresh food, good service and well run buffet was a welcome sight. I do recommend you give it a try. read more

It has really gone down hill over the past few years...it continues to get worse each time someone new buys it (I believe this is the 3rd owner in 15 years). Its bad enough when Chinese restaurants charge you for a simple substitution when Chinese food is almost 100÷ marked up to begin with but tonight when I ordered my combination meal and told them I didnt need any soy sauce or sweet n' sour sauce just hot mustard and she had the nerve to try to charge me a $1.00 for one of those little half filled plastic cups! This new owner is ruining the only Chinese restaurant Ashland has. They need to not only work on improving CUSTOMER SERVICE but renovate the place, it's a mess. read more

There isn't much to eat in this general area and this place had 2 good reviews, so we gave it a try. We called ahead to make sure it was a buffet and were told it costs $11.95. Upon walking in we just looked at each other and laughed. It's a very tiny place with ONE buffet table! That's a bit pricey for just one table. Every buffet I've ever been to has had a minimum of 4 tables for the same price. We gave it a try anyway. What a mistake. The food is not good. Since there wasn't much of a selection I didn't get to eat very much. Even the lo mein and fried rice were gross. I mostly just ate the broccoli out of the meat and veggie mixtures of what they called "food". They didn't even have white rice. They are very attentive at making sure there is enough food in the trays at least. And they were friendly too. But I would never come back here unless they lowered the price to like $5. read more

I really like Lucky Dragon... The food is great and the prices are right. I pass by at least 2 other Chinese restaurants in Plymouth to go to Lucky Dragon in Ashland. I agree with previous reviewers, eating there might be a little awkward because of the silence, size and lighting, however, I always get take out. I love the beef and string beans dish and the sesame chicken is great. As far as appetizers, they make the best boneless spareribs I have ever tried. The house fried rice was better than expected. It wasn't soaked in grease like another restaurant likes to do and it has plenty of chicken, pork and shrimp... Best part, the shrimp were deveined. The chicken fingers are also very good. They are friendly and usually very fast. I highly suggest you give it a try. read more

The food in general is alright, but the staff tend to be extremely rude. Only ate-in once, and I never went back unless it was take out merely because the staff almost seemed to ignore my boyfriend and I. Take-out was tolerable. The Lucky Dragon is A GREAT restaurant run by a GREAT family. Never a shortage of smiles when you order or they bring your order. Now The food...The food here is always fresh and tasty with generous portions!!! There were times I went in there, placed an order and was given FREE food for waiting. I have not tried the buffet so I can not say anything good or bad about it, but if it is from this restaurant then it has to be good! I would recommend this wholeheartedly. The take-out/eat in menu is pretty good. The small buffet can be good, depending how busy it is on any given night. I've been there a few times and, even though it's not a full buffet, the variety is worth paying for. The problem is, if it's a slow night, the food sits. My suggestion... go in and look the table over, and if it doesn't look appealing, order off the menu. If you're looking for a good buffet, go to Chinese buffet, go to Belmont NH or Concord NH. read more

The best beef terriyaki we have ever had in a Chinese-American place. Plus all the veggies seemed fresh. I ordered a shrimp dish also and decent amount of shrimp. Definitely a place I would go to again. My boyfriend and I stayed in town to rehab some buildings and it was a great find. read more
