Breakfasts were wonderful, with each morning offering a different choice from the simple yet extensive menu. The beds were comfortable, the night was quiet, and the shower was clean. A kettle with tea and cookies along with a small fridge kept our hunger at bay. The WiFi signal was marginal in one corner of the room, but perfectly fine on the other side, so we were quite happy with our internet access. We only got a hotel because so many people were visiting our family that they just did not have room for us all, but for future visits we might need to make up some sort of excuse to not stay with them but instead stay at the "GMH". OK, that might not work because really I am a cheapskate, and family is mostly free, but we really did love out stay.

I started with the wild mushshooms and was recommended the duck when I couldn't decide. The mushrooms were light but full of flavour while the duck was presented beautifully and cooked to perfection. I was good and shared the baileys chocolate pudding, and again couldn't fault it other than making me want a whole thing to myself!! While I was there I found out they have special offers and vouchers can be printed from the website. With this in mind I will definitely be returning with the rest of the family

Our reception by the night-porter was cordial and he willingly served us to drinks because he'd sent the bar staff home. The bedroom and bathroom were modern, well fitted and had excellent views across to Bredon Hill. Breakfast, however, was a different prospect. Unclothed tables, covered in crumbs and no-one to greet or offer tea and coffee. When someone merged from the kitchen, extravagant gestures were required to fill our mugs. Whilst accepting that we'd descended for breakfast at (but not after) the end of the advertised breakfast time, this was no excuse for dehydrated bacon and sausage, rock-hard black pudding and fried eggs, swimming in oil, which were completely solid and rubbery. As if this wasn't enough, the picture window gave a panoramic view of the bins being emptied into the refuse vehicle a seemingly interminable process. We spent the day on the hills and returned to find, as before, smokers decorating the front steps an undignified sight, but probably unavoidable given the smoking ban and the apparent shortage of alternative places to indulge in tobacco. Breakfast on the following day was better inasmuch as the cooked offering was palatable, although the fruit was only partially thawed. Large chunks of frozen raspberry are not pleasant although the hot bowls straight from the dishwasher helped. It was a shame that the cooked breakfast was on cold plates. Front desk security was poor I was given an additional key card for our room on request with no suggestion of interrogation as to whether I had any entitlement. Will we be staying again? Well it certainly wouldn't be our first choice for this lovely part of Worcestershire.

Though I struggled to find it, both names are on the building, though "The Foley Arms Hotel" is in large type, while "Wetherspoon" and "Free House" are the smaller subtitles. JD Wetherspoon is a chain of hotels, which generally seem to have restaurants or gastropubs. This review is for the gastropub. I went searching for this place, because I was seeking a place with outlets to plug in my laptop. Having Wi-Fi was an excellent perk to coming here. This gastropub, which takes up the first floor and the basement, is quite extensive and a traditional-looking restaruant with large windows overlooking lower parts of Great Malvern. The food is traditional English, and the quality about what one would expect. Decent. After spending a couple of hours here working, I decided to get something to eat, and had the Cheese and Tomato Toastie. It was exactly as described, plus it came with chips. They give you a discount if you order something to drink. It doesn't matter if it's alcoholic or not. If you order it with your meal, you get a discount. I ordered a sparkling water to go with the Toastie. Upon arriving here, I ordered a decaf mocha latte, which was exactly as I expected it to be. The decor is older, the back of each of the various rooms have a wonderful wall of high windows looking out onto a lush garden. The clientele on this day was a bit quirky, but overall it's a nice place to spend an afternoon if you have to work from a computer and seek a place with free Wi-Fi and electrical outlets.

On arrival, we wondered how we were meant to get our buggy inside through the revolving door until a member of staff happened to come outside and told us about a side door which we could use. It didn't seem particularly clear where the reception was so we assumed you checked in at the bar. Not so. We were told that the hotel reception was on the first floor and we were directed to the stairs. I did ask where the lift was (due to our baby's buggy) and was told that there isn't a lift. Not helpful. So after a lot of going up and down the stairs with our bags and baby we made it to reception. We were given Room 9, the family room, which is massive! Definitely request this room. And the view is impressive too. The bed was very comfy and there was plenty of room for our travel cot. So despite having to struggle with a buggy and no lift, the room and view went some way to make up for the hassle of actually getting to the room itself.

It's a good place to relax and keep fit. I am yet to try one of the group classes. The treatments are one of the best i ever had in any spa(been to quite a few in different countries). Facilities are very good as well. Location not great if you fancy an overnight stay with pretty views. There's sauna, plunge pool, heated outdoor pool, relaxation areas(both outdoor and indoors), treatments are elemis .
