My husband and I dined here on 10/7. The place is really beautiful and nice. Host was welcoming. The food looked absolutely incredible and came out quickly. Unfortunately the taste was not there. Updated my previous review to clarify some things. Decided to go here while me and a friend were waiting for Grandma on Vacation. When we entered, the hostess was very friendly. The server, however, was rude and condescending. It seemed she was stressed or overworked or something. She was a get in and get out kind of person, and it showed. Drinks were from a can meaning no refills. But I felt they were a bit overpriced compared to other restaurants that offered the same can of soda for less. For the meals, we both ordered a sweet and sour chicken and a wonton soup. Wonton Soup came out about 5 minutes after we order and was pretty good. Like the dumpling and meat combo and the broth was tasty. Sweet and sour chicken came out surprisingly quick and wasn't as good. The sauce overpowered the chicken in a bad way and didn't taste very good compared to other sweet and sour chicken meals I've had. Overall, very disappointing for the $40 I was charged for everything, and the experience was dreadful due to the server's rudeness and mixed quality in the food. It's a shame. :( read more

I have to say it's tough to review this restaurant. When driving by the place, mostly looks abandoned. There is a sign on the outside that says yes we are open, looking for employees or something like that. I took my grandson there and we're seated. The first thing I noticed, as other reviewers have noted, he is their prices are incredibly high compared to other Chinese restaurants. Steel Wool and Sick Stomach: China Garden was my preferred local Chinese restaurant but I've been convinced to look elsewhere. I have recently noticed that their egg rolls are predominantly stuffed with celery. I ordered sweet and sour chicken last night and received the sauce with no chicken. I had to go back to the restaurant to get the missing chicken while my family waited to have their Mother's Day meal. I was offered an apology but no effort was made to make up for the mistake or to compensate me for the inconvenience/hassle. I found strains of steel wool from a dish cleaning scrub pad in our rice. This is not the only review testifying to steel wool and sickness. My son also found a black substance on some of his rice. My wife had "gastric distress" last night from our meal and my stomach is upset this morning. read more

My Mom and my sister had told me about this place years ago but I never went there . With Covid so many places have closed but not China Garden . We finally tried it and we are so glad we did . They have the best crab Rangoon's I have ever had . I thought they were expensive until I realize they give you a ton of them . They were so good we were fighting over them lol Everything else we tried we lived too . The chicken fingers were also in my top three places to get them . Awful!!! The food was terrible and the drinks worse been going here for years and it's never been this bad. We did witness and group complain about their food and drinks and all they got was attitude from staff and a patron cursing at them. At that point we decided not to complain about our food as well and just never go back. Stay away it's gone seriously downhill. Called to complain and ask for a credit since I can't eat this and made me sick to my stomach and I get no apologies or offer to make it right,, they tell me to bring the bone back so the cook can see it!!!! Despite living in the area for over 30 years and just over 10 minutes from here; yesterday was the first time we've ordered from China Garden. The restaurant we usually use did not have chop suey on the menu, which one thing one of my guests wanted. China Garden has a more expansive menu and we gave it a try. We ordered a variety of appetizers, fried rice and of course the chop suey. Everything was delicious. Food was hot, crispy, servings were plentiful and the cost very reasonable. i know it's New Year's Eve, one of the busiest nights So I expected to wait a little extra past my requested pick up time of 6pm. Me receiving a call at 4:25 saying my food is ready is UNACCEPTABLE. In addition, me expressing to the woman at the window how ridiculous that is, her screaming at me as if I was in the wrong was also UNACCEPTABLE. I have been a customer for over 10 years, and have never been treated so poorly, by them or any other food establishment. My absolute standard for wonton soup broth, butterfly shrimp, subgum fried rice and hot mustard. SERVICE. So i spent my first NYE here 53 years ago and my mom has been a patron for years before that - and we have definitely learned not to EXPECT great service. Some of the dishes are very different from any other chinese food that ive had, so if you are the type of patron that has a favorite Chinese dish and like it the way you've always had it, it may be hit or miss for you. Not a huge fan of their egg rolls - they are kind of doughy but i get them so i can smother them in hot mustard (diluted with some duck sauce bc it is HOT mustard). But their wonton soup broth - so delicate - not oily or overpowered by chicken. I spent $117 for food New Year's eve. Called and placed order on Thursday for pickup at 2:00 Friday to beat the rush. Got to front of line at 2:30 , went home and unpacked food and ate (tried to) immediately. The chicken fingers, crab rangoons, dumplings, and chicken teriyaki were legitimately inedible. They were so overcooked that even soaking in duck sauce was useless. The fried rice and Lomein were good. Clearly the appetizers were made many hours ahead of time! I called Saturday morning to speak with the owner who basically said I was lucky to get food at all on New Year's eve because they are so busy and she knows the food isn't good on that day , nothing she can do because they are so overwhelmed they can't put out a good product. She said food was not made to order or fresh. I said well I have ordered food from other establishments New Year's eve and it was quality product, so she told me then go to them next year! Nice. Not the best of days and greatly in need of comfort food, so what's better than Chinese food?!? Deciding it would be our lunch/dinner we decided to go mid afternoon. We went with the Wonton soup, egg rolls and number 4 which was butterfly shrimp with vegetables and sub gum fried rice. The tea we ordered arrived promptly served by a very nice waitress. Next came the soup--a full cup of steaming broth, meat filled wontons and slices, not little slivers, of boneless pork. A little bowl of fried wontons accompanied the yummy soup. Next came the egg rolls that were fresh and crispy, very tasty and good size. Of course, there was the hot Chinese mustard and a pretty decent Duck Sauce too. Our shrimp and rice dishes were delivered to us in good time and they were both heaping portions of very good food. The fried shrimp were covered in a brown sauce and veggies---cooked perfectly and served piping hot. Love that! The rice was not what I thought it would be---I thought sub gum meant with nuts, but maybe not. Our rice had veggies in it and was the kind of darker fried rice I grew up eating, but no nuts. It was so delicious, it didn't matter! The restaurant appears to have had some new updates since the last time we actually ate there. We usually do takeout, so not sure when. Needless to say, we enjoyed our meals and we have plenty of leftovers. Also, the dinner for 2 was only $25----can't beat that! read more

This was some of the worst Chinese food I have EVER had!! Everything tasted like it had been frozen or out of a can. I got curry that looked like lumpy gravy. It was disgusting! LaChoy. My husband ordered duck. Dried out. We ordered house fried rice. It was dark brown and had nothing in it. We sent it back. It looked like she brought us the same exact rice with NOTHING. We were totally disgusted. We said we were leaving but we'd pay for our drinks and egg rolls (which were not fresh at all and barely warm). As far as Chinese food goes China Garden is pretty good. The selection is good and they will cook items to specific order if requested. They have some very good appetizers and traditional Chinese meals. They do have luncheon specials which come with a main meal, rice and an egg roll. These meals are a very generous portion and reasonable priced. The shrimp in lobster sauce is yummy although it certainly could use a few more shrimp in the dish. The Crab Rangoon's are very good with a tasty filling and plenty of it as many times there is very little filling. The duck sauce is some of the best I have had and they always give you extra. Call ahead and they will have your meal ready and it will be piping hot. I have never gone to get my food and had it be cold like it had been sitting for a while waiting. The seating in the restaurant is nice and not too crowded with tables. It appears every time I go that the majority of orders are take out so they are very well prepared for take outs and are very efficient with the process. Always like to try something new so give it a try and see what you think. read more
