This used to be a shining star of Hereford - now, it feels as tired and unloved as it looks. The rooms are incredibly run down and in need of refurbishment - we were on the second floor and whilst the room was acceptably clean, it was in an awful condition.
The bed was incredibly uncomfortable - it felt like sleeping on planks of wood. We were both left with back pain after four nights. The room was street facing so we expected some noise, however this isn't helped by poorly shutting windows. The room was cold, having read other reviews this seems to be common place.
The restaurant was pretty dire. I'm still pretty thrown by this what could be beautiful old hotel, with a gorgeous wooden panelled dining room... which served an over priced Indian buffet complete with soggy chips and what sounded like a Britney Spears CD playing loudly in the background. Totally bizarre. The breakfast is served in the same dining room - and was pretty alright - what you come to expect from a cheap (or not so cheap in the case of the Green Dragon) B&B.
In terms of positives, there is a small bar to the right of the main entrance which is beautifully laid out and serves drinks and light snacks. The location is also pretty perfect - you would be hard pressed to find a more central hotel in a better location, especially at the price. read more
